1st Day of rajab

اَللَّهُمَّ إنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ يا اللهُ يا اللهُ يا اللهُ،

allahumma inny as-aluka ya allahu ya allahu ya allahu,

O Allah: I verily beseech You, O Allah; O Allah; O Allah;

أَنْتَ اللهُ القَديمُ الأَزَلِيُّ الْمَلِكِ العَظيمِ،

anta allahu alqadimu al-azaliyyu almaliki al`azimi,

You are Allah; the Eternal, Whose Great Kingdom is everlasting.

أَنْتَ اللهُ الحَيُّ القَيُّومُ الْمَوْلى السَّميعُ البَصيرُ،

anta allahu alhayyu alqayyumu almawla alssami`u albasiru,

You are Allah; the Ever-living, the Self-Subsisting, the Master, the All-hearing, and the All-seeing.

يا مَنِ العِزُّ وَالجَلالُ،

ya mani al`izzu wal-jalalu,

O He to Whose Godhead, might and majesty

وَالكِبْرِياءُ وَالعَظَمَةُ،

wal-kibriya‘u wal-`azamatu,

And grandeur and greatness

وَالقُوَّةُ وَالعِلْمُ وَالقُدْرَةُ،

wal-quwwatu wal-`ilmu wal-qudratu,

And power and knowledge and potency

وَالنُّورُ وَالرُّوحُ،

wal-nnuru wal-rruhu,

And light and spirit

وَالْمَشيئَةُ وَالحَنانُ وَالرَّحْمَةُ وَالمُلْكُ لِرُبوبِيَّتِهِ،

wal-mashi’atu wal-hananu wal-rrahmatu wal-mulku lirububiyyatihi,

And volition and tenderness and mercy and lordship—all these belong to His Godhead.

نورُكَ أَشْرَقَ لَهُ كُلُّ نورٍ،

nuruka ashraqa lahu kullu nurin,

To Your light, all lights glowed;

وَخَمَدَ لَهُ كُلُّ نارٍ،

wa khamada lahu kullu narin,

And all fires abated;

وانْحَصَرَ لَهُ كُلُّ الظُّلُماتِ.

wanhasara lahu kullu alzzulumati.

And all darkness submitted.

أَسْأَلُكَ باسْمِكَ الَّذي اشْتَقَقْتَهُ مِنْ قِدَمِكَ وَأزَلِكَ وَنورِكَ،

as-aluka bismika alladhy ishtaqaqtahu min qidamika wa azalika wa nurika,

I beseech You by Your Name that You derived from You eternity and infinity and light;

وَبالإسْمِ الأَعْظَمِ الَّذي اشْتَقَقْتَهُ مِنْ كِبْرِيائِكَ وَجَبَروتِكَ وَعَظَمَتِكَ وَعِزِّكَ،

wa balismi al-a`zami alladhy ishtaqaqtahu min kibriya’ika wa jabarutika wa `azamatika wa `izzika,

And by the Grandest Name that You derived from Your grandeur and omnipotence and greatness and might;

وَبِجُودِكَ الَّذي اشْتَقَقْتَهُ مِنْ رَحْمَتِكَ،

wa bijuwdika alladhy ishtaqaqtahu min rahmatika,

And by Your magnanimity that You derived from Your mercy;

وَبِرَحْمَتِكَ الَّتي اشْتَقَقْتَها مِنْ رَأفَتِكَ،

wa birahmatika allaty ishtaqaqtaha min rafatika,

And by Your mercy that You derived from Your clemency;

وَبِرَأْفَتِكَ الَّتي اشْتَقَقْتَها مِنْ جودِكَ،

wa birafatika allaty ishtaqaqtaha min judika,

And by Your clemency that You derived from Your magnanimity;

وَبِجودِكَ الَّذي اشْتَقَقْتَهُ مِنْ غَيْبِكَ،

wa bijudika alladhy ishtaqaqtahu min ghaybika,

And by Your magnanimity that You derived from Your knowledge of the unseen;

وَبِغَيْبِكَ وَإحاطَتِكَ وَقِيامِكَ وَدَوامِكَ وَقِدَمِكَ.

wa bighaybika wa ihatatika wa qiyamika wa dawamika wa qidamika.

And by Your knowledge of the unseen, and Your comprehension of all things, and Your subsistence, and Your perpetuity, and Your eternity.

وَأسْألُكَ بِجَمِيعِ أسْمائِكَ الْحُسْنى

wa as-aluka bijami`i asma’ika alhusna

And I beseech You by all of Your Most Excellent Names.

لا إلَهَ إلاّ أنْتَ الواحِدُ الأحَدُ الفَرْدُ الصَّمَدُ الحَيُّ،

la ilaha illa anta al-wahidu al-ahadu alfardu alssamadu alhayyu,

There is no god save You; the One, the One and Only, the Unique, the Besought of all, the Ever-living,

الأوَّلُ الآخِرُ الظّاهِرُ الباطِنُ،

al-awwalu al-akhiru alzzahiru albatinu

The Foremost of all things, the Last, the Evident, the Immanent.

وَلَكَ كُلُّ اسْمٍ عَظيمٍ،

wa laka kullu asmin `azimin,

To You do belong all great names,

وَكُلُّ نورٍ وَغَيْبٍ،

wa kullu nurin wa ghaybin,

And all lights and unseen things,

وَعِلْمٍ وَمَعْلومٍ،

wa `ilmin wa ma`lumin,

And all knowledge and all known things,

وَمُلْكٍ وَشَأْنٍ

wa mulkin wa sha’nin,

And all kingdoms and all affairs.

وَبِلا إلَهَ إلاّ أنْتَ تَقَدَّسْتَ وَتَعالَيْتَ عُلُوّاً كَبيراً.

wa bila ilaha illa anta taqaddasta wa ta`alayta `uluwwan kabiran.

And due to that there is no god save You, You have been Holy and Elevated in high exaltation.

اَللّهُمَّ إنّي أسْألُكَ بِكُلِّ اسْمٍ هُوَ لَكَ طاهِرٌ مُطَهَّرٌ،

allahumma inny as-aluka bikulli asmin huwa laka tahirun mutahharun,

O Allah: I beseech You by all names that are Yours; names that are pure and immaculate

طَيِّبٌ مُبارَكٌ مُقَدَّسٌ،

tayyibun mubarakun muqaddasun,

And wholesome and blessed and holy;

أنْزَلْتَهُ في كُتُبِكَ وَأجْرَيْتَهُ في الذِّكْرِ عِنْدَكَ،

anzaltahu fy kutubika wa ajraytahu fy aldhdhikri `indaka,

Whether You revealed in Your Books, or You added to the Reminder that You keep,

وَتَسَمَّيْتَ بِهِ لِمَنْ شِئْتَ مِنْ خَلْقِكَ

wa tasammayta bihi liman sh’ita min khalqika

Or You used it with any of Your creatures that You willed

أوْ سَألَكَ بِهِ أحَدٌ مِنْ مَلائِكَتِكَ وَأنْبِيائِكَ وَرُسُلِكَ بِخَيْرٍ تُعْطيهِ فَأعْطَيْتَهُ،

aw sa-alaka bihi ahadun min mala’ikatika wa anbiya’ika wa rusulika bikhayrin tu`tihi fa`taytahu,

Or by which any of Your angels or Prophets and Messengers besought You for granting him a welfare, and You did,

أوْ شَرٍّ تَصْرِفُهُ فَصَرَفْتَهُ،

aw sharrin tasrifuhu fasaraftahu,

Or for saving him from an evil, and You did,

يَنْبَغي أنْ أسْألَكَ بِهِ.

yanbaghy an as-alaka bihi.

And I thus should beseech You by that name.

فأسْألُكَ يا رَبِّ أنْ تَنْصُرَني عَلى أعْدائي وَتَغْلِبَ ذِكْري عَلى نِسْياني،

fa as-aluka ya rabbi an tansurany `ala a`da’y wa taghliba dhikry `ala nisyani,

Hence, I beseech You, O my Lord, to give me victory over my enemies and make my perception overcome my oblivion.

اَللّهُمَّ إجْعَلْ لِعَقْلي عَلى هَوايَ سُلْطاناً مُبيناً،

allahumma ij`al li`aqly `ala hawaya sultanan mubinan,

O Allah: (please) give my intellect a manifest proof against my lusts,

وَإقْرِنْ اخْتِياري بِالتَّوْفيقِ،

wa iqrin akhtiyary bialttawfiqi,

And attach my choices to appositeness,

وإجْعَلْ صاحِبي التَّقْوى،

wij`al sahiby alttaqwa,

And decide piety to be my companion,

وَأوْزِعْني شُكْرَكَ عَلى مَواهِبِكَ.

wa awzi`ny shukraka `ala mawahibika.

And arouse me to thank You for Your gifts,

واهْدني اَللّهُمَّ بِهُداكَ إلى سَبيلِكَ المُقِيمِ وَصِراطِكَ المُسْتِقيمِ ،

wahdny allahumma bihudaka ila sabilika almuqimi wa siratika almustiqimi,

And, O Allah; guide me through Your true guidance to Your straight course and Your right path.

وَلا تَمْلِكْ زِمامي الشَّهَواتُ فَتَحْمِلُني عَلى طَريقِ الْمَخْذولينَ،

wa la tamlik zimamy alshshahawatu fatahmiluny `ala tariqi almakhdhulina,

And do not make desires control over me and thus take me to the way of the disappointed ones,

وَحُلْ بَيْني وَبَيْنَ المُنْكَراتِ،

wa hul bayny wa bayna almunkarati,

And intervene between me and the forbidden things,

وَاجْعَلْ لي عِلْماً نافِعاً،

wa ij`al ly `ilman nafi`an,

And decide for me advantageous knowledge,

وَأغْرِسْ في قَلبي حُبَّ الْمَعْروفِ وَلا تَأخُذْني بَغْتَةً،

waghris fy qalby hubba alma`rufi wa la takhudhny baghtatan,

And implant in my heart the love for the good; and do not overtake me all of a sudden,

وَتُبْ عَلَيَّ إنَّكَ أنْتَ التَّوّابُ الرَّحيمُ.

wa tub `al-ayya innaka anta alttawwabu alrrahimu.

And accept my repentance; You are verily the Oft-returning to mercy, the Merciful.

وَعَرِّفْني بَرَكَةَ هذا الشَّهْرِ وَيُمْنَهُ،

wa `arrifny barakata hdha alshshahri wa yumnahu,

And (please) acquaint me with the blessing and felicity of this month,

وَارْزُقْني خَيْرَهُ وَاصْرِفْ عَنّي شَرَّهُ،

warzuqny khayrahu wasrif `anny sharrahu,

And confer upon me with its good and keep away from me its evil,

وَقِني الْمَحْذورَ فيهِ،

wa qiny almahdhura fihi,

And protect me against what is peril in it,

وَأعِنّي عَلى ما أُحِبُّهُ مِنَ القِيامِ بِحَقِّهِ،

wa `inny `ala ma auhibbuhu mina alqiyami bihaqqihi,

And help me do that which I like from the carrying out if its duty,

وَمَعْرِفَةِ فَضْلِهِ،

wa ma`rifati fadlihi,

And the recognition of its virtue,

وَاجْعَلْني فيهِ مِنَ الفائِزينَ يا أرْحَمَ الرّاحِمينَ.

wa ij`alny fihi mina alfa’izina ya arhama alrrahimina.

And make me of the winners; O the most Merciful of all those who show mercy.

اَللّهُمَّ إنّي أسْألُكَ بِاسْمِكَ المُتَعالِ الجَليلِ العَظيمِ،

allahumma inny as-aluka bismika almuta`ali aljalili al`azimi,

O Allah: I beseech You by Your Name: the elevated, the lofty, and the great,

وَبِاسْمِكَ الواحِدِ الصَّمَدِ،

wa bismika al-wahidi alssamadi,

And by Your Name: the One, the Besought of all,

وَبِاسْمِكَ العِزيزِ الأعْلى،

wa bismika al`izizi al-a`la,

And by Your Name: the Almighty, the All-high;

وَبِأسْمائِكَ الحُسْنى كُلِّها،

wa biasma’ika alhusna kulliha,

And by all of Your Most Excellent Names.

يا مَنْ خَشَعَتْ لَهُ الأصْواتُ

ya man khasha`at lahu al-aswatu

O He before Whom all sounds submit,

وَخَضَعَتْ لَهُ الرِّقابُ

wa khada`at lahu alrriqabu

And all necks yield,

وَذَلَّتْ لَهُ الأعْناقُ،

wa dhallat lahu al-a`naqu,

And all heads humble themselves,

وَوَجِلَتْ مِنْهُ القُلوبُ،

wa wajilat minhu alqulubu,

And all hearts fear,

وَدانَ لَهُ كُلُّ شَيْءٍ،

wa dana lahu kullu shay‘in,

And all things surrender,

وَقامَتْ بِهِ السَّماواتُ وَالأرْضُ،

wa qamat bihi alssamawatu wal-ardu,

And by Whom the heavens and the earth subsisted.

أشْهَدُ أنَّكَ لا تُدْرِكُكَ الأبْصارُ

Ash-hadu annaka la tudrikuka al-absaru

I bear witness that visions cannot comprehend You,

وأنْتَ تُدْرِكُ الأبْصارَ

wa anta tudriku al-absara

While You comprehend all visions,

وأنْتَ اللَّطيفُ الخَبِيرُ.

wa anta allatifu alkhabiru.

And You are the Knower of subtleties, the All-aware.

يا رَبَّ جِبْرَئيلَ وَميكائيلَ وَإسْرافيلَ،

ya rabba jibra’ila wa mika’ila wa israfila,

O the Lord of (Archangels) Gabriel and Michael and Israfil

وَجَميعِ الْمَلائِكَةِ المُقَرَّبينَ وَالكُروبِيّينَ وَالكِرامِ الكاتِبينَ،

wa jami`i almala’ikati almuqarrabina wal-kurubiyyina wal-kirami alkatibina,

And all the favorite angles and the Cherubim and the noble, recording angles

وَجَميعِ الْمَلائِكَةِ المُسَبِّحينَ بِحَمْدِكَ،

wa jami`i almala’ikati almusabbihina bihamdika,

And all the angels that praise You, declaring Your praiseworthiness,

وَرَبَّ آدَمَ وَشيثٍ وَإدْريسَ،

wa rabba adama wa shithin wa idrisa,

And the Lord of Adam and Shayth and Idris

وَنوحٍ وَهودٍ وصالِحٍ،

wa nuhin wa hudin wsalihin,

And Noah and Hud and Salih

وَإبْراهيمَ وَإسْماعيلَ

wa ibrahima wa isma`ila

And Abraham and Ishmael

وَإسْحاقَ وَلوطٍ،

wa ishaqa wa lutin,

And Isaac and Lot

وَيَعْقوبَ وَيوسُفَ وَالأسْباطِ

wa ya`quba wa yusufa wal-asbati

And Jacob and Joseph and the Tribes

وَأيّوبَ وَموسى

wa ayyuba wa musa

And Job and Moses

وَهارونَ وَشُعيبٍ،

wa haruna wa shu`aybin,

And Aaron and Shu`ayb

وَداوودَ وَسُلَيْمانَ وَإرْمِيا،

wa dawuda wa sulaymana wa irmiya,

And David and Solomon and Jeremiah

وَعُزَيْرٍ وَحِزْقيلَ،

wa `uzayrin wa hizqila,

And Ezra and Ezekiel

وَشَعْيا وَإلْياسَ،

wa sha`ya wa ilyasa,

And Joshua and Elias

وَإليَسَعَ وَيونُسَ وَذي الكِفْلِ،

wa ilyasa`a wa yunusa wa dhy alkifli,

And Elisha and Jonah and Dhu’l-Kifl

وَزَكَرِيّا وَيَحْيى،

wa zakariyya wa yahya,

And Zachariah and John

وَعيسى وَجِرْجيسَ،

wa `isa wa jirjisa,

And Jesus and Georges

وَمُحَمَّدٍ صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِمْ أجْمَعينَ،

wa muhammadin salla allahu `al-ayhim ajma`ina,

And Muhammad, peace of Allah be upon him and upon them all,

وَعَلى مَلائِكَةِ اللهِ المُقَرَّبينَ

wa `ala mala’ikati allhi almuqarrabina

And peace be upon the favorite angels of Allah

وَالكِرامِ الكاتِبينَ

wal-kirami alkatibina

And upon the recording, noble angels,

وَجَميعِ الأمْلاكِ المُسَبِّحينَ

wa jami`i al-amlaki almusabbihina

And upon all the angels who praise Him,

وَسلَّمَ تَسْليماً كَثيراً.

wa sallama tasliman kathiran.

And thorough benediction be upon them.

أنْتَ رَبُّنا الأوَّلُ الآخِرُ،

anta rabbuna al-awwalu alakhiru,

You are our Lord; the Foremost of all, the Last of all,

الظّاهِرُ الباطِنُ،

alzzahiru albatinu

The Evident, the Immanent,

الَّذي خَلَقْتَ السَّماواتِ وَالأرَضينَ

alladhy khalaqta alssamawati wal-aradina

It is You Who created the heavens and the layers of the earth

ثُمَّ اسْتَوَيْتَ عَلى العَرْشِ الْمَجيدِ،

thumma astawayta `ala al`arshi almajidi,

And You then established Yourself on the (Divine) Glorious Throne

بِأسْمائِكَ الحُسْنى تُبْدِئُ وَتُعيدُ،

biasma’ika alhusna tubd’iu wa tu`idu,

By Your Most Excellent Names, You originate (creation) and then reproduce it,

وَتُغْشي اللَيْلَ النَّهارَ يَطْلُبُهُ حَثيثاً،

wa tughshy allayla alnnahara yatlubuhu hathithan,

And You cover the night with the day, which is in haste to follow it,

وَالشَّمْسُ وَالقَمَرُ

wal-shshamsu wal-qamaru

And the sun and the moon

وَالنُّجومُ وَالفَلَكُ

wal-nnujumu wal-falaku

And the stars and the orbit

وَالدُّهورُ وَالخَلْقُ

wal-dduhuru wal-khalqu

And the ages and the creation;

مُسَخَّرونَ بِأمْرِكَ،

musakhkharuna biamrika,

All these are subservient by Your order.

تَبارَكْتَ وَتَعالَيْتَ يا رَبَّ العالَمينَ.

tabarakta wa ta`alayta ya rabba al`alamina.

Blessed and Exalted be You, O the Lord of the worlds.

لا إلَهَ إلاّ أنْتَ

la ilaha illa anta

There is no god save You;

الحَنّانُ الْمَنّانُ

alhannanu almannanu

The All-tender, the All-favorer,

بَديعُ السَّماواتِ وَالأرْضِ،

badi`u alssamawati wal-ardi,

The wonderful Maker of the heavens and the earth,

ذو الجَلالِ وَالإكْرامِ،

dhw aljalali wal-ikrami,

The Lord of majesty and honor.

لَوْ كَانَ الْبَحْرُ مِدَاداً لِكَلِمَاتِ رَبِّي

law kana albahru midadan likalimati rabbiy

Though the sea became ink for the Words of my Lord,

لَنَفِدَ الْبَحْرُ قَبْلَ أَنْ تَنفَدَ كَلِمَاتُ رَبِّي

lanafida albahru qabla an tanfada kalimatu rabbi

Verily, the sea would be used up before the words of my Lord were exhausted,

وَلَوْ جِئْنَا بِمِثْلِهِ مَدَداً.

wa law j’ina bimithlihi madadan.

even though We brought the like thereof to help.

تَعْلَمُ مَثاقيلَ الجِبالِ

ta`lamu mathaqila aljibali

You know the weights of mountains,

وَمَكائيلَ البِحارِ

wa maka’ila albihari

And the measures of oceans,

وَعَدَدَ الرِّمالِ،

wa `adada alrrimali,

And the number of pebbles,

وَقَطْرَ الأمْطارِ،

wa qatra al-amtari,

And the numbers of the drops of rain,

وَوَرَقَ الأشْجارِ،

wa waraqa al-ashjari,

And the number of the leaves of trees,

وَنُجومَ السَّماءِ

wa nujuma alssama‘i

And the number of the stars in the skies,

وَما أظْلَمَ عَلَيْهِ اللَيْلُ وَأشْرَقَ عَلَيْهِ النَّهارُ،

wa ma azlama `alayhi allaylu wa ashraqa `alayhi alnnaharu,

As well as whatever is covered by darkness of night and whatever is under the daylight.

لا يُواري مِنْكَ سَماءٌ سَماءً وَلا أرْضٌ أرْضاً،

la yuwary minka sama‘un sama‘an wa la ardun ardan,

No sky can screen You from another sky and no layer can screen You from another layer,

وَلا بَحْرٌ مُتَطابِقٌ،

wa la bahrun mutatabiqun,

Neither does any wavy ocean

وَلا ما بَيْنَ سَدِّ الرُّتوقِ،

wa la ma bayna saddi alrrutuqi,

Or anything that lies between the blockage of mendings

وَلا ما في القَرارِ مِنَ الهَباءِ الْمَبْثوثِ.

wa la ma fy alqarari mina alhaba‘i almabthuthi.

Or anything of the spread motes that lie in the depths.

أسْألُكَ بِاسْمِكَ الْمَخْزونِ الْمَكْنونِ

as-aluka bismika almakhzuni almaknuni

I beseech You by Your Name; the stored, the concealed,

النّورِ المُنيرِ،

alnnuri almuniri,

The luminous light,

الْحَقِّ المُبينِ،

alhaqqi almubini,

The true right,

الَّذي هو نورٌ مِنْ نورٍ

alladhy hw nurun min nurin

Which is light made of light

وَنورٌ عَلى نورٍ،

wa nurun `ala nurin,

And light on light,

وَنورٌ فَوْقَ كُلِّ نورٍ،

wa nurun fawqa kulli nurin,

And light over all lights,

وَنورٌ مَعَ كُلِّ نورٍ،

wa nurun ma`a kulli nurin,

And light with all lights,

وَلَهُ كُلُّ نورٍ،

wa lahu kullu nurin,

And to Your Name does belong the entire light.

مِنْكَ يا رَبُّ النّورُ،

minka ya rabbu alnnuru,

From You, O Lord, is the light,

وَإلَيْكَ يَرْجِعُ النّورُ.

wa ilayka yarji`u alnnuru.

And to You does the light return,

وَبِنورِكَ الَّذي تُضيءُ بِهِ كُلُّ ظُلْمَةٍ،

wa binurika alladhy tudi‘u bihi kullu zulmatin,

And by Your light are all darknesses lit,

وَتَبْطُلُ بِهِ كَيْدُ كُلِّ شَيْطانٍ مَريدٍ،

wa tabtulu bihi kaydu kulli shaytanin maridin,

And by Your Name is the trick of all rebellious devils made ineffective,

وَتَذُلُّ بِهِ كُلُّ جَبّارٍ عَنيدٍ،

wa tadhullu bihi kullu jabbarin `anidin,

And by Your Name are all the obstinate tyrants humiliated,

وَلا يَقومُ لَهُ شَيْءٌ مِنْ خَلْقِكَ

wa la yaqumu lahu shay‘un min khalqika

And nothing can stand with it against Your will,

وَيَتَصَدَّعُ لِعَظَمَتِهِ البَرُّ وَالبَحْرُ،

wa yatasadda`u li`azamatihi albarru wal-bahru,

And because of its grandeur, the lands and the oceans are split,

وَتَسْتَقِلُّ الْمَلائِكَةُ حينَ يَتَكَلَّمُ بِهِ،

wa tastaqillu almala’ikatu hina yatakallamu bihi,

And angels keep silent when there is speech about it,

وَتَرْعَدُ مِنْ خَشْيَتِهِ حَمَلَةُ العَرْشِ العَظيمِ

wa tar`adu min khashyatihi hamalatu al`arshi al`azimi

And due to fear of it, the angels bearing the Great Throne tremble in awe,

إلى تُخومِ الأرَضينَ السَّبْعِ،

ila tukhumi al-aradina alssab`i,

so do all those of lower states, down to those in the lowest layers of the earth.

الَّذي انْفَلَقَتْ بِهِ البِحارُ،

alladhy anfalaqat bihi albiharu,

Through it, oceans burst,

وَجَرَتْ بِهِ الأنْهارُ،

wa jarat bihi al-anharu,

And rivers flow,

وَتَفَجَّرَتْ بِهِ العُيونُ،

wa tafajjarat bihi al`uyunu,

And springs split,

وَسارَتْ بِهِ النُّجُومُ،

wa sarat bihi alnnujuwmu,

And stars move,

وَأُرْكِمَ بِهِ السَّحابُ وَأُجْرِيَ،

wa urkima bihi alssahabu wa ‘ujriya,

And clouds are accumulated and moved

وَاعْتَدَلَ بِهِ الضَّبابُ،

wa i`tadala bihi alddababu,

And fog straighten up,

وَهالَتْ بِهِ الرِّمالُ،

wa halat bihi alrrimalu,

And sands heap,

وَرَسَتْ بِهِ الجِبالُ

wa rasat bihi aljibalu

And mountains settle down,

وَاسْتَقَرَّتْ بِهِ الأرَضونَ،

wa astaqarrat bihi al-araduna,

And the layers of the earth become stable,

وَنَزَلَ بِهِ القَطْرُ

wa nazala bihi alqatru

And drops of rain descend,

وَخَرَجَ بِهِ الحَبُّ،

wa kharaja bihi alhabbu,

And seeds grow up,

وَتَفَرَّقَتْ بِهِ جَبَلاتُ الخَلْقِ،

wa tafarraqat bihi jabalatu alkhalqi,

And creation have become of various kinds,

وَخَفَقَتْ بِهِ الرِّياحُ،

wa khafaqat bihi alrriyahu,

And winds blow

وَانْتَشَرَتْ وَتَنَفَّسَتْ بِهِ الأرْواحُ.

wa antasharat wa tanaffasat bihi al-arwahu.

And souls spread and breathe.

يا اَللهُ أنْتَ المُتَسَمَّى بِالإلهِيَّةِ،

ya allahu anta almutasamma bi-ilahiyyati,

O Allah: It is You to Whom Godhead is ascribed;

بِاسْمِكَ الكَبيرِ الأكْبَرِ

bismika alkabiri al-akbari

(I beseech You) by Your Name: the big, the All-big,

العَظيمِ الأعْظَمِ

al`azimi al-a`zami

The great, the All-great,

الَّذي عَنَتْ لَهُ الوُجوهُ،

alladhy `anat lahu aluujuhu,

Before which all faces humble themselves.

يا ذا الطَّوْلِ وَالآلاءِ،

ya dha alttawli wal-ala‘i,

O the Lord of bounty and graces:

لا إلَهَ إلاّ أنْتَ يا قَريبُ،

la ilaha illa anta ya qaribu,

There is no god save You, O the Nigh;

أنْتَ الغالِبُ عَلى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ،

anta alghalibu `ala kulli shay‘in,

It is You Who prevails on all things;

أسْألُكَ اَللّهُمَّ بِجَميعِ أسْمائِكَ كُلِّها

as-aluka allahumma bijami`i asma’ika kulliha

I beseech You, O Allah, by all of Your Names,

ما عَلِمْتُ مِنها وَما لَمْ أعْلَمْ،

ma `alimtu minha wa ma lam a`lam,

Those which I know and those which I do not;

وَبِكُلِّ اسْمٍ هُوَ لَكَ

wa bikulli ismin huwa laka

And by every Name that belongs to You;

أنْ تُصَلِّيَ عَلى مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

an tusalliya `ala muhammadin wa ali muhammadin

(I beseech You) to send blessings upon Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad,

وَأنْ تَكْفِيَني أمْرَ أعْدائي

wa an takfiyany amra a`da’i

And to rescue me from the plots of my enemies

وَتُبَلِّغَني مُنايَ

wa tuballighany munaya

And to make me attain my hope;

يا أرْحَمَ الرّاحِمينَ.

ya arhama alrrahimina.

O the most Merciful of all those who show mercy.

اَللّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلى مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ،

allahumma salli `ala muhammadin wa ali muhammadin,

O Allah: (please) send blessings upon Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad

وارْحَمْ مُحَمَّداً وَآلَ مُحَمَّدٍ

warham muhammadan wa ala muhammadin

And have mercy upon Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad

وَبارِكْ عَلى مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ،

wa barik `ala muhammadin wa ali muhammadin,

And bless Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad

كَما صَلَّيْتَ وَرَحِمْتَ وَبارَكْتَ وَتَرَحَّمْتَ عَلى إبْراهيمَ وَآلِ إبْراهيمَ

kama sallayta wa rahimta wa barakta wa tarahhamta `ala ibrahima wa ali ibrahima

As You sent blessings, mercy, benedictions, and clemency upon (Prophet) Abraham and the household of Abraham.

إنَّكَ حِميدٌ مَجيدٌ،

innaka himidun majidun,

Verily, You are verily worthy of all praise, full of all glory.

اَللّهُمَّ أعْطِ مُحَمَّداً الوَسيلَةَ وَالشَّرَفَ

allahumma a`ti muhammadan aluasilata wal-shsharafa

O Allah: (please) grant Muhammad the right of intercession and an honorable station

وَالرِّفْعَةَ وَالفَضيلَةَ عَلى خَلْقِكَ

wal-rrif`ata wal-fadilata `ala khalqika

And an exalted position and preference over all Your creatutes,

وَاجْعَلْ في المُصْطَفَيْنَ تَحِيّاتِهِ،

wa ij`al fy almustafayna tahiyyatihi,

And decide him to be the target of the Chosen Ones’ greetings,

وَفي العِلِّيّينَ دَرَجَتَهُ،

wa fy al`illiyyina darajatahu,

And elevate his rank to the most exalted place,

وَفي المُقَرَّبينَ مَنْزِلَتَهُ،

wa fy almuqarrabina manzilatahu,

And put his position within the position of the Favorite Ones.

اَللّهُمَّ صَلَّ عَلى جَميعِ مَلائِكَتِكَ

allahumma salla `ala jami`i mala’ikatika

O Allah: (please) send blessings upon all of Your angels

وَأنْبِيائِكَ وَرُسُلِكَ

wa anbiya’ika wa rusulika

And Prophets and Messengers

وَأهْلِ طَاعَتِكَ.

wa ahli ta`atika.

And people of obedience to You.

اَللّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِلْمُؤمِنينَ وَالمُؤمِناتِ

allahumma aghfir lilmu´minina wal-mu´minati

O Allah: (please) forgive the believing men and women

وَالمُسْلِمينَ وَالمُسْلِماتِ

wal-muslimina wal-muslimati

And the Muslim men and women,

الأحْياءِ مِنْهُمْ وَالأمْواتِ،

alahia‘i minhum wal-amwati,

The alive and the dead,

وَألِّفْ بَيْنَ قُلوبِنا وَقُلوبِهِمْ عَلى الخَيْراتِ،

wa allif bayna qulubina wa qulubihim `ala alkhayrati,

And (please) put affection between our and their hearts on good things.

اَللّهُمَّ إجْزِ مُحَمَّداً صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ

allahumma ijzi muhammadan salla allahu `alayhi wa alihi

O Allah: (please) award Muhammad—peace of Allah be upon him and his Household—

أفْضَلَ ما جَزَيْتَ نَبِيّاً عَنْ أُمَّتِهِ،

afdala ma jazayta nabiyyan `an aummatihi,

With the best award that You have ever given to a Prophet on behalf of his people,

كَما تَلا آياتِكَ

kama tala aiatika

An award that befits his having recited Your verses,

وَبَلَّغَ ما أرْسَلْتَهُ بِهِ،

wa ballagha ma arsaltahu bihi,

And conveyed that with which You sent him,

وَنَصَحَ لأُمَّتِهِ

wa nasaha liaummatihi

And wished well for his nation,

وَعَبَدَكَ حَتّى أتاهُ اليَقينُ

wa `abadaka hatta atahu alyaqinu

And worshipped You until death came upon him.

صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَعَلى آلِهِ الطَّيِّبينَ.

salla allahu `alayhi wa `ala alihi alttayyibina.

Allah’s blessings be upon him and upon his Immaculate Household.

(تَبَارَكَ اللَّهُ رَبُّ الْعَالَمِينَ)

tabaraka alllahu rabbu al`alamina

“Blessed be Allah, the Lord of the Worlds!”

(تَبَارَكَ اللَّهُ أَحْسَنُ الْخَالِقِينَ)

tabaraka alllahu ahsanu alkhaliqina

“Blessed be Allah, the Best of creators!”

(تَبَارَكَ الَّذِي نَزَّلَ الْفُرْقَانَ عَلَى عَبْدِهِ لِيَكُونَ لِلْعَالَمِينَ نَذِيراً.

tabaraka alladhiy nazzala alfurqana `ala `abdihi liyakuwna lil`alamina nadhiran

“Blessed is He Who hath revealed unto His slave the Criterion (of right and wrong), that he may be a warner to the peoples.

الَّذِي لَهُ مُلْكُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ

alladhiy lahu mulku alssamawati wal-ardi

He unto Whom belongs the Sovereignty of the heavens and the earth,

وَلَمْ يَتَّخِذْ وَلَداً

wa lam yattakhidh waladan

He has chosen no son

وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ شَرِيكٌ فِي الْمُلْكِ

wa lam yakun lahu sharikun fiy almulki

Nor has He any partner in the Sovereignty.

وَخَلَقَ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ فَقَدَّرَهُ تَقْدِيراً)

wa khalaqa kulla shay‘in faqaddarahu taqdiran

He has created everything and has meted out for it a measure.”

(تَبَارَكَ الَّذِي إِنْ شَاءَ جَعَلَ لَكَ خَيْراً مِنْ ذَلِكَ

tabaraka alladhiy ‘in sha‘a ja`ala laka khayran min dhalika

“Blessed is He Who, if He will, will assign You better than all that;

جَنَّاتٍ تَجْرِي مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الأَنْهَارُ

jannatin tajriy min tahtiha alanharu

Gardens underneath which rivers flow,

وَيَجْعَلْ لَكَ قُصُوراً)

wa yaj`al laka qusuran

and will assign You mansions.”

(وَتَبَارَكَ الَّذِي لَهُ مُلْكُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا

wa tabaraka alladhiy lahu mulku alssamawati wal-ardi wa ma baynahuma

“And blessed be He unto Whom belongs the Sovereignty of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them,

وَعِنْدَهُ عِلْمُ السَّاعَةِ

wa `indahu `ilmu alssa`ati

and with Whom is knowledge of the Hour,

وَإِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ.)

wa ‘ilayhi turja`uwna

and to Whom you will be returned.”

(تَبَارَكَ اسْمُ رَبِّكَ ذِي الْجَلالِ وَالإِكْرَامِ.)

tabaraka asmu rabbika dhiy aljalali wal-’ikrami

“Blessed be the name of your Lord, Mighty and glorious.”

(تَبَارَكَ الَّذِي بِيَدِهِ الْمُلْكُ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

tabaraka alladhiy biyadihi almulku wa huwa `alai kulli shay‘in qadirun

“Blessed is He in Whose hand is the Sovereignty, and, He is Able to do all things;

الَّذِي خَلَقَ الْمَوْتَ وَالْحَيَاةَ لِيَبْلُوَكُمْ أَيُّكُمْ أَحْسَنُ عَمَلاً

alladhiy khalaqa almawta wal-haya ta liyabluwakum ayyukum ahsanu `amalan

Who has created life and death that He may try you which of you is best in conduct;

وَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الْغَفُورُ.)

wa huwa al`azizu alghafuwru

and He is the Mighty, the Forgiving.”

(تَبَارَكَ الَّذِي جَعَلَ فِي السَّمَاءِ بُرُوجاً

tabaraka alladhiy ja`ala fiy alssama‘i burujan

“Blessed be He Who has placed in the heaven mansions of the stars,

وَجَعَلَ فِيهَا سِرَاجاً وَقَمَراً مُنِيراً.)

wa ja`ala fiha sirajan wa qamaran muniran

and has placed therein a great lamp and a moon giving light.”

أعوذُ بِكَلِماتِ اللهِ التّامّاتِ كُلِّها الَّتي لا يُجاوِزُهُنَّ بِرٌّ وَلا فاجِرٌ،

a`udhu bikalimati allhi alttammati kulliha allaty la yujawizuhunna birrun wa lafajirun,

I seek the protection of all of the Perfect Words of Allah that neither an upright one nor can a licentious one exceed them,

مِنْ شَرِّ إبْليسَ وَجُنودِهِ،

min sharri iblisa wa junudihi,

Against the evil of Iblis and his troops,

وَمِنْ شَرِّ كُلِّ شَيْطانٍ وَسُلْطانٍ،

wa min sharri kulli shaytanin wa sultanin,

And against the evil of all devils and rulers

وَساحِرٍ وَكاهِنٍ،

wa sahirin wa kahinin,

And sorcerers and magicians

وَشَرِّ كُلِّ ذي شَرٍّ.

wa sharri kulli dhy sharrin.

And against the evil of all evil ones.

اَللّهُمَّ إنّي أسْتَوْدِعُكَ نَفْسي وَديني

allahumma inny astawdi`uka nafsy wa dini

O Allah: I keep as trust with You my self and my religion

وَسَمْعي وَبَصَري

wa sam`y wa basari

And my hearing and my sight

وَجَسَدي وَجَميعَ جَوارِحي

wa jasady jami`a jawarihi

And my body and all my organs

وَأهْلي وَمالي وَأولادي

wa hly wa maly wa awladi

And my family members and my property and my children

وَجَميعَ مَنْ يُعْنيني أمْرُهُ،

wa jami`a man yu`niny amruhu,

And all those for whose affairs I am responsible

وَخَواتيمَ عَمَلي

wa khawatima `amali

And the seal of my deeds

وَسائِرَ ما مَلَّكْتَني وَخَوَّلْتَني وَرَزَقْتَني

wa sa’ira ma mallaktany wa khawwaltany wa razaqtani

And all that which You have given me in possession and authorized me to dispose and provided me

وَأنْعَمْتَ بِهِ عَلَيَّ

wa an`amta bihi `alayya

And conferred upon me

وَجَميعَ المُؤمِنينَ وَالمُؤمِناتِ،

wa jami`a almu´minina wal-mu´minati,

And all the believing men and women.

يا خَيْرَ مُسْتَوْدَعٍ

ya khayra mustawda`in

O the best of trustees;

وَيا خَيْرَ حافِظٍ

wa ya khayra hafizin

O the best of keepers;

وَيا أرْحَمَ الرّاحِمينَ.

wa ya arhama alrrahimina.

O the most Merciful of all those showing mercy.

اَللّهُمَّ إنّي أسْألُكَ بِاسْمِكَ:

allahumma inny as-aluka biasmika:

O Allah: I beseech You by Your Name:

اللهِ اللهِ اللهِ اللهِ اللهِ،

allhi allhi allhi allhi allhi,

Allah, Allah, Allah, Allah, Allah,

الَّذي لا إلَهَ إلاّ هُوَ رَبُّ العَرْشِ العَظيمِ،

alladhy la ilaha illa huwa rabbu al`arshi al`azimi,

There is no god save You, the Lord of the Great Throne;

أنْ تُصَلِّيَ عَلى مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

an tusalliya `ala muhammadin wa ali muhammadin

(I beseech You) to send blessings upon Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad,

وَأنْ تُفَرِّجَ عَنّي

wa an tufarrija `anni

And to relieve me;

يا رَبَّ السَّماواتِ وَالأرَضينَ وَمَنْ فيهِنَّ،

ya rabba alssamawati wal-aradina wa man fihinna,

O the Lord of the heavens and the earth and whoever is therein;

وَمُجْرِيَ البِحارِ

wa mujriya albihari

O He Who causes oceans to flow

وَرازِقَ مَنْ فيهِنَّ،

wa raziqa man fihinna,

And provides provisions to whatever is therein

وَفاطِرَ السَّماواتِ وَالأرَضينَ وَأطْباقِها

wa fatira alssamawati wal-aradina wa atbaqiha

O the Originator of the heavens and the earth and their layers,

وَمُسَخِّرَ السَّحابِ وَمُجْرِيَ الفُلْكِ.

wa musakhkhira alssahabi wa mujriya alfulki.

And He Who causes the clouds to be obedient (to Him) and He Who causes ships to move,

وَجاعِلَ الشَّمْسِ ضِياءً وَالقَمَرِ نوراً،

wa ja`ila alshshamsi diya‘an wal-qamari nuran,

And He Who appoints the sun a splendor and the moon a light,

وَخالِقَ آدَمَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلامُ،

wa khaliqa adama `alayhi alssalamu,

And He Who is the Creator of Adam, peace be upon him,

وَمُنْشِئَ الأنْبِياءِ عَلَيْهِمُ السَّلامُ مِنْ ذُرِّيَّتِهِ،

wa munsh’ia alanbiya‘i `alayhimu alssalamu min dhurriyatihi,

And the Maker of the Propehts from his offspring—peace be upon them,

وَمُعَلِّمَ إدْريسَ عَدَدَ النُّجومِ وَالحِسابَ وَالسِّنينَ وَالشُّهورَ وَأوْقاتِ الأزْمانِ،

wa mu`allima idrisa `adada alnnujumi wal-hisaba wal-ssinina wal-shshuhura wa awqati al-azmani,

And He Who taught Idris to calculate the stars, and taught him the reckoning and the number of years and months and the time;

وَمُكَلِّمَ موسى،

wa mukallima musa,

And He Who spoke to Moses

وَجاعِلَ عَصاهُ ثُعْباناً،

wa ja`ila `asahu thu`banan,

And caused his stick to be serpent,

وَمُنْزِلَ التَّوْراةِ في الألْواحِ عَلى موسى عَلَيْهِ السَّلامُ.

wa munzila alttawrati fy al-alwahi `ala musa `alayhi alssalamu.

And revealed the Torah in the tablets to Moses, peace be upon him;

وَمُجْرِيَ الفُلْكِ لِنوحٍ،

wa mujriya alfulki linuhin,

And He Who caused the ark of Noah to run,

وَفادِيَ إسْماعيلَ مِنَ الذَّبْحِ،

wa fadiya isma`ila mina aldhdhabhi,

And He Who ransomed Ishmael from slaughtering,

وَالمُبْتَلِي يَعْقوبَ بِفَقْدِ يوسُفَ،

wal-mubtaliy ya`quba bifaqdi yusufa,

And He Who tried Jacob by the loss of Joseph

وَرادَّ يوسُفَ عَلَيْهِ بَعْدَ أنِ ابْيَضَّتْ عَيناهُ مِنَ البُكاءِ،

wa radda yusufa `alayhi ba`da ani abyaddat `aynahu mina albuka‘i,

And He Who restored Joseph to him (i.e. his father) after his eyes had become white, out of heavy weeping.

فَتَفَرَّجَ قَلْبُهُ مِنَ الحُزْنِ وَالشَّجى،

fatafarraja qalbuhu mina alhuzni wal-shshaja,

Hence, his heart got rid of sadness and sorrow;

وَرازِقَ زَكَرِيّا يَحْيى عَلى الكِبَرِ بَعْدَ الإياسِ

wa raziqa zakariyya yahya `ala alkibari ba`da aliyasi

And He Who granted Zachariah, in his old age, John as son after he had despaired of so;

وَمُخْرِجَ النّاقَةِ لِصالِحٍ،

wa mukhrija alnnaqati lisalihin,

And He Who sent forth the she-camel to (Prophet) Salih;

وَمُرْسِلَ الصَّيحَةِ عَلى مُكيدي هودٍ،

wa mursila alssayhati `ala mukidy hudin,

And He Who sent forth the awful cry on those who plotted against (Propeht) Hud,

وَكاشِفَ البَلاءِ عَنْ أيّوبَ،

wa kashifa albala‘i `an ayyuba,

And He Who relieved Job from his adversity,

وَمُنْجي لُوطٍ مِنَ القَوْمِ الفاحِشينَ.

wa munjy luwtin mina alqawmi alfahishina.

And He Who saved (Prophet) Lot from the committers of abomination;

وَواهِبَ الحِكْمَةِ لِلُقْمانَ،

wa wahiba alhikmati liluqmana,

And He Who bestowed upon Luqman with wisdom;

وَمُلقي رُوحِ القُدُسِ بِكَلِماتِهِ عَلى مَريَمَ عَلَيْها السَّلامُ،

wa mulqy ruwhi alqudusi bikalimatihi `ala maryama `alayha alssalamu,

And He Who ordered the Holy Spirit to convey His Words to Mary, peace be upon her,

وَخَلَقْتَ مِنْها عَبْدَكَ عيسى عَلَيْهِ السَّلامُ،

wa khalaqta minha `abdaka `isa `alayhi alssalamu,

And He created from her His servant, Jesus, peace be upon him,

وَالمُنْتَقِمَ مِنْ قَتَلَةِ يَحْيى بْنِ زَكَرِيّا عَلَيْهِما السَّلامُ،

wal-muntaqima min qatalati yahya bni zakariyya `alayhima alssalamu,

And He Who punished the slayers of Joan, son of Zachariah, peace be upon both of them;

وأسْألُكَ بِرَفْعِكَ عيسى إلى سَمائِكَ

wa as-aluka biraf`ika `isa ila sama’ika

I beseech You by Your taking Jesus up to Your heavens,

وَبِإبْقائِكَ لَهُ إلى أنْ تَنْتَقِمَ لَهُ مِنْ أعْدائِكَ.

wa b’ibqa’ika lahu ila an tantaqima lahu min a`da’ika.

And by Your keeping him alive until You decide to retaliate upon Your enemies for him.

وَيا مُرْسِلَ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ خاتِمِ أنْبِيائِكَ

wa ya mursila muhammadin salla allahu `alayhi wa alihi khatimi anbiya’ika

O He Who sent Muhammad—peace of Allah be upon him and his Household—the seal of Your Prophets,

إلى أشَرِّ عِبادِكَ بِشَرائِعِكَ الحَسَنَةِ،

Ila asharri `ibadika bishara’i`ika alhasanati,

To the most evil of Your slaves, carrying to them Your excellent commandments,

وَدينِكَ القَيِّمِ،

wa dinika alqayyimi,

And Your straight religion,

وَمِلَّةِ إبْراهيمَ خَليلِكَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلامُ

wa millati ibrahima khalilika `alayhi alssalamu

Which is extension of the religion of Your intimate friend, Abraham, peace be upon him,

وَإظْهارِ دينِهِ القَيِّمِ،

wa izhari dinihi alqayyimi,

And (You sent him for) making His straight religion prevail over all religions,

وَإعلائِكَ كَلِمَتَهُ

wa i`la’ika kalimatahu

And making His Word be the highest.

يا ذا الجَلالِ وَالإكرامِ،

ya dha aljalali wal-ikrami,

O the Lord of majesty and honor;

يا مَنْ لا تَأخُذُهُ سِنَةٌ وَلا نَوْمٌ،

ya man la takhudhuhu sinatun wa la nawmun,

O He Whom is not overtaken by sleep or slumber;

يا أحَدُ يا صَمَدُ

ya ahadu ya samadu

O the One and Only; O the Besought of all;

يا عَزيزُ يا قادِرُ يا قاهِرُ،

ya `azizu ya qadiru ya qahiru,

O the Almighty; O the Able; O the Omnipotent;

يا ذا القُوَّةِ والسُّلطانِ

ya dha alquwwati walssultani

O the Owner of power and authority

وَالجَبَروتِ وَالكِبْرِياءِ.

wal-jabaruti wal-kibriya‘i.

And supremacy and grandeur;

يا عَلِيُّ يا قَديرُ

ya `aliyyu ya qadiru

O the Most High; O the All-powerful;

يا قَريبُ يا مُجيبُ،

ya qaribu ya mujibu,

O the Nigh; O the Responding;

يا حَليمُ يا مُعيدُ،

ya halimu ya mu`idu,

O the Forebearing; O the Reproducer (of creation);

يا مُتَداني يا بَعيدُ،

ya mutadany ya ba`idu,

O the Approaching; O the Far-off;

يا رَؤُوفُ يا رَحيمُ

ya rau´ufu ya rahimu

O the All-kind; O the All-merciful;

يا كَريمُ يا غَفورُ،

ya karimu ya ghafuru,

O the All-generous; O the All-forgiving;

يا ذا الصَّفْحِ

ya dha alssafhi

O the Owner of excuse;

يا مُغيثُ يا مُطْعِمُ،

ya mughithu ya mut`imu,

O the Aide; O the provider of food;

يا شافي يا كافي،

ya shafy ya kafi,

O the Healer; O the Rescuer;

يا كاسي يا مُعافي،

ya kasy ya mu`afi,

O the Provider with dress; O the Curer;

يا شافي الضُّرِّ،

ya shafy alddurri,

O the Alleviator of harms;

يا عَليمُ يا حَكيمُ يا وَدودُ.

ya `alimu ya hakimu ya wadudu.

O the All-knowing; O the All-wise; O the All-loving;

يا غَفورُ يا رَحيمُ

ya ghafuru ya rahimu

O the All-forgiver; O the All-merciful:

يا رَحْمانَ الدُّنيا وَالآخِرَةِ،

ya rahmana alddunia wal-akhirati,

O the Beneficent of this world and the Hereafter;

يا ذا الْمَعارِجِ يا ذا القُدْسِ،

ya dha alma`ariji ya dha alqudsi,

O the Lord of the Ascending Stairways; O the Lord of sanctity;

يا خالِقُ يا عَليمُ

ya khaliqu ya `alimu

O the Creator; O the All-knowing;

يا مُفَرِّجُ يا أوّابُ

ya mufarriju ya awwabu

O the Reliever; O the Turning with mercy;

يا ذا الطَّوْلِ يا خَبيرُ،

ya dha alttawli ya khabiru,

O the Lord of bounty; O the All-aware;

يا مَنْ خَلَقَ وَلَمْ يُخْلَقْ

ya man khalaqa wa lam yukhlaq

O He Who created, but He was not created;

يا مَنْ لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ،

ya man lam yalid wa lam yulad,

O He Who never begets nor was he begotten;

يا مَنْ بانَ مِنَ الأشْياءِ

ya man bana mina alashia‘i

O He Who is different from all things;

وَبانَتِ الأشْياءُ مِنْهُ بِقَهْرِهِ لَها وَخُضوعِها لَهُ،

wa banati alashia‘u minhu biqahrihi laha wa khudu`iha lahu,

And all things are different from Him out of His prevelance over them and their submission before Him;

يا مَنْ خَلَقَ البِحارَ وَأجْرى الأنْهارَ

ya man khalaqa albihara wa ajra alanhara

O He Who created the oceans and caused the rivers to flow;

وَأنْبَتَ الأشْجارَ وَأخْرَجَ مِنْها النّارَ،

wa anbata alashjara wa akhraja minha alnnara,

And He caused the trees to grow and He extracted fire from them

وَمِنْ يابِسِ الأرَضينَ النَّباتَ وَالأعْنابَ وَسائِرَ الثِّمارِ.

wa min yabisi alaradina alnnabata wal-a`naba wa sa’ira alththimari.

And extracted plants and rapes and the other fruits from the dry lands.

يا فالِقَ البَحرِ لِعَبْدِهِ موسى عَلَيْهِ السَّلامُ وَمُكَلِّمَهُ،

ya faliqa albahri li`abdihi musa `alayhi alssalamu wa mukallimahu,

O He Who set apart the river for His servant, Moses, peace be upon him, and He Who spoke to him,

وَمُغْرِقَ فِرْعَوْنَ وَحِزْبَهُ

wa mughriqa fir`awna wa hizbahu

And He Who drowned Pharaoh and faction

وَمُهْلِكَ نَمْرودَ وَأشْياعَهُ،

wa muhlika namruda wa ashya`ahu,

And He Who destroyed Nimrud and his groups

وَمُلَيِّنَ الحَديدِ لِخَليفَتِهِ داوودَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلامُ،

wa mulayyina alhadidi likhalifatihi dawuda `alayhi alssalamu,

And He Who made the iron pliant for His vicegerent, David, peace be upon him,

وَمُسَخِّرَ الجِبالِ مَعَهُ يُسَبِّحْنَ بِالغُدُوِّ وَالآصالِ،

wa musakhkhira aljibali ma`ahu yusabbihna bialghuduwwi wal-asali,

And He Who subdued the hills to hymn the praises (of their Lord) with him at nightfall and sunrise;

وَمُسَخِّرَ الطَّيْرِ وَالهَوامِّ وَالرِّياحِ وَالجِنِّ وَالإنْسِ لِعَبْدِكَ سُلَيْمانَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلامُ

wa musakhkhira alttayri wal-hawammi wal-rriyahi wal-jinni wal-insi li`abdika sulaymana `alayhi alssalamu

And He Who subdued the birds and the verments and the winds and the jinn and the humankind for His servant, Solomon, peace be upon him;

وأسْألُكَ بِاسْمِكَ الَّذي اهْتَزَّ لَهُ عَرْشُكَ

wa as-aluka bismika alladhy ahtazza lahu `arshuka

I beseech You by Your Name to which Your Throen shook

وَفَرِحَتْ بِهِ مَلائِكَتُكَ،

wa farihat bihi mala’ikatuka,

And by which Your angels were delighted;

فَلا إلَهَ إلاّ أنْتَ

fala ilaha illa anta

So, there is no god save You;

خالِقُ النَّسَمَةِ وَبارِئُ النَّوى وَفالِقُ الحَبَّةِ،

khaliqu alnnasamati wa bar’iu alnnawa wa faliqu alhabbati,

The Creator of souls and the Maker of seeds and the Splitter of grains;

وَبِاسْمِكَ العَزيزِ الجَليلِ الكَبيرِ المُتَعالِ.

wa bismika al`azizi aljalili alkabiri almuta`ali.

And by Your Name: the Almighty, the Lofty, the Great, the high Exalted;

وَبِاسْمِكَ الَّذي يَنْفُخُ بِهِ عَبْدُكَ وَمَلَكُكَ إسْرافيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلامُ في الصّورِ،

wa bismika alladhy yanfukhu bihi `abduka wa malakuka israfilu `alayhi alssalamu fy alssuri,

And by Your Name by which Your servant and angel, Michael, peace be upon him, shall blow the Trumpet,

فَيَقومُ أهْلُ القُبورِ سِراعاً إلى الْمَحْشَرِ يَنْسِلونَ،

fayaqumu ahlu alquburi sira`an ila almahshari yansiluna,

And thus the inhabitants of graves shall stand up, hasting to the place of resurrection;

وَبِاسْمِكَ الَّذي رَفَعْتَ بِهِ السَّماواتِ مِنْ غَيْرِ عِمادٍ

wa bismika alladhy rafa`ta bihi alssamawati min ghayri `imadin

And by Your Name by which You uplifted the heavens without supports

وَجَعَلْتَ بِهِ لِلأرَضينَ أوتاداً،

wa ja`alta bihi lilaradina awtadan,

And by which You made bulwarks for the earth;

وَبِاسْمِكَ الَّذي سَطَحْتَ بِهِ الأرَضينَ فَوْقَ الماءِ الْمَحْبوسِ،

wa bismika alladhy satahta bihi alaradina fawqa alma‘i almahbusi,

And by Your Name by which You surfaced the earth on the repressed water;

وَبِاسْمِكَ الَّذي حَبَسْتَ بِهِ ذلِكَ الماءَ

wa bismika alladhy habasta bihi dhlika alma‘a

And by Your Name by which You repressed that water;

وَبِاسْمِكَ الَّذي حَمَلْتَ بِهِ الأرَضينَ مَنِ اخْتَرْتَهُ لِحَمْلِها،

wa bismika alladhy hamalta bihi alaradina mani akhtartahu lihamliha,

And by Your Name by which You caused him whom You chose for undertaking the earth to undertake it

وَجَعَلْتَ لَهُ مِنَ القُوَّةِ ما اسْتَعانَ بِهِ عَلى حَمْلِها.

wa ja`alta lahu mina alquwwati ma asta`ana bihi `ala hamliha.

And You supplied him with the power that helped him undertake it;

وَبِاسْمِكَ الَّذي تَجْري بِهِ الشَّمْسُ وَالقَمَرُ،

wa bismika alladhy tajry bihi alshshamsu wal-qamaru,

And by Your Name by which the sun and the moon move;

وَبِاسْمِكَ الَّذي سَلَخْتَ بِهِ النَّهارَ مِنَ اللَيْلِ،

wa bismika alladhy salakhta bihi alnnahara mina allayli,

And by Your Name by which You strip the day of the night;

وَبِاسْمِكَ الَّذي إذا دُعيتَ بِهِ أنْزَلْتَ أرْزاقَ العِبادِ

wa bismika alladhy idha du`ita bihi anzalta arzaqa al`ibadi

And by Your Name; if You are prayed by it, You bring down the provisions of the servants

وَجَميعِ خَلْقِكَ

wa jami`i khalqika

And all Your creatures

وَأرْضِكَ وَبِحارِكَ

wa ardika wa biharika

And Your lands and Your oceans

وَسُكّانِ البِحارِ وَالهّوامِّ،

wa sukkani albihari wal-hawammi,

And the inhabitants of the oceans and the verments

وَالجِنِّ وَالإنْسِ

wal-jinni wal-insi

And the jinn and the humankind

وَكُلِّ دابَّةٍ أنْتَ آخِذٌ بِناصِيَتِها

wa kulli dabbatin anta akhidhun binasiyatiha

And every creeping creature that You grasp by the forelock!

إنَّكَ عَلى كُلِّ شَيْءْ قَديرٌ

innaka `ala kulli shay‘ qadirun.

You verily have power over all things.

وَبِاسْمِكَ الَّذي جَعَلْتَ بِهِ لِجَعْفَرَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلامُ جَناحاً يَطيرُ بِهِ مَعَ الْمَلائِكَةِ،

wa bismika alladhy ja`alta bihi lija`fara `alayhi alssalamu janahan yatiru bihi ma`a almala’ikati,

And by Your Name by which You made a wing for Ja`far, peace be upon him, by which he flies with the angels;

وَبِاسْمِكَ الَّذي دَعاكَ بِهِ يُونُسُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلامُ في بَطْنِ الحوتِ فَأخْرَجْتَهُ مِنْهُ،

wa bismika alladhy da`aka bihi yuwnusu `alayhi alssalamu fy batni alhuti fakhrajtahu minhu,

And by Your Name by which Jonah—peace be upon him—prayed You from the interior of the whale; and You thus took him out of there;

وَبِاسْمِكَ الَّذي أنْبَتَّ بِهِ عَلَيْهِ شَجَرَةً مِنْ يَقْطينٍ،

wa bismika alladhy anbatta bihi `alayhi shajaratan min yaqtinin,

And by Your Name by which You caused a tree of gourd to grow above him;

فَاسْتَجَبْتَ لَهُ وَكَشَفْتَ عَنْهُ ما كانَ فيهِ مَنْ ضيقِ بَطْنِ الحوتِ.

fastajabta lahu wa kashafta `anhu ma kana fihi man diqi batni alhuti.

Hence, You responded to him and relieved from the distress that he had experienced in the interior of the whale;

أسْألُكَ أنْ تُصَلِّيَ عَلى مُحَمَّدٍ عَبْدِكَ وَرَسولِكَ وَعَلى آلِهِ الطَّيِّبينَ،

as-aluka an tusalliya `ala muhammadin `abdika wa rasulika wa `ala alihi alttayyibina,

I beseech You to send blessings upon Muhammad, Your servant and Your Messenger, and upon his Household, the Immaculate,

وَأنْ تُفَرِّجَ عَنّي وَتَكْشِفَ ضُرّي وَتَسْتَنْقِذَني مِنْ وَرطَتي،

wa an tufarrija `anny wa takshifa durry wa tastanqidhany min wartati,

And to relieve me (from my distress) and to remove away my harm and to save me from my troubles

وَتُخَلِّصَني مِنْ مِحْنَتي،

wa tukhallisany min mihnati,

And to release me from my ordeal

وَتَقْضِيَ عَنّي دُيوني،

wa taqdiya `anny duyuni,

And to help me settle my debts

وَتُؤَدِّيَ عَنّي أمانَتي،

wa tu´addiya `anny amanati,

And to help me fulfill my trust

وَتَكْبُتَ أعْدائي،

wa takbuta a`da’i,

And to suppress my enemies

وَلا تُشْمِتَ بي حُسّادي،

wa la tushmita by hussadi,

And not to make those who envy me rejoice at my misfortune

وَلا تَبْتَلِيَني بِما لا طاقَةَ لي بِهِ،

wa la tabtaliyany bima la taqata ly bihi,

And not to try me through that which I cannot stand

وَأنْ تُبَلِّغَني أُمْنِيَّتي،

wa an tuballighany aumniyati,

And to make me attain my hope

وَتُسَهِّلَ لي مِحْنَتي،

wa tusahhila ly mihnati,

And to make easy for me my ordeal

وَتُيَسِّرَ لي أرادَتي،

wa tuyassira ly aradati,

And to facilitate my determination

وَتُوصِلَني إلى بُغْيَتي،

wa tuwsilany ila bughyati,

And to make me reach my desire

وَتَجْمَعَ لي خَيْرَ الدّارَيْنِ،

wa tajma`a ly khayra alddarayni,

And to join for me the welfare of the two abodes (i.e. this world and the Next World)

وَتَحْرُسَني وَكُلَّ مَنْ يُعنيني أمْرُهُ،

wa tahrusany wa kulla man yu`niny amruhu,

And to safeguard me as well as everybody for whom I care

بِعَينِكَ الّتي لا تَنامُ في اللَيْلِ وَالنَّهارِ،

bi`aynika allty la tanamu fy allayli wal-nnahari,

With Your eye that never sleeps at night or in days;

يا ذا الجَلالِ والإكْرامِ وَالأسْماءِ العِظامِ.

ya dha aljalali wal-ikrami wal-asma‘i al`izami.

O the Lord of majesty and honor and Grand Names.

اَللّهُمَّ يا رَبُّ أنا عَبْدُكَ وَابْنُ عَبْدِكَ وَابْنُ أمَتِكَ

allahumma ya rabbu ana `abduka wabnu `abdika wabnu amatika

O Allah: O my Lord: I am verily Your servant and the son of Your servant and Your bondwoman

وَمِنْ أوْلِياءِ أهْلِ بَيْتِ نَبِيِّكَ صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَيْهِمْ،

wa min awliya‘i ahli bayti nabiyyika salla allahu `alayhi wa `alayhim,

And I am one of the loyalists of Your Prophet’s Household—peace of Allah be upon him and them—

الَّذينَ بارَكْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ

alladhina barakta `alayhim

Upon whom You showered blessings

وَرَحِمْتَهُمْ وَصَلَّيْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ

wa rahimtahum wa sallayta `alayhim

And whom You had mercy and You blessed

كَما صَلَّيْتَ وَبارَكْتَ عَلى إبْراهيمَ وَآلِ إبراهيمِ

kama sallayta wa barakta `ala ibrahima wa ali ibrahimi

In the same way as You blessed and sanctified Abraham and the household of Abraham;

إنَّكَ حَميدٌ مَجيدٌ،

innaka hamidun majidun,

Verily, You are worthy of all praise, full of all Glory.

وَلِمَجْدِكَ وَطَوْلِكَ،

wa limajdika wa tawlika,

And depending upon Your glory and Your bountifulness,

أسْألُكَ يا رَبّاهُ يا رَبّاهُ

as-aluka ya rabbahu ya rabbahu

I beseech You; O my Lord; O my Lord;

يا رَبّاهُ يا رَبّاهُ

ya rabbahu ya rabbahu

O my Lord; O my Lord;

يا رَبّاهُ يا رَبّاهُ

ya rabbahu ya rabbahu

O my Lord; O my Lord;

يا رَبّاهُ يا رَبّاهُ

ya rabbahu ya rabbahu

O my Lord; O my Lord;

يا رَبّاهُ يا رَبّاهُ

ya rabbahu ya rabbahu

O my Lord; O my Lord;

بِحَقِّ مُحَمَّدٍ عَبْدِكَ وَرَسولِكَ

bihaqqi muhammadin `abdika wa rasulika

In the name of Muhammad, Your servant and Messenger,

صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ،

salla allahu `alayhi wa alihi,

Peace of Allah be upon his and his Household,

وَبِحَقِّكَ عَلى نَفْسِكَ

wa bihaqqika `ala nafsika

And in the name of Your duty toward Yourself

إلاّ خَصَمْتَ أعْدائي وَحُسّادي

illa khasamta a`da’y wa hussadi

That You may be the enemy of my enemies and those who envy me

وَخَذَلْتَهُمْ وَانْتَقَمْتَ لي مِنْهُمْ،

Wa khadhaltahum wantaqamta ly minhum,

And that You may disappoint them and revenge on them for me

وَأظْهَرْتَني عَلَيْهِمْ وَكَفَيْتَني أمْرَهُمْ،

wa az-hartany `alayhim wa kafaytany amrahum,

And make me prevail on them and do with them on my behalf

وَنَصَرْتَني عَلَيْهِمْ وَحَرَسْتَني مِنْهُمْ،

wa nasartany `alayhim wa harastany minhum,

And that You may grant me victory over them and guard me against them

وَوَسَّعْتَ عَلَيَّ في رِزْقي

wa wassa`ta `alayya fy rizqi

And expand my sustenance

وَبَلَّغْتَني غايَةَ أمَلي

wa ballaghtany ghayata amali

And make me attain the ultimate of my hopes;

إنَّكَ سَميعٌ مُجيبٌ

innaka sami`un mujibun.

Verily, You are All-hearing, Responding.
