Ziyarat Imam Hussain (as) on 1st & 15th Rajab

اللَّهُ اكْبَرُ

allahu akbar

Allah is the Most Great.

السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا بْنَ رَسُولِ ٱللَّهِ

alssalamu `alayka yabna rasuli allahi

Peace be upon you, O son of Allah’s Messenger.

السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا بْنَ خَاتَمِ ٱلنَّبِيِّينَ

alssalamu `alayka yabna khatami alnnabiyyina

Peace be upon you, O son of the seal of the Prophets.

السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا بْنَ سَيِّدِ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ

alssalamu `alayka yabna sayyidi almursalina

Peace be upon you, O son of the chief of the Messengers.

السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا بْنَ سَيِّدِ ٱلْوَصِيِّينَ

alssalamu `alayka yabna sayyidi alwasiyyina

Peace be upon you, O son of the chief of the Prophets’ successors.

السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ ٱللَّهِ

alssalamu `alayka ya aba `abdillahi

Peace be upon you, O Abu-`Abdullah.

السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا حُسَيْنُ بْنَ عَلِيٍّ

alssalamu `alayka ya husaynu ibna `aliyyin

Peace be upon you, O al-Husayn the son of `Ali.

السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا بْنَ فَاطِمَةَ سَيِّدَةِ نِسَاءِ ٱلْعَالَمِينَ

alssalamu `alayka yabna fatimata sayyidati nisa'i al`alamina

Peace be upon you, O son of Fatimah the Doyenne of the women of the world.

السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَلِيَّ ٱللَّهِ وَٱبْنَ وَلِيِّهِ

alssalamu `alayka ya waliyya allahi wabna waliyyihi

Peace be upon you, O saint of Allah and son of His saint.

السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا صَفِيَّ ٱللَّهِ وَٱبْنَ صَفِيِّهِ

alssalamu `alayka ya safiyya allahi wabna safiyyihi

Peace be upon you, O select of Allah and son of His select.

السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا حُجَّةَ ٱللَّهِ وَٱبْنَ حُجَّتِهِ

alssalamu `alayka ya hujjata allahi wabna hujjatihi

Peace be upon you, O argument of Allah and son of His argument.

السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا حَبِيبَ ٱللَّهِ وَٱبْنَ حَبِيبِهِ

alssalamu `alayka ya habiba allahi wabna habibihi

Peace be upon you, O beloved by Allah and son of the beloved by Him.

السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا سَفِيرَ ٱللَّهِ وَٱبْنَ سَفِيرِهِ

alssalamu `alayka ya safira allahi wabna safirihi

Peace be upon you, O representative of Allah and son of His representative.

السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا خَازِنَ ٱلكِتَابِ ٱلْمَسْطُورِ

alssalamu `alayka ya khazina alkitabi almasturi

Peace be upon you, O keeper of the inscribed Scripture.

السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَارِثَ ٱلتَّوْرَاةِ وَٱلإِنْجِيلِ وَٱلزَّبُورِ

alssalamu `alayka ya waritha alttawrati wal-injili walzzaburi

Peace be upon you, O inheritor of the Torah, the Gospel, and the Psalms.

السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا أَمِينَ ٱلرَّحْمٰنِ

alssalamu `alayka ya amina alrrahmani

Peace be upon you, O trustee of the All-beneficent God.

السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا شَرِيكَ ٱلقُرْآنِ

alssalamu `alayka ya sharika alqur'ani

Peace be upon you, O partner of the Qur'an.

السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا عَمُودَ ٱلدِّينِ

alssalamu `alayka ya `amuda alddini

Peace be upon you, O support of the religion.

السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا بَابَ حِكْمَةِ رَبِّ ٱلْعَالَمِينَ

alssalamu `alayka ya baba hikmati rabbi al`alamina

Peace be upon you, O door to the wisdom of the Lord of the worlds.

السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا بَابَ حِطَّةٍ ٱلَّذِي مَنْ دَخَلَهُ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلآمِنِينَ

alssalamu `alayka ya baba hittatin alladhi man dakhalahu kana min al-aminina

Peace be upon you, O door of Forgiveness; he who enters from this door will be of the secured ones.

السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا عَيْبَةَ عِلْمِ ٱللَّهِ

alssalamu `alayka ya `aybata `ilmi allahi

Peace be upon you, O case of Allah’s knowledge.

السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا مَوْضِعَ سِرِّ ٱللَّهِ

alssalamu `alayka ya mawdi`a sirri allahi

Peace be upon you, O place of Allah’s secret.

السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا ثَارَ ٱللَّهِ وَٱبْنَ ثَارِهِ وَٱلْوِتْرَ ٱلْمَوْتُورَ

alssalamu `alayka ya thara allahi wabna tharihi walwitra almawtura

Peace be upon you, O (the object of) Allah’s vengeance and the violated sanctity.

السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ وَعَلَىٰ ٱلأَرْوَاحِ ٱلَّتِي حَلَّتْ بِفِنَائِكَ وَأَنَاخَتْ بِرَحْلِكَ

alssalamu `alayka wa `ala al-arwahi allati hallat bifina'ika wa anakhat birahlika

Peace be upon you and upon the souls that resided in your yard and settled down near your caravan.

بِأَبِي أَنْتَ وَأُمِّي وَنَفْسِي يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ ٱللَّهِ

bi'abi anta wa ummi wa nafsi ya aba `abdillahi

May Allah accept my father, my mother, and myself as ransoms for you, O Abu-`Abdullah.

لَقَدْ عَظُمَتِ ٱلْمُصِيبَةُ وَجَلَّتِ ٱلرَّزِيَّةُ بِكَ عَلَيْنَا وَعَلَىٰ جَمِيعِ أَهْلِ ٱلإِسْلاَمِ

laqad `azumat almusibatu wa jallat alrraziyyatu bika `alayna wa `ala jami`i ahli al-islami

O Abu-`Abdullah, unbearable is the sorrow and never-racking is the agony you put up with, for us and for all (true) Muslims.

فَلَعَنَ ٱللَّهُ أُمَّةً أَسَّسَتْ أَسَاسَ ٱلظُّلْمِ وَٱلْجَوْرِ عَلَيْكُمْ أَهْلَ البَيْتِ

fala`ana allahu ummatan assasat asasa alzzulmi waljawri `alaykum ahla albayti

Curse of Allah be on the people who laid the basis of wronging and injustice against you the Household of the Prophet.

وَلَعَنَ ٱللَّهُ أُمَّةً دَفَعَتْكُمْ عَنْ مَقَامِكُمْ

wa la`ana allahu ummatan dafa`atkum `an maqamikum

Curse of Allah be upon the people who removed you from your position

وَأَزَالَتْكُمْ عَنْ مَرَاتِبِكُمُ ٱلَّتِي رَتَّبَكُمُ ٱللَّهُ فِيهَا

wa azalatkum `an maratibikum allati rattabakum allahu fiha

and took you away from your actual ranks that Allah has chosen for you.

بِأَبِي أَنْتَ وَأُمِّي وَنَفْسِي يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ ٱللَّهِ

bi'abi anta wa ummi wa nafsi ya aba `abdillahi

May Allah accept my father, my mother, and me as ransoms for you, O Abu-`Abdullah.

أَشْهَدُ لَقَدِ ٱقْشَعَرَّتْ لِدِمَائِكُمْ أَظِلَّةُ ٱلعَرْشِ مَعَ أَظِلَّةِ ٱلْخَلائِقِ

ashhadu laqad iqsha`arrat lidima'ikum azillatu al`arshi ma`a azillati alkhala'iqi

I bear witness that the shades of the Divine Throne shared the shades of the creatures in shuddering for the shedding of your blood.

وَبَكَتْكُمُ ٱلسَّمَاءُ وَٱلأَرْضُ وَسُكَّانُ ٱلْجِنَانِ وَٱلْبَرِّ وَٱلْبَحْرِ

wa bakatkum alssama'u wal-ardu wa sukkanu aljinani walbarri walbahri

The heavens, the earth, and the inhabitants of the gardens of Paradise, the lands, and the oceans—all those wept for you.

صَلَّىٰ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْكَ عَدَدَ مَا فِي عِلْمِ ٱللَّهِ

salla allahu `alayka `adada ma fi `ilmi allahi

May Allah shower upon you blessings as many as the number of what is there in the knowledge of Allah.

لَبَّيْكَ دَاعِيَ ٱللَّهِ

labbayka da`iya allahi

Here I am at your service, O caller to Allah.

إِنْ كَانَ لَمْ يُجِبْكَ بَدَنِي عِنْدَ ٱسْتِغَاثَتِكَ وَلِسَانِي عِنْدَ ٱسْتِنْصَارِكَ

in kana lam yujibka badani `inda istighathatika wa lisani `inda istinsarika

If my body could not respond to your call when you called for aid and my tongue could not respond to your call for help,

فَقَدْ أَجَابَكَ قَلْبِي وَسَمْعِي وَبَصَرِي

faqad ajabaka qalbi wa sam`i wa basari

then my heart, my hearing, and my sight have verily responded to you.

سُبْحَانَ رَبِّنَا إِنْ كَانَ وَعْدُ رَبِّنَا لَمَفْعُولاً

subhana rabbina in kana wa`du rabbina lamaf`ulan

Glory be to our Lord! Most surely, the promise of our Lord was to be fulfilled.

أَشْهَدُ أَنَّكَ طُهْرٌ طَاهِرٌ مُطَهَّرٌ مِنْ طُهْرٍ طَاهِرٍ مُطَهَّرٍ

ashhadu annaka tuhrun tahirun mutahharun min tuhrin tahirin mutahharin

I bear witness that you are pure, immaculate, and purified and you are the offspring of the pure, immaculate, and purified ones.

طَهُرْتَ وَطَهُرَتْ بِكَ ٱلْبِلاَدُ

tahurta wa tahurat bika albiladu

You are indeed pure and you are the reason for the purity of the lands.

وَطَهُرَتْ أَرْضٌ أَنْتَ بِهَا وَطَهُرَ حَرَمُكَ

wa tahurat ardun anta biha wa tahura haramuka

Pure is the land where you are and pure is your holy shrine.

أَشْهَدُ أَنَّكَ قَدْ أَمَرْتَ بِٱلْقِسْطِ وَٱلْعَدْلِ وَدَعَوْتَ إِلَيْهِمَا

ashhadu annaka qad amarta bilqisti wal`adli wa da`awta ilayhima

I bear witness that you enjoined justice and fairness and you called to them.

وَأَنَّكَ صَادِقٌ صِدِّيقٌ صَدَقْتَ فِيمَا دَعَوْتَ إِلَيْهِ

wa annaka sadiqun siddiqun sadaqta fima da`awta ilayhi

And you are verily honest and veracious, and you were truthful in that for which you called.

وَأَنَّكَ ثَارُ ٱللَّهِ فِي ٱلأَرْضِ

wa annaka tharu allahi fi al-ardi

And you are verily (the object of) Allah’s vengeance on the earth.

وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّكَ قَدْ بَلَّغْتَ عَنِ ٱللَّهِ

wa ashhadu annaka qad ballaghta `an allahi

And I bear witness that you did convey on behalf of Allah,

وَعَنْ جَدِّكَ رَسُولِ ٱللَّهِ

wa `an jaddika rasuli allahi

on behalf of your grandfather the Messenger of Allah,

وَعَنْ أَبِيكَ أَمِيرِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ

wa `an abika amiri almu'minina

on behalf of your father the Commander of the Faithful,

وَعَنْ أَخِيكَ ٱلْحَسَنِ

wa `an akhika alhasani

and on behalf of your brother al-Hasan.

وَنَصَحْتَ وَجَاهَدْتَ فِي سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ

wa nasahta wa jahadta fi sabili allahi

And you advised and strove in the way of Allah

وَعَبَدْتَهُ مُخْلِصاً حَتَّىٰ أَتَاكَ ٱلْيَقِينُ

wa `abadtahu mukhlisan hatta ataka alyaqinu

and you served Him sincerely until death came upon you.

فَجَزَاكَ ٱللَّهُ خَيْرَ جَزَاءِ ٱلسَّابِقِينَ

fajazaka allahu khayra jaza'i alssabiqina

So, may Allah award you with the best of the rewarding of the foremost (to deeds of goodness).

وَصَلَّىٰ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْكَ وَسَلَّمَ تَسْلِيماً

wa salla allahu `alayka wa sallama tasliman

And may Allah bless and exalt you thoroughly.

اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَصَلِّ عَلَىٰ ٱلْحُسَيْنِ ٱلْمَظْلُومِ

allahumma salli `ala muhammadin wa ali muhammadin wa salli `ala alhusayni almazlumi

O Allah, (please) send blessings upon Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad, and send blessings upon al-Husayn the wronged,

ٱلشَّهِيدِ ٱلرَّشِيدِ

alshshahidi alrrashidi

the martyr, the orthodox,

قَتِيلِ ٱلْعَبَرَاتِ

qatili al`abarati

the slain one whom is wept heavily,

وَأَسِيرِ ٱلْكُرُبَاتِ

wa asiri alkurubati

and the object of agonies

صَلاةً نَامِيَةً زَاكِيَةً مُبَارَكَةً

salatan namiyatan zakiyatan mubarakatan

with such blessings that are increasing, growing, and sacred;

يَصْعَدُ أَوَّلُهَا وَلاَ يَنْفَدُ آخِرُهَا

yas`adu awwaluha wa la yanfadu akhiruha

the first of which ascends and the last of which is infinite,

أَفْضَلَ مَا صَلَّيْتَ عَلَىٰ أَحَدٍ مِنْ أَوْلادِ أَنْبِيَائِكَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ

afdala ma sallayta `ala ahadin min awladi anbiya'ika almursalina

and with the best blessings that You ever sent on any of Your missioned Prophets’ sons.

يَا إِلٰهَ ٱلْعَالَمِينَ

ya ilaha al`alamina

O God of the worlds!

السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ أَيُّهَا ٱلصِّدِّيقُ ٱلطَّيِّبُ

alssalamu `alayka ayyuha alssiddiqu alttayyibu

Peace be upon you, O veracious, pure,

ٱلزَّكِيُّ ٱلْحَبِيبُ ٱلْمُقَرَّبُ

alzzakiyyu alhabibu almuqarrabu

immaculate, dear, favorite,

وَٱبْنَ رَيْحَانَةِ رَسُولِ ٱللَّهِ

wabna rayhanati rasuli allahi

and son of the basil of Allah’s Messenger.

السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ مِنْ شَهِيدٍ مُحْتَسِبٍ

alssalamu `alayka min shahidin muhtasibin

Peace be upon you as you are steadfast martyr.

وَرَحْمَةُ ٱللَّهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ

wa rahmatu allahi wa barakatuhu

Allah’s mercy and blessings be upon you.

مَا أَكْرَمَ مَقَامَكَ وَأَشْرَفَ مُنْقَلَبَكَ

ma akrama maqamaka wa ashrafa munqalabaka

How noble your position is and how honorable your seat is.

أَشْهَدُ لَقَدْ شَكَرَ ٱللَّهُ سَعْيَكَ

ashhadu laqad shakara allahu sa`yaka

I bear witness that Allah thanked you for your efforts,

وَأَجْزَلَ ثَوَابَكَ

wa ajzala thawabaka

magnified your rewards,

وَأَلْحَقَكَ بِٱلذَّرْوَةِ ٱلْعَالِيَةِ

wa alhaqaka bildhdharwati al`aliyati

and joined you to the exalted summit

حَيْثُ ٱلشَّرَفُ كُلُّ ٱلشَّرَفِ

haythu alshsharafu kullu alshsharafi

where there is the entire honor

وَفِي ٱلْغُرَفِ ٱلسَّامِيَةِ

wa fi alghurafi alssamiyati

in the elevated chambers.

كَمَا مَنَّ عَلَيْكَ مِنْ قَبْلُ وَجَعَلَكَ مِنْ أَهْلِ ٱلبَيْتِ

kama manna `alayka min qablu wa ja`alaka min ahli albayti

Similarly, He had bestowed upon you and made you one of the members of the Household of the Prophet

ٱلَّذِينَ أَذْهَبَ ٱللَّهُ عَنْهُمُ ٱلرِّجْسَ وَطَهَّرَهُمْ تَطْهِيراً

alladhina adhhaba allahu `anhum alrrijsa wa tahharahum tathiran

from whom Allah removed filth and whom He purified with thorough purification.

صَلَوَاتُ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيْكَ وَرَحْمَةُ ٱللَّهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ وَرِضْوَانُهُ

salawatu allahi `alayka wa rahmatu allahi wa barakatuhu wa ridwanuhu

Allah’s blessings, mercy, benedictions, and pleasure be upon you.

فَٱشْفَعْ أَيُّهَا ٱلسَّيِّدُ ٱلطَّاهِرُ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ

fashfa` ayyuha alssayyidu alttahiru ila rabbika

So, O pure master, (please) intercede for me with your Lord

فِي حَطِّ ٱلأَثْقَالِ عَنْ ظَهْرِي وَتَخْفِيفِهَا عَنِّي

fi hatti al-athqali `an zahri wa takhfifiha `anni

so that He may unburden and relieve me from the loads (of sins) that I carry on my back.

وَٱرْحَمْ ذُلِّي وَخُضُوعِي لَكَ وَلِلسَّيِّدِ أَبِيكَ صَلَّىٰ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْكُمَا

warham dhulli wa khudu`i laka wa lilssayyidi abika salla allahu `alaykuma

And (please) have mercy upon my humbleness and submission to you and to the master, your father. May Allah bless you both.

زَادَ ٱللَّهُ فِي شَرَفِكُمْ فِي ٱلآخِرَةِ

zada allahu fi sharafikum fi al-akhirati

May Allah increase your honor in the Hereafter

كَمَا شَرَّفَكُمْ فِي ٱلدُّنْيَا

kama sharrafakum fi alddunya

in the same way as He honored you in this world

وَأَسْعَدَكُمْ كَمَا أَسْعَدَ بِكُمْ

wa as`adakum kama as`ada bikum

and may He bless you in the same way as He blessed others on account of you.

وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّكُمْ أَعْلاَمُ ٱلدِّينِ

wa ashhadu annakum a`lamu alddini

And I bear witness that you are the signposts of the religion

وَنُجُومُ ٱلْعَالَمِينَ

wa nujumu al`alamina

and the stars of the worlds.

وَٱلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ ٱللَّهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ

wa alssalamu `alaykum wa rahmatu allahi wa barakatuhu

Peace and Allah’s mercy and blessings be upon you.

السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ يَا أَنْصَارَ ٱللَّهِ

alssalamu `alaykum ya ansara allahi

Peace be upon you all, O supporters of Allah

وَأَنْصَارَ رَسُولِهِ

wa ansara rasulihi

supporters of His Messenger,

وَأَنْصَارَ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ

wa ansara `aliyyi ibni abi talibin

supporters of `Ali the son of Abu-Talib

وَأَنْصَارَ فَاطِمَةَ

wa ansara fatimata

supporters of Fatimah,

وَأَنْصَارَ ٱلْحَسَنِ وَٱلْحُسَيْنِ

wa ansara alhasani walhusayni

supporters of al-Hasan and al-Husayn,

وَأَنْصَارَ ٱلإِسْلاَمِ

wa ansara al-islami

and supporters of Islam.

أَشْهَدُ أَنَّكُمْ لَقَدْ نَصَحْتُمْ لِلَّهِ

ashhadu annakum laqad nasahtum lillahi

I bear witness that you indeed did sincerely for the sake of Allah

وَجَاهَدْتُمْ فِي سَبِيلِهِ

wa jahadtum fi sabilihi

and strove sincerely in His way.

فَجَزَاكُمُ ٱللَّهُ عَنِ ٱلإِسْلاَمِ وَأَهْلِهِ أَفْضَلَ ٱلْجَزَاءِ

fajazakum allahu `an al-islami wa ahlihi afdala aljaza'i

So, may Allah reward you on behalf of Islam and its people with the best of rewarding.

فُزْتُمْ وَٱللَّهِ فَوْزاً عَظِيماً

fuztum wallahi fawzan `aziman

By Allah I swear, you did win a great success.

يَا لَيْتَنِي كُنْتُ مَعَكُمْ فَأَفُوزَ فَوْزاً عَظِيماً

ya laytani kuntu ma`akum fa'afuza fawzan `aziman

I whish I were with you so that I would win a great success.

أَشْهَدُ أَنَّكُمْ أَحْيَاءٌ عِنْدَ رَبِّكُمْ تُرْزَقُونَ

ashhadu annakum ahya'un `inda rabbikum turzaquna

I bear witness that you are alive with your Lord, receiving sustenance.

أَشْهَدُ أَنَّكُمُ ٱلشُّهَدَاءُ وَٱلسُّعَدَاءُ

ashhadu annakumu alshshuhada'u walssu`ada'u

I bear witness that you are the true martyrs and the true happy ones

وَأَنَّكُمُ ٱلْفَائِزُونَ فِي دَرَجَاتِ ٱلْعُلَىٰ

wa annakumu alfa'izuna fi darajati al`ula

and you are the winners in the most elevated ranks.

وَٱلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ ٱللَّهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ

wa alssalamu `alaykum wa rahmatu allahi wa barakatuhu

Peace and Allah’s mercy and blessings be upon you.
