Ziyarat Imam Husain(as) on the eve of Eid

يا مَوْلايَ يا أَبا عَبْدِ الله يا بْنَ رَسُولِ الله عَبْدُكَ وَابْنُ أَمَتِكَ الذَّلِيلُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْكَ وَالمُصَغَّرُ فِي عُلُوِّ قَدْرِكَ وَالمُعْتَرِفُ بِحَقِّكَ جأَكَ مُسْتَجِيراً بِكَ قاصِداً إِلى حَرَمِكَ مُتَوَجِّها إلى مَقامِكَ مُتَوَسِّلاً إِلى الله تَعالى بِكَ ، أَأَدْخُلُ يا مَوْلايَ أَأَدْخُلُ يا وَلِيَّ الله أَأَدْخُلُ يا مَلائِكَةَ الله المُحْدِقِينَ بِهذا الحَرَمِ المُقِيمِينَ فِي هذا المَشْهَدِ.

O my Master, O Abu Abdullah, O son of the Messenger of Allah, your servant and the son of your handmaid, the humble one before you, the insignificant one before your lofty status, the one who acknowledges your right, has come seeking your protection, heading toward your sanctuary, turning toward your station, seeking intercession with Allah the Exalted through you. May I enter, O my Master? May I enter, O friend of Allah? May I enter, O angels of Allah who surround this sanctuary and reside in this holy place?

بِسْمِ الله وَبِالله وَفِي سَبِيلِ الله وَعَلى مِلَّةِ رَسُولِ الله اللّهُمَّ أَنْزِلْنِي مُنْزَلاً مُبارَكا وَأَنْتَ

In the name of Allah, and by Allah, and in the way of Allah, and upon the creed of the Messenger of Allah. O Allah, grant me a blessed abode, and You are

الله أَكْبَرُ كَبِيراً والحمدلله كثيراً وَسُبْحانَ الله بُكْرَةً وَأَصِيلاً وَالحَمْدُ للهِ الفَرْدِ الصَّمَدِ الماجِدِ الاَحَدِ المُتَفَضِّلِ المَنَّانِ المُتَطَوِّلِ الحَنَّانِ الَّذِي مِنْ تَطَوُّلِهِ سَهَّلَ لِي زِيارَةَ مَوْلايَ بِإِحْسانِهِ وَلَمْ يَجْعَلْنِي عَنْ زِيارَتِهِ مَمْنُوعاً وَلا عَنْ ذِمَّتِهِ مَدْفُوعاً بَلْ تَطَوَّلَ وَمَنَحَ.

Allah is the Greatest, greatly so, and praise be to Allah, abundantly, and glory be to Allah morning and evening. And praise be to Allah, the One, the Eternal, the Glorious, the Unique, the Gracious, the Benevolent, the Generous, the Compassionate, Who through His generosity made easy for me the visitation of my master with His bounty, and did not deprive me of his visitation, nor repel me from his protection, but rather showed generosity and bestowed.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَارِثَ آدَمَ صَفْوَةِ ٱللَّهِ

alssalamu `alayka ya waritha adama safwati allahi

Peace be upon you, O heir of Adam, the chosen one of Allah.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَارِثَ نُوحٍ امِينِ ٱللَّهِ

alssalamu `alayka ya waritha nuhin amini allahi

Peace be upon you, O heir of Nuh, the trustee of Allah.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَارِثَ إِبْرَاهِيمَ خَلِيلِ ٱللَّهِ

alssalamu `alayka ya waritha ibrahima khalili allahi

Peace be upon you, O heir of Ibrahim, the friend of Allah.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَارِثَ مُوسَىٰ كَلِيمِ ٱللَّهِ

alssalamu `alayka ya waritha musa kalimi allahi

Peace be upon you, O heir of Musa, the one who spoke with Allah.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَارِثَ عِيسَىٰ رُوحِ ٱللَّهِ

alssalamu `alayka ya waritha `isa ruhi allahi

Peace be upon you, O heir of Isa, the spirit of Allah.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَارِثَ مُحَمَّدٍ

alssalamu `alayka ya waritha muhammadin

Peace be upon you, O heir of Muhammad,

صَلَّىٰ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ حَبِيبِ ٱللَّهِ

salla allahu `alayhi wa alihi habibi allahi

may Allah's blessings be upon him and his family, the beloved of Allah.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَارِثَ عَلِيٍّ حُجَّةِ ٱللَّهِ

alssalamu `alayka ya waritha `aliyyin hujjati allahi

Peace be upon you, O heir of Ali, the proof of Allah.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ ايُّهَا ٱلْوَصِيُّ ٱلْبَرُّ ٱلْتَّقِيُّ

alssalamu `alayka ayyuha alwasiyyu albarru alttqiyyu

Peace be upon you, O righteous and pious successor.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا ثَارَ ٱللَّهِ وَٱبْنَ ثَارِهِ وَٱلْوِتْرَ ٱلْمَوْتُورَ

alssalamu `alayka ya thara allahi wabna tharihi walwitra almawtura

Peace be upon you, O the blood of Allah and the son of His blood, and the one whose vengeance remains to be taken.

اشْهَدُ انَّكَ قَدْ اقَمْتَ ٱلصَّلاَةَ

ashhadu annaka qad aqamta alssalata

I bear witness that you established the prayer,

وَآتَيْتَ ٱلزَّكَاةَ

wa atayta alzzakata

and gave the alms-tax,

وَامَرْتَ بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ

wa amarta bilma`rufi

and commanded the good,

وَنَهَيْتَ عَنِ ٱلْمُنْكَرِ

wa nahayta `an almunkari

and forbade the evil,

وَجَاهَدْتَ فِي ٱللَّهِ حَقَّ جِهَادِهِ

wa jahadta fi allahi haqqa jihadihi

and strove in the way of Allah with the striving due to Him,

حَتَّىٰ ٱسْتُبيحَ حَرَمُكَ وَقُتِلْتَ مَظْلُوماً

hatta istubiha haramuka wa qutilta mazluman

until your sanctuary was violated and you were killed unjustly.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا ابَا عَبْدِ ٱللَّهِ

alssalamu `alayka ya aba `abdillahi

Peace be upon you, O Abu Abdullah.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا بْنَ رَسُولِ ٱللَّهِ

alssalamu `alayka yabna rasuli allahi

Peace be upon you, O son of the Messenger of Allah.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا بْنَ سَيِّدِ ٱلْوَصِيِّينَ

alssalamu `alayka yabna sayyidi alwasiyyina

Peace be upon you, O son of the chief of the successors.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا بْنَ فَاطِمَةَ ٱلزَّهْرَاءِ

alssalamu `alayka yabna fatimata alzzahra'i

Peace be upon you, O son of Fatimah al-Zahra,

سَيِّدَةِ نِسَاءِ ٱلْعَالَمِينَ

sayyidati nisa'i al`alamina

the mistress of the women of the worlds.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا بَطَلَ ٱلْمُسْلِمِينَ

alssalamu `alayka ya batala almuslimina

Peace be upon you, O champion of the Muslims.

يَا مَوْلاَيَ

ya mawlaya

O my Master,

اشْهَدُ انَّكَ كُنْتَ نُوراً فِي ٱلاصْلاَبِ ٱلشَّامِخَةِ

ashhadu annaka kunta nuran fi al-aslabi alshshamikhati

I bear witness that you were a light in the lofty loins

وَٱلارْحَامِ ٱلْمُطَهَّرَةِ

wal-arhami almutahharati

and the purified wombs.

لَمْ تُنَجِّسْكَ ٱلْجَاهِلِيَّةُ بِانْجَاسِهَا

lam tunajjiska aljahiliyyatu bi'anjasiha

The ignorance did not defile you with its impurities,

وَلَمْ تُلْبِسْكَ مِنْ مُدْلَهِمَّاتِ ثِيَابِهَا

wa lam tulbiska min mudlahimmati thiyabiha

nor did it clothe you with its dark garments.

وَاشْهَدُ انَّكَ مِنْ دَعَائِمِ ٱلدِّينِ

wa ashhadu annaka min da`a'imi alddini

And I bear witness that you are among the pillars of the religion

وَارْكَانِ ٱلْمُسْلِمِينَ

wa arkani almuslimina

and the foundations of the Muslims

وَمَعْقِلِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ

wa ma`qili almu'minina

and the refuge of the believers.

وَاشْهَدُ انَّكَ ٱلإِمَامُ ٱلْبَرُّ ٱلتَّقِيُّ ٱلرَّضِيُّ

wa ashhadu annaka al-imamu albarru alttqiyyu alrrdiyyu

And I bear witness that you are the Imam, righteous, pious, and approved,

ٱلزَّكِيُّ ٱلْهَادِي ٱلْمَهْدِيُّ

alzzakiyyu alhadi almahdiyyu

the pure, the guide, and the rightly guided.

وَاشْهَدُ انَّ ٱلائِمَّةَ مِنْ وُلْدِكَ

wa ashhadu anna al-a'immata min wuldika

And I bear witness that the Imams from your progeny

كَلِمَةُ ٱلتَّقْوَىٰ وَاعْلاَمُ ٱلْهُدَىٰ

kalimatu alttaqwa wa a`lamu alhuda

are the word of piety and the signs of guidance,

وَٱلْعُروَةُ ٱلْوُثْقَىٰ

wal`urwatu alwuthqa

and the firmest handle,

وَٱلْحُجَّةُ عَلَىٰ اهْلِ ٱلدُّنْيَا

walhujjatu `ala ahli alddunya

and the proof against the people of this world.

إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ

inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji`una

Indeed we belong to Allah and to Him we shall return.

يَا مَوْلاَيَ انَا مُوَالٍ لِوَلِيِّكُمْ

ya mawlaya ana muwalin liwaliyyikum

O my Master, I am a friend of your friend,

وَمُعَادٍ لِعَدُوِّكُمْ

wa mu`adin li`aduwwikum

and an enemy of your enemy.

وَانَا بِكُمْ مُؤْمِنٌ وَبِإِيَابِكُمْ

wa ana bikum mu'minun wa bi'iyabikum

And I believe in you and in your return,

مُوقِنٌ بِشَرَايعِ دِينِي

muqinun bisharayi`i dini

firmly convinced, through the laws of my religion

وَخَوَاتيمِ عَمَلِي

wa khawatimi `amali

and the conclusion of my deeds.

وَقَلْبِي لِقَلْبِكُمْ سِلْمٌ

wa qalbi liqalbikum silmun

And my heart is at peace with your heart,

وَامْرِي لاِمْرِكُمْ مُتَّبِعٌ

wa amri li'amrikum muttabi`un

and my affair follows your affair.

يَا مَوْلاَيَ اتَيْتُكَ خَائِفاً فَآمِنِّي

ya mawlaya ataytuka kha'ifan fa'aminni

O my Master, I have come to you fearful, so grant me safety.

وَاتَيْتُكَ مُسْتَجِيراً فَاجِرْنِي

wa ataytuka mustajiran fa'ajirni

And I have come to you seeking refuge, so grant me shelter.

وَاتَيْتُكَ فَقِيراً فَاغْنِنِي

wa ataytuka faqiran fa'aghnini

And I have come to you poor, so enrich me.

سَيِّدِي وَمَوْلاَيَ

sayyidi wa mawlaya

My lord and my master,

انْتَ مَوْلاَيَ حُجَّةُ ٱللَّهِ عَلَىٰ ٱلْخَلْقِ اجْمَعِينَ

anta mawlaya hujjatu allahi `ala alkhalqi ajma`ina

you are my master, the proof of Allah over all the creation.

آمَنْتُ بِسِرِّكُمْ وَعَلاَنِيَتِكُمْ

amantu bisirrikum wa `alaniyatikum

I believe in your secret and your open,

وَبِظَاهِرِكُمْ وَبَاطِنِكُمْ

wa bizahirikum wa batinikum

and in your outward and your inward,

وَاوَّلِكُمْ وَآخِرِكُمْ

wa awwalikum wa akhirikum

and in your first and your last.

وَاشْهَدُ انَّكَ ٱلتَّالِي لِكِتَابِ ٱللَّهِ وَامينُ ٱللَّهِ

wa ashhadu annaka alttali likitabi allahi wa aminu allahi

And I bear witness that you are the reciter of the Book of Allah and the trustee of Allah,

ٱلدَّاعِي إِلَىٰ ٱللَّهِ بِٱلْحِكْمَةِ وَٱلْمَوْعِظَةِ ٱلْحَسَنَةِ

aldda`i ila allahi bilhikmati walmaw`izati alhasanati

the caller to Allah with wisdom and good counsel.

لَعَنَ ٱللَّهُ امَّةً ظَلَمَتْكَ

la`ana allahu ummatan zalamatka

May Allah curse the nation that oppressed you,

وَلَعَنَ ٱللَّهُ امَّةً سَمِعَتْ بِذٰلِكَ فَرَضِيَتْ بِهِ

wa la`ana allahu ummatan sami`at bidhalika faradiyat bihi

and may Allah curse the nation that heard of that and was pleased with it.

اللّهُمَّ إِنِّي لَكَ صَلَّيْتُ وَلَكَ رَكَعْتُ وَلَكَ سَجَدْتُ وَحْدَكَ لاشَرِيكَ لَكَ فَإِنَّهُ لاتَجُوزُ الصَّلاةُ وَالرُّكُوعُ وَالسُّجُودُ إِلاّ لَكَ أَنْتَ الله الَّذِي لا إِلهَ إِلاّ أَنْتَ ، اللّهُمَّ [١] صَلِّ عَلى مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَأَبْلِغْهُمْ عَنِّي أَفْضَلَ السَّلامِ وَالتَّحِيَّةِ وارْدُدْ عَلَيَّ مِنْهُمُ السَّلامَ ، اللّهُمَّ وَهاتانِ الرّكْعَتانِ هَدِيَّةٌ مِنِّي إِلى سَيِّدِي الحُسَيْنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ عليهما‌السلام ، اللّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلى مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَيْهِ وَتَقَبَّلْهُما مِنِّي وَأَجِرْنِي عَلَيْهِما أَفْضَلَ أَمَلِي وَرَجائِي فِيكَ وفِي وَلِيِّكَ يا وَلِيَّ المُؤْمِنِينَ.

O Allah, I have prayed for You, bowed for You, and prostrated for You alone, with no partner for You, for indeed prayer, bowing, and prostration are not permissible except for You. You are Allah, there is no god but You. O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, and convey to them from me the best greetings and salutation, and return their greetings to me. O Allah, these two units of prayer are a gift from me to my master al-Husayn, son of Ali, peace be upon them both. O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and upon him, and accept them from me, and reward me for them with the best of my hope and expectation in You and in Your guardian, O Guardian of the believers.

سَّلامُ عَلى الحُسَين بْنِ عَلِيٍّ المَظْلُومِ الشَّهِيدِ قَتِيلِ العَبَراتِ وَأَسِيرِ الكُرُباتِ ، اللّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَشْهَدُ أَنَّهُ وَلِيُّكَ وَابْنُ وَلِيِّكَ وَصَفِيُّكَ الثَّائِرُ بِحَقِّكَ أَكْرَمْتَهُ بِكَرامَتِكَ وَخَتَمْتَ لَهُ بِالشَّهادَةِ وَجَعَلْتَهُ سَيِّداً مِنَ السَّادَةِ وَقائِداً مِنَ القادَةِ وَأَكْرَمْتَهُ بِطِيبِ الوِلادَةِ وَأَعْطَيْتَهُ مَوارِيثَ الأَنْبِياءِ وَجَعَلْتَهُ حُجَّةً على خَلْقِكَ مِنَ الأَوْصِياء

Peace be upon al-Husayn son of Ali, the wronged, the martyr, slain while mourned, and captive of agonies. O Allah, I bear witness that he is Your guardian and the son of Your guardian, Your chosen one who rose for Your right. You honored him with Your honor, sealed his life with martyrdom, made him a master among masters and a leader among leaders, honored him with a noble birth, gave him the inheritance of the Prophets, and made him a proof over Your creation from among the successors.

فَأَعْذَرَ فِي الدُّعاءِ وَمَنَحَ النَّصِيحَةَ وَبَذَلَ مُهْجَتَهُ فِيكَ حَتّى اسْتَنْقَذَ عِبادَكَ مِنَ الجَهالَةِ وَحَيْرَةِ الضَّلالَةِ ،وَقَدْ تَوازَرَ عَلَيهِ مَنْ غَرَّتْهُ الدُّنْيا وَباعَ حَظَّهُ مِنَ الآخِرةِ بِالاَدْنى وَتَرَدّى فِي هَواهُ وَأَسْخَطَكَ وَأَسْخَطَ نَبِيِّكَ وَأَطاعَ مِنْ عِبادِكَ أُولِي الشِّقاقِ وَالنِّفاقِ وَحَمَلَةَ الاَوْزارِ المُسْتَوْجِبِينَ النَّارَ

So he exhausted all excuse in calling, offered sincere counsel, and sacrificed his life for Your sake until he rescued Your servants from ignorance and the bewilderment of misguidance. And those whom the world had deceived rallied against him, those who sold their share of the Hereafter for the lowliest price, fell into their desires, angered You and angered Your Prophet, and obeyed from among Your servants the people of discord and hypocrisy and the bearers of sins who deserved the Fire.

فَجاهَدَهُمْ فِيكَ صابِراً مُحْتَسِباً مُقْبِلاً غَيْرَ مُدْبِرٍ لاتَأْخُذُهُ فِي الله لَوْمَةُ لائِمٍ حَتّى سُفِكَ فِي طاعَتِكَ دَمُهُ وَاسْتُبِيحَ حَرِيمُهُ ؛ اللّهُمَّ العَنْهُمْ لَعْنا وَبِيلاً وَعَذِّبْهُمْ عَذاباً أَلِيماً.

So he fought them for Your sake, patient and seeking reward, advancing and never retreating, not fearing in the way of Allah the blame of any blamer, until his blood was shed in Your obedience and his sanctuary was violated. O Allah, curse them with a devastating curse and punish them with a painful punishment.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَلِيَّ ٱللَّهِ

alssalamu `alayka ya waliyya allahi

Peace be upon you, O friend of Allah.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا بْنَ رَسُولِ ٱللَّهِ

alssalamu `alayka yabna rasuli allahi

Peace be upon you, O son of the Messenger of Allah.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا بْنَ خَاتَمِ ٱلنَّبِيِّينَ

alssalamu `alayka yabna khatami alnnabiyyina

Peace be upon you, O son of the Seal of the Prophets.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا بْنَ فَاطِمَةَ

alssalamu `alayka yabna fatimata

Peace be upon you, O son of Fatimah,

سَيِّدَةِ نِسَاءِ ٱلْعَالَمِينَ

sayyidati nisa'i al`alamina

the mistress of the women of the worlds.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا بْنَ امِيرِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ

alssalamu `alayka yabna amiri almu'minina

Peace be upon you, O son of the Commander of the Faithful.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ ايُّهَا ٱلْمَظْلُومُ ٱلشَّهِيدُ

alssalamu `alayka ayyuha almazlumu alshshahidu

Peace be upon you, O wronged martyr.

بِابِي انْتَ وَامِّي

bi'abi anta wa ummi

May my father and mother be your ransom.

عِشْتَ سَعيداً

`ishta sa`idan

You lived blissfully,

وَقُتِلْتَ مَظْلُوماً شَهيداً

wa qutilta mazluman shahidan

and you were killed wrongfully as a martyr.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ ايُّهَا ٱلذَّابُّونَ عَنْ تَوْحِيدِ ٱللَّهِ

alssalamu `alaykum ayyuha aldhdhabbuna `an tawhidi allahi

Peace be upon you, O those who defended the Oneness of Allah.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ بِمَا صَبَرْتُمْ

alssalamu `alaykum bima sabartum

Peace be upon you for what you endured patiently.

فَنِعْمَ عُقْبَىٰ ٱلدَارِ

fani`ma `uqba alddari

How excellent is the final abode!

بِابي انْتُمْ وَامِّي

bi'abi antum wa ummi

May my father and mother be your ransom.

فُزْتُمْ فَوْزاً عَظيماً

fuztum fawzan `aziman

You achieved a great triumph.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ ايُّهَا ٱلْعَبْدُ ٱلصَّالِحُ وَٱلصِّدِّيقُ ٱلْمُوَاسِي

alssalamu `alayka ayyuha al`abdu alssalihu walssiddiqu almuwasi

Peace be upon you, O righteous servant and faithful supporter.

اشْهَدُ انَّكَ آمَنْتَ بِٱللَّهِ

ashhadu annaka amanta billahi

I bear witness that you believed in Allah,

وَنَصَرْتَ ٱبْنَ رَسُولِ ٱللَّهِ

wa nasarta ibna rasuli allahi

and you supported the son of the Messenger of Allah,

وَدَعَوْتَ إِلَىٰ سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ

wa da`awta ila sabili allahi

and you called to the way of Allah,

وَوَاسَيْتَ بِنَفْسِكَ

wa wasayta binafsika

and you sacrificed yourself.

فَعَلَيْكَ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ افْضَلُ ٱلتَّحِيَّةِ وَٱلسَّلاَمِ

fa`alayka min allahi afdalu alttahiyyati walssalami

So upon you from Allah be the best salutation and peace.

بِابِي انْتَ وَامِّي يَا نَاصِرَ دِينِ ٱللَّهِ

bi'abi anta wa ummi ya nasira dini allahi

May my father and mother be your ransom, O supporter of the religion of Allah.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا نَاصِرَ ٱلْحُسَيْنِ ٱلصِّدِّيقِ

alssalamu `alayka ya nasira alhusayni alssiddiqi

Peace be upon you, O supporter of al-Husayn, the truthful one.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا نَاصِرَ ٱلْحُسَيْنِ ٱلشَّهِيدِ

alssalamu `alayka ya nasira alhusayni alshshahidi

Peace be upon you, O supporter of al-Husayn, the martyr.

عَلَيْكَ مِنِّي ٱلسَّلاَمُ

`alayka minni alssalamu

Upon you be my peace,

مَا بَقِيتُ وَبَقِيَ ٱللَّيْلُ وَٱلنَّهَارُ

ma baqitu wa baqiya allaylu walnnaharu

as long as I live and as long as the night and day remain.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا مَوْلاَيَ

alssalamu `alayka ya mawlaya

Peace be upon you, O my Master,

سَلاَمَ مُوَدِّعٍ لاَ قَالٍ وَلاَ سَئِمٍ

salama muwaddi`in la qalin wa la sa'imin

the salutation of one bidding farewell, not disgusted nor weary.

فَإِنْ انْصَرِفْ فَلاَ عَنْ مَلاَلَةٍ

fa'in ansarif fala `an malalatin

If I depart, it is not out of weariness,

وَإِنْ اقِمْ فَلاَ عَنْ سُوءِ ظَنٍّ

wa in uqim fala `an su'i zannin

and if I stay, it is not out of bad expectation

بِمَا وَعَدَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلصَّابِرِينَ

bima wa`ada allahu alssabirina

of what Allah has promised the patient ones.

يَا مَوْلاَيَ لاَ جَعَلَهُ ٱللَّهُ آخِرَ ٱلْعَهْدِ مِنِّي لِزِيَارَتِكَ

ya mawlaya la ja`alahu allahu akhira al`ahdi minni liziyaratika

O my Master, may Allah not make this the last time I visit you,

وَرَزَقَنِيَ ٱلْعَوْدَ إِلَيْكَ

wa razaqani al`awda ilayka

and may He grant me the return to you,

وَٱلْمَقَامَ فِي حَرَمِكَ

walmaqama fi haramika

and the stay in your sanctuary,

وَٱلْكَوْنَ فِي مَشْهَدِكَ

walkawna fi mashhadika

and being in your presence.

آمِينَ رَبَّ ٱلْعَالَمِينَ

amina rabba al`alamina

Amen, O Lord of the Worlds.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا بَابَ ٱلْمَقَامِ

alssalamu `alayka ya baba almaqami

Peace be upon you, O gate of the Station.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا شَرِيكَ ٱلْقُرْآنِ

alssalamu `alayka ya sharika alqur'ani

Peace be upon you, O companion of the Quran.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا حُجَّةَ ٱلْخِصَامِ

alssalamu `alayka ya hujjata alkhisami

Peace be upon you, O proof of disputation.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا سَفِينَةَ ٱلنَّجَاةِ

alssalamu `alayka ya safinata alnnajati

Peace be upon you, O ark of salvation.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ يَا مَلاَئِكَةَ رَبِّي

alssalamu `alaykum ya mala'ikata rabbi

Peace be upon you, O angels of my Lord,

ٱلْمُقِيمِينَ فِي هٰذَا ٱلْحَرَمِ

almuqimina fi hadha alharami

who reside in this sanctuary.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ ابَداً

alssalamu `alayka abadan

Peace be upon you forever,

مَا بَقِيتُ وَبَقِيَ ٱللَّيْلُ وَٱلنَّهَارُ

ma baqitu wa baqiya allaylu walnnaharu

as long as I live and as long as the night and day remain.

إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ

inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji`una

Indeed we belong to Allah and to Him we shall return.

وَلاَ حَوْلَ وَلاَ قُوَّةَ إِلاَّ بِٱللَّهِ ٱلْعَلِيِّ ٱلْعَظِيمِ

wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billahi al`aliyyi al`azimi

And there is no power and no strength except with Allah, the Most High, the Most Great.

اَللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي لَكَ صَلَّيْتُ

allahumma inni laka sallaytu

O Allah, I have prayed for You,

وَلَكَ رَكَعْتُ وَلَكَ سَجَدْتُ

wa laka raka`tu wa laka sajadtu

and bowed for You and prostrated for You,

وَحْدَكَ لاَ شَرِيكَ لَكَ

wahdaka la sharika laka

You alone, with no partner for You,

فَإِنَّهُ لاَ تَجُوزُ ٱلصَّلاَةُ

fa'innahu la tajuzu alssalatu

for indeed prayer is not permissible,

وَٱلرُّكُوعُ وَٱلسُّجُودُ إِلاَّ لَكَ

walrruku`u walssujudu illa laka

and bowing and prostrating except for You,

لاِنَّكَ انْتَ ٱللَّهُ لاَ إِلٰهَ إِلاَّ انْتَ

li'annaka anta allahu alladhi la ilaha illa anta

because You are Allah, there is no god but You.

اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

allahumma salli `ala muhammadin wa ali muhammadin

O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad,

وَابْلِغْهُمْ عَنِّي افْضَلَ ٱلسَّلاَمِ وَٱلتَّحِيَّةِ

wa ablighhum `anni afdala alssalami walttahiyyati

and convey to them from me the best greetings and salutation,

وَٱرْدُدْ عَلَيَّ مِنْهُمُ ٱلسَّلاَمَ

wardud `alayya minhum alssalama

and return their greetings to me.

اَللَّهُمَّ وَهَاتَانِ ٱلرَّكْعَتَانِ هَدِيَّةٌ مِنِّي

allahumma wa hatani alrrak`atani hadiyyatun minni

O Allah, these two units of prayer are a gift from me

إِلَىٰ سَيِّدِي ٱلْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ عَلِيِّ

ila sayyidi alhusayni ibni `aliyyin

to my master al-Husayn son of Ali,

عَلَيْهِمَا ٱلسَّلاَمُ

`alayhima alssalamu

peace be upon them both.

اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَيْهِ

allahumma salli `ala muhammadin wa `alayhi

O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and upon him,

وَتَقَبَّلْهُمَا مِنِّي وَٱجْزِنِي عَليْهِمَا

wa taqabbalhuma minni wajzini `alayhima

and accept them from me, and reward me for them

افْضَلَ امَلِي وَرَجَائِي فِيكَ وَفِي وَلِيِّكَ

afdala amali wa raja'i fika wa fi waliyyika

the best of my hope and expectation in You and in Your guardian.

يَا وَلِيَّ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ

ya waliyya almu'minina

O Guardian of the believers.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَىٰ ٱلْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ

alssalamu `ala alhusayni ibni `aliyyin

Peace be upon al-Husayn son of Ali,

ٱلْمَظْلُومِ ٱلشَّهِيدِ

almazlumi alshshahidi

the wronged, the martyr,

قَتِيلِ ٱلْعَبَرَاتِ

qatili al`abarati

slain while mourned,

وَاسِيرِ ٱلْكُرُبَاتِ

wa asiri alkurubati

and captive of agonies.

اَللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي اشْهَدُ انَّهُ وَلِيُّكَ وَٱبْنُ وَلِيِّكَ

allahumma inna ashhadu annahu waliyyuka wabnu waliyyika

O Allah, I bear witness that he is Your guardian and the son of Your guardian,

وَصَفِيُّكَ ٱلثَّائِرُ بِحَقِّكَ

wa safiyyuka alththa'iru bihaqqika

and Your chosen one who rose for Your right.

اكْرَمْتَهُ بِكَرَامَتِكَ

akramtahu bikaramatika

You honored him with Your honor,

وَخَتَمْتَ لَهُ بِٱلشَّهَادَةِ

wa khatamta lahu bilshshahadati

and sealed his life with martyrdom,

وَجَعَلْتَهُ سَيِّداً مِنَ ٱلسَّادَةِ

wa ja`altahu sayyidan min alssadati

and made him a master among the masters,

وَقَائِداً مِنَ ٱلْقَادَةِ

wa qa'idan min alqadati

and a leader among the leaders,

وَاكْرَمْتَهُ بِطِيبِ ٱلْوِلاَدَةِ

wa akramtahu bitibi alwiladati

and honored him with a noble birth,

وَاعْطَيْتَهُ مَوَاريثَ ٱلانْبِيَاءِ

wa a`taytahu mawaritha al-anbiya'i

and gave him the inheritance of the Prophets,

وَجَعَلْتَهُ حُجَّةً عَلَىٰ خَلْقِكَ مِنَ ٱلاوْصِيَاءِ

wa ja`altahu hujjatan `ala khalqika min al-awsiya'i

and made him a proof over Your creation from among the successors.

فَاعْذَرَ فِي ٱلدُّعَاءِ

fa'a`dhara fi alddu`a'i

So he exhausted all excuse in calling,

وَمَنَحَ ٱلنَّصِيحَةَ

wa manaha alnnasihata

and offered sincere counsel,

وَبَذَلَ مُهْجَتَهُ فِيكَ

wa badhala muhjatahu fika

and sacrificed his life for Your sake,

حَتَّىٰ ٱسْتَنْقَذَ عِبَادَكَ مِنَ ٱلْجَهَالَةِ وَحَيْرَةِ ٱلضَّلاَلَةِ

hatta istanqadha `ibadaka min aljahalati wa hayrati alddalalati

until he rescued Your servants from ignorance and the bewilderment of misguidance.

وَقَدْ تَوَازَرَ عَلَيْهِ مَنْ غَرَّتْهُ ٱلدُّنْيَا

wa qad tawazara `alayhi man gharrat-hu alddunya

And those whom the world had deceived rallied against him,

وَبَاعَ حَظَّهُ مِنَ ٱلآخِرَةِ بِٱلادْنَىٰ

wa ba`a hazzahu min al-akhirati bil-adna

who sold their share of the Hereafter for the lowliest price,

وَتَرَدَّىٰ فِي هَوَاهُ

wa taradda fi hawahu

and fell into their desires,

وَاسْخَطَكَ وَاسْخَطَ نَبِيَّكَ

wa askhataka wa askhata nabiyyaka

and angered You and angered Your Prophet,

وَاطَاعَ مِنْ عِبَادِكَ اوْلِي ٱلشِّقَاقِ وَٱلنِّفَاقِ

wa ata`a min `ibadika uli alshshiqaqi walnnifaqi

and obeyed from among Your servants the people of discord and hypocrisy,

وَحَمَلَةَ ٱلاوْزَارِ ٱلْمُسْتَوْجِبِينَ ٱلنَّارَ

wa hamalata al-awzari almustawjibina alnnara

and the bearers of sins who deserved the Fire.

فَجَاهَدَهُمْ فِيكَ صَابِراً مُحْتَسِباً

fajahadahum fika sabiran muhtasiban

So he fought them for Your sake, patient and seeking reward,

مُقْبِلاً غَيْرَ مُدْبِرٍ

muqbilan ghayra mudbirin

advancing and never retreating,

لاَ تَاخُذُهُ فِي ٱللَّهِ لَوْمَةُ لاَئِمٍ

la ta'khudhuhu fi allahi lawmatu la'imin

not fearing in the way of Allah the blame of any blamer,

حَتَّىٰ سُفِكَ فِي طَاعَتِكَ دَمُهُ

hatta sufika fi ta`atika damuhu

until his blood was shed in Your obedience,

وَٱسْتُبيحَ حَرِيـمُهُ

wastubiha harimuhu

and his sanctuary was violated.

اَللَّهُمَّ ٱلْعَنْهُمْ لَعْناً وَبِيلاَ

allahumma il`anhum la`nan wabilan

O Allah, curse them with a devastating curse,

وَعَذِّبْهُمْ عَذَاباً الِيماً

wa `adhdhibhum `adhaban aliman

and punish them with a painful punishment.
