The 15th Shaaban Night

السَّلامُ عَلَيْكَ يا أَبا عَبْدِ الله السَّلامُ عَلَيْكَ وَرَحْمَةُ الله وَبَرَكاتُهُ

Peace be upon you, O Abu Abdullah. Peace be upon you, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.

اللّهُمَّ بِحَقِّ لَيْلَتِنا وَمَوْلُودِها وَحُجَّتِكَ وَمَوْعُودِها الَّتِي قَرَنْتَ إِلى فَضْلِها فَضْلاً فَتَمَّتْ كَلِمَتُكَ صِدْقاً وَعَدْلاً ، لا مُبَدِّلَ لِكَلِماتِكَ وَلا مُعَقِّبَ لآياتِكَ نُورُكَ المُتَأَلِّقُ وَضِياؤُكَ المُشْرِقُ وَالعَلَمُ النُّورُ فِي طَخْياء الدَيْجُورِ ، الغائِبُ المَسْتُورُ جَلَّ مَوْلِدُهُ وَكَرُمَ مَحْتِدُهُ وَالمَلائِكَةُ شُهَّدُهُ وَالله ناصِرُهُ وَمُؤَيِّدُهُ إذا آنَ مِيعادُهُ وَالمَلائِكَةُ أَمْدادُهُ ، سَيْفُ الله الَّذِي لايَنْبُو وَنُورُهُ الَّذِي لا يَخْبُو وَذُو الحِلْمِ الَّذِي لايَصْبُو مَدارُ الدَّهْرِ وَنَوامِيسُ العَصْرِ وَوُلاةُ الأمْرِ وَالمُنَزَّلُ عَلَيْهِمْ مايَتَنَزَّلُ فِي لَيْلَةَ القَدْرِ وَأَصْحابُ الحَشْرِ وَالنَشْرِ تَراجِمَةُ وَحْيِهِ وَوُلاةُ أَمْرِهِ وَنَهْيِهِ. اللّهُمَّ فَصَلِّ عَلى خاتِمِهِمْ وَقائِمِهِمْ المَسْتُورِ عَنْ عَوالِمِهِمْ ، اللّهُمَّ وَادْرِكْ بِنا أَيَّامَهُ وَظُهُورَهُ وَقِيامَهُ وَاجْعَلْنا مِنْ انْصارِهِ وَاقْرِنْ ثَأْرَنا بِثَأْرِهِ وَاكْتُبْنا فِي أَعْوانِهِ وَخُلَصائِهِ وَاحْيِنا فِي دَوْلَتِهِ ناعِمِينَ وَبِصُحْبَتِهِ غانِمِينَ وَبِحَقِّهِ قائِمِينَ وَمِنَ السُّوءِ سالِمِينَ يا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ وَالحَمْدُ للهِ رَبِّ العالَمِينَ وَصَلَواتُهُ عَلى سَيِّدِنا مُحَمَّدٍ خاتَمِ النَّبِيِّنَ وَالمُرْسَلِينَ وَعَلى أَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ الصَّادِقِينَ وَعِتْرَتِهِ النَّاطِقِينَ وَالعَنْ جَمِيعَ الظَّالِمِينَ وَاحْكُمْ بَيْنَنا وَبَيْنَهُمْ يا أَحْكَمَ الحاكِمِينَ

O Allah, by the right of this night and the one born therein, and Your proof and what You have promised of it, to whose merit You added further merit; and Your word was perfected in truth and justice — none can alter Your words and none can reverse Your signs — Your radiant light and Your shining brightness, the luminous banner in the depth of darkness, the hidden and concealed one. Exalted is his birth and noble is his origin; the angels are his witnesses, and Allah is his helper and supporter when his appointed time comes, and the angels are his reinforcement. He is the sword of Allah that never fails, and His light that never fades, and the forbearing one who never errs. He is the axis of time, the guardians of the era, the authorities of command, and those upon whom descends what descends on the Night of Decree, and the companions of the gathering and the resurrection, the interpreters of His revelation and the authorities of His command and prohibition. O Allah, send blessings upon the last of them and their Qa'im who is concealed from their worlds. O Allah, let us witness his days and his appearance and his rising, and make us among his supporters, and join our cause with his cause, and write us among his helpers and his close companions. Let us live in his state in comfort, and gain by his companionship, and stand for his right, and be safe from harm, O Most Merciful of the merciful. And all praise belongs to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and His blessings be upon our master Muhammad, the seal of the Prophets and Messengers, and upon his truthful household, and his speaking progeny. And curse all the oppressors, and judge between us and them, O Most Just of Judges.

اللّهُمَّ أَنْتَ الحَيُّ القَيُّومُ العَلِيُّ العَظِيمُ الخالِقُ الرَّازِقُ المُحْيِي المُمِيْتُ البَدِيُ البَدِيعُ ، لَكَ الجَلالُ وَلَكَ الفَضْلُ وَلَكَ الحَمْدُ وَلَكَ المَنُّ وَلَكَ الجُودُ وَلَكَ الكَرَمُ وَلَكَ الاَمْرُ وَلَكَ المَجْدُ وَلَكَ الشُّكْرُ وَحْدَكَ لا شَرِيكَ لَكَ ، يا واِحُد يا أحَدُ يا صَمَدُ يا مَنْ لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ كُفُوا أَحَدٌ ؛ صَلِّ عَلى مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَاغْفِرْ لِي وَارْحَمْنِي وَاكْفِنِي ما أَهَمَّنِي وَاقْضِ دَيْنِي وَوَسِّعْ عَلَيَّ فِي رِزْقِي ، فَإِنَّكَ فِي هذِهِ الليْلَةِ كُلَّ أَمْرٍ حَكِيمٍ تُفَرِّقُ وَمَنْ تَشاءُ مِنْ خَلْقِكَ تَرْزُقُ فَارْزُقْنِي وَأَنْتَ خَيْرُ الرَّازِقِينَ ، فَإِنَّكَ قُلْتَ وَأَنْتَ خَيْرُ القائِلِينَ النَّاِطِقينَ : (وَاسْأَلُوا الله مِنْ فَضْلِهِ) فَمِنْ فَضْلِكَ أَسْأَلُ وَإِيَّاكَ قَصَدْتُ وَابْنَ نَبِيِّكَ اعْتَمَدْتُ وَلَكَ رَجَوْتُ فَارْحَمْنِي يا أرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ

O Allah, You are the Ever-Living, the Self-Subsisting, the Most High, the Most Great, the Creator, the Provider, the Giver of life, the Causer of death, the Originator, the Inventor. To You belongs majesty, to You belongs bounty, to You belongs praise, to You belongs grace, to You belongs generosity, to You belongs nobility, to You belongs command, to You belongs glory, to You belongs gratitude — You alone, with no partner. O One, O Unique, O Self-Sufficient, O He who begets not and is not begotten, and there is none comparable unto Him. Send blessings upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, and forgive me, and have mercy on me, and suffice me in what concerns me, and settle my debt, and expand my sustenance. For indeed on this night You ordain every wise matter, and You provide for whomever You will among Your creation; so provide for me, and You are the best of providers. For indeed You have said, and You are the best of those who speak: 'Ask Allah of His bounty.' So of Your bounty I ask, and You I seek, and upon the son of Your Prophet I rely, and in You I hope; so have mercy on me, O Most Merciful of the merciful.

اللّهُمَّ اقْسِمْ لَنا مِنْ خَشْيَتِكَ مايحَوُلُ بَيْنَنا وَبَيْنَ مَعْصِيَتِكَ وَمِنْ طاعَتِكَ ماتُبَلِّغُنا بِهِ رِضْوانَكَ وَمِنَ اليَّقِينِ مايَهُونُ عَلَيْنا بِهِ مُصِيباتُ الدُّنْيا ، اللّهُمَّ أَمْتِعْنا بِأَسْماعِنا وَأَبْصارِنا وَقُوَّتِنا ما أَحْيَيْتَنا وَاجْعَلْهُ الوارِثَ مِنَّا وَاجْعَلْ ثأْرَنا عَلى مَنْ ظَلَمَنا وَانْصُرْنا عَلى مَنْ عادانا وَلا تَجْعَلْ مُصِيبَتَنا فِي دِينِنا وَلا تَجْعَلْ الدُّنْيا أَكْبَر هَمِّنا وَلا مَبْلَغَ عِلْمِنا ، وَلا تُسَلِّطْ عَلَيْنا مَنْ لا يَرْحَمُنا بِرَحْمَتِكَ يا أرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ.

O Allah, apportion for us from Your awe that which will stand between us and acts of disobedience to You, and from Your obedience that which will deliver us to Your good pleasure, and from certainty that which will make the afflictions of this world easy upon us. O Allah, let us enjoy our hearing, our sight, and our strength as long as You keep us alive, and make it our heir. Let our vengeance be upon those who have wronged us, and support us against those who show enmity toward us. Let not our misfortune be in our religion, and let not this world be our greatest concern nor the extent of our knowledge. And do not give authority over us to those who will show us no mercy, by Your mercy, O Most Merciful of the merciful.

سُبْحانَ الله وَالحَمْدُ للهِ وَلا إِلهَ إِلاّ الله وَالله أَكْبَرُ

Glory be to Allah, and praise belongs to Allah, and there is no god but Allah, and Allah is the Greatest.

Allahu-akbar

يا مَنْ إِلَيْهِ مَلْجأُ العِبادِ فِي المُهِمَّاِت وَإِلّيْهِ يَفْزَعُ الخَلْقُ فِي المُلِمَّاتِ يا عالِمَ الجَهْرِ وَالخَفِيَّاتِ يا مَنْ لاتَخْفى عَلَيْهِ خَواطِرُ الاَوْهامِ وَتَصرُّفُ الخَطَراتِ يا رَبَّ الخَلائِقِ وَالبَرِيَّاِت يا مَنْ بِيَدِهِ مَلَكُوتُ الأَرْضِينَ وَالسَّماواتِ ، أَنْتَ الله لا إِلهَ إِلاّ أَنْتَ أَمُتُّ إِلَيْكَ بِلا إِلهَ إِلاّ أَنْتَ فَيا لا إِلهَ إِلاّ أَنْتَ اجْعَلْنِي فِي هذِهِ الليْلَةِ مِمَّنْ نَظَرْتَ إِلَيْهِ فَرَحِمْتَهُ وَسَمِعْتَ دُعائَهُ فَأَجَبْتَهُ وَعَلِمْتَ اسْتِقالَتَهُ فَأَقَلْتَهُ وَتَجاوَزْتَ عَنْ سالِفِ خَطِيئَتِهِ وَعَظِيمِ جَرِيرَتِهِ فَقَدْ اسْتَجَرْتُ بِكَ مِنْ ذُنُوبِي وَلَجَأْتُ إِلَيْكَ فِي سَتْرِ عُيُوبِي ، اللّهُمَّ فَجُدْ عَلَيَّ بِكَرَمِكَ وَفَضْلِكَ وَاحْطُطْ خَطايايَ بِحِلْمِكَ وَعَفْوِكَ وَتَغَمَّدْنِي فِي هذِهِ اللَّيْلَةِ بِسابِغِ كَرامَتِكَ وَاجْعَلْنِي فِيها مِنْ أَوْلِيائِكَ الَّذِينَ اجْتَبَيْتَهُمْ لِطاعَتِكَ وَاخْتَرْتَهُمْ لِعِبادَتِكَ وَجَعَلْتَهُمْ خالِصَتَكَ وَصَفْوَتَكَ ، اللّهُمَّ اجْعَلْنِي مِمَّنْ سَعَدَ جَدُّهُ وَتَوَفَّرَ مِنَ الخَيْراتِ حَظُّهُ وَاجْعَلْنِي مِمَّنْ سَلِمَ فَنَعِمَ وَفازَ فَغَنِمَ وَاكْفِنِي شَرَّ ما أَسْلَفْتُ وَاعْصِمْنِي مِنَ الازْدِيادِ فِي مَعْصِيَتِكَ وَحَبِّبْ إلى طاعَتَكَ وَما يُقَرِّبُنِي مِنْكَ وَيُزْلِفُنِي عِنْدَكَ. سَيِّدِي ، إِلَيْكَ يَلْجَأُ الهارِبُ وَمِنْكَ يَلْتَمِسُ الطَّالِبُ وَعَلى كَرَمِكَ يَعِّولُ المُسْتَقِيلُ التائبُ أَدَّبْتَ عِبادَكَ بِالتَّكَرُّمِ وَأَنْتَ أَكْرَمُ الاَكْرَمِينَ وَأَمَرْتَ بِالعَفْوِ عِبادَكَ وَأَنْتَ الغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ ، اللّهُمَّ فَلا تَحْرِمْنِي ما رَجَوْتُ مِنْ كَرَمِكَ وَلا تُؤْيِسْنِي مِنْ سابِغِ نِعَمِكَ وَلا تُخَيِّبْنِي مِنْ جَزِيلِ قِسَمِكَ فِي هذِهِ اللَّيْلَةِ لاَهْلِ طاعَتِكَ وَاجْعَلْنِي فِي جَنَّةٍ مِنْ شِرارِ بَرِيَّتِكَ. رَبِّ ، إِنْ لْم أَكُنْ مِنْ أَهْلِ ذلِكَ فَأَنْتَ أَهْلُ الكَرَمِ وَالعَفْوِ وَالمَغْفِرَةِ وَجُدْ عَلَيَّ بِما أَنْتَ أَهْلُهُ لا بِما أَسْتَحِقُّهُ فَقَدْ حَسُنَ ظَنِّي بِكَ وَتَحَقَّقَ رَجائِي لَكَ وَعَلِقَتْ نَفْسِي بِكَرَمِكَ فَأَنْتَ أَرْحَمُ الرَّاحِمِينَ وَأَكْرَمُ الاَكْرَمِينَ ، اللّهُمَّ وَاخْصُصْنِي مِنْ كَرَمِكَ بِجَزِيلِ قسمِكَ وَأَعوذُ بِعَفْوِكَ مِنْ عُقُوبَتِكَ وَاغْفِرْ لِي الذَّنْبَ الَّذِي يَحْبِسُ عَلَيَّ الخُلُقَ وَيُضيِّقُ عَلَيَّ الرِّزْقَ حَتّى أَقُومَ بصالِحِ رِضاكَ وَانْعَمَ بِجَزِيلِ عَطائِكَ وَأَسْعَدَ بِسابِغِ نَعْمائِكَ ، فَقَدْ لُذْتُ بِحَرَمِكَ وَتَعَرَّضْتُ لِكَرَمِكَ وَاسْتَعَذْتُ بِعَفْوِكَ مِنْ عُقُوبَتِكَ وبِحِلْمِكَ مِنْ غَضَبِكَ فَجُدْ بِما سَأَلْتُكَ وَأَنِلْ ماالتَمَسْتُ مِنْكَ أَسْأَلُكَ بِكَ لا بِشَيٍْ هُوَ أَعْظَمُ مِنْكَ.

O He to whom servants resort in times of need, and to whom creation turns in calamities. O Knower of what is open and what is hidden. O He from whom the thoughts of imagination and the movements of the mind are not concealed. O Lord of all creatures and creation. O He in whose hand is the dominion of the earths and the heavens. You are Allah, there is no god but You. I come to You by means of 'there is no god but You.' So, O 'there is no god but You,' make me on this night among those whom You looked upon and showed mercy, and whose supplication You heard and answered, and whose plea for pardon You knew and accepted, and whose past sins and grave offenses You overlooked. For I have sought Your protection from my sins and taken refuge with You in covering my faults. O Allah, be generous with me through Your nobility and grace, and forgive my errors through Your forbearance and pardon, and envelop me on this night with Your abundant honor, and make me therein among Your friends whom You selected for Your obedience, and chose for Your worship, and made Your elite and Your chosen ones. O Allah, make me among those whose fortune is blessed and whose share of good is ample. Make me among those who are safe and in bliss, who succeed and gain. Suffice me against the evil of what I have done in the past, and protect me from further disobedience to You, and make me love Your obedience and that which draws me near to You and brings me close in Your sight. My Master, to You the fugitive resorts, and from You the seeker requests, and upon Your generosity the repentant penitent relies. You have disciplined Your servants with generosity, and You are the most generous of the generous; and You have commanded Your servants to pardon, and You are the All-Forgiving, the Merciful. O Allah, do not deprive me of what I have hoped for from Your generosity, and do not disappoint me of Your ample blessings, and do not deny me Your bountiful portion on this night for the people of Your obedience, and place me in a sanctuary from the evil of Your creatures. My Lord, if I am not deserving of that, then You are deserving of generosity, pardon, and forgiveness. So bestow upon me according to what You are worthy of, not what I deserve. For my opinion of You has been good, and my hope in You has been confirmed, and my soul has clung to Your generosity; for You are the Most Merciful of the merciful and the Most Generous of the generous. O Allah, single me out from Your generosity with a bountiful portion, and I seek refuge in Your pardon from Your punishment, and forgive me the sin that withholds good character from me and restricts my sustenance, until I stand in righteousness pleasing to You, and enjoy Your generous gift, and attain happiness through Your abundant blessings. For I have taken shelter in Your sanctuary, and exposed myself to Your generosity, and sought refuge in Your pardon from Your punishment, and in Your forbearance from Your wrath. So grant what I have asked You and bestow what I have sought from You. I ask You by You, for nothing is greater than You.

يا رَبّ

O Lord!

يا الله

O Allah!

لا حَوْلَ وَلا قُوَّةَ إِلاّ بِالله

There is no power and no strength except with Allah.

ما شاءَ الله

Whatever Allah wills shall come to pass.

لا قُوَّةَ إِلاّ بِالله

There is no strength except with Allah.

إِلهِي تَعَرَّضَ لَكَ فِي هذا اللَّيْلِ المُتَعَرِّضُونَ وَقَصَدَكَ القاصِدُونَ وَأَمَّلَ فَضْلَكَ وَمَعْرُوفَكَ الطَّالِبُونَ وَلَكَ فِي هذا اللَّيْلِ نَفَحاتٌ وَجَوائِزُ وَعَطايا وَمَواهِبُ تَمُنُّ بِها عَلى مَنْ تَشاءُ مِنْ عِبادِكَ وَتَمْنَعُها مَنْ لَمْ تَسْبِقْ لَهُ العِنايَةُ مِنْكَ ، وَها أَنا ذا عُبَيْدُكَ الفَقِيرُ إِلَيْكَ المُؤَمِّلُ فَضْلَكَ وَمَعْرُوفَكَ ، فَإِنْ كُنْتَ يا مَوْلاي تَفَضَّلْتَ فِي هذِهِ اللَّيْلَةِ عَلى أَحَدٍ مِنْ خَلْقِكَ وَعُدْتَ عَلَيْهِ بِعائِدَةٍ مِنْ عَطْفِكَ فَصَلِّ عَلى مُحَمَّدٍ وآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ الطَيِّبِينَ الطَّاهِرِينَ الخَيِّرِينَ الفاضِلِينَ ، وَجُدْ عَلَيَّ بِطَوْلِكَ وَمَعْرُوفِكَ يا رَبَّ العالَمينَ ، وَصَلَّى الله عَلى مُحَمَّدٍ خاتَمِ النَّبِيِّينَ وَآلِهِ الطَّاهِرِينَ وَسَلَّمَ تَسْلِيماً ، إِنَ الله حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ. اللّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَدْعُوكَ كَما أَمَرْتَ فَاسْتَجِبْ لِي كَما وَعَدْتَ إِنَّكَ لا تُخْلِفُ المِيعادَ

My God, those who seek have turned to You on this night, and the seekers have set out toward You, and those who hope have desired Your bounty and Your favor. And You have on this night gifts and prizes and grants and endowments that You bestow upon whomever You will of Your servants, and You withhold them from those for whom prior care from You has not been decreed. And here I am, Your lowly servant, needy before You, hopeful of Your bounty and Your kindness. So if You, O my Master, have bestowed Your grace on this night upon any of Your creation, and returned to them with a favor from Your compassion, then send blessings upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, the good, the pure, the virtuous, the excellent; and be generous to me with Your magnanimity and kindness, O Lord of the worlds. And may Allah send blessings upon Muhammad, the seal of the Prophets, and his pure family, and grant abundant peace. Verily, Allah is Praiseworthy, Glorious. O Allah, I call upon You as You have commanded, so respond to me as You have promised; indeed, You do not break Your promise.

سَجدَ لَكَ سَوادِي وَخَيالِي وَآمَنَ بِكَ فُؤادِي هذِهِ يَدايَ وَما جَنَيْتُهُ عَلى نَفْسِي يا عَظِيمُ تُرْجى لُكُلِّ عَظيمٍ اغْفِرْ لِيَ العَظِيمَ فَإنَّهُ لا يَغْفِرُ الذَّنْبَ العَظِيمَ إِلاّ الرَبُّ العَظِيمُ.

My darkness and my imagination prostrate to You, and my heart believes in You. These are my two hands and what I have committed against myself. O Tremendous One, who is hoped for in every tremendous matter, forgive me the tremendous sin, for none forgives the tremendous sin except the Tremendous Lord.

أَعُوذُ بِنُورِ وَجْهِكَ الَّذِي أَضائَتْ لَهُ السَّماواتُ وَالأَرْضُونَ وانْكَشَفَتْ لَهُ الظُّلُماتُ وَصَلَحَ عَلَيْهِ أَمْرُ الأوّلِينَ وَالآخِرِينَ مِنْ فُجأَةِ نَقِمَتِكَ وَمِنْ تَحْوِيلِ عافِيَتِكَ وَمِنْ زَوالِ نِعْمَتِكَ ، اللّهُمَّ ارْزُقْنِي قَلْباً تَقِيّاً نَقِيّاً وَمِنَ الشِّرْكِ بَرِيئاً لا كافِراً وَلا شَقِيّاً.

I seek refuge in the light of Your countenance by which the heavens and the earths are illuminated, and by which the darknesses are dispelled, and upon which the affairs of the first and the last are set right — from the suddenness of Your retribution, from the withdrawal of Your well-being, and from the removal of Your blessings. O Allah, grant me a heart that is pious and pure, free from polytheism, neither faithless nor wretched.

عَفَّرْتُ وَجْهِي فِي التُّرابِ وَحُقَّ لِي أَنْ أَسْجُدَ لَكَ.

I have rubbed my face in the dust, and it is fitting that I prostrate to You.

اللّهُمَّ إِنِّي إِلَيْكَ فَقِيرٌ وَمِنْ عَذابِكَ خائِفٌ مُسْتَجِيرٌ ، اللّهُمَّ لا تُبَدِّلْ اسْمِي وَلا تُغَيِّرْ جِسْمِي وَلا تَجْهَدْ بَلائِي وَلا تُشْمِتْ بِي أَعْدائِي ، أَعُوذُ بِعَفْوِكَ مِنْ عِقابِكَ وَأَعُوذُ بِرَحْمَتِكَ مِنْ عَذابِكَ وَأَعُوذُ بِرِضاكَ مِنْ سَخَطِكَ وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْكَ جَلَّ ثَناؤُكَ أَنْتَ كَما أَثْنَيْتَ عَلى نَفْسِكَ وَفَوْقَ ما يَقُولُ القائِلُونَ

O Allah, I am needy before You and fearful of Your punishment, seeking Your refuge. O Allah, do not alter my name, do not change my body, do not make my trial severe, and do not let my enemies rejoice over me. I seek refuge in Your pardon from Your punishment, and I seek refuge in Your mercy from Your chastisement, and I seek refuge in Your pleasure from Your displeasure, and I seek refuge in You from You. Exalted is Your praise; You are as You have praised Yourself, and beyond whatever the speakers say.

اللهم إنك عليم حليم ذو أناةٍ و لا طاقة لنا بحُكمك بحلمك يا الله يا الله يا اللّــــــه الأمان الأمان الأمان

Allaahumma Innak A’zeemun D’u Anaatin Wa Laa T’aaqata Lanaa Li—h’ukmika Yaa Allah Yaa Allah Yaa Allah Al —amaan Al —amaan Al —amaan;

O Allah, verily Thou art Sublime, Patient, gives respite, (because) we do not have the capacity to withstand the conditions that take effect under Thy authority. O Allah! O Allah! O Allah! Mercy! Mercy! Mercy!

من الطاعون و الوباء و موتِ الفجأة و سوء القضاء و و شماتة الأعداء ربنا اكشف عنا العذاب إنا مؤمنون برحمتك يا أرحم الراحمين

allahumma bihaqqi laylatinahadhihi wa mawludiha

O Allah: I beseech You in the name of this night and in the name of him whom was born at it

سُبْحَانَ اللّهِ وَالْحَمْدُ لِلّهِ وَلا إلهَ إلاَّ اللّه وَاللّهُ أَك ْبَرُ

wa hujjtika wa maw`udiha

and in the name of Your Argument and in the name of Your promise in it,

السَّلامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ اللّه السَّلامُ عَلَيْكَ وَرَحْمَةُ اللّه وَبَرَكَاتُهُ

allaty qaranta ilafadlihafadlan

the night that You have added a new merit to its many merits

اللّهُمَّ بِحَقِّ لَيْلَتِنَا هذِهِ وَمَوْلُودِهَا

fatammt kalimatuka sidqan wa `adlan

So, Your Word has been accomplished truly and fairly;

وَحُجَّتِكَ وَمَوْعُودِهَا،

lamubaddla likalimatika

no one can change Your words,

الَّتِي قَرَنْتَ إلَى فَضْلِهَا فَضْلاً،

wa lamu`aqqba li-ayatika

nor obscure Your signs,

فَتَمَّتْ كَلِمَتُكَ صِدْقاً وَعَدْلاً،

nuruka almutalliqu

(He is) Your glowing Light

لا مُبَدِّلَ لِكَلِمَاتِكَ،

wa diau´uka almushriqu

and Your bring splendor

وَلا مُعَقِّبَ لآيَاتِكَ،

wal-`alamu alnnuru fi takhya‘i alddayjuri

and the luminous sign in the obscurity of darkness

نُورُكَ الْمُتَأَلِّقُ،

algha’ibu almasturu

and the absent and the concealed,

وَضِيَاؤُكَ الْمُشْرِقُ،

jalla mawliduhu wa karuma mahtiduhu

Lofty is his birth and noble is his lineage

وَالْعَلَمُ النُّورُ فِي طَخْيَاءِ الدَّيْجُورِ،

wal-mala’ikatu shuhhaduhu

and the angels are his witnesses

الْغَائِبُ الْمَسْتُورُ

wallahu nasiruhu wa mu´ayyduhu

and Allah is his Supporter and Backer

جَلَّ مَوْلِدُهُ، وَكَرُمَ مَحْتِدُهُ،

idhaana mi`aduhu wal-mala’ikatu amdaduhu

when his time comes and the angels shall be his sponsors;

وَالْمَلائِكَةُ شُهَّدُهُ،

sayfu allahi alladhy layanbu

(He shall act as) the sword of Allah that shall never miss the target,

وَاللّهُ نَاصِرُهُ وَمُؤَيِّدُهُ،

wa nuruhu alladhy layakhbu

and His light that shall never be extinguished

إذَا آنَ مِيعَادُهُ وَالْمَلائِكَةُ أَمْدَادُهُ،

wa dhu alhilmi alladhy layasbu

And the forbearing person who shall never deviate the truth.

سَيْفُ اللّهِ الَّذِي لا يَنْبُو،

madaru alddhri

and the motive and reason of the course of events,

وَنُورُهُ الَّذِي لا يَخْبُو،

wa nawamisu al`asri

and the one for whom the laws of ages have been made

وَذُو الْحِلْمِ الَّذِي لا يَصْبُو،

wa wulatu alamri

and (one of) the men of authority

مَدَارُ الدَّهْرِ،

wal-munazzalu `alayhim mayatanazzalu fi laylati alqadri

who receive that which is revealed on the Grand Night.

وَنَوَامِيسُ الْعَصْرِ،

wa ashabu alhashri wal-nnashri

and the managers of the Resurrection and the Account;

وَوُلاةُ الأَمْرِ،

tarajimatu wahyihi

(They are) the interpreters of His revelations

وَالْمُنَزَّلُ عَلَيْهِمْ مَا يَتَنَزَّلُ فِي لَيْلَةِ الْقَدْرِ،

wa wulatu amrihi wa nahiihi

and in charge of what is deemed lawful and what is deemed unlawful by Him.

وَأَصْحَابُ الْحَشْرِ وَالنَّشْرِ،

allahumma fasalli `alakhatimihim wa qa’imihim

O Allah: send blessings on their seal and their Riser

تَرَاجِمَةُ وَحْيِهِ،

almasturi `an `awalimihim

whom is hidden from their world.

وَوُلاةُ أَمْرِهِ وَنَهْيِهِ.

allahumma wa adrik binaayyamahu

O Allah: (please) make us causes for the coming of him,

اللّهُمَّ فَصَلِّ عَلَى خَاتِمِهِمْ وَقَائِمِهِمُ

wa zuhurahu wa qiyamahu

and causes for his advent and reappearance

الْمَسْتُورِ عَنْ عَوَالِمِهِمْ.

waj`alnamin ansarihi

and (please) include us with his supporters

اللّهُمَّ وَأَدْرِكْ بِنَا أَيَّامَهُ

waqrin tha’ranabitha’rihi

and join our vengeance to his

وَظُهُورَهُ وَقِيَامَهُ،

waktubnafi a`wanihi wa khulasa’ihi

and decide us to be among his assistants and retinue.

وَاجْعَلْنَا مِنْ أَنْصَارِهِ،

wa ahiinafi dawlatihi na`imina

and make us live in bliss in his reign,

وَاقْرِنْ ثأْرَنَا بِثَأْرِهِ،

wa bisuhbatihi ghanimina

and make us win the ecstasy of his companionship,

وَاكْتُبْنَا فِي أَعْوَانِهِ وَخُلَصَائِهِ،

wa bihaqqhi qa’imina

and make us of those who carry out our duty toward him,

وَأَحْيِنَا فِي دَوْلَتِهِ نَاعِمِينَ،

wa mina alssu‘I salimina

and save us from evil.

وَبِصُحْبَتِهِ غَانِمِينَ،

yaarhama alrrahimina

O the most Merciful of all those who show mercy.

وَبِحَقِّهِ قَائِمِينَ،

walhamdu lillahi rabbi al`alamina

All praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds.

وَمِنَ السُّوءِ سَالِمِينَ،

wa salawatuhu `alasayydinamuhammadin

His blessings be upon our master, Muhammad

يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ،

khatami alnnabiyyina wal-mursalina

the seal of the Prophets and the Messengers,

وَالْحَمْدُ لِلّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ،

wa `alaahli baytihi alssadiqina

and upon his Household, the veracious,

وَصَلَوَاتُهُ عَلَى سَيِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍ

wa `itratihi alnnatiqina

and his offspring, the spokespersons of the truth,

خَاتَمِ النَّبِيِّينَ وَالْمُرْسَلِينَ

wal-`an jami`a alzzalimina

and curse all the wrongdoers

وَعَلَى أَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ الصَّادِقِينَ

wahkum baynanawa baynahum

and judge between them and us

وَعِتْرَتِهِ النَّاطِقِينَ،

ya ahkama alhakimina

O the Most Just of all judges.

وَالْعَنْ جَمِيعَ الظَّالِمِينَ،

Alhamdu lillahi al`aliyy al`azimi

All praise be to Allah; the Most High, the All-great.

وَاحْكُمْ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَهُمْ

wa alssalamu `alayka ayyuhaal`abdu alSSalihu alzzakiyy

Peace be upon you; O the righteous, pure servant (of Allah).

يَا أَحْكَمَ الْحَاكِمِينَ.

udi`uka shahadatan minny laka tuqarribuny ilayka fi yawmi shafa`atika

I entrust with you a testimony of mine that takes me near you on the day of your intercession (for some people).

ألْحَمْدُ للهِ الْعَلِيِّ الْعَظيمِ

ash-hadu annaka qutilta wa lam tamut

I bear witness that although you were slain, you have not died;

والسَّلامُ عَلَيْكَ أيُّها الْعَبْدُ الصَّالِحُ الزَّكيُّ

bal biraja‘i hayatika hayiyat qulubu shi`atika

Rather the hearts of your adherents (Shi`ah) are living on the hope of your being alive;

اُودِعُكَ شَهادَةً مِنِّي لَكَ تُقَرِّبُني إلَيْكَ فِي يَوْمِ شَفاعَتِكَ،

wa biziya‘i nurika ahtadaalttalibuna ilayka

And by the light of your illumination have those seeking you been guided (to the right path).

أشْهَدُ أنَّكَ قُتِلْتَ وَلَمْ تَمُتْ

wa ash-hadu annaka nuru allahi alladhy lam yutfa wa layutfa’u abadan

And I bear witness that you are verily the Light of Allah that has not and shall never be extinguished.

بَلْ بِرَجاءِ حَياتِكَ حَيِيَتْ قُلُوبُ شيعَتِكَ،

wa annaka wajhu allahi alladhy lam yahlik wa layuhlaku abadan

And you are verily the Face of Allah that has not and shall never be perishing.

وَبِضِياءِ نُورِكَ اهْتَدَى الطَّالِبُونَ إلَيْكَ،

wa ash-hadu ann hadhihi alttrbata turbatuka

And I bear witness that this soil is yours,

وَأشْهَدُ أنَّكَ نُورُ اللهِ الَّذي لَمْ يُطْفَأْ وَلا يُطْفَأُ أبَداً،

wa hadhaalharama haramuka

And this holy precinct is yours.

وَأنَّكَ وَجْهُ اللهِ الَّذي لَمْ يَهْلِكْ وَلا يُهْلَكُ أبَداً،

wa hadhaalmaSra`a maSra`u badanika

And this death is the death of your body only,

وَأشْهَدُ أنَّ هذِهِ التُّرْبَةَ تُرْبَتُكَ،

ladhalila wallahu mu`izzuka

While you have never been humiliated since Allah is the One Who is pouring honor upon you

وَهذا الْحَرَمَ حَرَمُكَ،

wa lamaghluba wallahu naSiruka

And you have never been defeated since Allah is the One Who is supporting you.

وَهذا الْمَصْرَعَ مَصْرَعُ بَدَنِكَ

hadhihi shahadatun li `indaka ilayawmi qabzi ruhy bihazratika

I would like you to keep this testimony of mine with you up to the day when my soul will be grasped in the presence of you.

لا ذَليلَ واللهِ مُعِزُّكَ

wa alssalamu `alayka wa rahmatu allahi wa barakatuhu

Peace and Allah’s mercy and blessings be upon you.

وَلا مَغْلُوبَ واللهِ ناصِرُكَ،

allahumma anta alhayyu alqayyumu

O Allah: You are verily the Ever-living, the Self-Subsisting,

هذِهِ شَهادَةٌ لي عِنْدَكَ إلى يَوْمَ قَبْضِ روُحي بِحَضْرَتِكَ،

al`aliyyu al`azimu

the Most High, the All-great,

والسَّلامُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكاتُهُ.

alkhaliqu alrraziqu

the Creator, the Sustainer,

اللّهُمَّ أَنْتَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّومُ

almuhiy almumitu

the Giver of live, the Causer of death,

الْعَلِيُّ الْعَظِيمُ

albadi‘u albadi`u

the Originator, the Maker.

الْخَالِقُ الرَّازِقُ

laka aljalalu

To You is the Majesty

الْمُحْيِي الْمُمِيتُ

wa laka alfadlu

and to You is the favor,

الْبَدِيءُ الْبَدِيعُ،

wa laka alhamdu

and to You is all praise,

لَكَ الْجَلالُ،

wa laka almann

and to You is thanks,

وَلَكَ الْفَضْلُ،

wa laka aljudu

and to You is magnanimity,

وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ،

wa laka alkaramu

and to You is generosity,

وَلَكَ الْمَنُّ،

wa laka alamru

and to You do belong all affairs,

وَلَكَ الْجُودُ،

wa laka almajdu

and to You is glory,

وَلَكَ الْكَرَمُ،

wa laka alshshkru

and to You is gratitude;

وَلَكَ الأَمْرُ،

wa hdaka lasharika laka

You are alone without having any partner with You.

وَلَكَ الْمَجْدُ،

yawahidu yaahadu yasamadu

O the One: O the Absolute: O the Besought of all:

وَلَكَ الشُّكْرُ،

yaman lam yalid wa lam yulad

O He Who neither begets nor is He begotten,

وَحْدَكَ لا شَرِيكَ لَكَ،

wa lam yakun lahu kufwan ahadun

and there is none like to Him.

يَا وَاحِدُ يَا أَحَدُ يَا صَمَدُ

salli `alamuhammadin wa ali muhammadin

(please do) bless Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad

يَا مَنْ لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ

waghfir li warhamny

and forgive me; and have mercy upon me;

وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ كُفُواً أَحَدٌ،

wakfiny maahammany

and relieve me from whatever has aggrieved me;

صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

waqdi dayni

and help me settle my debt;

وَاغْفِرْ لِي وَارْحَمْنِي

wa wassi` `alayy fi rizqi

and expand my provisions;

وَاكْفِنِي مَا أَهَمَّنِي

fa’innaka fi hadhihi allaylati kull amrin hakimin tafruqu

for You, at this night, make distinct all affairs of wisdom;

وَاقْضِ دَيْنِي،

wa man tasha‘u min khalqika tarzuqu

and You grant sustenance to whomever You wish among Your creatures.

وَوَسِّعْ عَلَيَّ فِي رِزْقِي،

farzuqny wa anta khayru alrraziqina

So, (please do) grant me sustenance and You are verily the Best of sustainers.

فَإنَّكَ فِي هذِهِ اللَّيْلَةِ كُلَّ أَمْرٍ حَكِيمٍ تَفْرُقُ،

fa’innaka qulta wa anta khayru alqa’ilina alnnatiqina:

You have said—and You are the Best of those who speak and utter—

وَمَنْ تَشَاءُ مِنْ خَلْقِكَ تَرْزُقُ،

“was-alu allaha min fadlihi”

“Ask Allah of His bounty.”

فَارْزُقْنِي وَأَنْتَ خَيْرُ الرَّازِقِينَ،

famin fadlika as-alu

I thus ask You of Your bounty;

فَإنَّكَ قُلْتَ وَأَنْتَ خَيْرُ الْقَائِلِينَ النَّاطِقِينَ:

wa ‘iyyaka qasadtu

and to You do I turn my face;

(وَاسْأَلُوَا اللّهَ مِنْ فَضْلِهِ)

wabna nabiyyka a`tamadtu

and the intercession of Your Prophet’s son do I seek;

فَمِنْ فَضْلِكَ أَسْأَلُ،

wa laka rajawtu

and for You do I hope.

وَإيَّاكَ قَصَدْتُ،

farhamny yaarhama alrrahimina

So, (please do) have mercy upon me; O the most Merciful of all those who show mercy.

وَابْنَ نَبِيِّكَ اعْتَمَدْتُ،

allahumma aqsim lanamin khashiyatika

O Allah: (please do) grant us an amount of fearfulness of You

وَلَكَ رَجَوْتُ،

mayahulu baynanawa bayna ma`siyatika

that prevents us from committing acts of disobedience to You;

فَارْحَمْنِي يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ.

wa min ta`atika matuballghunabihi ridwanaka

and an amount of obedience to You that makes us attain Your satisfaction;

اللّهُمَّ اقْسِمْ لَنَا مِنْ خَشْيَتِكَ

wa mina aliyaqini mayahunu `alaynabihi musibatu alddunya

and an amount of conviction that help us tolerate the vicissitudes of this worldly life.

مَا يَحُولُ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَ مَعْصِيَتِكَ،

allahumma amti`nabiasma`inawa absarinawa quwwatina

O Allah: (please do) make us enjoy our hearings, sights, and powers

وَمِنْ طَاعَتِكَ مَا تُبَلِّغُنَا بِهِ رِضْوَانَكَ،

maahiyaytanawaj`alhu alwaritha minna

so long as You decide to keep us alive; and (please do) make it the inheritor of us.

وَمِنَ الْيَقِينِ مَا يَهُونُ عَلَيْنَا بِهِ مُصِيبَاتُ الدُّنْيَا.

waj`al tharana`alaman zalamana

And (please do) make us avenge ourselves against them who wrong us;

اللّهُمَّ أَمْتِعْنَا بِأَسْمَاعِنَا وَأَبْصَارِنَا وَقُوَّتِنَا

wansurna`alaman `adana

and back us against them who antagonize us;

مَا أَحْيَيْتَنَا وَاجْعَلْهُ الْوَارِثَ مِنَّا،

wa lataj`al musibatanafi dinina

and do not suffer misfortunes in affairs of our religion;

وَاجْعَلْ ثأْرَنَا عَلَى مَنْ ظَلَمَنَا،

wa lataj`ali alddunyaakbara hammnawa lamablagha `ilmina

and do not make our worldly affairs happen to be our greatest concern or our utmost knowledge;

وَانْصُرْنَا عَلَى مَنْ عَادَانَا،

wa latusallt `alaynaman layarhamuna

and do not set him who does not have mercy upon us, as master over us;

وَلا تَجْعَلْ مُصِيبَتَنَا فِي دِينِنَا،

birahmatika yarhama alrrahimina

in the name of Your mercy; O the most Merciful of all those who show mercy.

وَلا تَجْعَلِ الدُّنْيَا أَكْبَرَ هَمِّنَا وَلا مَبْلَغَ عِلْمِنَا،

yaman ilayhi malja’u al`ibadi fi almuhimmati

O He to Whom the servants (of Him) resort in urgencies

وَلا تُسَلِّطْ عَلَيْنَا مَنْ لا يَرْحَمُنَا،

wa ilayhi yafza`u alkhalqu fi almulimmati

and to Whom the creatures turn in ordeals;

بِرَحْمَتِكَ يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ.

ya`alima aljahri wal-khafiyyati

O He Who knows the open and the hidden matters;

يَا مَنْ إلَيْهِ مَلْجَأُ الْعِبَادِ فِي الْمُهِمَّاتِ،

yaman latakhfa`alayhi khawatiru alawhami wa tasarrfu alkhatarati

O He from Whom neither the ideas of illusions nor the initiatives of delusions can be concealed;

وَإلَيْهِ يَفْزَعُ الْخَلْقُ فِي الْمُلِمَّاتِ،

ya rabbi alkhala’iqi wal-bariyyati

O the Lord of creatures and beings;

يَا عَالِمَ الْجَهْرِ وَالْخَفِيَّاتِ،

yaman biyadihi malakutu alaradina wal-ssamawati

O He Who grasps the kingdoms of the earth and the heavens;

يَا مَنْ لا تَخْفَى عَلَيْهِ خَوَاطِرُ الأَوْهَامِ وَتَصَرُّفُ الْخَطَرَاتِ،

anta allahu lailaha illaanta

You are verily Allah; there is no god save You;

يَارَبَّ الْخَلائِقِ وَالْبَرِيَّاتِ،

amutt ilayka bilailaha illaanta

I thus try to connect with you in the name of ‘There is no god save You’

يَا مَنْ بِيَدِهِ مَلَكُوتُ الأَرَضِينَ وَالسَّمَاوَاتِ،

fayalailaha illaanta aj`alny fi hadhihi allaylati mimmn nazarta ilayhi farahimtahu

So, O He save Whom there is no god: (please) include me at this night with those at whom You have looked and thus You have mercy upon them;

أَنْتَ اللّهُ لا إلهَ إلاَّ أَنْتَ،

wa sami`ta du`a‘ahu fa-ajabtahu

and with those whose prayers have been heard by You and thus You have responded to them;

أَمُتُّ إلَيْكَ بِلا إلهَ إلاَّ أَنْتَ،

wa `alimta astiqalatahu fa-aqaltahu

and with those whose true repentance has been admitted by You and thus You have accepted it;

فَيَا لا إلهَ إلاَّ أَنْتَ اجْعَلْنِي فِي هذِهِ اللَّيْلَةِ مِمَّنْ نَظَرْتَ إلَيْهِ فَرَحِمْتَهُ،

wa tajawazta `an salifi khatiiatihi wa `azimi jariratihi

and You have thus overlooked their past sins and enormous offenses.

وَسَمِعْتَ دُعَاءَهُ فَأَجَبْتَهُ،

faqadi astajartu bika min dhunubi

verily, I am seeking Your shelter against my sins,

وَعَلِمْتَ اسْتِقَالَتَهُ فَأَقَلْتَهُ،

wa lajatu ilayka fi satri `uyubi

and I am resorting to You so that You may conceal my defects.

وَتَجَاوَزْتَ عَنْ سَالِفِ خَطِيئَتِهِ وَعَظِيمِ جَرِيرَتِهِ،

allahumma fajud `alayy bikaramika wa fadlika

O Allah: (please) bestow lavishly upon me with Your generosity and Favor;

فَقَدِ اسْتَجَرْتُ بِكَ مِنْ ذُنُوبِي،

wahtut khataiaiya bihilmika wa `afwika

and condone my misdeeds out of Your forbearance and pardon,

وَلَجَأْتُ إلَيْكَ فِي سَتْرِ عُيُوبِي.

wa taghammdny fi hadhihi allaylati bisabighi karamatika

and encompass me, at this night, with Your opulent honoring,

اللّهُمَّ فَجُدْ عَلَيَّ بِكَرَمِكَ وَفَضلِكَ،

waj`alny fihamin awlia’ika alladhina ajtabaytahum lita`atika

and include me at this night with Your intimate servants whom You have selected for obeying You,

وَاحْطُطْ خَطَايَايَ بِحِلْمِكَ وَعَفْوِكَ،

wakhtartahum li`ibadatika

and whom You have chosen for worshipping You,

وَتَغَمَّدْنِي فِي هذِهِ اللَّيْلَةِ بِسَابِغِ كَرَامَتِكَ،

wa ja`altahum khalisataka wa sifwataka

and whom You have made Your elite and select people.

وَاجْعَلْنِي فِيهَا مِنْ أَوْلِيَائِكَ الَّذِينَ اجْتَبَيْتَهُمْ لِطَاعَتِكَ،

allahumma aj`alny mimmn sa`ada jadduhu

O Allah: (please) make me of those whose efforts are of a happy end,

وَاخْتَرْتَهُمْ لِعِبَادَتِكَ،

wa tawaffra mina alkhayrati hazzuhu

and those whose shares of good things are big,

وَجَعَلْتَهُمْ خَالِصَتَكَ وَصِفْوَتَكَ.

waj`alny mimmn salima fana`ima

and make me of those who enjoy blissful life as they have been safe (from sins)

اللّهُمَّ اجْعَلْنِي مِمَّنْ سَعَدَ جَدُّهُ،

wa faza faghanima

and those who have been awarded excellently as they have won,

وَتَوَفَّرَ مِنَ الْخَيْرَاتِ حَظُّهُ،

wakfiny sharr maaslaftu

and rescue me from the evil consequences of what I have committed,

وَاجْعَلْنِي مِمَّنْ سَلِمَ فَنَعِمَ،

wa`simny mina alazdiadi fi ma`siyatika

and save me from doing more acts of disobedience to You,

وَفَازَ فَغَنِمَ،

wa habbib ilayya ta`ataka wa mayuqarribuny minka wa yuzlifuny `indaka

and make me love the acts of obedience to You and whatever draws me near You and approaches me toward You.

وَاكْفِنِي شَرَّ مَا أَسْلَفْتُ،

sayyidy ilayka yalja’u alharibu

O my Master: a fugitive resorts to none save You,

وَاعْصِمْنِي مِنَ الإزْدِيَادِ فِي مَعْصِيَتِكَ،

wa minka yaltamisu alttalibu

and a needy begs none save You,

وَحَبِّبْ إلَيَّ طَاعَتَكَ وَمَا يُقَرِّبُنِي مِنْكَ وَيُزْلِفُنِي عِنْدَكَ.

wa `alakaramika yu`awwilu almustaqilu altta’ibu

and only on Your generosity does a repentant, contrite one depends

سَيِّدِي إلَيْكَ يَلْجَأُ الْهَارِبُ،

addabta `ibadaka bilttakarrumi wa anta akramu alakramina

You have disciplined Your servants by means of generosity; and You are verily the most Generous of all those who are generous.

وَمِنْكَ يَلْتَمِسُ الطَّالِبُ،

wa amarta bil`afui `ibadaka wa anta alghafuru alrrahimu

and You have instructed Your servants to pardon; and You are verily the All-forgiving, the All-merciful.

وَعَلَى كَرَمِكَ يُعَوِّلُ الْمُسْتَقِيلُ التَّائِبُ،

allahumma falatahrimny marajawtu min karamika

O Allah: (please) do not deprive me of Your generosity for which I hope,

أَدَّبْتَ عِبَادَكَ بِالتَّكَرُّمِ وَأَنْتَ أَكْرَمُ الأَكْرَمِينَ،

wa latu´iisny min sabighi ni`amika

and do not make me despair of Your opulent bounties,

وَأَمَرْتَ بِالْعَفْوِ عِبَادَكَ وَأَنْتَ الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ.

wa latukhayybny min jazili qisamika fi hadhihi allaylati liahli ta`atika

and do not disappoint me of Your abundant sustenance that You decide, this night, for those who are obedient to You,

اللّهُمَّ فَلا تَحْرِمْنِي مَا رَجَوْتُ مِنْ كَرَمِكَ،

waj`alny fi junnatin min shirari bariyyatika

and include me with Your protection against Your evil creatures.

وَلا تُؤْيِسْنِي مِنْ سَابِغِ نِعَمِكَ،

rabbi in lam akun min ahli dhalika fanta ahlu alkarami wal-`afui wal-maghfirati

O my Lord: If I do not deserve so, then You are worthy of acting generously to me, and pardoning and forgiving me,

وَلا تُخَيِّبْنِي مِنْ جَزِيلِ قِسَمِكَ فِي هذِهِ اللَّيْلَةِ لأهْلِ طَاعَتِكَ،

wa jud `alayya bimaanta ahluhu labimaastahiqquhu

and (please) bestow upon me magnanimously according to that which befits You, not according to what I deserve,

وَاجْعَلْنِي فِي جُنَّةٍ مِنْ شِرَارِ بَرِيَّتِكَ،

faqad hasuna zanni bika

verily, I carry an excellent opinion about You,

رَبِّ إنْ لَمْ أَكُنْ مِنْ أَهْلِ ذلِكَ فَأَنْتَ أَهْلُ الْكَرَمِ وَالْعَفْوِ وَالْمَغْفِرَةِ،

wa tahaqqaqa rajaiy laka

and I do hope for You,

وَجُدْ عَلَيَّ بِمَا أَنْتَ أَهْلُهُ لا بِمَا أَسْتَحِقُّهُ،

wa `aliqat nafsi bikaramika

and my self is hanged to the rope of Your generosity,

فَقَدْ حَسُنَ ظَنِّي بِكَ،

fa-anta arhamu alrrahimina

for You are verily the most Merciful of all those who show mercy,

وَتَحَقَّقَ رَجَائِي لَكَ،

wa akramu alakramina

and You are the most Generous of all those who are generous.

وَعَلِقَتْ نَفْسِي بِكَرَمِكَ

allahumma wakhsusny min karamika bijazili qisamika

O Allah: (please) confer upon me exclusively with an abundant share of what You decide, out of Your generosity,

فَأَنْتَ أَرْحَمُ الرَّاحِمِينَ،

wa a`udhu bi`afwika min `uqubatika

and I seek refuge with Your pardon against Your chastisement,

وَأَكْرَمُ الأَكْرَمِينَ.

wa ghfir liya aldhdhanba alladhy yahbisu `alayya alkhuluqa

and (please) forgive me the sin that prevents me from enjoying high morals,

اللّهُمَّ وَاخْصُصْنِي مِنْ كَرَمِكَ بِجَزِيلِ قِسَمِكَ،

wa yudayyiqu `alayya alrrzqa

and suppresses my sustenance,

وَأَعُوذُ بِعَفْوِكَ مِنْ عُقُوبَتِكَ،

hattaaquma bisalihi ridaka

so that I will do that which excellently achieves Your satisfaction

وَاغْفِرْ لِيَ الذَّنْبَ الَّذِي يَحْبِسُ عَلَيَّ الْخُلُقَ،

wa an`ama bijazili `ata’ika

and I will enjoy Your profuse granting,

وَيُضَيِّقُ عَلَيَّ الرّزْقَ

wa as`ada bisabighi na`ma’ika

and I will be delighted by Your abundant bounties.

حَتَّى أَقُومَ بِصَالِحِ رِضَاكَ،

faqad ludhtu biharamika

I am having recourse to Your sanctity,

وَأَنْعَمَ بِجَزِيلِ عَطَائِكَ،

wa ta`arradtu likaramika

and I am asking for Your generosity,

وَأَسْعَدَ بِسَابِغِ نَعْمَائِكَ،

wasta`adhtu bi`afwika min `uqubatika

and I am taking shelter in Your pardon against Your punishment,

فَقَدْ لُذْتُ بِحَرَمِكَ،

wa bihilmika min ghadabika

and in Your forbearance against Your ire.

وَتَعَرَّضْتُ لِكَرَمِكَ،

fajud bimasa-altuka

So, (please) bestow upon me generously with that which I have asked from You,

وَاسْتَعَذْتُ بِعَفْوِكَ مِنْ عُقُوبَتِكَ،

wa anil maaltamastu minka

and confer upon me with that which I have begged from You,

وَبِحِلْمِكَ مِنْ غَضَبِكَ،

asaluka bika labishay‘in huwa a`zamu minka

I beseech You in Your name, since there is nothing great that You are.

فَجُدْ بِمَا سَأَلْتُكَ،

ya rabb(i)

O my Lord!

وَأَنِلْ مَا الْتَمَسْتُ مِنْكَ،

ya allah(u)

O Allah!

أَسْأَلُكَ بِكَ لا بِشَيْءٍ هُوَ أَعْظَمُ مِنْكَ.

la hawla wala quwwata illa billah(i)

There is neither might nor power save with Allah.

يَا رَبِّ.

ma sha’allah(u)

Only that which Allah wants (will be).

يَا اَللهُ.

la quwwata illa billahi

There is no power save with Allah.

لا حَوْلَ وَلا قُوَّةَ إلاَّ بِاللّهِ.

ilahy ta`arrada laka fi hadhaallayli almuta`arriduna

O Allah: tonight the seekers of favors, restless and eager, present themselves to You;

مَا شَاءَ اللهٌُ.

wa qasadaka alqasiduna

the determined aspirers have You in mind;

لا قُوَّةَ إلاَّ بِاللّهِ.

wa ammla fadlaka wa ma`rufaka alttalibuna

those who make requests look long and attentively at Your obligingness and kindness;

إلهِي تَعَرَّضَ لَكَ فِي هذَا اللَّيْلِ الْمُتَعَرِّضُونَ،

wa laka fi hadhaallayli nafahatun wa jawa’izu

You, in this night, give gifts, bounties beyond measure,

وَقَصَدَكَ الْقَاصِدُونَ،

wa `atayawa mawahibu

free donations, and favors,

وَأَمَّلَ فَضْلَكَ وَمَعْرُوفَكَ الطَّالِبُونَ،

tamunnu biha`alaman tasha‘u min `ibadika

to those whom You will from among Your servants when they make a request,

وَلَكَ فِي هذَا اللَّيْلِ نَفَحَاتٌ وَجَوَائِزُ

wa tamna`uhaman lam tasbiq lahu al`inaiyatu minka

and say no to those who do not try to get in advance (remain behind) for obtaining the bounties from You.

وَعَطَايَا وَمَوَاهِبُ

wa haanadha`ubayduka alfaqiru ilayka

I, a modest needy bondman,

تَمُنُّ بِهَا عَلَى مَنْ تَشَاءُ مِنْ عِبَادِكَ،

almu´ammilu fadlaka wa ma`rufaka

am hopeful of Your obligingness and kindness.

وَتَمْنَعُهَا مَنْ لَمْ تَسْبِقْ لَهُ الْعِنَايَةُ مِنْكَ،

fain kunta yamawlaiya tafaddalta fi hadhihi allaylati `alaahadin min khalqika

Indeed if You, O My Master, bestows a favor on any one, in this night, from among Your created beings,

وَهَا أَنَا ذَا عُبَيْدُكَ الْفَقِيرُ إلَيْكَ

wa `udta `alayhi bi`a’idatin min `atfika

and multiply profits and gains for him out of love and affection,

الْمُؤَمِّلُ فَضْلَكَ وَمَعْرُوفَكَ،

fasalli `alamuhammadin wa ali muhammadin

please send blessings upon Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad:

فَإنْ كُنْتَ يَا مَوْلايَ تَفَضَّلْتَ فِي هذِهِ اللَّيْلَةِ عَلَى أَحَدٍ مِنْ خَلْقِكَ

alttiyyibina alttahirina alkhayyrina alfadilina

the pure, the immaculate, the virtuous, and the righteous;

وَعُدْتَ عَلَيْهِ بِعَائِدَةٍ مِنْ عَطْفِكَ

wa jud `alayya bitawlika wa ma`rufika

and then let me have enough and be contented on account of Your liberality and obligingness,

فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

ya rabba al`alamina

O Lord of the worlds!

الطَّيِّبِينَ الطَّاهِرِينَ الْخَيِّرِينَ الْفَاضِلِينَ،

wa sallaallahu `alamuhammadin khatami alnnabiyyina

May Allah send blessings upon Muhammad, the seal of the Prophets,

وَجُدْ عَلَيَّ بِطَوْلِكَ وَمَعْرُوفِكَ

wa alihi alttahirina

and upon his Household, the immaculate,

يَا رَبَّ الْعَالَمِينَ،

wa sallama tasliman

and may He exalt them very much.

وَصَلَّى اللّهُ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ خَاتَمِ النَّبِيِّينَ

inn allaha hamidun majidun

verily, Allah is worthy of all praise, full of all glory.

وَآلِهِ الطَّاهِرِينَ

allahumma inni ad`uka kamaamarta

O Allah: I am praying You as You ordered me to do,

وَسَلَّمَ تَسْلِيماً

fastajib li kamawa`adta

So, (please) respond to me as You promised.

إنَّ اللّهَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ.

innaka latukhlifu almi`ada

verily, You never break Your promise.

اللّهُمَّ إنِّي أَدْعُوكَ كَمَا أَمَرْتَ

sajada laka sawady wa khayali

Prostrating before You are my body and my shadow

فَاسْتَجِبْ لِي كَمَا وَعَدْتَ

wa amana bika fu´adi

and my heart is in full faith of You

إنَّكَ لا تُخْلِفُ الْمِيعَادَ.

hadhihi yadaiya wa majanaytuhu `alanafsi

These are my two hands and this is what I have committed against myself,

سَجَدَ لَكَ سَوَادِي وَخَيَالِي،

ya`azimu turjalikulli `azimin

O the All-great: You are hoped for all enormous things;

وَآمَنَ بِكَ فُؤَادِي،

aghfir liya al`azima

Please, forgive me my serious offences

هذِهِ يَدَايَ وَمَا جَنَيْتُهُ عَلَى نَفْسِي،

fa’innhu layaghfiru aldhdhanba al`azima illaalrrabbu al`azimu

because none can forgive the serious sin except the All-great Lord.

يَا عَظِيمُ تُرْجَى لِكُلِّ عَظِيمٍ

a`udhu binuri wa jhika alladhy ada‘at lahu alssamawatu wal-araduna

I seek the protection of the light of Your Face that has lit the heavens and the earth

اغْفِرْ لِيَ الْعَظِيمَ

wankashafat lahu alzzulumatu

and has removed all darkness

فَإنَّهُ لا يَغْفِرُ الذَّنْبَ الْعَظِيمَ إلاَّ الرَّبُّ الْعَظِيمُ.

wa salaha `alayhi amru al-awwalina wal-akhirina

and has made active all the affairs of the past and the coming generations

أَعُوذُ بِنُورِ وَجْهِكَ الَّذِي أَضَاءَتْ لَهُ السَّمَاوَاتُ وَالأَرَضُونَ،

min fuj-ati naqimatika

against Your sudden chastisement

وَانْكَشَفَتْ لَهُ الظُّلُمَاتُ،

wa min tahwili `afiyatika

and against withdrawing the good health that You have granted me

وَصَلَحَ عَلَيْهِ أَمْرُ الأَوَّلِينَ وَالآخِرِينَ

wa min zawal-i ni`matika

and against the vanishing of Your bounties.

مِنْ فُجْأَةِ نَقِمَتِكَ،

allahumma arzuqny qalban taqiyyan naqiyyan

O Allah: (please) grant me a heart that is pious and pure,

وَمِنْ تَحْوِيلِ عَافِيَتِكَ،

wa mina alshshirki bari’an

and is released from polytheism,

وَمِنْ زَوَالِ نِعْمَتِكَ.

lakafiran wa lashaqiyyan

and is neither atheist nor unhappy.

اللّهُمَّ ارْزُقْنِي قَلْباً تَقِيّاً نَقِيّاً

`affartu wajhy fi altturabi

I am putting my face on the ground

وَمِنَ الشِّرْكِ بَرِيئاً

wa huqqa li an asjuda laka

and it is my duty to prostrate myself before You

لا كَافِراً وَلا شَقِيّاً.

allahumma inni ilayka faqirun

O Allah: I am in need for You,

عَفَّرْتُ وَجْهِي فِي التُّرَابِ

wa min `adhabika kha’ifun mustajirun

and I am fearful of You and seeking Your shelter against Your chastisement.

وَحُقَّ لِي أَنْ أَسْجُدَ لَكَ

allahumma latubaddil ismi

O Allah: (please) do not erase my name,

اللّهُمَّ إنِّي إلَيْكَ فَقِيرٌ،

wa latughayyir jismi

and do not change my body,

وَمِنْ عَذَابِكَ خَائِفٌ مُسْتَجِيرٌ.

wa latajhad bala’y

and do not increase my ordeals,

اللّهُمَّ لا تُبَدِّلِ اسْمِي،

wa latushmit by a`da’y

and do not make my enemies rejoice at my misfortune.

وَلا تُغَيِّرْ جِسْمِي،

a`udhu bi`afwika min `iqabika

I resort to Your pardon against Your punishment,

وَلا تَجْهَدْ بَلائِي،

wa a`udhu birahmatika min `adhabika

and I resort to Your mercy against Your chastisement,

وَلا تُشْمِتْ بِي أَعْدَائِي،

wa a`udhu biridaka min sakhatika

and I resort to Your pleasure against Your wrath,

أَعُوذُ بِعَفْوِكَ مِنْ عِقَابِكَ،

wa a`udhu bika minka

and I resort to You from You

وَأَعُوذُ بِرَحْمَتِكَ مِنْ عَذَابِكَ،

jalla thanau´uka

Enormous be the praise of You

وَأَعُوذُ بِرِضَاكَ مِنْ سَخَطِكَ،

anta kamaathnayta `alanafsika

You are as exactly as You have praised Yourself,

وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْكَ،

wa fawqa mayaqulu alqa’iluna

and above all that which is said about You.

جَلَّ ثَنَاؤُكَ

Exalted is Your praise!

أَنْتَ كَمَا أَثْنَيْتَ عَلَى نَفْسِكَ

You are as You have praised Yourself.

وَفَوْقَ مَا يَقُولُ الْقَائِلُونَ.

And above whatever the speakers say.
