  1. `Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Hajjaj has reported that Imam al-Sadiq (`a), whenever he woke up at the last hours of night, would raise his voice with this prayer so that the people of his house would hear him:
  2. DUA UPON WAKING UP. The Imaam said that anyone who wakes up from sleep and recites the following Duaa shall be considered a grateful servant of Almighty Allah (swt):
  1. `Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Hajjaj has reported that Imam al-Sadiq (`a), whenever he woke up at the last hours of night, would raise his voice with this prayer so that the people of his house would hear him:

    اَللَّهُمَّ اعِنِّي عَلَىٰ هَوْلِ ٱلْمُطَّلَعِ

    O Allah, help me stand the horror of the after-death scene,

    وَوَسِّعْ عَلَيَّ ضِيقَ ٱلْمَضْجَعِ

    expand for me the narrow abode,

  3. 3

    وَٱرْزُقْنِي خَيْرَ مَا قَبْلَ ٱلْمَوْتِ

    provide me with the welfare of what is before death,

  4. 4

    وَٱرْزُقْنِي خَيْرَ مَا بَعْدَ ٱلْمَوْتِ

    and provide me with the welfare of what is after death.

    سُبْحَانَ ٱللَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلنَّبِيِّينَ

    All glory be to Allah the Lord of the prophets,

    وَإِلٰهِ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ

    the God of the messengers,

  7. 7

    وَرَبِّ ٱلْمُسْتَضْعَفِينَ

    and the Lord of the enfeebled ones.

  8. 8

    وَٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ ٱلَّذِي يُحْيِي ٱلْمَوْتَىٰ

    All praise be to Allah Who gives life to the dead

  9. 9

    وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

    and He has power over all things.
