The 1st Night of ramadan

1

رَبّي وَرَبّكَ اللّهُ رَبّ العَالَمِينَ.

Your and my Lord is Allah; the Lord of the worlds.

2

اللّهُمّ أَهِلّهُ عَلَيْنَا بِالأَمْنِ وَالإيمَانِ

O Allah: (please do) cause this crescent to carry with it for us security and faith

3

وَالسّلامَةِ وَالإسْلامِ

And safety and Islam

4

وَالمُسَارَعَةِ إلَى مَا تُحِبّ وَتَرْضَى.

And expedition to whatever You love and please.

5

اللّهُمّ بَارِكْ لَنَا فِي شَهْرِنَا هذَا،

O Allah: (please do) bless us in this month,

6

وَارْزُقْنَا خَيْرَهُ وَعَوْنَهُ،

And confer upon us with its goodness and aid,

7

وَاصْرِفْ عَنَّا ضُرّهُ وَشَرّهُ وَبَلاءَهُ وَفِتْنَتَهُ.

And save us from its harm, evil, ordeals, and sedition.

8

اللّهُمّ أَهِلّهُ عَلَيْنَا بِالأَمْنِ وَالإيمَانِ

O Allah: (please do) cause this crescent to carry with it for us security and faith

9

وَالسّلامَةِ وَالإسْلامِ

And safety and Islam

10

وَالعَافِيَةِ المُجَلّلَةِ وَدِفَاعِ الأَسْقَامِ

And encompassing good health and repulsion of ailments,

11

وَالعَوْنِ عَلَى الصّلاةِ وَالصّيَامِ وَالقِيَامِ

And assistance on praying, observing fasting, and doing acts of worship,

12

وَتِلاوَةِ القُرْآنِ.

And on reciting the Qur'an.

13

اللّهُمّ سَلّمْنَا لِشَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ،

O Allah: (please do) keep us sound for the month of Ramadan,

14

وَتَسَلّمْهُ مِنَّا،

And accept our deeds during it,

15

وَسَلّمْنَا فِيهِ

And save us during it,

16

حَتَّى يَنْقَضِيَ عَنَّا شَهْرُ رَمَضَانَ

Until the month of Ramadan will not elapse

17

وَقَدْ عَفَوْتَ عَنَّا وَغَفَرْتَ لَنَا وَرَحِمْتَنَا.

Except that You have pardoned us, forgiven us, and had mercy upon us

18

اللّهُمّ قَدْ حَضَرَ شَهْرُ رَمَضَانَ

O Allah: the month of Ramadan has commenced,

19

وَقَدِ افْتَرضْتَ عَلَيْنَا صِيَامَهُ،

And You have made obligatory upon us to observe fasting during it,

20

وَأَنْزَلْتَ فِيهِ القُرْآنَ

And You revealed the Qur'an in it,

21

هُدَىً لِلنَّاسِ وَبَيّنَاتٍ مِنَ الهُدَى وَالفُرْقَانِ.

As guidance for people and clear proofs of true guidance and distinction (between the right and the wrong).

22

اللّهُمّ أَعِنَّا عَلَى صِيَامِهِ،

O Allah: (please) help us observe fasting in it,

23

وَتَقَبّلْهُ مِنَّا،

And accept it from us,

24

وَسَلّمْنَا فِيهِ،

And keep us safe during it,

25

وَسَلّمْنَا مِنْهُ،

And help us observe it adequately,

26

وَسَلّمْهُ لَنَا فِي يُسْرٍ مِنْكَ وَعَافِيَةٍ،

And keep it sound for us with easiness and good health from You.

27

إنّكَ عَلَى كُلّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ،

You verily have power over all things.

28

يَا رَحْمنُ يَا رَحِيمُ.

O the All-beneficent, O the All-merciful

29

أَيّهَا الخَلْقُ المُطِيعُ،

O obedient creature,

30

الدَّائِبُ السّرِيعُ،

speedy and untiring,

31

المُتَرَدّدُ فِي مَنَازِلِ التّقْدِيرِ،

frequenter of the mansions of determination,

32

المُتَصَرّفُ فِي فَلَكِ التّدْبِيرِ،

moving about in the sphere of governance!

33

آمَنْتُ بِمَنْ نَوّرَ بِكَ الظّلَمَ،

I have faith in Him Who lights up darknesses through you,

34

وَأَوْضَحَ بِكَ البُهَمَ،

illuminates jet-black shadows by you,

35

وَجَعَلَكَ آيَةً مِنْ آيَاتِ مُلْكِهِ،

appointed you one of the signs of His kingdom

36

وَعَلامَةً مِنْ عَلامَاتِ سُلْطَانِهِ،

And one of the marks of His authority,

37

فَحَدّ بِكَ الزّمَانَ،

So, He identified time through You,

38

وَامْتَهَنَكَ بِالكَمَالِ وَالنّقْصَانِ،

And humbled you through increase and decrease,

39

وَالطّلُوعِ وَالأُفُولِ

And rising and setting,

40

وَالإنَارَةِ وَالكُسُوفِ

And illumination and eclipse.

41

فِي كُلّ ذلِكَ أَنْتَ لَهُ مُطِيعٌ،

In all of this you are obedient to Him,

42

وَإلَى إرَادَتِهِ سَرِيعٌ،

And prompt toward His will.

43

سُبْحَانَهُ مَا أَعْجَبَ مَا دَبّرَ مِنْ أَمْرِكَ!

Glory be to Him! How wonderful is what He has arranged in Your situation!

44

وَأَلْطَفَ مَا صَنَعَ فِي شَأْنِكَ!

How subtle what He has made for Your task!

45

جَعَلَكَ مِفْتَاحَ شَهْرٍ حَادِثٍ لأَمْرٍ حَادِثٍ،

He has made You the key to a new month for a new situation.

46

فَأَسْأَلُ اللّهَ رَبّي وَرَبّكَ،

So I ask Allah, my Lord and Your Lord,

47

وَخَالِقِي وَخَالِقَكَ،

my Creator and Your Creator,

48

وَمُقَدّرِي وَمُقَدّرَكَ،

my Determiner and Your Determiner,

49

وَمُصَوّرِي وَمُصَوّرَكَ

my Form-giver and Your Form-giver,

50

أَنْ يُصَلّيَ عَلَى مُحَمّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمّدٍ،

that He bless Muhammad and his Household

51

وَأَنْ يَجْعَلَكَ هِلالَ بَرَكَةٍ لا تَمْحَقُهَا الأَيَّامُ،

and appoint You a crescent of blessings not effaced by days

52

وَطَهَارَةٍ لا تُدَنّسُهَا الآثَامُ،

and of purity not defiled by sins;

53

هِلالَ أَمْنٍ مِنَ الآفَاتِ،

a crescent of security from blights

54

وَسَلامَةٍ مِنَ السّيّئَاتِ،

and of safety from evil deeds;

55

هِلالَ سَعْدٍ لا نَحْسَ فِيهِ،

a crescent of auspiciousness containing no misfortune,

56

وَيُمْنٍ لا نَكَدَ مَعَهُ،

of prosperity accompanied by no adversity,

57

وَيُسْرٍ لا يُمَازِجُهُ عُسْرٌ،

of ease not mixed with difficulty,

58

وَخيْرٍ لا يَشُوبُهُ شَرّ،

of good unstained by evil;

59

هِلالَ أَمْنٍ وَإيمَانٍ،

a crescent of security and faith,

60

وَنِعْمَةٍ وَإحْسَانٍ،

favor and good-doing,

61

وَسَلامَةٍ وَإسْلامٍ.

safety and submission!

62

اللّهُمّ صَلّ عَلَى مُحَمّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمّدٍ

O Allah, bless Muhammad and his Household,

63

وَاجْعَلْنَا مِنْ أَرْضَى مَنْ طَلَعَ عَلَيْهِ،

place us among the most satisfied of those over whom the crescent has risen,

64

وَأَزْكَى مَنْ نَظَرَ إلَيْهِ،

the purest of those who have looked upon it,

65

وَأَسْعَدَ مَنْ تَعَبّدَ لَكَ فِيهِ،

the most fortunate of those who have worshiped You under it;

66

وَوَفّقْنَا اللّهُمّ فِيهِ لِلطَّاعَةِ وَالتّوْبَةِ،

give us the success during [the new month] to repent,

67

وَاعْصِمْنَا فِيهِ مِنَ الآثَامِ وَالحَوْبَةِ،

preserve us within it from misdeeds and exposition to punishment,

68

وَأَوْزِعْنَا فِيهِ شُكْرَ النّعْمَةِ،

allot to us within it thanksgiving for Your favor,

69

وَأَلْبِسْنَا فِيهِ جُنَنَ العَافِيَةِ،

clothe us during it in the shields of well-being,

70

وَأَتْمِمْ عَلَيْنَا بِاسْتِكْمَالِ طَاعَتِكَ فِيهِ المِنّةَ،

and complete for us Your kindness by perfecting therein obedience to You!

71

إنّكَ أَنْتَ المَنَّانُ الحَمِيدُ،

Surely You are All-kind, Praiseworthy.

72

وَصَلَّى اللّهُ عَلَى مُحَمّدٍ وَآلِهِ الطّيّبِينَ،

And bless Muhammad and his Household, the good, the pure.

73

وَاجْعَلْ لَنَا فِيهِ عَوْناً مِنْكَ عَلَى مَا نَدَبْتَنَا إلَيْهِ

And grant us aid from You to carry out that which You have ordered us to do in it;

74

مِنْ مُفْتَرَضِ طَاعَتِكَ

Such as the obedience to You which You have made incumbent upon us,

75

وَتَقَبّلْهَا إنّكَ الأَكْرَمُ مِنْ كُلّ كَرِيمٍ،

and accept them from us, for You are the most Generous of all those who show generosity

76

وَالأَرْحَمُ مِنْ كُلّ رَحِيمٍ،

and the most Merciful of all those who show mercy.

77

آمِينَ آمِينَ رَبّ العَالَمِينَ.

Respond! Respond! O the Lord of the Worlds.

78

اللَّهُمَّ يا مَنْ يَمْلِكُ التَّدْبِيرَ وَهُوَ عَلى كُلِّ شَيٍْ قَدِيرٌ ، يا مَنْ يَعْلَمُ خائِنَةَ الاَعْيُنِ وَما تُخْفِي الصُّدُورُ وَتُجِنُّ الضَّمِيرُ وَهُوَ اللَّطِيفُ الخَبِيرُ ، اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْنا مِمَّنْ نَوى فَعَمِلَ وَلا تَجْعَلْنا مِمَّنْ شَقِيَ فَكَسِلَ وَلا مِمَّنْ هُوَ عَلى غَيْرِ عَمَلٍ يَتَّكِلُ ، اللَّهُمَّ صَحِّحْ أَبْدانَنا مِنَ العِلَلِ وَأَعِنَّا عَلى ما أَفْتَرَضْتَ عَلَيْنا مِنَ العَمَلِ حَتَّى يَنْقَضِيَ عَنَّا شَهْرُكَ هذا وَقَدْ أَدَّيْنا مَفْرُوضَكَ فِيْهِ عَلَيْنا ، اللَّهُمَّ أَعِنَّا عَلى صِيامِهِ وَوَفِّقْنا لِقِيامِهِ وَنَشِّطْنا فِيْهِ لِلصَّلاةِ وَلا تَحْجُبْنا مِنَ القَرأَةِ وَسَهِّلْ لَنا فِيْهِ إِيْتاءَ الزَّكاةِ ، اللَّهُمَّ لا تُسَلِّطْ عَلَيْنا وَصَباً وَلا تَعَباً وَلا سَقْماً وَلا عَطَباً ، اللَّهُمَّ ارْزُقْنا الاِفْطارَ مِنْ رِزْقِكَ الحَلالِ ، اللَّهُمَّ سَهِّلْ لَنا فِيْهِ ما قَسَمْتَهُ مِنْ رِزْقِكَ وَيَسِّرْ ما قَدَّرْتَهُ مِنْ أَمْرِكَ وَاجْعَلْهُ حَلالاً طَيِّباً نَقِيّاً مِنْ الاثامِ خالِصاً مِنَ الاصارِ وَالاَجْرامِ اللَّهُمَّ لا تُطْعِمْنا إِلاّ طَيِّباً غَيْرَ خَبِيثٍ وَلا حَرامٍ وَاجْعَلْ رِزْقَكَ لَنا حَلالاً لايَشُوبُهُ دَنَسٌ وَلا أَسْقامٌ. يا مَنْ عِلْمُهُ بِالسِّرِّ كَعِلْمِهِ بِالاِعْلانِ يا مُتَفَضِّلا عَلى عِبادِهِ بِالاِحْسانِ يا مَنْ هُوَ عَلى كُلِّ شَيٍْ قَدِيرٌ وَبِكُلِّ شَيٍْ عَلِيمٌ خَبِيرٌ أَلْهِمْنا ذِكْرَكَ وَجَنِّبْنا عُسْرَكَ وَأَنِلْنا يُسْرَكَ وَاهْدِنا لِلرَّشادِ وَوَفِّقْنا لِلسَّدادِ وَاعْصِمْنا مِنَ البَلايا وَصُنّا مِنَ الاَوْزارِ وَالخَطايا ، يا مَنْ لا يَغْفِرُ عَظِيمَ الذُّنُوبِ غَيْرُهُ وَلا يَكْشِفُ السُّوءَ إِلاّ هُوَ يا أرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ وَأَكْرَمَ الاَكْرَمِينَ ، صَلِّ عَلى مُحَمَّدٍ وَأَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ الطَّيِّبِينَ وَاجْعَلْ صِيامَنا مَقْبُولا وَبِالبِرِّ وَالتَّقْوى مَوْصُولا وَكذلِكَ فَاجْعَلْ سَعْيَنا مَشْكُوراً وَقِيامَنا مَبْرُوراً وَقُرْآنَنا مَرْفُوعاً [١] وَدُعائَنا مَسْمُوعاً وَاهْدِنا لِلْحُسْنى وَجَنِّبْنا العُسْرى وَيَسِّرْنا لِلْيُسْرى وَأَعْلِ لَنا الدَّرَجاتِ وَضاعِفْ لَنا الحَسَناتِ وَاقْبَلْ مِنِّا الصَّومَ وَالصَّلاةَ وَاسْمَعْ مِنَّا الدَّعَواتِ وَاغْفِرْ لَنا الخَطِيئاتِ وَتَجاوَزْ عَنَّا السَّيِّئاتِ ، وَاجْعَلْنا مِنَ العامِلِينَ الفائِزِينَ وَلا تَجْعَلْنا مِنَ المَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلا الضَّآلِّينَ حَتّى يَنْقَضِي شَهْرُ رَمَضانَ عَنَّا وَقَدْ قَبِلْتَ فِيْهِ صِيامَنا وَقِيامَنا وَزَكَّيْتَ فِيْهِ أَعْمالَنا وَغَفْرْتَ فِيْهِ ذُنُوبَنا وَأَجْزَلْتَ فِيْهِ مِنْ كُلِّ خَيْرٍ نَصِيبَنا ، فَإِنَّكَ الاِلهُ المُجِيبُ وَالرَّبُّ القَرِيبُ وَأَنْتَ بِكُلِ شَيٍْ مُحِيطٌ

O Allah, O He who holds all governance and is over all things powerful. O He who knows the treachery of the eyes and what the hearts conceal and what the conscience hides, and He is the Subtle, the All-Aware. O Allah, make us among those who resolve and act, and do not make us among those who are wretched and lazy, nor among those who rely upon deeds other than action. O Allah, make our bodies sound from ailments and help us fulfill what You have obligated upon us of deeds, until this month of Yours ends and we have fulfilled Your obligations therein upon us. O Allah, help us in its fasting and grant us success in its prayer and invigorate us therein for prayer, and do not bar us from recitation, and make it easy for us therein to pay the alms-tax. O Allah, do not afflict us with weariness, fatigue, illness, or ruin. O Allah, provide us with breaking of the fast from Your lawful sustenance. O Allah, make easy for us therein what You have apportioned of Your sustenance, and facilitate what You have decreed of Your command, and make it lawful, wholesome, and pure from sins, free from burdens and offenses. O Allah, feed us nothing but what is pure, not foul or forbidden, and make Your sustenance for us lawful, untainted by filth or disease. O He whose knowledge of the secret is as His knowledge of the public, O He who bestows favor upon His servants through benevolence, O He who is over all things powerful and of all things knowing and aware: inspire us to remember You and keep us from Your hardship and grant us Your ease, and guide us to right guidance and grant us success in uprightness, and protect us from calamities, and shield us from burdens and sins. O He other than whom none forgives tremendous sins, and none removes harm except Him, O Most Merciful of the merciful and Most Generous of the generous. Send blessings upon Muhammad and his pure household, and make our fasting accepted, connected with piety and righteousness; and likewise make our striving appreciated and our prayer blessed, and our Quran uplifted and our supplication heard. Guide us to the best and keep us from hardship and ease us to ease, and raise our ranks and multiply our good deeds. Accept from us our fasting and prayer, and hear from us our supplications, and forgive us our sins, and overlook our misdeeds. Make us among the winning workers, and do not make us among those upon whom wrath descends nor those who go astray, until the month of Ramadan ends and You have accepted our fasting and prayer therein, and purified our deeds therein, and forgiven our sins therein, and granted us a generous share of every good therein. For You are the God who answers, and the Lord who is near, and You encompass all things.

79

And You are the Creator and I am the creature, and You are the Living and I am the dead.

80

اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّ شَهرِ رَمَضانَ ، مُنَزِّلَ القُرْآنَ ، هذا شَهرُ رَمَضانَ الَّذِي أَنْزَلْتَ فِيهِ القُرْآنَ وأَنْزَلْتَ فِيهِ آياتٍ بَيِّناتٍ مِنَ الهُدى والفُرْقانِ. اللَّهُمَّ ارْزُقْنا صِيامَهُ ، وَأَعِنّا عَلى قِيامِهِ. اللَّهُمَّ سَلِّمْهُ لَنا وَسَلِّمْنا فِيهِ ، وَتَسَلَّمْهُ مِنّا في يُسْرٍ مِنْكَ وَمُعافاةٍ ، وَاجْعَلْ فِيما تَقْضِي وَتُقَدِّرُ مِنَ الاَمْرِ المَحْتُومِ وَفِيما تَفْرُقُ مِنَ الاَمْرِ الحَكِيمِ فِي لَيْلَةِ القَدْرِ مِنَ القَضاء الَّذِي لا يُرَدُّ وَلا يُبَدَّلُ أَنْ تَكْتُبَنِي مِنْ حُجَّاجِ بَيْتِكَ الحَرامِ المَبْرُورِ حَجُّهُمُ المَشْكُورِ سَعْيُهُمُ المَغْفُورِ ذُنُوبُهُمُ ، المُكَفَّرِ عَنْهُمْ سَيِّئاتُهُمْ ، وَاجْعَلْ فِيما تَقْضِي وَتُقَدِّرُ أَنْ تُطِيلَ لِي فِي عُمرِي ، وَتُوَسِّعَ عَلَيَّ مِنَ الرِّزْقِ الحَلالِ

O Allah, Lord of the month of Ramadan, the One who sent down the Quran! This is the month of Ramadan in which You sent down the Quran, and in it You sent down clear signs of guidance and the criterion. O Allah, grant us its fasting and help us in its prayer. O Allah, deliver it safely to us and deliver us safely through it, and receive it from us in ease from You and well-being. And ordain, in what You decree and determine of the irrevocable command, and in what You apportion of the wise command on the Night of Decree — a decree that cannot be rejected or altered — that You write me among the pilgrims to Your sacred House whose pilgrimage is accepted, whose striving is appreciated, whose sins are forgiven, and whose evil deeds are expiated. And ordain, in what You decree and determine, that You lengthen my life and expand my lawful sustenance.

81

اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّهُ قَدْ دَخَلَ شَهْرُ رَمَضانَ. اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّ شَهْرِ رَمَضانَ الَّذِي أَنْزَلْتَ فِيهِ القُرْآنَ ، وَجَعَلْتَهُ بَيِّناتٍ مِنَ الهُدى وَالفُرْقانِ. اللَّهُمَّ فَبارِكْ لَنا فِي شَهْرِ رَمَضانَ ، وَأَعِنّا عَلى صِيامِهِ وَصَلَواتِهِ وتَقَبَّلْهُ مِنّا.

O Allah, the month of Ramadan has arrived. O Allah, Lord of the month of Ramadan in which You sent down the Quran and made it clear signs of guidance and the criterion. O Allah, bless us in the month of Ramadan and help us in its fasting and prayers, and accept it from us.

82

الحَمْدُ للهِ الَّذِي أَكْرَمَنا بِكَ أَيُّها الشَّهْرُ المُبارَكُ. اللَّهُمَّ فَقَوِّنا عَلى صِيامِنا وَقِيامِنا ، وَثَبِّتْ أَقْدامَنا ، وَانْصُرْنا عَلى القَوْمِ الكافِرِينَ. اللَّهُمَّ أَنتَ الواحِدُ فَلا وَلَدَ لَكَ ، وَأَنْتَ الصَّمَدُ فَلا شِبْهَ لَكَ ، وَأَنتَ العَزِيزُ فَلا يُعِزُّكَ شَيٌْ وَأَنْتَ الغَنيُّ وَأَنا الفَقِيرُ ، وَأَنْتَ المَوْلى وَأَنا العَبْدُ ، وَأَنْتَ الغَفُورُ وَأَنا المُذْنِبُ ، وَأَنْتَ الرَّحِيمُ وَأَنا المُخْطِيُ ، وَأَنْتَ الخالِقُ وَأَنا المَخْلُوقُ ، وَأَنْتَ الحَيُ وَأَنا المَيِّتُ ، أَسْأَلُكَ بِرَحْمَتِكَ أَنْ تَغْفِرَ لِي وَتَرْحَمَنِي وَتَجاوَزَ عَنِّي إِنَّكَ عَلى كُلِّ شَيٍْ قَدِيرٌ

All praise belongs to Allah who has honored us with You, O blessed month. O Allah, strengthen us for our fasting and prayer, and make our feet firm, and support us against the disbelieving people. O Allah, You are the One, so You have no child; and You are the Self-Sufficient, so there is no likeness to You; and You are the Mighty, so nothing makes You mighty; and You are the Rich and I am the poor; and You are the Master and I am the servant; and You are the Forgiving and I am the sinner; and You are the Merciful and I am the wrongdoer; and You are the Creator and I am the creature; and You are the Living and I am the dead. I ask You by Your mercy to forgive me and have mercy on me and overlook my faults; verily You are over all things powerful.

83

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَشْهَدُ أَنَّ هذا كِتابُكَ المُنْزَلُ مِنْ عِنْدِكَ عَلى رَسُولِكَ مُحمَّدٍ بْنِ عَبْدِ الله صلى‌الله‌عليه‌وآله وَكَلامُكَ النَّاطِقُ عَلى لِسانِ نَبِيِّكَ جَعَلْتَهُ هادِيا مِنْكَ إِلى خَلْقِكَ ، وَحَبْلاً مُتَّصِلاً فِيما بَيْنَكَ وَبَيْنَ عِبادِكَ. اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي نَشَرْتُ عَهْدَكَ وَكِتابَكَ. اللَّهُمَّ فاجْعَل نَظَرِي فِيْهِ عِبادَةً ، وَقِرأَتِي فِيْهِ فِكْراً ، وَفِكْرِي فِيْهِ اعْتِباراً وَاجْعَلْنِي مِمَّنْ اتَّعَظَ بِبَيانِ مَواعِظِكَ فِيْهِ ، وَاجْتَنَبَ مَعاصِيَكَ ، وَلا تَطْبَعْ عِنْدَ قِرأَتِي عَلى سَمْعِي ، وَلا تَجْعَلْ عَلى بَصَرِي غِشاوَةً وَلا تَجْعَلْ قِرأَتِي قِرأَةً لا تَدَبُّرَ فِيها بَلْ اجْعَلْنِي أَتَدَبَّرُ آياتِهِ وَأَحْكامَهُ ، آخِذا بِشَرايِعِ دِينِكَ ، وَلا تَجْعَلَ نَظَرِي فِيْهِ غَفْلَةً ، وَلا قِرأَتِي هَذَراً ، إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ الرَّؤُوفُ الرَّحِيمُ.

O Allah, I bear witness that this is Your Book, sent down from You upon Your Messenger Muhammad ibn Abdullah, peace be upon him and his family, and Your speaking Word upon the tongue of Your Prophet. You made it a guide from You to Your creation, and a rope connected between You and Your servants. O Allah, I have spread open Your covenant and Your Book. O Allah, make my looking into it worship, and my reading of it contemplation, and my contemplation of it a lesson. Make me among those who take heed from the clarity of Your admonitions therein, and who shun Your disobedience. Do not seal my hearing when I read it, and do not place a covering over my sight, and do not make my reading a reading without reflection; rather, make me reflect upon its verses and its rulings, taking hold of the laws of Your religion. Do not make my looking into it heedlessness, nor my reading babble. Verily, You are the Compassionate, the Merciful.

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي قَدْ قَرَأْتُ ما قَضَيْتَ مِنْ كِتابِكَ الَّذِي أَنْزَلْتَهُ عَلى نَبِيِّكَ الصَّادِقِ صَلَّى الله عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ فَلَكَ الحَمْدُ رَبَّنا. اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْنِي مِمَّنْ يُحِلُّ حَلالَهُ ، وَيُحَرِّمُ حَرامَهُ ، وَيُؤْمِنُ بِمُحْكَمِهِ وَمُتَشابِهِهِ ، وَاجْعَلْهُ لِي أُنْساً فِي قَبْرِي ، وَأُنْساً فِي حَشْرِي وَاجْعَلْنِي مِمَّنْ تُرَقِّيْهِ بِكُلِّ آيَةٍ قَرَأَها دَرَجَةً فِي أَعْلى عِلِّيِّينَ ، آمِينَ رَبَّ العالَمِينَ

O Allah, I have recited what You have decreed of Your Book, which You sent down upon Your truthful Prophet, may Allah's blessings be upon him and his family. So to You belongs all praise, our Lord. O Allah, make me among those who treat its lawful as lawful and its forbidden as forbidden, and who believe in its clear and its allegorical verses. Make it a companion for me in my grave, and a companion for me in my gathering, and make me among those whom You elevate with every verse they recite, a degree in the highest of the high. Amen, Lord of the worlds.
