Sahifa Sajjadiya 14: When Hostility Was Shown

وَيَا مَنْ لَا يَحْتَاجُ فِي قِصَصِهِمْ

Wa yā man lā yaḥtāju fī qiṣaṣihim

And O He who does not need in their accounts.

إِلَى شَهَادَاتِ الشَّاهِدِينَ

Ilā shahādāti ash-shāhidīna

To the testimonies of witnesses.

وَيَا مَنْ قَرُبَتْ نُصْرَتُهُ مِنَ الْمَظْلُومِينَ

Wa yā man qarubat nuṣratuhu mina al-maẓlūmīna

And O He whose help is near to the oppressed.

وَيَا مَنْ بَعُدَ عَوْنُهُ عَنِ الظَّالِمِينَ

Wa yā man ba‘uda ‘awnuhu ‘ani aẓ-ẓālimīna

And O He whose aid is far from the oppressors.

قَدْ عَلِمْتَ يَا إِلَهِي مَا نَالَنِي

Qad ‘alimta yā ilāhī mā nālanī

You know, O my God, what has befallen me.

مِنْ فُلَانٍ بْنِ فُلَانٍ مِمَّا حَظَرْتَ

Min fulānin bni fulānin mimmā ḥaẓarta

From such-and-such of what You forbade.

وَانْتَهَكَهُ مِنِّي مِمَّا حَجَزْتَ عَلَيْهِ

Wa intahakahu minnī mimmā ḥajazta ‘alayhi

And he violated against me what You prohibited.

بَطَرًا فِي نِعْمَتِكَ عِنْدَهُ

Baṭaran fī ni‘matika ‘indahu

Arrogantly in Your blessings upon him.

وَاغْتِرَارًا بِنَكِيرِكَ عَلَيْهِ

Wa ightirāran binakīrika ‘alayhi

And deceived by Your disapproval of him.

أَللَّهُمَّ فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِهِ

Allāhumma faṣalli ‘alā Muḥammadin wa ālihi

O Allah, send blessings on Muhammad and his family.

وَخُذْ ظَالِمِي وَعَدُوِّي عَنْ ظُلْمِي

Wa khudh ẓālimī wa ‘aduwwī ‘an ẓulmī

And seize my oppressor and enemy from my oppression.

بِقُوَّتِكَ وَافْلُلْ حَدَّهُ عَنِّي

Biquwwatika wa aflul ḥaddahu ‘annī

With Your strength, and blunt his edge against me.

بِقُدْرَتِكَ وَاجْعَلْ لَهُ شُغْلًا

Biqudratika wa ij‘al lahu shughlan

With Your power, and make him preoccupied.

فِيمَا يَلِيهِ وَعَجْزًا عَمَّا يُنَاوِيهِ

Fīmā yalīhi wa ‘ajzan ‘ammā yunāwīhi

With what concerns him and incapable of opposing.

أَللَّهُمَّ وَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِهِ

Allāhumma wa ṣalli ‘alā Muḥammadin wa ālihi

O Allah, send blessings on Muhammad and his family.

وَلَا تُسَوِّغْ لَهُ ظُلْمِي

Wa lā tusawwigh lahu ẓulmī

And do not permit him my oppression.

وَأَحْسِنْ عَلَيْهِ عَوْنِي

Wa aḥsin ‘alayhi ‘awnī

And improve my aid against him.

وَاعْصِمْنِي مِنْ مِثْلِ أَفْعَالِهِ

Wa a‘ṣimnī min mithli af‘ālihi

And protect me from deeds like his.

وَلَا تَجْعَلْنِي فِي مِثْلِ حَالِهِ

Wa lā taj‘alnī fī mithli ḥālihi

And do not place me in his state.

أَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِهِ

Allāhumma ṣalli ‘alā Muḥammadin wa ālihi

O Allah, send blessings on Muhammad and his family.

وَأَعِدْنِي عَلَيْهِ عَدْوَى حَاضِرَةً

Wa a‘idnī ‘alayhi ‘adwan ḥāḍiratan

And grant me against him a present retribution.

تَكُونُ مِنْ غَيْظِي بِهِ شِفَاءً

Takūnu min ghayẓī bihi shifā’an

That serves as healing from my anger toward him.

وَمِنْ حَنَقِي عَلَيْهِ وَفَاءً

Wa min ḥanaqī ‘alayhi wafā’an

And fulfillment of my resentment against him.

أَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِهِ

Allāhumma ṣalli ‘alā Muḥammadin wa ālihi

O Allah, send blessings on Muhammad and his family.

وَعَوِّضْنِي مِنْ ظُلْمِهِ لِي عَفْوَكَ

Wa ‘awwiḍnī min ẓulmihi lī ‘afwaka

And compensate me for his oppression with Your pardon.

وَأَبْدِلْنِي بِسُوءِ صَنِيعِهِ بِي

Wa abdilnī bisū’i ṣanī‘ihi bī

And replace his evil deed toward me.

رَحْمَتَكَ فَكُلُّ مَكْرُوهٍ جَلَلٌ

Raḥmataka fakullu makrūhin jalalun

With Your mercy, for every harm is great.

دُونَ سَخَطِكَ وَكُلُّ مُرْزِئَةٍ

Dūna sakhaṭika wa kullu murzi’atin

Compared to Your displeasure, and every affliction.

سَوَاءٌ مَعَ مَوْجِدَتِكَ

Sawā’un ma‘a mawjidatika

Is equal with Your wrath.

أَللَّهُمَّ فَكَمَا كَرَّهْتَ إِلَيَّ أَنْ أَظْلِمَ

Allāhumma fakamā karrahta ilayya an aẓlima

O Allah, as You made oppression detestable to me.

فَقِنِي مِنْ أَنْ أُظْلَمَ

Faqinī min an uẓlama

Protect me from being oppressed.

أَللَّهُمَّ لَا أَشْكُو إِلَى أَحَدٍ سِوَاكَ

Allāhumma lā ashkū ilā aḥadin siwāka

O Allah, I complain to none but You.

وَلَا أَسْتَعِينُ بِحَاكِمٍ غَيْرِكَ حَاشَاكَ

Wa lā asta‘īnu biḥākimin ghayrika ḥāshāka

Nor seek help from a judge besides You, far be it.

فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِهِ

Faṣalli ‘alā Muḥammadin wa ālihi

So bless Muhammad and his family.

وَصِلْ دُعَائِي بِالْإِجَابَةِ

Wa ṣil du‘ā’ī bi-al-ijābati

And connect my supplication with acceptance.

وَأَقْرِنْ شِكَايَتِي بِالتَّغْيِيرِ

Wa aqrinn shikāyatī bi-at-taghīri

And pair my complaint with change.

أَللَّهُمَّ لَا تَفْتِنِّي بِالْقُنُوطِ

Allāhumma lā taftinnī bi-al-qunūṭi

O Allah, do not test me with despair.

مِنْ إِنْصَافِكَ وَلَا تَفْتِنْهُ

Min inṣāfika wa lā taftinhu

Of Your justice, nor test him.

بِالْأَمْنِ مِنْ إِنْكَارِكَ

Bi-al-amni min inkārika

With security from Your disapproval.

فَيُصِرَّ عَلَى ظُلْمِي

Fayuṣirra ‘alā ẓulmī

Lest he persists in my oppression.

وَيُحَاضِرَنِي بِحَقِّي

Wa yuḥāḍiranī biḥaqqī

And denies me my right.

وَعَرِّفْهُ عَمَّا قَلِيلٍ مَا

Wa ‘arrifhu ‘ammā qalīlin mā

And make him know soon what.

أَوْعَدْتَ الظَّالِمِينَ

Aw‘adta aẓ-ẓālimīna

You promised the oppressors.

وَعَرِّفْنِي مَا وَعَدْتَ مِنْ

Wa ‘arrifnī mā wa‘adta min

And make me know what You promised.

إِجَابَةِ الْمُضْطَرِّينَ

Ijābati al-muḍṭarrīna

For answering the distressed.

أَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِهِ

Allāhumma ṣalli ‘alā Muḥammadin wa ālihi

O Allah, send blessings on Muhammad and his family.

وَوَفِّقْنِي لِقَبُولِ مَا قَضَيْتَ

Wa waffiqnī liqabūli mā qaḍayta

And enable me to accept what You decreed.

لِي وَعَلَيَّ وَرَضِّنِي

Lī wa ‘alayya wa raḍḍinī

For and against me, and make me content.

بِمَا أَخَذْتَ لِي وَمِنِّي

Bimā akhadhta lī wa minnī

With what You took for and from me.

وَاهْدِنِي لِلَّتِي هِيَ أَقْوَمُ

Wa ihdinī lil-latī hiya aqwamu

And guide me to that which is most upright.

وَاسْتَعْمِلْنِي بِمَا هُوَ أَسْلَمُ

Wa ista‘milnī bimā huwa aslamu

And employ me in what is safest.

أَللَّهُمَّ وَإِنْ كَانَتِ الْخِيَرَةُ لِي

Allāhumma wa in kānati al-khiyaratu lī

O Allah, if the best choice for me.

عِنْدَكَ فِي تَأْخِيرِ الْأَخْذِ

‘Indaka fī ta’khīri al-akhdi

Lies with You in delaying my retribution.

لِي وَتَرْكِ الِانْتِقَامِ مِمَّنْ

Lī wa tarki al-intiqāmi mimman

And withholding vengeance from my oppressor.

ظَلَمَنِي إِلَى يَوْمِ الْفَصْلِ

Ẓalamanī ilā yawmi al-faṣli

Until the day of decision.

وَمَجْمَعِ الْخَصْمِ

Wa majma‘i al-khaṣmi

And gathering of adversaries.

فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِهِ

Faṣalli ‘alā Muḥammadin wa ālihi

So bless Muhammad and his family.

وَأَيِّدْنِي مِنْكَ بِنِيَّةٍ صَادِقَةٍ

Wa ayyidnī minka biniyyatin ṣādiqatin

And support me from You with a sincere intention.

وَصَبْرٍ دَائِمٍ

Wa ṣabrin dā’imin

And enduring patience.

وَأَعِذْنِي مِنْ سُوءِ الرَّغْبَةِ

Wa a‘idhnī min sū’i ar-raghbati

And protect me from evil desires.

وَهَلَعِ أَهْلِ الْحِرْصِ

Wa hala‘i ahli al-ḥirṣi

And the panic of the greedy.

وَصَوِّرْ فِي قَلْبِي مِثَالَ

Wa ṣawwir fī qalbī mithāla

And depict in my heart the image.

مَا ادَّخَرْتَ لِي مِنْ ثَوَابِكَ

Mā iddakharta lī min thawābika

Of what You reserved for me of Your reward.

وَأَعْدَدْتَ لِخَصْمِي مِنْ جَزَائِكَ

Wa a‘dadta likhaṣmī min jazā’ika

And prepared for my adversary of Your recompense.

وَعِقَابِكَ وَاجْعَلْ ذَلِكَ

Wa ‘iqābika wa ij‘al dhālika

And punishment, and make that.

سَبَبًا لِقَنَاعَتِي بِمَا قَضَيْتَ

Sababan liqanā‘atī bimā qaḍayta

A cause for my contentment with what You decreed.

وَثِقَتِي بِمَا تَخَيَّرْتَ

Wa thiqatī bimā takhayyarta

And my trust in Your choice.

آمِينَ رَبَّ الْعَالَمِينَ

Āmīna rabba al-‘ālamīna

Amen, Lord of the worlds.

إِنَّكَ ذُو الْفَضْلِ الْعَظِيمِ

Innaka dhū al-faḍli al-‘aẓīmi

For You are the Possessor of great favor.

وَأَنْتَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

Wa anta ‘alā kulli shay’in qadīrun

And You are capable of all things.

يَا مَنْ لَا يَخْفَى عَلَيْهِ

Yā man lā yakhfā ‘alayhi

O He whom the complaints.

أَنْبَاءُ الْمُتَظَلِّمِينَ

Anbā’u al-mutaẓallimīna

Of the oppressed are not hidden from.

وَيَا مَنْ لَا يَحْتَاجُ فِي

Wa yā man lā yaḥtāju fī

And O He who does not need.

قِصَصِهِمْ إِلَى شَهَادَاتِ الشَّاهِدِينَ

Qiṣaṣihim ilā shahādāti ash-shāhidīna

Their accounts to the testimonies of witnesses.

وَيَا مَنْ قَرُبَتْ نُصْرَتُهُ

Wa yā man qarubat nuṣratuhu

And O He whose help is near.

مِنَ الْمَظْلُومِينَ

Mina al-maẓlūmīna

To the oppressed.

وَيَا مَنْ بَعُدَ عَوْنُهُ

Wa yā man ba‘uda ‘awnuhu

And O He whose aid is far.

عَنِ الظَّالِمِينَ قَدْ عَلِمْتَ

‘Ani aẓ-ẓālimīna qad ‘alimta

From the oppressors, You know.

يَا إِلَهِي مَا نَالَنِي

Yā ilāhī mā nālanī

O my God, what has befallen me.

مِنْ فُلَانٍ بْنِ فُلَانٍ

Min fulānin bni fulānin

From such-and-such.

مِمَّا حَظَرْتَ وَانْتَهَكَهُ

Mimmā ḥaẓarta wa intahakahu

From what You forbade and he violated.

مِنِّي مِمَّا حَجَزْتَ عَلَيْهِ

Minnī mimmā ḥajazta ‘alayhi

Against me, which You prohibited.

بَطَرًا فِي نِعْمَتِكَ عِنْدَهُ

Baṭaran fī ni‘matika ‘indahu

Arrogantly in Your blessings upon him.

وَاغْتِرَارًا بِنَكِيرِكَ عَلَيْهِ

Wa ightirāran binakīrika ‘alayhi

And deceived by Your disapproval of him.

أَللَّهُمَّ فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ

Allāhumma faṣalli ‘alā Muḥammadin

O Allah, send blessings on Muhammad.

وَآلِهِ وَخُذْ ظَالِمِي وَعَدُوِّي

Wa ālihi wa khudh ẓālimī wa ‘aduwwī

And his family, and seize my oppressor and enemy.

عَنْ ظُلْمِي بِقُوَّتِكَ

‘An ẓulmī biquwwatika

From my oppression with Your strength.

وَافْلُلْ حَدَّهُ عَنِّي بِقُدْرَتِكَ

Wa aflul ḥaddahu ‘annī biqudratika

And blunt his edge against me with Your power.

وَاجْعَلْ لَهُ شُغْلًا فِيمَا

Wa ij‘al lahu shughlan fīmā

And make him preoccupied with what.

يَلِيهِ وَعَجْزًا عَمَّا يُنَاوِيهِ

Yalīhi wa ‘ajzan ‘ammā yunāwīhi

Concerns him and incapable of opposing.

أَللَّهُمَّ وَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ

Allāhumma wa ṣalli ‘alā Muḥammadin

O Allah, send blessings on Muhammad.

وَآلِهِ وَلَا تُسَوِّغْ لَهُ

Wa ālihi wa lā tusawwigh lahu

And his family, and do not permit him.

ظُلْمِي وَأَحْسِنْ عَلَيْهِ عَوْنِي

Ẓulmī wa aḥsin ‘alayhi ‘awnī

My oppression, and improve my aid against him.

وَاعْصِمْنِي مِنْ مِثْلِ أَفْعَالِهِ

Wa a‘ṣimnī min mithli af‘ālihi

And protect me from deeds like his.

وَلَا تَجْعَلْنِي فِي مِثْلِ حَالِهِ

Wa lā taj‘alnī fī mithli ḥālihi

And do not place me in his state.

أَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ

Allāhumma ṣalli ‘alā Muḥammadin

O Allah, send blessings on Muhammad.

وَآلِهِ وَأَعِدْنِي عَلَيْهِ

Wa ālihi wa a‘idnī ‘alayhi

And his family, and grant me against him.

عَدْوَى حَاضِرَةً تَكُونُ

‘Adwan ḥāḍiratan takūnu

A present retribution that serves.

مِنْ غَيْظِي بِهِ شِفَاءً

Min ghayẓī bihi shifā’an

As healing from my anger toward him.

وَمِنْ حَنَقِي عَلَيْهِ وَفَاءً

Wa min ḥanaqī ‘alayhi wafā’an

And fulfillment of my resentment against him.

أَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ

Allāhumma ṣalli ‘alā Muḥammadin

O Allah, send blessings on Muhammad.

وَآلِهِ وَعَوِّضْنِي مِنْ ظُلْمِهِ

Wa ālihi wa ‘awwiḍnī min ẓulmihi

And his family, and compensate me for his oppression.

لِي عَفْوَكَ وَأَبْدِلْنِي

Lī ‘afwaka wa abdilnī

With Your pardon, and replace.

بِسُوءِ صَنِيعِهِ بِي رَحْمَتَكَ

Bisū’i ṣanī‘ihi bī raḥmataka

His evil deed toward me with Your mercy.

فَكُلُّ مَكْرُوهٍ جَلَلٌ

Fakullu makrūhin jalalun

For every harm is great.

دُونَ سَخَطِكَ وَكُلُّ مُرْزِئَةٍ

Dūna sakhaṭika wa kullu murzi’atin

Compared to Your displeasure, and every affliction.

سَوَاءٌ مَعَ مَوْجِدَتِكَ

Sawā’un ma‘a mawjidatika

Is equal with Your wrath.

أَللَّهُمَّ فَكَمَا كَرَّهْتَ إِلَيَّ

Allāhumma fakamā karrahta ilayya

O Allah, as You made oppression.

أَنْ أَظْلِمَ فَقِنِي مِنْ

An aẓlima faqinī min

Detestable to me, protect me from.

أَنْ أُظْلَمَ أَللَّهُمَّ لَا

An uẓlama allāhumma lā

Being oppressed. O Allah, I do not.

أَشْكُو إِلَى أَحَدٍ سِوَاكَ

Ashkū ilā aḥadin siwāka

Complain to anyone but You.

وَلَا أَسْتَعِينُ بِحَاكِمٍ غَيْرِكَ

Wa lā asta‘īnu biḥākimin ghayrika

Nor seek help from a judge besides You.

حَاشَاكَ فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ

Ḥāshāka faṣalli ‘alā Muḥammadin

Far be it from You, so bless Muhammad.

وَآلِهِ وَصِلْ دُعَائِي

Wa ālihi wa ṣil du‘ā’ī

And his family, and connect my supplication.

بِالْإِجَابَةِ وَأَقْرِنْ شِكَايَتِي

Bi-al-ijābati wa aqrinn shikāyatī

With acceptance, and pair my complaint.

بِالتَّغْيِيرِ أَللَّهُمَّ لَا تَفْتِنِّي

Bi-at-taghīri allāhumma lā taftinnī

With change. O Allah, do not test me.

بِالْقُنُوطِ مِنْ إِنْصَافِكَ

Bi-al-qunūṭi min inṣāfika

With despair of Your justice.

وَلَا تَفْتِنْهُ بِالْأَمْنِ

Wa lā taftinhu bi-al-amni

Nor test him with security.

مِنْ إِنْكَارِكَ فَيُصِرَّ

Min inkārika fayuṣirra

From Your disapproval, lest he persists.

عَلَى ظُلْمِي وَيُحَاضِرَنِي

‘Alā ẓulmī wa yuḥāḍiranī

In my oppression and denies me.

بِحَقِّي وَعَرِّفْهُ عَمَّا قَلِيلٍ

Biḥaqqī wa ‘arrifhu ‘ammā qalīlin

My right, and make him know soon.

مَا أَوْعَدْتَ الظَّالِمِينَ

Mā aw‘adta aẓ-ẓālimīna

What You promised the oppressors.

وَعَرِّفْنِي مَا وَعَدْتَ

Wa ‘arrifnī mā wa‘adta

And make me know what You promised.

مِنْ إِجَابَةِ الْمُضْطَرِّينَ

Min ijābati al-muḍṭarrīna

For answering the distressed.

أَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ

Allāhumma ṣalli ‘alā Muḥammadin

O Allah, send blessings on Muhammad.

وَآلِهِ وَوَفِّقْنِي لِقَبُولِ

Wa ālihi wa waffiqnī liqabūli

And his family, and enable me to accept.

مَا قَضَيْتَ لِي وَعَلَيَّ

Mā qaḍayta lī wa ‘alayya

What You decreed for and against me.

وَرَضِّنِي بِمَا أَخَذْتَ لِي

Wa raḍḍinī bimā akhadhta lī

And make me content with what You took.

وَمِنِّي وَاهْدِنِي لِلَّتِي

Wa minnī wa ihdinī lil-latī

From me, and guide me to that.

هِيَ أَقْوَمُ وَاسْتَعْمِلْنِي

Hiya aqwamu wa ista‘milnī

Which is most upright, and employ me.

بِمَا هُوَ أَسْلَمُ

Bimā huwa aslamu

In what is safest.

أَللَّهُمَّ وَإِنْ كَانَتِ الْخِيَرَةُ

Allāhumma wa in kānati al-khiyaratu

O Allah, if the best choice.

لِي عِنْدَكَ فِي تَأْخِيرِ

Lī ‘indaka fī ta’khīri

For me lies with You in delaying.

الْأَخْذِ لِي وَتَرْكِ الِانْتِقَامِ

Al-akhdi lī wa tarki al-intiqāmi

My retribution and withholding vengeance.

مِمَّنْ ظَلَمَنِي إِلَى يَوْمِ

Mimman ẓalamanī ilā yawmi

From my oppressor until the day.

الْفَصْلِ وَمَجْمَعِ الْخَصْمِ

Al-faṣli wa majma‘i al-khaṣmi

Of decision and gathering of adversaries.

فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِهِ

Faṣalli ‘alā Muḥammadin wa ālihi

So bless Muhammad and his family.

وَأَيِّدْنِي مِنْكَ بِنِيَّةٍ

Wa ayyidnī minka biniyyatin

And support me from You with an intention.

صَادِقَةٍ وَصَبْرٍ دَائِمٍ

Ṣādiqatin wa ṣabrin dā’imin

Sincere and enduring patience.

وَأَعِذْنِي مِنْ سُوءِ الرَّغْبَةِ

Wa a‘idhnī min sū’i ar-raghbati

And protect me from evil desires.

وَهَلَعِ أَهْلِ الْحِرْصِ

Wa hala‘i ahli al-ḥirṣi

قَضَيْتَ وَثِقَتِي بِمَا تَخَيَّرْتَ

You decreed and my trust in Your choice.

آمِينَ رَبَّ الْعَالَمِينَ

Āmīna rabba al-‘ālamīna

Amen, Lord of the worlds.

إِنَّكَ ذُو الْفَضْلِ الْعَظِيمِ

يَامَنْ لاَ يَخْفَى عَلَيْهِ أَنْبَآءُ الْمُتَظَلِّمِينَ

yaa mal-laa yakh-faa a'lay-heee ambaaa-ul-mutaz'al-limeen

1.O He from whom is not concealed news of the aggrieved!

وَيَا مَنْ لاَ يَحْتَاجُ فِي قِصَصِهِمْ إلَى شَهَادَاتِ الشَّاهِدِينَ

wa yaa mal-laa yah'-taaju fee qas'as'ihim ilaa shahaadaatish-shaahideen

2.O He who has no need to be told about them by the witnessing of the witnesses!

وَيَا مَنْ قَرُبَتْ نُصْرَتُهُ مِنَ الْمَظْلُومِينَ

wa yaa man qarubat nus'-ratuhoo minal-maz'-loomeen

3.O He who whose help is near to the wronged!

وَيَا مَنْ بَعُدَ عَوْنُهُ عَنِ الظَّالِمِينَ قَدْ عَلِمْتَ

wa yaa mam-bau'da a'w-nuhoo a'niz'-z'aalimeen qad a'lim-ta

4.O He whose aid is far from the wrongdoers! You knowest,

يَا إلهِي مَا نالَنِي مِنْ [فُلاَنِ بْنِ فُلاَن] مِمَّا حَظَرْتَ

yaaa ilaahee maa naalanee min (fulaani ibn fulaanin) mim-maa h'az'ar-ta

5.my God, how so-and-so, son of so-and-so, has harmed me in that which You hast forbidden,

وَانْتَهَكَهُ مِنّي مِمَّا حَجَزْتَ عَلَيْهِ بَطَراً فِي نِعْمَتِكَ عِنْدَهُ وَاغْتِرَاراً بِنَكِيرِكَ عَلَيْهِ

wantahakahoo min-nee mim-maa h'ajaz-ta a'lay-h bat'aran fee nia'-matika i'ndah wagh-tiraaram-binakeerika a'lay-h

6.and how he has violated me in that which You hast prohibited, showing thereby ingratitude toward Your favour upon him and delusion concerning what You hast denied him.

أللَّهُمَّ فَصَلِّ اللَّهُمَّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد وَآلِهِ

al-laahum-ma fas'al-li a'laa muh'm-madiw-wa aaalih

7.O God, so bless Muhammad and his Household,

وَخُذْ ظَالِمِي وَعَدُوِّي عَنْ ظُلْمِي بِقُوَّتِكَ

wa khuz'-z'aalimee wa a'doo-wee a'n z'ul-mee biqoo-watik

8.keep my wrongdoing enemy from wronging me through Your strength,

وَافْلُلْ حَدَّهُ عَنِّي بِقُدْرَتِكَ وَاجْعَلْ لَهُ

waf-lul h'ad-dahoo a'n-nee biqud-ratik waj-a'l-lahoo

9.blunt his blade toward me through Your power, and assign to him

شُغْلاً فِيَما يَلِيهِ وَعَجْزاً عَمَّا يُناوِيْهِ

shugh-lan feemaa yaleeh w a'j-zan a'm-maa yunaaweeh

10.a diversion in that which is close to him and the inability to reach his enemy!

أللَّهُمَّ وَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد وَآلِهِ

al-laahum-ma wa s'al-li a'laa muh'am-madiw-wa aaalih

11.O God, bless Muhammad and his Household,

وَلاَ تُسَوِّغْ لَهُ ظُلْمِي وَأَحْسِنْ عَلَيْـهِ عَوْنِي،

wa laa tusaw-wigh lahoo z'ul-mee wa ah'-sin a'lay-hee a'w-nee

12.let the wrongdoer not find it easy to wrong me, give me good help against him,

وَاعْصِمْنِي مِنْ مِثْـلِ أَفْعَالِهِ، وَلا تَجْعَلْنِي فِي مِثْلِ حَالِهِ.

waa'-s'im-nee mim-mith-li af-a'alih wa laa taj-a'l-nee fee mith-li h'aalih

13.preserve me from the like of his acts, and place me not in the like of his situation!

أللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد وَآلِهِ ،

al-laahum-ma s'al-li a'laa muh'am-madiw-wa aaalih

14.O God, bless Muhammad and his Household,

وَأَعِدْنِي عَلَيْهِ عَدْوى حَاضِرَةً تَكُونُ مِنْ غَيْظِي بِهِ شِفَاءً،

wa ai'd-nee a'lay-hee a'd-wana h'aaz''iratan takoonu min ghay-z'ee bihee shifaaa

15.and assist me with an immediate assistance that will heal my rage toward him

وَمِنْ حَنَقِي عَلَيْهِ وَفَاءً.

wa min h'anaqee a'lay-hee wafaaa

16.and redeem my fury toward him!

أللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد وَآلِهِ

al-laahum-ma s'al-li a'laa muh'am-madiw-wa aaalih

17.O God, bless Muhammad and his Household,

وَعَوِّضْنِي مِنْ ظُلْمِهِ لِي عَفْوَكَ،

wa a'w-wiz''-nee min z'ul-mihee lee a'f-wak

18.compensate me for his wronging me with Your pardon

وَأَبْدِلْنِي بِسُوْءِ صنِيعِهِ بِيْ رَحْمَتَكَ،

wa ab-dil-nee bisooo-i s'aneei'hee bee rah'-matak

19.and replace his evil action toward me with Your mercy,

فَكُلُّ مَكْرُوه جَلَلٌ دُونَ سَخَطِكَ،

fakul-lu mak-roohin jalalun doona sakhat'ik

20.for every detested thing less than Your anger is slight

وَكُلُّ مُرْزِئَةٍ سَوَاءٌ مَعَ مَوْجِدَتِكَ.

wa kul-lu mar-zi-atin sawaaa-um-maa' maw-jidatik

21.and every disaster next to Your rancour indifferent!

أللَّهُمَّ فَكَمَا كَـرَّهْتَ إلَيَّ أَنْ أَظْلِمَ فَقِنِي مِنْ أَنْ أُظْلَمَ.

al-laahum-ma fakamaa kar-rah-ta ilay-ya an uz'-lama faqinee min an az'-lim

22.O God, just as You hast made me detest being wronged, so also protect me from doing wrong!

أللَّهُمَّ لاَ أَشْكُو إلَى أَحَد سِوَاكَ،

sll-lahum-ma laaa ashkooo ilaaa ah'adin siwaak

23.O God, I complain to no one but You,

وَلاَ أَسْتَعِينُ بِحَاكِم غَيْرِكَ حَاشَاكَ

wa laaa as-tae'enu bih'aakimin ghay-rik h'aashaak

24.and I seek help from no ruler other than You - how could I?

فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد وَآلِهِ،

fas'al-li a'laa muh'am-madiw-wa aaalih

25.So bless Muhammad and his Household,

وَصِلْ دُعَائِي بِالإِجَابَةِ، وَأَقْرِنْ شِكَايَتِي بِالتَّغْيِيرِ.

wa s'il dua'aa-ee bil-ijaabah waq-rin shikaayatee bit-tagh-yeer

26.join my supplication to response, and unite my complaint with change!

أَللَّهُمَّ لا تَفْتِنِّي بِالْقُنُوطِ مِنْ إنْصَافِكَ،

al-laahum-ma laa taf-tin-nee bil-qunoot'i min ins'aafik

27.O God, tempt me not with despair of Your just treatment

وَلاَ تَفْتِنْـهُ بِالأَمْنِ مِنْ إنْكَارِكَ،

wa laa taf-tin-hoo bil-am-ni min inkaarik

28.and tempt him not with feeling secure from Your disapproval,

فَيُصِرَّ عَلَى ظُلْمِي وَيُحَاضِرَنِي بِحَقِّيْ

fayus'ir-ra a'laa z'ul-mee wa yuh'aas'iranee bih'aq-qee

29.lest he persist in wronging me and constrain me in my rights.

وَعَرِّفْهُ عَمَّا قَلِيْل مَا أَوْعَدْتَ الظَّالِمِينَ،

wa a'r-rif-hoo a'm-maa qaleelim-maaa aw-a't-taz'-z'aalimeen

30.Let him soon recognize what You hast promised the wrongdoers

وَعَرِّفْنِي مَا وَعَدْتَ مِنْ إجَابَةِ الْمُضْطَرِّينَ.

wa a'r-rif-nee maa waa't-ta min ijaabatil-muz''-t'ar-reen

31.and let me recognize Your promised response to the distressed!

أللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد وَآلِهِ،

al-laahum-ma s'al-li a'laa muh'am-madiw-wa aaalih

32.O God, bless Muhammad and his Household,

وَوَفِّقْنِي لِقَبُولِ مَا قَضَيْتَ لِيْ وَعَليَّ،

wa waf-fiq-nee liqabooli maa qaz''ay-ta lee wa a'lay

33.give me success in accepting Your decrees for me and against me,

وَرَضِّنِيْ بِمَا أَخَذْتَ لي وَمِنِّي

wa raz''-z''inee bimaaa akhad'-ta lee wa min-nee

34.make me pleased with what You takest for me and from me,

وَاهْـدِنِي لِلَّتِيْ هِي أَقْوَمُ وَاسْتَعْمِلْنِي بِمَا هُوَ أَسْلَمُ.

wah-dinee lil-latee heea aq-wam was-taa'-mil-nee bimaa huwa as-lam

35.guide me to that which is most upright and employ me in that which is safest!

أللَّهُمَّ وَإنْ كَانَتِ الْخِيَرَةُ لِيْ عِنْدَكَ

al-laahum-ma wa in kaanatil-kheearatu lee i'ndaka

36.O God, if the best for me with You lies

فِي تَأْخِيرِ الأَخْذِ لِي وَتَرْكِ الانْتِقَامِ

fee taa-kheeril-akh-d'i lee wa tar-kilintiqaami

37.in delaying the taking to task for my sake of him

مِمَّنْ ظَلَمَنِيْ إلَى يَوْمِ الْفَصْلِ وَمَجْمَعِ الْخَصْمِ،

mim-man z'alamaneee ilaa yaw-mil-fas'-li wa maj-mai'l-khas'-m

38.who has wronged me and in refraining from vengeance toward him until the Day of Decision and the Gathering of Disputants,

فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد وَآلِهِ ،

fas'al-li a'laa muh'am-madiw-wa aaalih

39.then bless Muhammad and his Household,

وَأَيِّدْنِي مِنْكَ بِنِيَّة صَادِقَة وَصَبْر دَائِم،

wa ay-yid-nee minka binee-yatin s'aadiqatiw-wa s'ab-rin daaa-im

40.strengthen me from You with true intention and lasting patience,

وَأَعِذْنِي مِنْ سُوءِ الرَّغْبَةِ، وَهَلَعِ أَهْلِ الْحِرْصِ،

wa ai'd'-nee min sooo-ir-ragh-bati wa halai' ah-lil-h'ir-s'

41.give me refuge from evil desire and the impatience of the greedy

وَصَوِّرْ فِي قَلْبِي مِثَالَ مَا ادَّخَـرْتَ لِي مِنْ ثَوَابِـكَ،

wa s'aw-wir fee qal-bee mithaala mad-dakhar-ta lee min thawaabika

42.and form in my heart the image of Your reward

وَأَعْدَدْتَ لِخَصْمِي مِنْ جَزَائِكَ وَعِقَابِكَ ،

wa aa'-dat-ta likhas'-mee min jazaaa-ika wai'qaabik

43.which You hast stored away for me and the repayment and punishment

وَاجْعَلْ ذَلِكَ سَبَباً لِقَنَاعَتِي بِمَا قَضَيْتَ ،

waj-a'l d'alika sababal-liqanaaa'tee bimaa qaz''ay-ta

44.which You has prepared for my disputant! Make this a cause of my contentment with what You hast decreed

وَثِقَتِي بِمَا تَخَيَّرْتَ، آمِينَ رَبَّ الْعَالَمِينَ ،

wa thiqatee bimaa takhay-yar-t aaameena rab-bal-a'alameen

45.and my trust in what You hast chosen! Amen, Lord of the worlds!

إنَّكَ ذُو الْفَضْلِ الْعَظِيمِ ، وَأَنْتَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْء قَدِيرٌ .

in-naka d'ool-faz''-lil-a'z'eem wa anta a'laa kul-li shay-in qadeer

46.You art of bounty abounding and You art powerful over everything.
