- 1
وَإِنْ تَشَأْ تُعَذِّبْنَا فَبِعَدْلِكَ،
And if You will, You punish us by Your justice,
- 2
فَسَهِّلْ لَنَا عَفْوَكَ بِمَنِّكَ،
So make easy for us Your pardon by Your bounty,
- 3
وَأَجِرْنَا مِنْ عَذَابِكَ بِتَجَاوُزِكَ؛
And save us from Your punishment by Your forgiveness;
- 4
فَإِنَّهُ لَا طَاقَةَ لَنَا بِعَدْلِكَ،
For we have no strength to bear Your justice,
- 5
وَلَا نَجَاةَ لِأَحَدٍ مِنَّا دُونَ عَفْوِكَ.
And none of us can be saved without Your pardon.
- 6
يَا غَنِيَّ الأَغْنِيَاءِهَا، نَحْنُ عِبَادُكَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْكَ،
O Richest of the rich, here we are, Your servants before You,
- 7
وَأَنَا أَفْقَرُ الفُقَرَاءِ إِلَيْكَ، فَاجْبُرْ فَاقَتَنَا بِوُسْعِكَ،
And I am the poorest of the poor to You, so mend our poverty with Your ability,
- 8
وَلَا تَقْطَعْ رَجَاءَنَا بِمَنْعِكَ،
And do not cut off our hope by withholding,
- 9
فَتَكُونَ قَدْ أَشْقَيْتَ مَنِ اسْتَسْعَدَ بِكَ،
So You would have made wretched one who sought happiness through You,
- 10
وَحَرَمْتَ مَنِ اسْتَرْفَدَ فَضْلَكَ.
And deprived one who sought the bounty from You.
- 11
فَإِلَى مَنْ حِينَئِذٍ مُنْقَلَبُنَا عَنْكَ،
Then to whom shall we turn away from You,?
- 12
وَإِلَى أَيْنَ مَذْهَبُنَا عَنْ بَابِكَ،
And where shall we go away from Your door,
- 13
سُبْحَانَكَ نَحْنُ الْمُضْطَرُّونَ الَّذِينَ أَوْجَبْتَ إِجَابَتَهُمْ،
Glory be to You, we are the distressed ones whose answer You have made obligatory,
- 14
وَأَهْلُ السُّوءِ الَّذِينَ وَعَدْتَ الْكَشْفَ عَنْهُمْ.
And the people of evil whom You promised to relieve.

وَأَشْبَهُ الأَشْيَاءِ بِمَشِيئَتِكَ،
And the most resembling of things to Your will,
- 16
وَأَوْلَى الأُمُورِ بِكَ فِي عَظَمَتِكَ رَحْمَةُ مَنِ اسْتَرْحَمَكَ،
And the most befitting of matters for You in Your greatness is the mercy upon one who seeks it from You,
- 17
وَغَوْثُ مَنِ اسْتَغَاثَ بِكَ،
And the aid to one who seeks help from You,
- 18
فَارْحَمْ تَضَرُّعَنَا إِلَيْكَ،
So have mercy upon our supplication to You,
- 19
وَأَغْنِنَا إِذْ طَرَحْنَا أَنْفُسَنَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْكَ.
And enrich us as we have cast ourselves before You.

اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ قَدْ شَمِتَ بِنَا إِذْ شَايَعْنَاهُ عَلَى مَعْصِيَتِكَ،
O Allah, Satan has rejoiced over us when we sided with him in disobeying You,
- 21
فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِهِ،
So send blessings upon Muhammad and his family,
- 22
وَلَا تُشْمِتْهُ بِنَا بَعْدَ تَرْكِنَا إِيَّاهُ لَكَ،
And do not let him rejoice over us after we abandoned him for Your sake,
- 23
وَرَغْبَتِنَا عَنْهُ إِلَيْكَ.
And turned our desire away from him towards You.
- 24
اللّهُمَّ إن تَشَأْ تعفُ عَنّا فَبِفضْلِكَ ،
1. O God, if You willest, You wilt pardon us through Your bounty
- 25
وَانْ تَشَأْ تُعَذِّبْنا فَبَعدْلِكَ. فَسَهِّلْ لَنَا عَفْوَكَ بِمنِّكَ ،
2. and if You willest, You wilt chastise us through Your justice. So make our ways smooth to Your pardon through Your kindness
- 26
وَأَجِرْنَا مِنْ عَذَابِكَ بِتَجاوُزكَ; فَإنَّهُ لاَ طاقَةَ لَنَا بَعدلِكَ،
3. and grant us sanctuary from Your chastisement through Your forbearance, for none of us has the endurance for Your justice
- 27
وَلاَ نجاةَ لأحَد مِنّا دُوْنَ عَفْوِكَ.
4. and none of us can reach deliverance without Your pardon!

يا غَنِيَّ الأغْنياء هَا نَحَنُ عِبادُكَ بين يدَيكَ
5. O Richest of the rich! Here we are, Your servants, before You.
- 29
وَأَنَا أَفقَرُ الفْقَراء إليْكَ فَأجْبُرْ فاقَتَنا بِوُسْعِكَ ،
6. I am the neediest of the needy toward You, so redress our neediness through Your plenty
- 30
ولا تَقْطَعَ رَجَاءنا بِمَنْعِكَ فَتَكُوْنَ قد أَشْقَيْتَ مَنِ اسْتَسْعَدَ بِكَ ،
7. and cut us not off from our hopes through Your withholding, lest You makest wretched him who seeks felicity through You

وَحَرَمْتَ مَنِ اسْتَرْفَدَ فَضْلَكَ.
8. and deprivest him who seeks help from Your bounty!
- 32
فَإلى مَنْ حيْنئذ مُنْقَلَبُنَا عَنْكَ ،
9. Then to whom would we return after You?
- 33
وإلى أيْنَ مَذهَبُنَا عن بَابِكَ ،
10. Where would we go from Your gate?
- 34
سُبْحَنَكَ نَحْنُ المضْطُّرون الذّينَ أَوْجَبْتَ إجابَتَهُمْ ،
11. Glory be to You! We are the distressed, the response to whom You hast made incumbent,
- 35
وَأهْلُ السُّوْء الذّيْنَ وَعَدْتَ الْكَشْفَ عَنْهُمْ.
12. the people from whom You hast promised to remove the evil.
- 36
وَأَشْبَـهُ الأَشْياءِ بِمَشِيَّتِـكَ ،
13. That thing most resembling Your will
- 37
وَأَوْلَى الأمُورِ بِكَ فِيْ عَظَمَتِكَ رَحْمَةُ مَنِ اسْتَرْحَمَكَ،
14. and that affair most worthy for You in Your mightiness is showing mercy to him who asks You for mercy
- 38
وَغَوْثُ مَنِ اسْتَغَاثَ بِكَ، فَارْحَمْ تَضَرُّعَنَا إلَيْكَ،
15. and helping him who seeks help from You. So show mercy upon our pleading with You
- 39
وَأَغْنِنَا إذْ طَرَحْنَـا أَنْفُسَنَا بَيْنَ يَـدَيْكَ.
16. and free us from need when we throw ourselves before You!
- 40
أللَّهُمَّ إنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ قَدْ شمِتَ بِنَا إذْ شَايَعْنَاهُ عَلَى مَعْصِيَتِكَ،
17. O God, Satan will gloat over us if we follow him in disobeying You,
- 41
فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد وَآلِهِ
18. so bless Muhammad and his Household
- 42
وَلا تُشْمِتْهُ بِنَا بَعْدَ تَرْكِنَا إيَّاهُ لَكَ،
19. and let him not gloat over us after we have renounced him for You
- 43
وَرَغْبَتِنَا عَنْهُ إلَيْكَ.
20. and beseeched You against him!
