اَلَّلهُمَّ ادْفَعْ عَنِّى الْبَلَآءَ

allaahummad - fa 'a'nnil balaa - a

O Allah, drive the misfortune away from me.

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

bismilla'ahir rah'maanir rah'eem

يَا كَائِنًا قَبْلَ كُلِّ شَيْءٍوَ يَا مُكَوِّنَ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ وَ يَا بَاقِي بَعْدَ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ صَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ افْعَلْ بِيْ

yaa kaaa-inan qabla kulli shay -in wa yaa mukawwina kulli shay -in wa yaa baaqiya ba'da kulli shay -in s'alli ala muh'ammadin wa ahli baytihee waf-a'l bee

O the (ever) existing who is a priori to all existence; O the creator (who says 'be' and it becomes) of all things, O the everlasting eternal even when everything (created) shall perish:

سُبْحَانَ اللهِ الْعَظِيْمِ وَ بِحَمْدِهِ اَسْتَغْفِرُ اللهَ وَاَسْألَهُ مِنْ فَضْلِهِ

subh'aanallaahil a'z'eemi wa bih'amdihee astaghfirullaaahaa wa as-aluhoo min faz'lihee

Glory be to Allah and praise be to Him. I seek protection of Allah and I beseech Him to give me His bounties generously.

اَعْدَدْتُ لِكُلِّ عَظِيْمَةٍ لَآ اِله اِلاَّ اللهُ وَ لِكُلِّ هَمٍٍّ وَ غَمِّ لاَ حَوْلَ وَلاَ قُوَّةَ اِلاَّ باِللهِ مُحَمَّدٌ نُوْرُ الْاوَّلُ وَ عَلِىٌّ نُوْرُ الثَّانِىْ وَ الْاَءِمَّةُ الْاَبْرَارُ عُدَّةٌ لِلِقَآءِ اللهِ وَ حِجَابٌ مِنْ اَعْدَآءِ اللهِ ذَلَّ كُلُّ شَىْءٍ لِعَظَمَةِ اللهِ وَأَسْأَلُ اللهَ عَزَّوَجَلَّ الْكِفَايَةَ

a'-dadtu likulli a'z'eematin laa ilaaha illallaahu wa likulli hammin wa ghammin laa h'awla wa laa quwwata illaa billaah muh'ammadun noorul awwalu wa a'liyaun nooruth thaanee wal a-immatul abraaru u'ddatun liliqaaa-illaahi wa h'ijaabun min a-daaa-illaahi d'alla kulli shay-in li-a'z'amatillaahi wa as-alullaaha a'zza wa jallal kifaayah

I enumerate the merits of all that which are glorious and magnificent (to know that) there is no god save Allah; and for (removal of) pains and sorrows there is no power nor strength (in any) save in Allah. Muhammad is the first light, Ali the second light; and all the pious Imams (of the Ahlul Bayt) are a means to reach the presence of Allah and a protection from the enemies of Allah. All things are dwarfed in presence of the greatness of Allah. I seek sufficient (support) from Allah, the mighty, the glorious.

اَلَّلهُمَّ اِنْ كَانَتْ ذَنُوْبِىْ قَدْ اَخْلَقَتْ وَجْهِيْ عِنْدَكَ فَاِنِّيْ اَتَوَجَّهُ اِلَيْكَ نَبِىِّ الرَّحْمَةِ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ اَلِهِ وَ عَلِىِّ وَ فَاطِمَةَ وَالْحَسَنِ وَ الْحُسَيْنِ وَ الْأِمَّةِ عَلَيْهِمْ السَلَامُ.

Allaahumma in kaanat d'unoobee qad akhlaqat wajhee i'ndaka fa innee atawajjahu ilayka bi nabiyyika nabiyyir rah'mati muhammadin s'allallaahu a'layhi wa aalihee wa a'liyyin wa faat'imata walah'asani wal h'usayni wal a-immati a'layhimus salaam

O Allah, if my sins have blackened my face, I turn to You through Your prophet, Muhammad, the prophet of mercy, blessings of Allah be on him and on his children, (and through) Ali, Fatimah, Hasan, Husayn and the (rest of the) Imams (of the Ahl ul Bayt), peace be on all of them.

حَسْبِىَ اللهُ لَآ اٍلَهَ اِلاَّ هُوَ عَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ وَهُوَ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيْمِ-

h'asbiyallaahu laaa ilaaha illaa huw a'layhi tawakkaltu wa huwa rabbul a'rshil a'z'eem.

Allah suffices me. There is no god but He. On Him do I rely, and He is the Lord of the great throne.

وَ أُفَوِّضُ أَمْرِيْ إِلَى اللَّهِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ بَصِيْرٌ بِالْعِبَادِ

wa ufawwiz'u amree ilallaah innallaaha bas'eerum bil ibaad

I entrust my affair to Allah, verily, Allah keeps an eye on (His) servants.

لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ سُبْحَانَكَ إِنِّيْ كُنْتُ مِنَ الظَّالِمِيْنَ فَاسْتَجَبْنَا لَهٗ وَ نَجَّيْنَاهُ مِنَ الْغَمِّ وَ كَذٰلِكَ نُنْجِي الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ

laa ilaaha illaaa anta subh'aanaka innee kuntu minaz'z'aalimeen fas-tajabnaa lahoo wa najjaynaahu minal ghamm wa kad'aalika nunjil moomineen

There is no god save You. Glory be to You. Verily I was of there unjust. Then We responded to him and delivered him from grief, thus do We deliver the believers.

حَسْبُنَا اللَّهُ وَ نِعْمَ الْوَكِيْلُ

h'asbunallaahu wa ni' mal wakeel

Allah is sufficient for us; and most excellent is He (who) protects us.

لَا حَوْلَ وَ لَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ الْعَلِيِّ الْعَظِيْمِ.

LAA H'AWLA WA LAA QUWWATA ILLAA BILLAAHIL A'LIYYIL A'Z'EEM

There is no power and no strength save with Allah the high, the great.

اَلَّلهُمَّ اَتِنِىْ بِالْعَافِيَةِ مِنْ حَيْثُ شِئْتَ وَ كَيْفَ شِئْتَ وَ اَنَّي شِئْتَ فَاِنَّكَ تَفْعَلُ مَا شِئْتَ كَيْفَ شِئْتَ-

allaahumma aatinee bin a'afiyati min h'aythu shi-ta wa kayfa shi-ta wa annaa shi-ta fa-innaka taf-a'lu maa shi-ta kayfa shi-ta

O Allah, give us welfare from wheresoever You desire, as You wish and when You want. Verily You do that which You find satisfying because it pleases You.

اَللّٰهُمَّ إِنَّكَ أَنَسُ الْآنِسِينَ لِأَوْلِيَائِكَ

Allāhumma innaka anasu l-ānisīna li-awliyā’ik

O God, verily You are the closest companion to Your friends (saints),

وَ أَحْضَرَهُمْ بِالْكِفَايَةِ لِلْمُتَوَكِّلِينَ عَلَيْكَ

wa aḥḍarahum bi-l-kifāyati li-l-mutawakkilīna ‘alayk

and You are present with sufficiency for those who rely upon You.

تُشَاهِدُهُمْ فِي سَرَائِرِهِمْ

Tushāhiduhum fī sarā’irihim

You witness them in their innermost thoughts,

وَ تَطَّلِعُ عَلَيْهِمْ فِي ضَمَائِرِهِمْ

wa taṭṭali‘u ‘alayhim fī ḍamā’irihim

and You are aware of what is in their consciences,

وَ تَعْلَمُ سَبْلَغَ بَصَائِرِهِمْ

wa ta‘lamu sablagha baṣā’irihim

and You know the extent of their insights.

فَأَسْرَارُهُمْ لَكَ مَكْشُوفَةٌ

Fa-asrāruhum laka makshūfah

So, their secrets are revealed to You,

وَ قُلُوبُهُمْ إِلَيْكَ مَلْهُوفَةٌ

wa qulūbuhum ilayka malhūfah

and their hearts yearn towards You.

إِنْ أَوْحَشَتْهُمُ الْغُرْبَةُ آنَسَهُمْ ذِكْرُكَ

In awḥashat-humu l-ghurbatu ānasahum dhikruk

If loneliness makes them feel desolate, Your remembrance comforts them,

وَ إِنْ صَبَّتْ عَلَيْهِمُ الْمَصَائِبُ

wa in ṣabbat ‘alayhimu l-maṣā’ib

and if calamities pour down upon them,

لَجَئُوا إِلَى الِاسْتِجَارَةِ بِكَ

laja’ū ila l-istijārati bik

they turn to seek Your protection,

عِلْمًا بِأَنَّ أَزِمَّةَ الْأُمُورِ بِيَدِكَ

‘Ilman bi-anna azimmata l-umūri bi-yadika

knowing that the reins of all affairs are in Your Hand,

بِمَصَادِرِهَا عَنْ قَضَائِكَ

bi-maṣādirihā ‘an qaḍā’ik

with their origin stemming from Your decree.

اَللّٰهُمَّ إِنْ فَهَهْتُ عَنْ مَسْأَلَتِي

Allāhumma in fahah-tu ‘an mas’alatī

O God, if I become confused about my request,

أَوْ عَمِهْتُ عَنْ طَلِبَتِي

aw ‘amihtu ‘an ṭalibatī

or become unaware of what I truly need,

فَدُلَّنِي عَلَى مَصَالِحِي

fa-dullanī ‘alā maṣāliḥī

then guide me to what is beneficial for me,

وَ خُذْ بِقَلْبِي إِلَى مَرَاشِدِي

wa khudh bi-qalbī ilā marāshidī

and take my heart towards what is right for me,

فَلَيْسَ ذَلِكَ بِنُكْرٍ مِنْ هِدَايَاتِكَ

fa-laysa dhālika bi-nukrin min hidāyātik

for that is not unheard of among Your guidance,

وَلَا بِبِدَعٍ مِنْ كِفَايَاتِكَ

wa lā bi-bida‘in min kifāyātik

nor is it an innovation among Your fulfillments.

اَللّٰهُمَّ احْمِلْنِي عَلَى عَفْوِكَ

Allāhumma iḥmilnī ‘alā ‘afwik

O God, bear with me with Your pardon,

وَلَا تَحْمِلْنِي عَلَى عَدْلِكَ

wa lā taḥmilnī ‘alā ‘adlik

and do not bear with me with Your justice.

يَا عِمادَ مَنْ لا عِمادَ لَهُ

Yā ‘Imāda man lā ‘imāda lah

O Pillar of him who has no pillar,

وَ يَا ذُخْرَ مَنْ لَا ذُخْرَ لَهُ

wa yā Dhukhra man lā dhukhra lah

and O Treasure of him who has no treasure,

وَ يَا سَنَدَ مَنْ لَا سَنَدَ لَهُ

wa yā Sanada man lā sanada lah

and O Support of him who has no support,

وَ يَا حِرْزَ مَنْ لَا حِرْزَ لَهُ

wa yā Ḥirza man lā ḥirza lah

and O Sanctuary of him who has no sanctuary,

وَ يَا غِيَاثَ مَنْ لَا غِيَاثَ لَهُ

wa yā Ghiyātha man lā ghiyātha lah

and O Succour of him who has no succour,

وَ يَا كَنْزَ مَنْ لَا كَنْزَ لَهُ

wa yā Kanza man lā kanza lah

and O Treasure of him who has no treasure,

وَ يَا عِزَّ مَنْ لَا عِزَّ لَهُ

wa yā ‘Izza man lā ‘izza lah

and O Honour of him who has no honour,

يَا كَرِيمَ الْعَفْوِ

Yā Karīma l-‘Afw

O Generous in Forgiveness,

يَا حَسَنَ التَّجاوُزِ

yā Ḥasana t-Tajāwuz

O Excellent in Overlooking (sins),

يَا عَوْنَ الضُّعَفَاءِ

yā ‘Awna ḍ-Ḍu‘afā’

O Helper of the weak,

يَا كَنْزَ الفُقَرَاءِ

yā Kanza l-Fuqarā’

O Treasure of the poor,

يَا عَظِيمَ الرَّجَاءِ

yā ‘Aẓīma r-Rajā’

O Great in Hope,

يَا مُنْقِذَ الغَرْقَى

yā Munqidha l-Gharqā

O Rescuer of the drowned,

يَا مُنْجِيَ الهَلْكَى

yā Munjīya l-Halkā

O Deliverer of the perished,

يَا مُحْسِنُ

Yā Muḥsinu

O Benefactor,

يَا مُجْمِلُ

yā Mujmilu

O Beautifier (Giver of Grace),

يَا مُنْعِمُ

yā Mun‘imu

O Bestower of blessings,

يَا مُفْضِلُ

yā Mufḍilu

O Giver of abundance,

أَنْتَ الَّذِي سَجَدَ لَكَ سَوادُ اللَّيْلِ

Anta l-ladhī sajada laka sawādu l-layl

You are the One to Whom the darkness of the night prostrates,

وَ نُورُ النَّهَارِ

wa Nūru n-nahār

and the light of the day,

وَ ضَوْءُ القَمَرِ

wa ḍaw’u l-qamar

and the brightness of the moon,

وَ شُعاعُ الشَّمْسِ

wa shu‘ā‘u sh-shams

and the ray of the sun,

وَ حَفِيفُ الشَّجَرِ

wa ḥafīfu sh-shajar

and the rustling of the trees,

وَ دَوِيُّ المَاءِ

wa dawiyyu l-mā’

and the humming (rushing sound) of the water.

يَا اللهُ يَا اللهُ يَا اللهُ

Yā Allāhu yā Allāhu yā Allāh

O God, O God, O God,

لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ وَحْدَكَ لَا شَرِيكَ لَكَ

lā ilāha illā Anta waḥdaka lā sharīka lak

there is no god but You, You alone, there is no partner for You.

يَا رَبَّاهُ يَا اللهُ

Yā Rabbāhu yā Allāh

O My Lord! O God!

صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

ṣalli ‘alā Muḥammadin wa āli Muḥammad

Bless Muḥammad and the Family of Muḥammad,

وَ افْعَلْ بِنَا مَا أَنْتَ أَهْلُهُ

wa f‘al binā mā Anta ahluh.

and deal with us as is befitting of You.

ثُمَّ سَلْ حَاجَتَكَ

Thumma sal ḥājataka.

Then ask for your need.

From Sahifa Alavia 26. His Dua at the time of Severe Difficulties

ي کنوش ارکنوش اره شش عطبيطسفينخ يَا مططرون قريالسيون وما سوما سوما طيطسالوس خبظوس مسفقيس مسا معوش افرطيعوش لطيفکش لطيفوش هَذَا هَذَا وَمَا كُنْتَ بِجَانِبِ الْغَرْبِىِّ اِذْ قَضَيْنَا اِلىَ مُوْسَى الْاَمْرَ وَمَا كُنْتَ مِنَ الْمُشَاهِدِيْنَ اُخْرُجْ بِقُدْرَةِ اللهِ مِنْهَا اَيُّهَا الْلَّعِيْنُ بِعزَّةِ اللهِ رَبِّ الْعْاَمِيْنَ اُخْرُجْ مِنْهَا وَ اِلاَّ كُنْتَ مِنَ الْمَسْجُونِيْنَ اُخْرُجْ مِنْهَا فَمَا يَكُوْنُ لَكَ اَنْ تَتَكَبَّرَ فِيْهَا فَاخْرُجْ اِنَّكَ مِنَ الصَّاغِرِيْنَ اُخْرُجْ مِنْهَا مُذْئُوْمًا مَدْحُوْرًا مَلْعُوْنًا كَمَا لَعَنَّا اَصْحَابَ السَّبْتِ وَ كَانَ اَمْرُ اللهِ مَفْعُوْلاً اُخْرُجْ يَا ذَوِىْ الْمَحْزُوْنَ اُخْرُجْ يَا سُوْرًا يَا سُوْرًا سُوْرٌ بِالاِسْمِ الْمَحْتزُوْنِ يَا طَطَرُونَ طَرْعُوْنَ مَرَعُوْنَ تَبَارَكَ اللهُ اَحْسَنَ الْخَالِقِيْنَ يَا هَيَا يَا هَيَا شَرَاهِيَّا حَيَّا قَيُّومًا بِالاِسْمِ الْمَكْتُوْبُ عَلىَ جَبْهَةِ اِسْرَافِيْلَ اَطْرُدُوْا عَنْ صَاحِبِ هَذَا الْكِتَابِ كُلَّ جِنِّىٍ وَ جِنَيَّةٍ وَ شَيْطَانٍ وَ شَيْطَانَةٍ وَتَابِعٍ وَ تَابِعَةٍ وَ صَاحِرٍ وَ صَاحِرَةٍ وَ غَوْلٍ وَ غَوْلَةٍ

iykanoosh arkanoosh arahshah a'tbeetas faneekh yaa matt'aroon qaryaa laysiyoon maa wa maa soomaa soomaa taytasaaloos khabt'oos musfaqees masaama-o'osh afartee-o'osh lateefakash lat'eefoosh haad'aa haad'aa wa maa kunta bijaanibil gharibbee id'qaz"aynaa ilaa moosal amra wa maa kunta minashshaahi deenaa ukhruj biqudratillaahi minhaa ayyuhal la-e'enu bi-i'zzatillaahi rabbil a'alameen ukhruj minhaa wa illaa kunta minal masjooneena ukhruj minhaa famaa yakoonu laka an tatakabbara feehaa fakhruj innaka minas' s'aaghireen ukhruj minhaa mad-ooman madh'ooran mal-o'onan kamaa la-a'nnaa as'h'aabas sabri wa kaana amrullaahi maf-o'olan ukhruj yaa d'awil mah'zoona ukhruj yaa sooran yaa sooran yuaa sooran bil ismil makhzooni yaa t'at'aroon tar -o'on maraa - o'on tabaarakallaahu ah'sanul hiyyaa h'ayyan qayyooman bil-ismil maktoobi a'laa jabhati israafeela ut'rudoo a'n s'aah'ibi haad'al kitaabi kulla jinnin wa jinniyyatin shayt'aanin wa shayt'aanatin wa taabi-i'n wa taabi-a'tin wa saah'irin wa saah'iratin wa ghoolin wa ghoolatin wa kulla muta-a'bbithin wa a'abithin yaa'bathu bibni aadama wa binaati h'awwaa wa laa h'awla wa laa quwwata illaa billaahil a'liyyil a'z'eem wa s'allallaahu a'laa muh'ammadin wa aalihee ajma-e'enat tayyibeenat t'aahireenal maa'soomeen

-this (and) this-and you were not (present) in the western side when We sent our command to Musa, neither you were there to witness. O accursed, go away by the power of Allah, and by the honour of the Lord of the worlds. Get out imprisoned. Get out from this. It is not for you to show pride here, so get out, verily you are of those despised. Get out of this, despised, driven away; accursed as We cursed the people of the Sabbath, and the command of Allah is always executed. Get out, O afflicted. Get out O Sooran O Sooran in the name of that name which is kept secret, O Tat'aaroon T'aroon Mar-o'on. Blessings be for Allah who is the best creator. O Hayaa, O Hayaa, in the name of the everliving ever-subsisting name which is written on the forehead of Israafeel disappear at once from the holder of this written text, (whoever it may be) a genie (male or female), a devil (male or female) or a follower of (the devil, male or female), a sorcerer or sorcersess, a demon (male or female), a juggler or a trickster, whoever endangers the lives of the sons of Adam and daughters of Hawwaa. There is no power and strength (with any one) save with Allah, the highest, the greatest. Blessings of Allah be on Muhammad and on his pure, purified, and infallible children.

يَا مُذِلَّ كُلِّ جَبَّارٍ عَنِيْدٍ يَا مُعِزَّ كُلِّ ذَلِيْلٍ قَدْ وَ حَقِّكَ بَلَغَ مَـجْهُوْدِيْ فَصَلِّ عَلٰى مُـحَمَّدٍ وَ اٰلِهٖ وَ فَرِّجْ عَنِّيْ.

yaa mozilla kulle jabbaarin a’needin yaa o-i’zza kulle zaleelin qad wa haqqeqa balagha majhoodee fa-salle a’laa mohammadin wa aalehi wa farrij a’nnee.

O Humiliator of all tyrants! O Dignifier of all humble ones! I, swearing by You, have exerted all efforts; so, send blessings upon Muhammad and his Household and relieve me.[1]

سُبْحَانَ اللهِ وَ الْـحَمْدُ لِلهِ وَ لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللهُ وَحْدَهٗ لَا شَرِيْكَ لَهٗ لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَ لَهُ الْـحَمْدُ يُـحْيِيْ وَ يُـمِيْتُ وَ هُوَ حَيٌّ لَا يَـمُوْتُ بِيَدِهِ الْـخَيْرُ وَ هُوَ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيْر

subhaanal laahe wal hamdo lillaahe wa laa elaaha illal laaho wahdahu laa shareeka lahu lahul mulko wa lahul hamdo yohyee wa yomeeto wa howa hayyun laa yamooto beyadehil khayro wa howa a’laa kulle shayin qadeer.

Glory be to Allah, Praise be to Allah, there is no god but Allah, He is One and there are no partners for Him, He is Living, and He will not die, all good is through Him, and He has power over all things

لَا حَوْلَ وَ لَا قُوَّةَ اِلَّا بِاللهِ الْعَلِيِّ الْعَظِيْمِ.

laa hawla wa laa quwwata illaa billaahil a’liyyi

.There are no means and no power without Allah the Most High, the Most Great.

اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنِّيْ اَسْاَلُكَ بِـحَقِّ وَلِيِّكَ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مُوْسَى الرِّضَا اِلَّا مَا سَلَّمْتَنِيْ بِهٖ فِيْ جَـمِيْعِ اَسْفَارِيْ فِيْ الْبَرَارِيْ وَ الْبِحَارِ وَ الْـجِبَالِ وَ الْقِفَارِ وَ الْاَوْدِيَةِ وَ الْغِيَاضِ مِنْ جَـمِيْعِ مَا اَخَافُهٗ وَ اَحْذَرُهٗ اِنَّكَ رَءُوْفٌ رَحِيْمٌ.

allaahumma innee as-aloka be-haqqe waliyyeka a’liy yibne moosar rezaa illaa maa sallamtanee behi fee jamee-e’ asfaaree fil baraaree wal behaare wal jebaale wal qefaare wal aw-deyate wal gheyaaze min jamee-e’ maa akhaafohu wa ahzarohu innaka raoofur raheem.

O Allah! I implore You in by the right of Your friend, Ali Ibn Moosa al-Reza (a.s.) to secure me during my journeys; in lands and seas, on mountains and in plains, in valleys and in jungles, against all that which I fear or anticipate. Certainly You are All-Kind and All-Merciful.[3]

بِسْمِ اللهِ آمَنْتُ بِاللهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللهِ مَا شَاءَ اللهُ لَا حَوْلَ وَ لَا قُوَّةَ اِلَّا بِاللهِ

bismil laahe aamanto bil-laahe tawakkalto a’lal laahe maa shaa allaaho laa hawla wa laa quwwata illaa billaah.

In the name of Allah, I believe in Allah, I place my trust in Allah, as Allah wills. There are no means and no power without Allah.

بِسْمِ اللهِ خَرَجْتُ وَ بِسْمِ اللهِ وَلَـجْتُ وَ عَلَى اللهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ وَ لَا حَوْلَ وَ لَا قُوَّةَ اِلَّا بِاللهِ الْعَلِيِّ الْعَظِيْمِ

bismil laahe kharajto wa bismil laahe walajto wa a’lal laahe tawakkalto wa laa hawla wa laa quwwata illaa bil-laahil a’liyyil a’zeem.

In the name of Allah, I have come out, in the name of Allah, I enter, in Allah I have placed my trust, and there are no means and no power without Allah the Most High, the Most Great.

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm

In the Name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

اَللّٰهُمَّ إِنَّ ذُنُوبِي وَ كَثْرَتَهَا

Allāhumma inna dhunūbī wa kathratahā

O God, verily my sins, and their great number,

قَدْ أَخْلَقَتْ وَجْهِي عِنْدَكَ

qad akhlaqat wajhī ‘indak

have worn out my standing before You,

وَ حَجَبَتْنِي عَنِ اسْتِيهَالِ رَحْمَتِكَ

wa ḥajabatnī ‘ani stīhāli raḥmatik

and have veiled me from deserving Your mercy,

وَ بَاعَدَتْنِي عَنِ اسْتِيجَابِ مَغْفِرَتِكَ

wa bā‘adatnī ‘ani stījābi maghfiratik

and have distanced me from meriting Your forgiveness.

وَ لَوْ لَا تَعَلُّقِي بِآلَائِكَ

Wa lawlā ta‘alluqī bi-ālā’ik

And were it not for my clinging to Your blessings,

وَ تَمَسُّكِي بِالدُّعَاءِ

wa tamassukī bi-d-du‘ā’

and my holding fast to supplication,

وَ مَا وَعَدْتَ أَمْثَالِي مِنَ الْمُسْرِفِينَ

wa mā wa‘adta amthālī mina l-musrifīn

and what You have promised people like me, the transgressors,

وَ أَشْبَاهِي مِنَ الْخَاطِئِينَ

wa ashbāhī mina l-khāṭi’īn

and those similar to me, the sinners,

وَ أَوْعَدْتَ الْقَانِطِينَ مِنْ رَحْمَتِكَ

wa aw‘adta l-qāniṭīna min raḥmatik

and what You have warned against for those despairing of Your mercy,

بِقَوْلِكَ ’’يَا عِبَادِيَ الَّذِينَ أَسْرَفُوا

bi-qawlika: "Yā ‘ibādiya l-ladhīna asrafū

by Your saying: "O My servants who have exceeded limits

عَلَى أَنْفُسِهِمْ لَا تَقْنَطُوا مِنْ رَحْمَةِ اللَّهِ

‘alā anfusihim lā taqnaṭū min raḥmati Llāh

against their own souls, do not despair of the mercy of God.

إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ جَمِيعًا

Inna Llāha yaghfiru dh-dhunūba jamī‘an

Indeed, God forgives all sins.

إِنَّهُ هُوَ الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ‘‘

Innahu Huwa l-Ghafūru r-Raḥīm"

Indeed, He is the All-Forgiving, the Most Merciful."

وَ حَذَّرْتَ الْقَانِطِينَ مِنْ رَحْمَتِكَ

Wa ḥadhdharta l-qāniṭīna min raḥmatik

And You warned those who despair of Your mercy,

فَقُلْتَ ’’وَمَنْ يَقْنَطُ مِنْ رَحْمَةِ رَبِّهِ

fa-qulta: "Wa man yaqnaṭu min raḥmati Rabbih

and You said: "And who despairs of the mercy of his Lord

إِلَّا الضَّالُّونَ‘‘

illa ḍ-ḍāllūn"

except for those astray?"

ثُمَّ نَدَبْتَنَا بِرَأْفَتِكَ إِلَى دُعَائِكَ

Thumma nadabtanā bi-ra’fatika ilā du‘ā’ik

Then, with Your kindness, You invited us to supplicate to You,

فَقُلْتَ ’’اُدْعُونِي أَسْتَجِبْ لَكُمْ

fa-qulta: "Ud‘ūnī astajib lakum

and You said: "Call upon Me; I will respond to you.

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ عَنْ عِبَادَتِي

Inna l-ladhīna yastakbirūna ‘an ‘ibādatī

Indeed, those who disdain My worship

سَيَدْخُلُونَ جَهَنَّمَ دَاخِرِينَ‘‘

sayadkhulūna jahannama dākhirīn"

will enter Hell, humbled."

إِلَهِي لَقَدْ كَانَ ذَلِكَ الْإِيَاسُ

Ilāhī laqad kāna dhālika l-īyāsu

My God, indeed that despair

عَلَيَّ مُشْتَمِلًا

‘alayya mushtamilā

was encompassing me,

وَ الْقُنُوطُ مِنْ رَحْمَتِكَ مُلْتَحِفًا

wa l-qunūṭu min raḥmatika multaḥifā

and despair of Your mercy was covering me.

إِلَهِي لَقَدْ وَعَدْتَ الْمُحْسِنَ ظَنَّهُ بِكَ ثَوَابًا

Ilāhī laqad wa‘adta l-muḥsina ẓannahu bika thawābā

My God, You have promised the one who thinks well of You a reward,

وَ أَوْعَدْتَ الْمُسِيءَ ظَنَّهُ بِكَ عِقَابًا

wa aw‘adta l-musī’a ẓannahu bika ‘iqābā

and You have threatened the one who thinks ill of You with punishment.

اَللّٰهُمَّ وَ قَدْ أَمْسَكَ رَمَقِي

Allāhumma wa qad amsaka ramaqī

O God, good thought of You

حُسْنُ الظَّنِّ بِكَ فِي عِتْقِ رَقَبَتِي مِنَ النَّارِ

ḥusnu ẓ-ẓanni bika fī ‘itqi raqabatī mina n-nār

has sustained my last breath regarding the freeing of my neck from the Fire,

وَ تَغَمُّدِ زَلَّتِي

wa taghammudi zallatī

and the covering of my slip,

وَ إِقَالَةِ عَثْرَتِي

wa iqālati ‘athratī

and the overlooking of my stumble.

اَللّٰهُمَّ قُلْتَ فِي كِتَابِكَ

Allāhumma qulta fī kitābik

O God, You said in Your Book,

وَ قَوْلُكَ الْحَقُّ الَّذِي لَا خُلْفَ لَهُ وَ لَا تَبْدِيلَ

wa qawluka l-ḥaqqu l-ladhī lā khulfa lahu wa lā tabdīl

and Your Word is the Truth which has no change nor substitution,

’’يَوْمَ نَدْعُو كُلَّ أُنَاسٍ بِإِمَامِهِمْ‘‘

"Yawma nad‘ū kulla unāsin bi-imāmihim"

"The Day We will call forth every people with their leader,"

وَ ذَلِكَ يَوْمُ النُّشُورِ

wa dhālika yawmu n-nushūr

and that is the Day of Resurrection,

إِذَا نُفِخَ فِي الصُّورِ

idhā nufikha fī ṣ-ṣūr

when the Horn is blown,

وَ ’’بُعْثِرَ مَا فِي الْقُبُورِ‘‘

wa "bu‘thira mā fī l-qubūr"

and "what is in the graves is scattered."

اَللّٰهُمَّ فَإِنِّي أُوفِي وَ أَشْهَدُ

Allāhumma fa-innī ūfī wa ashhad

O God, verily I fulfill, and I bear witness,

وَ أُقِرُّ وَ لَا أُنْكِرُ وَ لَا أَجْحَدُ

wa uqirru wa lā unkiru wa lā ajḥad

and I affirm, and I do not deny, and I do not disavow,

وَ أُسِرُّ وَ أُعْلِنُ وَ أُظْهِرُ وَ أُبْطِنُ

wa usirru wa u‘linu wa uẓhiru wa ubṭin

and I keep secret, and I announce, and I manifest, and I conceal,

بِأَنَّكَ أَنْتَ اللَّهُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ

bi-annaka Anta Llāhu lā ilāha illā Ant

that You are God, there is no god but You,

وَحْدَكَ لَا شَرِيكَ لَكَ

Waḥdaka lā sharīka lak

Alone, You have no partner,

وَ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُكَ وَ رَسُولُكَ

wa anna Muḥammadan ‘abduka wa rasūluk

and that Muḥammad is Your servant and Your Messenger,

صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ آلِهِ

ṣallā Llāhu ‘alayhi wa ālih

may God bless him and his progeny,

وَ أَنَّ عَلِيًّا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ

wa anna ‘Alīyan Amīra l-Mu’minīn

and that 'Alī, the Commander of the Faithful,

سَيِّدُ الْأَوْصِيَاءِ وَ وَارِثُ عِلْمِ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ

sayyidu l-awṣiyā’ wa wārithu ‘ilmi l-anbiyā’

is the Master of the Successors and the inheritor of the knowledge of the Prophets,

عَلَمُ الدِّينِ وَ مُبِيرُ الْمُشْرِكِينَ

‘alamu d-dīn wa mubīru l-mushrikīn

the flag of the religion and the destroyer of the polytheists,

وَ مُمَيِّزُ الْمُنَافِقِينَ

wa mumayyizu l-munāfiqīn

and the discriminator of the hypocrites,

وَ مُجَاهِدُ الْمَارِقِينَ

wa mujāhidu l-māriqīn

and the striver against the renegades,

وَ إِمَامِي وَ حُجَّتِي وَ عُرْوَتِي

wa imāmī wa ḥujjatī wa ‘urwatī

and my Leader and my proof and my handhold,

وَ صِرَاطِي وَ دَلِيلِي وَ حُجَّتِي

wa ṣirāṭī wa dalīlī wa ḥujjatī

and my path and my guide and my evidence,

وَ مَنْ لَا أَثِقُ بِأَعْمَالِي وَ لَوْ زَكَتْ

wa man lā athiqu bi-a‘mālī wa law zakat

and the one without whose guardianship I do not trust my deeds, even if they are pure,

وَ لَا أَرَاهَا مُنْجِيَةً لِي وَ لَوْ صَلُحَتْ

wa lā arāhā munjiyatan lī wa law ṣaluḥat

and I do not see them as saving me, even if they are righteous,

إِلَّا بِوِلَايَتِهِ وَ الْإِئْتِمَامِ بِهِ

illā bi-wilāyatihī wa l-i’timāmi bih

except through his guardianship and taking him as a leader,

وَ الْإِقْرَارِ بِفَضَائِلِهِ وَ الْقَبُولِ مِنْ حَمَلَتِهَا

wa l-iqrāri bi-faḍā’ilihi wa l-qabūli min ḥamaltihā

and the affirmation of his merits and the acceptance from those who bear them (the merits),

وَ التَّسْلِيمِ لِرُوَاتِهَا

wa t-taslīmi li-ruwātihā

and submission to those who narrate them.

وَ أُقِرُّ بِأَوْصِيَائِهِ مِنْ أَبْنَائِهِ

Wa uqirru bi-awṣiyā’ihī min abnā’ih

And I affirm his successors from his sons

أَئِمَّةً وَ حُجَجًا وَ أَدِلَّةً

a’immatan wa ḥujajān wa adillatan

as leaders and proofs and guides,

وَ سُرُجًا وَ أَعْلَامًا وَ مَنَارًا

wa surujān wa a‘lāmān wa manārā

and lamps and flags and beacons,

وَ سَادَةً وَ أَبْرَارًا

wa sādah wa abrārā

and masters and righteous ones.

وَ أُومِنُ بِسِرِّهِمْ وَ جَهْرِهِمْ

Wa ūminu bi-sirrihim wa jahrihim

And I believe in their secret and their open,

وَ ظَاهِرِهِمْ وَ بَاطِنِهِمْ

wa ẓāhirihim wa bāṭinihim

and their apparent and their hidden,

وَ شَاهِدِهِمْ وَ غَائِبِهِمْ

wa shāhidihim wa ghā’ibihim

and their present and their absent,

وَ حَيِّهِمْ وَ مَيِّتِهِمْ

wa ḥayyihim wa mayyitihim

and their living and their dead.

لَا شَكَّ فِي ذَلِكَ وَ لَا ارْتِيَابَ

Lā shakka fī dhālika wa lā rtīyāb

There is no doubt in that, and no suspicion,

عِنْدَ تَحَوُّلِكَ وَ لَا انْقِلَابَ

‘inda taḥawwulika wa lā nqilāb

at Your changing nor Your turning.

اَللّٰهُمَّ فَادْعُنِي يَوْمَ حَشْرِي وَ نَشْرِي

Allāhumma fa-d‘unī yawma ḥashrī wa nashrī

O God, call me on the Day of my gathering and my resurrection

بِإِمَامَتِهِمْ

bi-imāmatihim

by their leadership,

وَ أَنْقِذْنِي بِهِمْ يَا مَوْلَايَ مِنْ حَرِّ النِّيرَانِ

wa anqidhnī bihim yā Mawlāya min ḥarri n-nīrān

and save me through them, O my Master, from the heat of the Fires,

وَ إِنْ لَمْ تَرْزُقْنِي رَوْحَ الْجِنَانِ

wa in lam tarzuqnī rawḥa l-jinān

and even if You do not grant me the fragrance of the gardens (of Paradise).

فَإِنَّكَ إِنْ أَعْتَقْتَنِي مِنَ النَّارِ

Fa-innaka in a‘taqtanī mina n-nār

For verily, if You free me from the Fire,

كُنْتُ مِنَ الْفَائِزِينَ

kuntu mina l-fā’izīn

I will be among the successful.

اَللّٰهُمَّ وَ قَدْ أَصْبَحْتُ يَوْمِي هَذَا

Allāhumma wa qad aṣbaḥtu yawmī hādhā

O God, I have entered this day

لَا ثِقَةَ لِي وَ لَا رَجَاءَ وَ لَا لَجَاءَ

lā thiqata lī wa lā rajā’a wa lā lajā’a

with no trust, no hope, and no refuge,

وَ لَا مَفْزَعَ وَ لَا مَنْجَى

wa lā mafza‘a wa lā manjā

and no shelter, and no escape,

غَيْرَ مَنْ تَوَسَّلْتُ بِهِمْ إِلَيْكَ

ghayra man tawassaltu bihim ilayk

except through those whom I have made my means to You,

مُتَقَرِّبًا إِلَى رَسُولِكَ مُحَمَّدٍ

mutaqarriban ilā Rasūlika Muḥammad

seeking proximity to Your Messenger Muḥammad,

صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ آلِهِ

ṣallā Llāhu ‘alayhi wa ālih

may God bless him and his progeny,

ثُمَّ عَلِيٍّ أَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ

thumma ‘Alīyin Amīri l-Mu’minīn

then 'Alī, the Commander of the Faithful,

وَ الزَّهْرَاءِ سَيِّدَةِ نِسَاءِ الْعَالَمِينَ

wa z-Zahrā’i Sayyidati nisā’i l-‘ālamīn

and Az-Zahrā', the Mistress of the women of the worlds,

وَ الْحَسَنِ وَ الْحُسَيْنِ وَ عَلِيٍّ وَ مُحَمَّدٍ

wa l-Ḥasani wa l-Ḥusayni wa ‘Alīyin wa Muḥammadin

and Al-Ḥasan and Al-Ḥusayn, and 'Alī, and Muḥammad,

وَ جَعْفَرٍ وَ مُوسَى وَ عَلِيٍّ

wa Ja‘farin wa Mūsā wa ‘Alīyin

and Ja'far, and Mūsā, and 'Alī,

وَ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ عَلِيٍّ وَ الْحَسَنِ

wa Muḥammadin wa ‘Alīyin wa l-Ḥasan

and Muḥammad, and 'Alī, and Al-Ḥasan,

وَ مَنْ بَعْدَهُمْ يُقِيمُ الْمَحَجَّةَ

wa man ba‘dahum yuqīmu l-maḥajjah

and the one after them who establishes the clear path

إِلَى الْحُجَّةِ الْمَسْتُورَةِ مِنْ وُلْدِهِ

ilā l-ḥujjati l-mastūrati min wuldih

to the concealed Proof from his offspring,

الْمَرْجُوِّ لِلْأُمَّةِ مِنْ بَعْدِهِ

al-marjuwwi li-l-ummati min ba‘dih

who is hoped for by the community after him.

اَللّٰهُمَّ فَاجْعَلْهُمْ فِي هَذَا الْيَوْمِ

Allāhumma fa-j‘alhum fī hādhā l-yawm

O God, make them, on this day,

وَ مَا بَعْدَهُ حِصْنِي مِنَ الْمَكَارِهِ

wa mā ba‘dahu ḥiṣnī mina l-makārih

and what follows, my fortress against detestable things,

وَ مَعْقِلِي مِنَ الْمَخَاوِفِ

wa ma‘qilī mina l-makhāwif

and my stronghold against fears,

وَ نَجِّنِي بِهِمْ مِنْ كُلِّ عَدُوٍّ

wa najjinī bihim min kulli ‘aduww

and save me through them from every enemy,

وَ طَاغٍ وَ بَاغٍ وَ فَاسِقٍ

wa ṭāghin wa bāghin wa fāsiq

and oppressor, and transgressor, and wicked person,

وَ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا أَعْرِفُ وَ مَا أُنْكِرُ

wa min sharri mā a‘rifu wa mā unkir

and from the evil of what I know and what I deny,

وَ مَا اسْتَتَرَ عَنِّي وَ مَا أُبْصِرُ

wa mā statara ‘annī wa mā ubṣir

and what is hidden from me and what I see,

وَ مِنْ شَرِّ كُلِّ دَابَّةٍ رَبِّي آخِذٌ بِنَاصِيَتِهَا

wa min sharri kulli dābbatin Rabbī ākhidhun bi-nāṣiyatihā

and from the evil of every creature whose forelock my Lord seizes;

إِنَّكَ عَلَى صِرَاطٍ مُسْتَقِيمٍ

innaka ‘alā ṣirāṭin mustaqīm

indeed, You are on a straight path.

اَللّٰهُمَّ بِتَوَسُّلِي بِهِمْ إِلَيْكَ

Allāhumma bi-tawassulī bihim ilayk

O God, through my seeking means to You by them,

وَ تَقَرُّبِي بِمَحَبَّتِهِمْ

wa taqarrubī bi-maḥabbatihim

and my seeking proximity through my love for them,

وَ تَحَصُّنِي بِإِمَامَتِهِمْ

wa taḥaṣṣunī bi-imāmatihim

and my seeking protection through their leadership,

افْتَحْ عَلَيَّ فِي هَذَا الْيَوْمِ أَبْوَابَ رِزْقِكَ

iftaḥ ‘alayya fī hādhā l-yawmi abwāba rizqik

open for me on this day the doors of Your provision,

وَ انْشُرْ عَلَيَّ رَحْمَتَكَ

wa nshur ‘alayya raḥmatak

and spread Your mercy upon me,

وَ حَبِّبْنِي إِلَى خَلْقِكَ

wa ḥabbibnī ilā khalqik

and make me beloved to Your creation,

وَ جَنِّبْنِي بُغْضَهُمْ وَ عَدَاوَتَهُمْ

wa jannibnī bughḍahum wa ‘adāwatahum

and keep me away from their hatred and their enmity.

إِنَّكَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

Innaka ‘alā kulli shay’in qadīr

Indeed, You are capable of all things.

اَللّٰهُمَّ وَ لِكُلِّ مُتَوَسِّلٍ ثَوَابٌ

Allāhumma wa li-kulli mutawassilin thawāb

O God, for every seeker of means there is a reward,

وَ لِكُلِّ ذِي شَفَاعَةٍ حَقٌّ

wa li-kulli dhī shafā‘atin ḥaqq

and for every possessor of intercession there is a right.

فَأَسْأَلُكَ بِمَنْ جَعَلْتُهُ وَسِيلَتِي إِلَيْكَ

Fa-as’aluka bi-man ja‘altuhu wasīlatī ilayk

So, I ask You by those whom I have made my means to You,

وَ قَدَّمْتُهُ أَمَامَ طَلِبَتِي

wa qaddamtu-hu amāma ṭalibatī

and whom I have placed before my request,

أَنْ تُعَرِّفَنِي بَرَكَةَ يَوْمِي هَذَا

an tu‘arrifanī barakata yawmī hādhā

to make me know the blessing of this day of mine,

وَ شَهْرِي هَذَا وَ عَامِي هَذَا

wa shahrī hādhā wa ‘āmī hādhā

and this month of mine, and this year of mine.

اَللّٰهُمَّ وَ هُمْ مَفْزَعِي وَ مَعُونَتِي

Allāhumma wa hum mafza‘ī wa ma‘ūnatī

O God, they are my shelter and my aid

فِي شِدَّتِي وَ رَخَائِي

fī shiddatī wa rakhā’ī

in my hardship and my ease,

وَ عَافِيَتِي وَ بَلَائِي

wa ‘āfiyatī wa balā’ī

and my well-being and my tribulation,

وَ نَوْمِي وَ يَقَظَتِي

wa nawmī wa yaqaẓatī

and my sleep and my wakefulness,

وَ ظَعْنِي وَ إِقَامَتِي

wa ẓa‘nī wa iqāmatī

and my travel and my stay,

وَ عُسْرِي وَ يُسْرِي

wa ‘usrī wa yusrī

and my difficulty and my ease,

وَ عَلَانِيَتِي وَ سِرِّي

wa ‘alāniyatī wa sirrī

and my open and my secret,

وَ إِصْبَاحِي وَ إِمْسَائِي

wa iṣbāḥī wa imsā’ī

and my morning and my evening,

وَ تَقَلُّبِي وَ مَثْوَايَ

wa taqallubī wa mathwāy

and my movements and my resting place,

وَ سِرِّي وَ جَهْرِي

wa sirrī wa jahrī

and my secret and my open.

اَللّٰهُمَّ فَلَا تُخَيِّبْنِي بِهِمْ مِنْ نَائِلِكَ

Allāhumma fa-lā tukhayyibnī bihim min nā’ilik

O God, do not disappoint me through them from Your gift,

وَ لَا تَقْطَعْ رَجَائِي مِنْ رَحْمَتِكَ

wa lā taqṭa‘ rajā’ī min raḥmatik

and do not cut off my hope from Your mercy,

وَ لَا تُؤْيِسْنِي مِنْ رَوْحِكَ

wa lā tu’yisnī min rawḥik

and do not make me despair of Your solace,

وَ لَا تَبْتَلِنِي بِانْغِلَاقِ أَبْوَابِ الْأَرْزَاقِ

wa lā tabtalinī bi-inghilāqi abwābi l-arzāq

and do not try me with the closing of the doors of provisions,

وَ انْسِدَادِ مَسَالِكِهَا

wa insidādi masālikihā

and the blockage of its paths,

وَ ارْتِيَاحِ مَذَاهِبِهَا

wa rtiyāḥi madhāhibihā

and the turning away of its sources.

وَ افْتَحْ لِي مِنْ لَدُنْكَ فَتْحًا يَسِيرًا

Wa ftaḥ lī min ladunka fatḥan yasīrā

And open for me from Your presence an easy opening,

وَ اجْعَلْ لِي مِنْ كُلِّ ضَنَكٍ مَخْرَجًا

wa j‘al lī min kulli ḍanakin makhrajā

and make for me an exit from every distress,

وَ إِلَى كُلِّ سِعَةٍ مَنْهَجًا

wa ilā kulli si‘atin manhajā

and a path to every amplitude.

إِنَّكَ أَرْحَمُ الرَّاحِمِينَ

Innaka Arḥamu r-Rāḥimīn

Indeed, You are the Most Merciful of the merciful.

وَ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ الطَّيِّبِينَ الطَّاهِرِينَ

Wa ṣallā Llāhu ‘alā Muḥammadin wa ālihi ṭ-ṭayyibīna ṭ-ṭāhirīn

And may God bless Muḥammad and his pure and clean progeny.

آمِينَ رَبَّ الْعَالَمِينَ

Āmīn Rabba l-‘ālamīn

Amen, O Lord of the worlds.

يَا رَؤُوْفُ يَا رَحِيْمُ.

yaa ra-oofo yaa raheemo.

O Compassionate, O Merciful.

اُعِيْذُ نَفْسِيْ بِرَبِّ الْاَرْضِ وَ رَبِّ السَّمَاءِ اُعِيْذُ نَفْسِيْ بِالَّذِيْ لَا يَضُرُّ مَعَ اسْمِهٖ دَاءٌ اُعِيْذُ نَفْسِيْ بِالَّذِيْ اسْمُهٗ بَرَكَةٌ وَ شِفَاءٌ.

o-e’ezo nafsee be-rabbil arze wa rabbis samaaa-e o-e’ezo nafsee bil-lazee laa yazurro ma-a’s mehi daa-un o-e’ezo nafsee bil-lazis mohu baraktun wa shefaaun.

I seek protection for myself in the Lord of the earth and the Lord of the heavens. I seek protection for myself in Him with Whose Name no disease causes harm. I seek protection for myself in Him Whose Name is a blessing and a healing.[16]

يَا مُنْزِلَ الشِّفَاءِ وَ مُذْهِبَ الدَّاءِ اَنْزِلْ عَلٰى وَجَعِيَ الشِّفَاءِ.

yaa munzelash shefaaa-e wa muzhebad daa-e anzil a’laa waja-e’yash shefaa-e.

O Bestower of healing and Remover of illness, send down healing for my ailment.'[17]

بِسْمِ اللهِ الْعَظِيْمِ بِسْمِ اللهِ الْعَظِيْمِ رَبِّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيْمِ اِلَّا ذَهَبْتَ وَ انْقَرَضْتَ.

bismil laahil a’zeeme bismil laahil a’zeeme rabbil a’rshil a’zeeme illaa zahab-ta wan qarazta.

In the name of Allah, the Great, in the name of Allah, the Great, Lord of the Mighty Throne, but that it left and perished.[19]

وَعِنْدَهٗ مَفَاتِـحُ الْغَيْبِ لَا يَعْلَمُهَآ اِلَّا هُوَ۝۰ۭ وَيَعْلَمُ مَا فِيْ الْبَرِّ وَالْبَحْرِ۝۰ۭ وَمَا تَسْقُطُ مِنْ وَّرَقَۃٍ اِلَّا يَعْلَمُهَا وَلَا حَبَّۃٍ فِيْ ظُلُمٰتِ الْاَرْضِ وَلَا رَطْبٍ وَّلَا يَابِسٍ اِلَّا فِيْ كِتٰبٍ مُّبِيْنٍ۝۵۹

wa i’ndahu mafaatehul ghaybe laa ya’lamohaa illaa hoo, wa ya’lamo maa fil barre wal bahr, wa maa tasqoto minw waraqatin illaa ya’lamohaa wa laa habbatin fee zolomaatil arze wa laa ratbinw wa laa yaabesin illaa fee ketaabim mobeen.

With Him are the keys of the unseen, the treasures that none knows but He. He knows whatever there is on the earth and in the sea. Not a leaf does fall but with His knowledge: there is not a grain in the darkness (or depths) of the earth, nor anything fresh or dry (green or withered), but is (inscribed) in a record clear (to those who can read).[21]

اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنَّكَ تَـهْدِيْ مِنَ الضَّلَالَةِ وَ تُنْجِيْ مِنَ الْعَمٰى وَ تَرُدُّ الضَّالَّةَ صَلِّ عَلٰى مُـحَمَّدٍ وَ اٰلِ مُـحَمَّدٍ وَ اغْفِرْ لِيْ وَ رُدَّ ضَالَّتِيْ وَ صَلِّ عَلٰى مُـحَمَّدٍ وَ اٰلِهٖ وَ سَلَّمَ.

allaahumma innaka tahdee menaz zalaalate wa tunjee menal a’maa wa tarudduz zaallata salle a’laa mohammadin wa aale mohammadin wagh fir lee wa rudda zaal-latee wa salle a’laa mohammadin wa aalehi wa sallam.

O Allah! You guide one who is misguided and You save from blindness, and return the lost property. Bless Muhammad and his progeny and forgive me and return to me my lost property and bless Muhammad and his progeny and peace (be upon them).[22]

يَا فَارِجَ الْهَمِّ وَكَاشِفَ الغَمِّ،

yaa faarijal-ham wa kaashifal-gham

1.O Reliever of worry! O Remover of grief!

يَا رَحْمنَ الدُّنْيَا وَالآخِرَةِ وَرَحِيمَهُمَا،

yaa rah'-maanad-dunyaa wal-akhirati warah'eemahumaa

2.O Merciful in this world and the next and Compassionate in both!

صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد وَآلِ مُحَمَّد،

s'al-li a'laa muh'am-madiw-wa aaali muh'am-mad

3.Bless Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad,

وَافْرُجْ هَمِّيَ، وَاكْشِفْ غَمِّيَ،

waf-ruj ham-mee wak-shif gham-mee

4.relieve my worry, and remove my grief!

يَا وَاحِدُ يَا أَحَدُ، يَا صَمَدُ،

yaa waah'idu yaaa ah'adu yaa s'amad

5.O One, O Unique, O Eternal Refuge!

يَامَنْ لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ،

yaa mal-lam yalid walam yoolad-

6.O He Who has not begotten, nor has been begotten,

وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ كُفُواً أَحَدٌ،

wa lam yakul-lahoo kufuwan ah'ad

7.and equal to Him is not any one!

اعْصِمْنِي وَطَهِّرْنِي، وَاْذهِبْ بِبَلِيَّتِي.

ia'-s'im-nee wat'ah-hir-nee wad'-hab bibalee-yatee

[وَاقْرَأْ آيَةَ الْكُرسِيّ وَالْمُعَوِّذَتَيْنِ وَقُلْ هُوَ اللهُ أَحَدٌ وَقُلْ:]

waq-raa aaayatal-kur-see-yi wal-mua'w-wad'atay-ni wa (qul huwal-laahooo ah'ad) waqul:

9.Here You Should Recite The Throne Verse (2: 255), The Two Suras Of Taking Refuge (113-114), And Unity (112). Then Say:

أَللَّهُمَّ إنِّيْ أَسْأَلُكَ سُؤَالَ مَنِ اشْتَدَّتْ فَاقَتُهُ،

al-laahum-ma in-neee as-aluka soo-aala man ishtad-dat faaqatuh

10.O God, I ask You with the asking of him whose neediness is intense,

وَضَعُفَتْ قُوَّتُهُ، وَكَثُرَتْ ذُنُوبُهُ،

wa z''au'fat qoo-watuh wa kathurat d'unoobuh

11.whose strength is frail, whose sins are many,

سُؤَالَ مَنْ لاَ يَجِدُ لِفَاقَتِهِ مُغِيْثاً،

soo-aala mal-laa yajidu lifaaqatihee mugheethaa

12.the asking of one who finds no helper in his neediness,

وَلاَ لِضَعْفِهِ مُقَوِّياً،

wa laa liz''aa'-fihee muqaw-weeaa

13.no strengthener in his frailty,

وَلاَ لِذَنْبِهِ غَافِراً غَيْرَكَ،

wa laa lid'ambihee ghaafiran ghay-rak

14.no forgiver of his sin other than You,

يَا ذَا الْجَلاَلِ وَالإكْرَامِ.

yaa d'aal-jalaali wal-ik-raam

15.O Possessor of majesty and munificence!

أَسْأَلُكَ عَمَلاً تُحِبُّ بِهِ مَنْ عَمِلَ بِهِ،

as-aluk a'malana tuh'ib-bu bihee man a'mila bih

16.I ask of You a work through which You wilt love him who works it

وَيَقِيناً تَنْفَعُ بِهِ مَنِ اسْتَيْقَنَ بِهِ

wa yaqeenana tanfau' bihee mani as-tay-qana bihee

17.and a certainty by which You wilt profit him who is certain

حَقَّ الْيَقِينِ فِيْ نَفَاذِ أَمْرِكَ.

h'aq-qal-yaqeeni fee nafaad'i am-rik

18.with the truth of certainty concerning the execution of Your command!

أللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد وَآلِ مُحَمَّد،

al-laahum-ma s'al-li a'laa muh'am-madiw-waaali muh'am-mad

19.O God, bless Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad,

وَاقْبِضَ عَلَى الصِّدْقِ نَفْسِي،

waq-biz'' a'laas'-s'id-qi naf-see

20.take my soul while it is firm in sincerity,

وَاقْطَعْ مِنَ الدُّنْيَا حَاجَتِي،

waq-t'aa' minad-dunyaa h'aajatee

21.cut off my need for this world,

وَاجْعَلْ فِيمَا عِنْدَكَ رَغْبَتِي،

waj-a'l feemaa i'ndaka ragh-batee

22.make my desire for what is with You

شَوْقاً إلَى لِقَائِكَ،

shaw-qan ilaa liqaaa-ik

23.become a yearning to meet You,

وَهَبْ لِي صِدْقَ التَّوَكُّلِ عَلَيْكَ .

wa hab lee s'id-qat-tawk-kuli a'lay-k

24.and give me true confidence in You!

أَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ خَيْرِ كِتَاب قَدْ خَلاَ وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ

as-aluka min khay-ri kitaabin qad khalaa wa au'wd'u bika

25.I ask of You the good of the writ that has been made and I seek refuge with You

مِنْ شَرِّ كِتَاب قَدْ خَلاَ

min shar-ri kitaabin qad khalaa

26.from the evil of the writ that has been made.

أَسْأَلُكَ خَوْفَ الْعَابِدِينَ لَكَ،

as-aluk khaw-fal-a'abideena lak

27.I ask of You the fear of The worshipers,

وَعِبَادَةَ الْخَاشِعِينَ لَكَ،

wa i'baadatal-khaashie'ena lak

28.the worship of those humbly fearful of You,

وَيَقِيْنَ الْمُتَوَكِّلِينَ عَلَيْكَ،

wa yaqeenal-mutawak-kileena a'lay-k

29.the certainty of those who have confidence in You,

وَتَوَكُّلَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ عَلَيْكَ.

wa tawak-kulal-moo-mineena a'lay-k

30.and the confidence of those who have faith in You.

أَللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْ رَغْبَتِي فِي مَسْأَلَتِي

al-laahum-ma aj-a'l- ragh-batee fee mas-alatee

31.O God, make my desire in my asking

مِثْلَ رَغْبَةِ أَوْلِيَآئِكَ فِي مَسَائِلِهِمْ،

mith-la ragh-bati aw-leeaaa-ika fee masaaa-ilihim-

32.like the desire of Your friends in their asking,

وَرَهْبَتِيْ مِثْلَ رَهْبَةِ أَوْلِيَآئِكَ،

wa rah-batee mith-la rah-bati aw-leeaaa-ik

33.and my fear like the fear of Your friends!

وَاسْتَعْمِلْنِي فِي مَرْضَاتِكَ،

was-taa'-mil-nee fee mar-z''aatika

34.Employ me in Your good pleasure through works

عَمَلاً لاَ أَتْرُكُ مَعَهُ شَيْئاً مِنْ دِيْنِكَ

a'malal-laaa at-ruku maa'hoo shay-am-min deenika

35.in which I will not leave aside anything of Your religion

مَخَافَةَ أَحْد مِنْ خَلْقِكَ.

makhaafata ah'adim-min khal-qik

36.fearing any of Your creatures!

أللَّهُمَّ هَذِهِ حَاجَتِي، فَأَعْظِمْ فِيهَا رَغْبَتِي،

al-laahum-ma hd'ihee h'aajatee faaa'-z'im feehaa ragh-batee

37.God, this is my need, so make my desire for it great,

وَأَظْهِرْ فِيهَا عُذْرِي، وَلَقِّنِي فِيهَا حُجَّتِي وَعَافِ فِيْهَا جَسَدِيْ.

wa az'-hir feehaa u'd'-ree wa laq-qinee feehaa h'uj-jatee wa a'afi feehaa jasadee

38.within it make manifest my excuse, through it instil me with my argument, and by means of it make well my body!

أللَّهُمَّ مَنْ أَصْبَحَ لَهُ ثِقَةٌ أَوْ رَجَآءٌ غَيْرُكَ،

al-laahum-ma man as'-bah'a lahoo thiqatun aw rajaaa-un ghay-ruk

39.O God, some rise in the morning having trust or hope in other than You.

فَقَدْ أَصْبَحْتُ وَأَنْتَ ثِقَتِي

faqad as'-bah'-tu wa anta thiqatee

40.I rise in the morning, and You art my trust

وَرَجَآئِي فِي الأُمُورِ كُلِّهَا،

wa rjaaa-ee fil-umoori kul-lihaa

41.and my hope in all affairs,

فَاقْضِ لِيْ بِخَيْرِهَا عَاقِبَةً،

faq-z''i lee bikhay-rihaa a'aqibah

42.so decree for me those which are best in outcome

وَنَجِّنِيْ مِنْ مُضِلاَّتِ الْفِتَنِ،

wa naj-jinee mim-muz''il-laa ti alfitan

43.and deliver me from misguiding trials,

بِرَحْمَتِكَ يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ.

birah'-matika yaaa ar-h'amar-raah'imeen

44.O Most Merciful of the merciful!

وَصَلَّى اللهُ عَلَى سَيِّدِنَا مُحَمَّد رُسُولِ اللهِ المُصْطَفَى،

wa s'al-laal-laahoo a'laa say-yidinaa muh'am-madir-rasoolil-laahil-mus'-t'afaa

45.And God bless our chief, Muhammad the Messenger of God, the chosen,

وَعَلَى آلِهِ الطَّاهِرِينَ.

wa a'laaa aaalihit'-t'aahireen

46.and his Household, the pure!
