Aamal of 20th of Ramadan

اللّهُمّ افْتَحْ لِي فِيهِ أَبْوَابَ الجِنَانِ،

allahumma aftah li fihi abwaba aljinani

O Allah: on this day, (please) open for me the gates of the gardens of Paradise;

وَأَغْلِقْ عَنّي فِيهِ أَبْوَابَ النّيرَانِ،

wa aghliq `anni fihi abwaba alnnirani

And shut in my face the gates of Hellfire;

وَوَفّقْنِي فِيهِ لِتِلاوَةِ القُرْآنِ،

wa waffiqny fihi litilawati alqur’ani

And lead me to recite the Qur'an,

يَا مُنْزِلَ السّكِينَةِ فِي قُلُوبِ المُؤْمِنِينَ.

ya munzila alsskinati fi qulubi almu´minina

O He Who sends down tranquility in the hearts of the believers.

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ بِاسْمِكَ الْمَخْزُونِ الطَّاهِرِ الْمُطَهَّرِ

“O‟ my God! I ask You by Your safely treasured Name, the Pure, the Purified.

يَا مَنِ اسْتَجَابَ لِأَبْغَضِ خَلْقِهِ إِلَيْهِ إِذْ قَالَ‌ أَنْظِرْنِي إِلى‌ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ‌

O‟ He who is respondent to His most despised creatures when they say, „O‟ my Lord! Give me then respite till the Day the (dead) are raised.

فَإِنِّي لَا أَكُونُ أَسْوَءَ حَالًا مِنْهُ فِيمَا سَأَلْتُكَ فَاسْتَجِبْ لِي فِيمَا دَعْوَتُكَ [دَعْوَتَكَ‌] وَ أَعْطِنِي يَا رَبِّ مَا سَأَلْتُكَ

My condition is not any worse than that. O‟ my Master! I ask You to fulfill my prayers and bestow on me what I ask for.

إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ يَا سَيِّدِي أَنْ تُصَلِّيَ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍوَ أَنْ تَجْعَلَنِي مِمَّنْ تَنْتَصِرُ بِهِ لِدِينِكَ

‟I ask You to bestow Your Blessings on Muhammad and his Progeny (as) and let me be one whose help You seek for Your Religion;

وَ تُقَاتِلُ بِهِ عَدُوَّكَ فِي الصَّفِّ الَّذِي ذَكَرْتَ فِي كِتَابِكَ فَقُلْتَ‌ كَأَنَّهُمْ بُنْيانٌ مَرْصُوصٌ‌ مَعَ أَحَبِّ خَلْقِكَ إِلَيْكَ فِي أَحَبِّ الْمَوَاطِنِ لَدَيْكَ

fighting Your enemies like those whom You mentioned in Your Book when You said, „as if they were a solid cemented structure‟2 - with the best creature and in the best place near You.

اللَّهُمَّ وَ فِي صُدُورِ الْكَافِرِينَ فَعَظِّمْنِي وَ فِي أَعْيُنِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ فَجَلِّلْنِي وَ فِي نَفْسِي وَ أَهْلِ بَيْتِي فَذَلِّلْنِي وَ حَبِّبْ إِلَيَّ مَنْ أَحْبَبْتَ وَ بَغِّضْ إِلَيَّ مَنْ أَبْغَضْتَ

O‟ my God! Please exalt me in the eyes of the believers, and belittle me in my eyes and the eyes of my relatives.

وَ وَفِّقْنِي لِأَحَبِّ الْأُمُورِ إِلَيْكَ وَ أَرْضَاهَا لَدَيْكَ

Let me love those whom You Love, let me despise those whom You despise, and let me succeed in doing what You Like and what pleases You.

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي مِنْكَ إِلَيْكَ أَفِرُّ وَ لَيْسَ ذَلِكَ إِلَّا مِنْ خَوْفِي عَدْلَكَ

O‟ my God! I flee to You from You. This is only because I fear Your Justice,

وَ إِيَّاكَ أَسْأَلُ بِكَ لِأَنَّهُ لَيْسَ أَحَدٌ إِلَّا دُونَكَ وَ لَا أَقْدِرُ أَنْ أَسْتَتِرَ مِنْكَ فِي لَيْلٍ وَ لَا نَهَارٍ

and I ask You for Your Sake since others are all lower than You are. And I cannot hide myself from You at night or during the day.

وَ أَنَا عَارِفٌ بِرُبُوبِيَّتِكَ مُقِرٌّ بِوَحْدَانِيَّتِكَ أَحَطْتَ

I know of Your Lordship and confess to Your Oneness.

يَا إِلَهِي خُبْراً بِأَهْلِ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَ أَهْلِ الْأَرْضِ لَا يَشْغَلُكَ شَيْ‌ءٌ عَنْ شَيْ‌ءٍ

O‟ my God! Your Knowledge encompasses all the residents of the heavens and the earth. Nothing shall hinder you from anything else.

لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ‌ إِنَّكَ عَلى‌ كُلِّ شَيْ‌ءٍ قَدِيرٌ.

There is no God but You! You have power over all things.

أَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ مِمَّا مَضَى مِنْ ذُنُوبِي وَ مَا نَسِيتُهَا وَ هِيَ مُثْبَتَةٌ عَلَيَّ يُحْصِيهَا عَلَيَّ الْكِرَامُ الْكَاتِبُونَ يَعْلَمُونَ مَا أَفْعَلُ

“I ask God for forgiveness for the sins that I forgot but the Honorable recorders have recorded. They know what I have done.

وَ أَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ [أَسْتَغْفِرُهُ‌] مِنْ مُوبِقَاتِ الذُّنُوبِ

I ask God for forgiveness for destructive sins.

وَ أَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ [أَسْتَغْفِرُهُ‌] مِنْ مُفْظِعَاتِ الذُّنُوبِ

I ask God for forgiveness for heinous sins.

وَ أَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ [أَسْتَغْفِرُهُ‌] مِمَّا فَرَضَ عَلَيَّ فَتَوَانَيْتُ

I ask God for forgiveness for my sluggishness in performing the obligations!

وَ أَسْتَغْفِرُهُ مِنْ نِسْيَانِ الشَّيْ‌ءِ الَّذِي بَاعَدَنِي مِنْ رَبِّي

And I ask God for forgiveness for forgetting what caused me to get far from my Lord!

وَ أَسْتَغْفِرُهُ مِنَ الزَّلَّاتِ وَ الضَّلَالاتِ وَ مِمَّا كَسَبَتْ يَدَايَ

I ask God for forgiveness for my slippages, deviations and from what I did.

وَ أُومِنُ بِهِ وَ أَتَوَكَّلُ عَلَيْهِ كَثِيراً كَثِيراً

I believe in Him and highly rely upon Him.

وَ أَسْتَغْفِرُهُ وَ أَسْتَغْفِرُهُ وَ أَسْتَغْفِرُهُ وَ أَسْتَغْفِرُهُ وَ أَسْتَغْفِرُهُ وَ أَسْتَغْفِرُهُ وَ أَسْتَغْفِرُهُ

I ask Him for forgiveness, I ask Him for forgiveness, I ask Him for forgiveness, I ask Him for forgiveness, I ask Him for forgiveness, I ask Him for forgiveness, I ask Him for forgiveness.

فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

And please bestow Your Blessings on Muhammad and his Progeny (as) and pardon me.

وَ أَنْ تَعْفُوَ عَنِّي وَ تَغْفِرَ لِي مَا سَلَفَ مِنْ ذُنُوبِي

And forgive all my past sins.

وَ اسْتَجِبْ يَا سَيِّدِي دُعَائِي

O‟ my Master! Please fulfill my prayers.

فَ إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ التَّوَّابُ الرَّحِيمُ‌

Verily You are the Ever-Relenting, the Merciful!”

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ يَا مَنْ أَحَقَّ الْحَقَّ بِكَلِمَاتِهِ

O Allah, I ask You, O He who has made the truth His Word,

وَ قَطَعَ دَابِرَ الْكَافِرِينَ

and cut off the backs of the disbelievers,

يَا مَنْ‌ يَحُولُ بَيْنَ الْمَرْءِ وَ قَلْبِهِ‌

O He who intervenes between a man and his heart,

يَا مَنْ‌ يَقْبَلُ التَّوْبَةَ عَنْ عِبادِهِ وَ يَأْخُذُ الصَّدَقاتِ‌

O He who accepts repentance from His servants, and takes alms,

يَا مَنِ‌ اشْتَرى‌ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَنْفُسَهُمْ

O He who has purchased from the believers their selves

وَ أَمْوالَهُمْ بِأَنَّ لَهُمُ الْجَنَّةَ

and their wealth in exchange for Paradise for them,

يَا مَنْ مَنَ‌ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ وَ الْمُهاجِرِينَ وَ الْأَنْصارِ

O He who has favored the Prophet, the Muhajirin, and the Ansar,

وَ الَّذِينَ اتَّبَعُوهُ بِإِحْسَانٍ

and those who followed them in goodness,

يَا مَنْ‌ جَعَلَ الشَّمْسَ ضِياءً وَ الْقَمَرَ نُوراً وَ قَدَّرَهُ مَنازِلَ‌

O He who made the sun a shining light and the moon a light, and measured it in stages,

يَا مَنْ لَهُ الْعِزَّةُ جَمِيعاً وَ هُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ‌

O He to whom belongs all dignity, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing,

يَا مَنْ يَحْكُمُ‌ بِالْحَقِ‌ وَ هُوَ خَيْرُ الْحاكِمِينَ‌

O He who judges with truth, and He is the best of judges,

يَا مَنْ‌ يَعْلَمُ ما يُسِرُّونَ وَ ما يُعْلِنُونَ‌

O He who knows what is secret and what is more hidden,

وَ هُوَ عَلِيمٌ بِذاتِ الصُّدُورِ

and He is the Knower of the contents of the chests,

يَا مَنْ أَقَامَ‌ السَّماواتِ وَ الْأَرْضَ فِي سِتَّةِ أَيَّامٍ

O He who established the heavens and the earth in six days

وَ كانَ عَرْشُهُ عَلَى الْماءِ

and His throne was upon water,

يَا قَرِيبُ يَا مُجِيبُ

O Near, O Responder,

يَا مَنْ‌ هُوَ عَلى‌ كُلِّ شَيْ‌ءٍ قَدِيرٌ حَفِيظٌ

O He who is over all things competent and a preserver,

يَا رَاحِمُ [رَحِيمُ‌] يَا وَدُودُ

O Merciful, O Loving,

يَا مَنْ لَهُ‌ غَيْبُ السَّماواتِ وَ الْأَرْضِ

O He to whom belongs the unseen of the heavens and the earth,

وَ إِلَيْهِ يَرْجِعُ الْأَمْرُ كُلُّهُ‌

and to Him returns all affairs,

يَا مَنْ لَا يَيْأَسُ مِنْ رَحْمَتِهِ

O He who does not despair of His mercy

وَ رَوْحِهِ‌ إِلَّا الْقَوْمُ الْكافِرُونَ

and His spirit except the disbelieving people,

‌ أَسْأَلُكَ بِمَا نَاجَيْتُكَ بِهِ مِنْ مِدْحَتِكَ

I ask You with what I have supplicated to You from Your praise,

يَا مَنْ‌ لا يُخْلِفُ الْمِيعادَ

O He who does not break the promise,

يَا مَنْ لَا تَضُرُّهُ الذُّنُوبُ

O He who is not harmed by sins,

يَا مَنْ لَا تَنْقُصُهُ الْمَغْفِرَةُ

O He whose forgiveness does not diminish,

أَعْطِنِي خَيْرَ مَا سَأَلْتُ وَ خَيْرَ مَا قُلْتُ

grant me the best of what I have asked, the best of what I have said,

وَ خَيْرَ مَا ظَهَرَ وَ خَيْرَ مَا بَطَنَ

the best of what is apparent and the best of what is hidden,

وَ خَيْرَ مَا غَابَ وَ خَيْرَ مَا شَهِدَ

the best of what is absent and the best of what is present,

وَ خَيْرَ مَا تَعْلَمُ وَ خَيْرَ مَا تَقْضِي فِي الْعِلْمِ وَ الْأَجَلِ

the best of what You know, the best of what You decree in knowledge and fate,

وَ الْأَمَلِ وَ خَيْرَ الْحَيَاةِ وَ خَيْرَ الْمَمَاتِ

the best of life and the best of death,

وَ خَيْرَ الْقَضَاءِ وَ خَيْرَ الْقَدَرِ

the best of judgment and the best of destiny,

وَ خَيْرَ الْمَسْأَلَةِ وَ خَيْرَ الْإِجَابَةِ

the best of request and the best of response,

وَ خَيْرَ الثَّوَابِ وَ خَيْرَ الْعَطَاءِ

the best of reward, and the best of giving,

وَ خَيْرَ اللَّيْلِ وَ خَيْرَ النَّهَارِ

the best of night and the best of day,

وَ خَيْرَ الدُّنْيَا وَ خَيْرَ الْآخِرَةِ

the best of this world and the best of the Hereafter.

وَ اجْعَلْ ذَلِكَ فِي يُسْرٍ مِنْكَ وَ عَافِيَةٍ

And make it easy and in well-being from You,

فَإِنَّهُ لَا مَانِعَ لِمَا أَعْطَيْتَ

for indeed, there is no preventer of what You give,

وَ لَا مُعْطِيَ لِمَا مَنَعْتَ

nor giver of what You withhold.

اللَّهُمَّ وَ اجْعَلْنِي أَطْلُبُ بِمَا عِنْدِي

O Allah, and make me seek with what I have,

رِضْوَانَكَ وَ النَّعِيمَ الْمُقِيمَ الَّذِي لَا يَزُولُ

Your pleasure and the lasting bliss which does not fade away,

وَ احْشُرْنِي عَلَى وَلَايَةِ نَبِيِّكَ وَ أَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ الطَّاهِرِينَ

and resurrect me under the guardianship of Your Prophet and his pure family.

يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ

O Most Merciful of the merciful,

‌ إِنَّكَ عَلى‌ كُلِّ شَيْ‌ءٍ قَدِيرٌ

indeed, You are capable of all things,

وَ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَى [سَيِّدِنَا] مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ الطَّاهِرِينَ.

and may Allah send blessings upon our master Muhammad and his pure family.

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ يَا خَالِقَ الظُّلُمَاتِ وَ النُّورِ

Allahumma inni as'aluka ya khaliqa az-zulumati wan-nur.

O Allah, I ask You, O Creator of darkness and light.

يَا ذَا الْقُدْرَةِ وَ السُّلْطَانِ وَ الْعَظَمَةِ وَ الْجَبَرُوتِ وَ الْكِبْرِيَاءِ وَ الْمَلَكُوتِ

Ya dhal-qudrati was-sultani wal-azhamati wal-jabaruti wal-kibriyai wal-malakut.

O Possessor of power, authority, greatness, might, majesty, and sovereignty.

يَا مَنْ‌ جَعَلَ اللَّيْلَ سَكَناً وَ الشَّمْسَ وَ الْقَمَرَ حُسْباناً

Ya man ja'ala al-layla sakanan wash-shamsa wal-qamara husbanan.

O He who made the night a time of rest, and the sun and moon as a calculation.

وَ النُّجُومَ مُسَخَّراتٍ بِأَمْرِهِ‌

Wan-nujuma musakhkharatin bi amrih.

And the stars subjugated by His command.

لَكَ الْخَلْقُ وَ الْأَمْرُ تَبَارَكْتَ وَ تَعَالَيْتَ يَا رَبَّ الْعَالَمِينَ

Lakal-khalqu wal-amru tabarakta wa ta'alayta ya Rabbal-'alamin.

To You belongs creation and command; blessed and exalted are You, O Lord of the worlds.

يَا اللَّهُ يَا عَظِيمُ يَا كَرِيمُ يَا كَبِيرُ يَا حَيُّ يَا قَيُّومُ

Ya Allah, ya 'azhim, ya karim, ya kabir, ya hayyu, ya qayyum.

O Allah, O Great, O Generous, O Mighty, O Ever-Living, O Sustainer.

يَا وَاحِدُ يَا أَحَدُ يَا فَرْدُ يَا وَتْرُ يَا صَمَدُ

Ya wahid, ya ahad, ya fard, ya witr, ya samad.

O One, O Unique, O Singular, O Indivisible, O Self-Sufficient.

صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ اسْتَجِبْ فِيمَا دَعَوْتُكَ

Salli 'ala Muhammadin wa ali Muhammad, wastajib fima da'awtuk.

Send blessings upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, and answer what I have prayed for.

وَ أَعْطِنِي مَا سَأَلْتُكَ فَإِنَّكَ‌ تَرْزُقُ مَنْ تَشاءُ بِغَيْرِ حِسابٍ‌

Wa a'tini ma sa'altuk fa innaka tarzuqu man tasha'u bighayri hisab.

And grant me what I have asked You, for indeed You provide to whom You will without account.

اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ افْعَلْ بِي مَا أَنْتَ أَهْلُهُ

Allahumma salli 'ala Muhammadin wa ali Muhammad, waf'al bi ma anta ahluh.

O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and his family, and do with me what You see fit.

إِنَّكَ‌ أَهْلُ التَّقْوى‌ وَ أَهْلُ الْمَغْفِرَةِ

Innaka ahlu attaqwa wa ahlu almaghfirah.

Indeed, You are worthy of reverence and forgiveness.

وَ اجْعَلْنِي مِمَّنْ تَنْتَصِرُ بِهِ لِدِينِكَ وَ تَقْتُلُ بِهِ عَدُوَّكَ

Waj'alni mimman tantasiru bihi lidinik wa taqtulu bihi 'aduw'ak.

And make me among those by whom You grant victory to Your religion and destroy Your enemy.

فِي الصَّفِّ الَّذِي وَصَفْتَ أَهْلَهُ فِي كِتَابِكَ‌ كَأَنَّهُمْ بُنْيانٌ مَرْصُوصٌ‌

Fi assaffi alladhi wasfata ahlahu fi kitabik ka'annahum bunyanun marsus.

In the rank You described in Your Book as though they are a solid structure.

فِي أَحَبِّ خَلْقِكَ إِلَيْكَ فِي أَحَبِّ الْمَوَاطِنِ إِلَيْكَ

Fi ahabbi khalqika ilayka fi ahabbi almawatin ilayk.

Among Your most beloved creation, in the dearest positions to You.

وَ ارْزُقْنِي سَفْكَ دِمَاءِ الْمُشْرِكِينَ وَ النَّاكِثِينَ وَ الْقَاسِطِينَ وَ الْمَارِقِينَ وَ الْفَاسِقِينَ

Warzuqni safka dima' almushrikin wa annakithin wa alqasitin wa almariqin wa alfasiqin.

And grant me the shedding of the blood of the polytheists, the oathbreakers, the oppressors, the deviators, and the corrupt ones.

[وَ النَّابِذِينَ‌] وَ الْكَافِرِينَ وَ الْمُبَدِّلِينَ

[Wannabidhin] walkafirina walmubaddilin.

[And those who reject] and the disbelievers and the ones who alter the truth.

وَ ثَبِّتْ رَجَاءَكَ فِي قَلْبِي وَ ثَبِّتْ قَدَمَيَّ

Wa thabbit raja'aka fi qalbi wa thabbit qadamayya.

And strengthen Your hope in my heart and make my steps firm.

وَ أَفْرِغِ الصَّبْرَ عَلَيَّ وَ عَلَى ذَلِكَ فَقَوِّنِي

Wa afrigh assabra 'alayya wa 'ala dhalika faqawwini.

And pour patience upon me and strengthen me for that.

وَ فِي صُدُورِ الْكَافِرِينَ فَعَظِّمْنِي وَ لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ فَذَلِّلْنِي

Wa fi sudurilkafirina fa'azzimni walilmu'minina fadhalilni.

And make me great in the hearts of the disbelievers, and humble before the believers.

وَ حَبِّبْ إِلَيَّ مَنْ أَحْبَبْتَ وَ بَغِّضْ إِلَيَّ مَنْ‌ بْغَضْتَ

Wa habbib ilayya man ahbabt wa baghidh ilayya man baghidth.

And make beloved to me whom You love, and hateful to me whom You hate.

وَ وَفِّقْنِي لَأَحَبِّ الْأَمْرِ إِلَيْكَ وَ أَرْضَاهَا لَدَيْكَ

Wa waffiqni li'ahabbi alamri ilayka wa ardaha ladayk.

And guide me to what is most beloved to You and most pleasing to You.

وَ أَفْضَلِهَا عِنْدَكَ‌ إِنَّكَ عَلى‌ كُلِّ شَيْ‌ءٍ قَدِيرٌ

Wa afdalaha 'indak innaka 'ala kulli shay'in qadir.

And what is best in Your sight, for indeed You are over all things capable.

اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ أَعْتِقْنِي مِنَ النَّارِ

Allahumma salli 'ala Muhammadin wa ali Muhammad wa a'tiqni min annaar.

O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and his family, and free me from the Fire.

فَإِنِّي مِنْكَ إِلَيْكَ أَفِرُّ

Fa inni minka ilayka afirr.

For indeed, I flee from You to You.

فَلَسْتُ أَخَافُ بِغَيْرِ [غَيْرَ] عَدْلِكَ فَإِيَّاكَ أَسْأَلُ

Fa lastu akhafu bighayri [ghayra] 'adlik fa'iyyaka as'al.

And I do not fear anything except Your justice, so it is You whom I ask.

بِكَ لِأَنَّكَ [إِنَّهُ‌] لَيْسَ أَحَدٌ إِلَّا دُونَكَ

Bika li'annaka [innahu] laysa ahadun illa dounak.

By You, for indeed there is none above You.

وَ أَتَقَرَّبُ إِلَيْكَ بِنِعْمَتِكَ وَ أَدُلُّ عَلَيْكَ بِإِحْسَانِكَ

Wa ataqarabu ilayka bini'matika wa adullu 'alayka bi ihsanik.

And I seek nearness to You through Your blessings and point to You by Your kindness.

فَاغْفِرْ لِي مَا سَتَرْتَ مِنْ غَيْرِكَ مِنْ ذَنْبٍ

Faghfir li ma satarta min ghayrik min dhanbin.

So forgive me for the sins You have concealed from others.

وَ بَارَزْتُكَ بِخَطِيئَتِي مِنْ جَهْلِي

Wa baraztuka bi khati'ati min jahli.

And for the sins I have openly committed against You out of ignorance.

لِلَّذِي خِفْتُ مِنْ خَلْقِكَ وَ رَجَوْتُ مِنْ عَفْوِكَ

Lilladhi khiftu min khalqika wa rajawtu min 'afwik.

For that which I feared from Your creation and hoped for from Your forgiveness.

فَأَمِنْتُ تَعْجِيلَ نَقِمَتِكَ

Fa amintu ta'jila naqmatik.

And I felt safe from the quick arrival of Your punishment.

فَأَوْجِبْ لِي مَا طَمِعْتُ فِيهِ مِنْ رَحْمَتِكَ

Fa awjib li ma tama'tu fihi min rahmatik.

So grant me what I have longed for from Your mercy.

إِذْ عَلِمْتَ ذَلِكَ مِنِّي أَنَّهُ كَذَلِكَ

Idh alimta dhalika minni annahu kadhalik.

Since You know this about me, that it is so.

مَعَ عِلْمِي بِأَنَّكَ تَرَانِي فِي جَمِيعِ حَالاتِي

Ma'a 'ilmi bi annaka tarani fi jami'i halati.

While I know that You see me in all my states.

لَا أَقْدِرُ أَسْتَتِرُ مِنْكَ فِي لَيْلٍ وَ لَا نَهَارٍ

La aqdiru astatira minka fi laylin wa la nahar.

I cannot hide from You in the night or the day.

فِي بَرٍّ وَ لَا بَحْرٍ وَ لَا بِخَرْقٍ مِنَ الْأَرْضِ وَ لَا سَمَاءٍ

Fi barrin wa la bahrin wa la bi kharqin min alard wa la sama'.

On land or at sea, nor in any crevice of the earth or sky.

وَ لَا سَهْلٍ وَ لَا جَبَلٍ

Wa la sahl wa la jabal.

Nor in the plain or the mountain.

وَ لِأَنَّهُ لَا يُوَارِي مِنْكَ لَيْلٌ دَاجٍ

Wa li'annahu la yuwari minka laylun daj.

And because no dark night can conceal me from You.

وَ لَا سَمَاءٌ ذَاتُ أَبْرَاجٍ

Wa la sama'un dhatu abraj.

Nor the sky with its towering constellations.

وَ لَا بَحْرٌ ذُو أَمْوَاجٍ

Wa la bahrun dhu amwaj.

Nor the sea with its roaring waves.

وَ لَا أَرْضٌ ذَاتُ فِجَاجٍ

Wa la ardun dhatu fijaj.

Nor the earth with its wide paths.

وَ لَا جِبَالٌ ذَاتُ أَنْبَاجٍ

Wa la jibaalun dhatu anbaj.

Nor mountains with their rugged slopes.

عَارِفٌ بِرُبُوبِيَّتِكَ مُقِرٌّ بِوَحْدَانِيَّتِكَ

'Arifun bi rububiyyatik, muqirr bi wahdaniyyatik.

I acknowledge Your Lordship and confess Your Oneness.

أَحَطْتَ خُبْراً بِأَهْلِ سَمَاوَاتِكَ وَ أَرْضِكَ

Ahatt khubra bi ahl samawatik wa ardhik.

You have full knowledge of the inhabitants of Your heavens and earth.

لَا يَشْغَلُكَ شَيْ‌ءٌ عَنْ شَيْ‌ءٍ

La yashghaluka shay'un 'an shay'.

Nothing distracts You from anything.

لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ وَحْدَكَ لَا شَرِيكَ لَكَ

La ilaha illa anta wahdaka la sharika lak.

There is no god but You alone, without partner.

وَ أَنْتَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْ‌ءٍ قَدِيرٌ

Wa anta 'ala kulli shay'in qadir.

And You have power over all things.

وَ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَى سَيِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ وَ سَلَّمَ.

Wa salla Allahu 'ala sayyidina Muhammadin wa alihi wa sallam.

And may Allah send blessings upon our master Muhammad and his family, and grant them peace.

اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ رَبِّي لَا إِلَهَ لِي غَيْرُكَ أُوَحِّدُهُ وَ لَا رَبَّ لِي سِوَاكَ

“O‟ my God! You are my Lord! There is no God for me but You alone!

أَعْبُدُهُ أَنْتَ الْوَاحِدُ الْأَحَدُ الصَّمَدُ الَّذِي‌ لَمْ يَلِدْ وَ لَمْ يُولَدْ وَ لَمْ يَكُنْ‌ لَكَ‌ [لَهُ‌] كُفُواً أَحَدٌ

There are no Gods for me to worship but You. You are the One and Only! The Eternal, Absolute One who „begetteth not, nor is He begotten; And there is none like unto Him!‟

وَ كَيْفَ يَكُونُ كُفْوٌ مِنَ الْمَخْلُوقِينَ [لِلْخَالِقِ‌] وَ مِنَ الْمَرْزُوقِينَ لِلرَّازِقِ

How could any of the creatures equal the Creator and any of those provided for equal the Provider

وَ مَنْ لَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ لِأَنْفُسِهِمْ نَفْعاً وَ لَا ضَرّاً وَ لا يَمْلِكُونَ مَوْتاً وَ لا حَياةً وَ لا نُشُوراً

while they cannot even provide for themselves any benefits or losses, and do not have any control over their own death, life and resurrection.

هُوَ مَالِكُ ذَلِكَ كُلِّهِ بِعَطِيَّتِهِ وَ تَحْرِيمِهِ وَ يَبْتَلِي بِهِ وَ يُعَافِي مِنْهُ‌ لا يُسْئَلُ عَمَّا يَفْعَلُ وَ هُمْ يُسْئَلُونَ‌

He has authority over all these by bestowing, depriving, making suffer or granting well-being. He shall not be questioned regarding what He does, but they will be questioned.

إِلَهِي وَ سَيِّدِي مَا أَغَبَّ شَهْرَ الصِّيَامِ [رَمَضَانَ‌] إِلَى جَانِبِ الْفَنَاءِ وَ أَنْتَ الْبَاقِي وَ آذَنَ بِالانْقِضَاءِ وَ أَنْتَ الدَّائِمُ

O‟ my God! O‟ my Master! The month of fasting is nearing its end but You are the Everlasting! It is passing but You are Eternal!

وَ هُوَ الَّذِي عَظَّمْتَ حَقَّهُ فَعَظُمَ وَ كَرَّمْتَهُ فَكَرُمَ وَ إِنَّ لِي فِيهِ الزَّلَّاتِ كَثِيرَةً وَ الْهَفَوَاتِ عَظِيمَةً

It is the month whose right You have exalted, whose honor You have honored. I have great sins and great frivolities.

إِنْ قَاصَصْتَنِي بِهَا كَانَ شَهْرَ شَقَاوَتِي وَ إِنْ سَمَحْتَ لِي بِهَا كَانَ شَهْرَ سَعَادَتِي

If You punish me for them, this month will be the month of my wretchedness. However, if You forgive me, it will be the month of my prosperity.

اللَّهُمَّ وَ كَمَا أَسْعَدْتَنِي بِالْإِقْرَارِ بِرُبُوبِيَّتِكَ مُبْدِئاً [مُبْتَدِئاً] فَأَسْعِدْنِي بِرَحْمَتِكَ وَ رَأْفَتِكَ وَ تَمْحِيصِكَ وَ سَمَاحَتِكَ مُعِيداً

O‟ My God! As You granted me prosperity in its beginning to confess to Your Lordship, please grant me prosperity at its end by Your Mercy, Kindness, Purification and Your Continuous Generosity.

فَ إِنَّكَ عَلى‌ كُلِّ شَيْ‌ءٍ قَدِيرٌ وَ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ وَ سَلَّمَ كَثِيراً.

Verily You have power over all things. Please bestow Your Blessings on Muhammad and his Holy Household (as) and greet them many times.‟ ”
