Sahifa Sajjadiya 17: Against Satan, Seeking Refuge

مِنْ نَزَغَاتِ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ وَكَيْدِهِ وَمَكَائِدِهِ،

Min nazaġāti al-shayṭāni al-rajīmi wa-kaydihi wa-makā’idihi,

From the instigations of the accursed Satan, and his plots and traps,

وَمِنَ الثِّقَةِ بِأَمَانِيِّهِ وَمَوَاعِيدِهِ وَغُرُورِهِ وَمَصَائِدِهِ،

Wa-mina al-thiqati bi-amāniyyihi wa-mawā‘īdihi wa-ghurūrihi wa-maṣā’idihi,

And from trusting in his false hopes, promises, deceptions, and snares,

وَأَنْ يُطْمِعَ نَفْسَهُ فِي إِضْلَالِنَا عَنْ طَاعَتِكَ،

Wa-an yuṭmi‘a nafsahu fī iḍlālinā ‘an ṭā‘atika,

Or that he should desire to mislead us away from obeying You,

وَامْتِهَانِنَا بِمَعْصِيَتِكَ، أَوْ أَنْ يَحْسُنَ عِنْدَنَا مَا حَسَّنَ لَنَا،

Wa-imtihānanā bi-ma‘ṣiyatika, aw an yaḥsuna ‘indanā mā ḥassana lanā,

And disgrace us with disobedience to You, or make seem good to us what he beautified for us,

أَوْ أَنْ يَثْقُلَ عَلَيْنَا مَا كَرَّهَ إِلَيْنَا.

Aw an yathqula ‘alaynā mā karraha ilaynā.

Or make burdensome to us what he has made hateful to us.

اَللَّهُمَّ اخْسَأْهُ عَنَّا بِعِبَادَتِكَ،

Allāhumma ikhsa’hu ‘annā bi-‘ibādatika,

O Allah, drive him away from us through our worship of You,

وَاكْبِتْهُ بِدُؤُوبِنَا فِي مَحَبَّتِكَ،

Wa-akbit’hu bi-du’ūbinā fī maḥabbatika,

And suppress him by our persistence in Your love,

وَاجْعَلْ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَهُ سِتْرًا لَا يَهْتِكُهُ،

Wa-aj‘al baynanā wa-baynahu sitran lā yahtikuhu,

And place between us and him a veil he cannot tear,

وَرَدْمًا مُصْمَتًا لَا يَفْتُقُهُ.

Wa-radman muṣmatan lā yaftuqūhu.

And a solid barrier he cannot break open.

اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِهِ،

Allāhumma ṣalli ‘alā Muḥammadin wa-Ālihi,

O Allah, bless Muḥammad and his family,

وَاشْغَلْهُ عَنَّا بِبَعْضِ أَعْدَائِكَ،

Wa-ashghil’hu ‘annā bi-ba‘ḍi a‘dā’ika,

And occupy him away from us with some of Your enemies,

وَاعْصِمْنَا مِنْهُ بِحُسْنِ رِعَايَتِكَ، وَاكْفِنَا خَتْرَهُ،

Wa-‘ṣimnā min’hu bi-ḥusni ri‘āyatika, wa-kfinā khatrahū,

And protect us from him with Your good care, and suffice us from his harm,

وَوَلِّـنَا ظَهْرَهُ، وَاقْطَعْ عَنَّا إِثْرَهُ.

Wa-wallinā ẓahrahū, wa-qṭa‘ ‘annā ithrahū.

Turn his back to us, and cut off his tracks from us.

اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِهِ،

Allāhumma ṣalli ‘alā Muḥammadin wa-Ālihi,

O Allah, bless Muḥammad and his family,

وَأَمْتِعْنَا مِنَ الْهُدَى بِمِثْلِ ضَلَالَتِهِ،

Wa-amti‘nā mina l-hudā bi-mithli ḍalālatihī,

Grant us enjoyment of guidance equal to his misguidance,

وَزَوِّدْنَا مِنَ التَّقْوَى ضِدَّ غَوَايَتِهِ،

Wa-zawwidnā mina t-taqwā ḍidda ghawāyatihī,

And provide us with piety as an opposite to his error,

وَاسْلُكْ بِنَا مِنَ التُّقَى خِلَافَ سَبِيلِهِ مِنَ الرَّدَى.

Wasluk binā mina t-tuqa khilāfa sabīlihī mina r-radā.

And lead us in the way of piety, against his path of ruin.

اَللَّهُمَّ لَا تَجْعَلْ لَهُ فِي قُلُوبِنَا مَدْخَلًا،

Allāhumma lā taj‘al lahu fī qulūbinā madkhalan,

O Allah, do not allow him an entry into our hearts,

وَلَا تُوَطِّنَنَّ لَهُ فِيمَا لَدَيْنَا مَنْزِلًا.

Wa-lā tuwaṭṭinanna lahu fīmā ladaynā manzilan.

Nor let him establish any dwelling with us.

اَللَّهُمَّ وَمَا سَوَّلَ لَنَا مِنْ بَاطِلٍ فَعَرِّفْنَاهُ،

Allāhumma wa-mā sawwala lanā min bāṭilin fa-‘arifnāhū,

O Allah, whatever falsehood he suggests to us, make us know it,

وَإِذَا عَرَّفْتَنَاهُ فَقِنَاهُ، وَبَصِّرْنَا مَا نُكَايِدُهُ بِهِ،

Wa-idhā ‘araftanāhū faqīnākahū, wa-baṣṣirnā mā nukāyiduhū bihī,

And once You make us know it, protect us from it, and show us how to resist him with it,

وَأَلْهِمْنَا مَا نُعِدُّهُ لَهُ، وَأَيْقِظْنَا عَنْ سِنَةِ الْغَفْلَةِ بِالرُّكُونِ إِلَيْهِ،

Wa-alhimnā mā nu‘idduhū lahū, wa-ayqiẓnā ‘an sinati l-ghaflati bi-r-rukūni ilayhī,

And inspire us with what we prepare against him, and awaken us from the slumber of heedlessness by leaning toward him,

اَللَّهُمَّ وَاشْغَلْنَا عَنْهُ بِذِكْرِكَ،

Allāhumma washghalnā ‘anhu bidhikrika,

O Allah, occupy us from him with Your remembrance,

وَاعْصِمْنَا مِنْهُ بِطَاعَتِكَ،

Wa-‘ṣimnā minhū bi-ṭā‘atika,

And protect us from him through obedience to You,

وَكْفِنَا مُؤْنَتَهُ بِنَصْرِكَ،

Wakfinā mu’natahu binaṣrik,

And suffice us against his burden through Your help,

وَأَغْنِنَا عَنْ مَكْرِهِ بِإِمْدَادِكَ،

Wa-aghinnā ‘an makrihi bi-imdādik,

And make us needless of his deceit through Your support,

وَأَعْطِنَا فَوْزَ الْمَغْفِرَةِ، وَحُلِيَّ الْمَغَانِمِ.

Wa-a‘ṭinā fawza l-maghfirati, wa-ḥuliyya l-magānim.

And grant us the triumph of forgiveness, and the adornment of spoils.

اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِهِ،

Allāhumma ṣalli ‘alā Muḥammadin wa-ālihi,

O Allah, bless Muhammad and his family,

وَحَبِّبْ إِلَيْنَا صُحْبَةَ الْأَبْرَارِ،

Wa-ḥabbib ilaynā ṣuḥbata l-abrār,

And make beloved to us the companionship of the righteous,

وَافْتَحْ لَنَا عَلَى طَاعَتِكَ،

Wa-ftaḥ lanā ‘alā ṭā‘atika,

And open for us the doors of Your obedience,

وَأَغْلِقْ عَنَّا أَبْوَابَ الْمَعْصِيَةِ،

Wa-aghliq ‘annā abwāba l-ma‘ṣiyah,

And close for us the doors of disobedience,

وَاجْعَلْنَا مِنْ أَهْلِ طَاعَتِكَ،

Waj‘alnā min ahli ṭā‘atika,

And make us among the people of Your obedience,

وَارْزُقْنَا إِخْلَاصَ الْعَمَلِ لَكَ،

Warzuqnā ikhlāṣa l-‘amali laka,

And grant us sincerity in our deeds for You,

وَالتَّوَكُّلَ عَلَيْكَ، وَالتَّسْلِيمَ لِأَمْرِكَ.

Wa-t-tawakkula ‘alayka, wa-t-taslīma li-amrika.

And reliance upon You, and submission to Your command.

اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِهِ،

Allāhumma ṣalli ‘alā Muḥammadin wa-ālihi,

O Allah, bless Muhammad and his family,

وَاجْعَلْنَا لَكَ ذَاكِرِينَ،

Waj‘alnā laka dhākirīn,

And make us mindful of You,

وَلَكَ شَاكِرِينَ، وَلِآلَائِكَ مُثْنِينَ،

Wa-laka shākirīn, wa-li-ālā’ika muthnīn,

And grateful to You, and praising Your blessings,

وَلِعَدُوِّكَ مُعَانِدِينَ،

Wa-li-‘aduwwika mu‘ānidīn,

And opposing Your enemy,

وَلِأَوْلِيَائِكَ مُوَالِينَ.

Wa-li-awliyā’ika muwālīn,

And loyal to Your friends,

وَارْزُقْنَا النَّصِيبَ الْأَوْفَرَ، وَالْحَظَّ الْأَكْبَرَ.

Warzuqnā n-naṣība l-awfara, wa-l-ḥaẓẓa l-akbara.

And grant us the greatest share and the highest fortune.

اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِهِ،

Allāhumma ṣalli ‘alā Muḥammadin wa-ālihi,

O Allah, bless Muhammad and his family,

وَاجْعَلْ عِيشَتَنَا هَنِيئَةً،

Waj‘al ‘īshatanā hanī’ah,

And make our livelihood pleasant,

وَأَعْمَارَنَا سَعِيدَةً،

Wa-a‘māranā sa‘īdah,

And our lives happy,

وَأَرْزَاقَنَا مُوَسَّعَةً،

Wa-arzāqanā muwassa‘ah,

And our sustenance abundant,

وَأَحْوَالَنَا مُسْتَقِيمَةً،

Wa-aḥwālanā mustaqīmah,

And our states upright,

وَأَسْرَارَنَا مَكْتُومَةً،

Wa-asrāranā maktūmah,

And our secrets concealed,

وَحَوَائِجَنَا مَقْضِيَّةً،

Wa-ḥawā’ijanā maqḍiyyah,

And our needs fulfilled,

وَأَعْمَالَنَا مَقْبُولَةً،

Wa-a‘mālanā maqbūlah,

And our deeds accepted,

وَذُنُوبَنَا مَغْفُورَةً،

Wa-dhunūbanā maghfūrah,

And our sins forgiven,

وَحَوَائِجَنَا مَقْضِيَّةً،

Wa-ḥawā’ijanā maqḍiyyah,

And our needs granted,

وَأَمَانِينَا مَبْلُوغَةً،

Wa-amānīnā mablūghah,

And our hopes attained,

وَحُسْنَ عَوَاقِبِنَا مَبْلُوغَةً،

Wa-ḥusna ‘awāqibinā mablūghah,

And our good ends achieved,

وَحُسْنَ مَرَاجِعِنَا مَبْلُوغَةً،

Wa-ḥusna marāji‘inā mablūghah,

And our good returns reached,

وَحَوَائِجَنَا مَقْضِيَّةً،

Wa-ḥawā’ijanā maqḍiyyah,

And our needs fulfilled,

وَآمِنَّا فِي أَوْطَانِنَا،

Wa-āminnā fī awṭāninā,

And grant us safety in our homelands,

وَأَصْلِحْ أَئِمَّتَنَا،

Wa-aṣliḥ a’immatanā,

And rectify our leaders,

وَوُلَاةَ أُمُورِنَا،

Wa-wulāta umūrinā,

And the governors of our affairs,

وَأَيِّدْ سُلْطَانَنَا،

Wa-ayyid sulṭānanā,

And strengthen our authority,

وَانْصُرْ جُنُودَنَا،

Wa-nṣur junūdanā,

And grant victory to our soldiers,

وَاحْمِ حُدُودَنَا،

Wa-iḥmi ḥudūdanā,

And protect our borders,

وَآمِنَّا فِي أَوْطَانِنَا،

Wa-āminnā fī awṭāninā,

And keep us safe in our lands,

بِرَحْمَتِكَ يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ.

Bi-raḥmatika yā arḥama ar-rāḥimīn.

By Your mercy, O Most Merciful of the merciful.

آمِينَ رَبَّ الْعَالَمِينَ.

Āmīn rabba al-‘ālamīn.

Amen, Lord of the worlds.

أَللَّهُمَّ إنَّا نَعُوذُ بِكَ

al-laahum-ma in-naa nau'wd'u bika

O God, we seek refuge in You

مِنْ نَزَغَـاتِ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ وَكَيْدِهِ وَمَكَائِدِهِ،

min nazaghaati shay-t'aanir-rajeem wa kay-dihee wa makaaa-idih

from the instigations of the accursed Satan, his trickery, and his traps,

وَمِنَ الثِّقَةِ بِأَمَـانِيِّهِ وَمَوَاعِيدِهِ وَغُرُورِهِ وَمَصَائِدِهِ،

wa minath-thiqati bimaanee-yihee wa mawaae'edih wa ghuroorihee wa mas'aaa-idih

from trust in his false hopes, his promises, his delusions, and his snares,

وَأَنْ يُطْمِعَ نَفْسَهُ فِي إضْلاَلِنَا

wa ay-yut'-mia' naf-sahoo fee iz''-laalinaa

and lest he should make himself crave to lead us away

عَنْ طَاعَتِكَ وَامْتِهَانِنَا بِمَعْصِيَتِكَ،

a'n t'aaa'tik wam-tihaaninaa bimaa'-s'eeatik

from Your obedience and to degrade us through our disobeying You,

أَوْ أَنْ يَحْسُنَ عِنْدَنَا مَا حَسَّنَ لَنَا،

aw ay-yah'-suna i'ndanaa maa h'as-sana lanaa

and lest what he has shown us as beautiful be beautiful for us

أَوْ أَنْ يَثْقُلَ عَلَيْنَا مَا كَرَّهَ إلَيْنَا.

aw ay-yath-qula a'lay-naa maa kar-raha ilay-naa

and what he has shown us as detestable weigh down upon us.

أللَّهُمَّ اخْسَأْهُ عَنَّا بِعِبَادَتِكَ،

al-laahum-ma akh-saa-hoo a'n-naa bii'baadatik

O God, drive him away from us through Your worship,

وَاكْبِتْهُ بِدُؤوبِنَا فِي مَحَبَّتِكَ،

wak-bit-hoo bidu-oobinaa fee mah'ab-batik

throw him down through our perseverance in Your love,

وَاجْعَلْ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَهُ سِتْراً لاَ يَهْتِكُهُ،

waj-a'l bay-nanaa wabay-nahoo sit-ral-laa yah-tikuh

and place between him and us a covering that he cannot tear away

وَرَدْماً مُصْمِتاً لا يَفْتُقُهُ.

wa rad-mam-mus'-mital-laa yaf-tuquh

and a solid barrier that he cannot cut through!

أللَّهُمَّ صَـلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد وَآلِـهِ،

al-laahum-ma s'al-li a'laa muh'am-madiw-wa aaalih

O God, bless Muhammad and his Household,

وَاشْغَلْهُ عَنَّا بِبَعْضِ أَعْدَائِكَ،

wash-ghal-hoo a'n-naa bibaa'-z''i aa'-daaa-ik

distract Satan from us with some of Your enemies,

وَاعْصِمْنَا مِنْهُ بِحُسْنِ رِعَايَتِكَ، وَاكْفِنَا خَتْرَهُ،

waa'-s'im-naa min-hoo bih'us-ni ria'ayatik wak-finaa khat-rah

preserve us from him through Your good guarding, spare us his treachery,

وَوَلِّنَا ظَهْرَهُ، وَاقْطَعْ عَنَّا إثْرَهُ.

wa wal-linaa z'ah-rah waq-t'aa' a'n-naaa ith-rah

turn his back toward us, and cut off from us his trace!

اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد وَآلِهِ

al-laahum-ma s'al-li a'laa muh'am-madiw-wa aaalih

O God, bless Muhammad and his Household,

وَأَمْتِعْنَا مِنَ الْهُدَى، بِمِثْلِ ضَلاَلَتِهِ،

wa am-tia'-naa minal-hudaa bimith-li z''alaalatih

give us to enjoy guidance the like of his misguidance,

وَزَوِّدْنَا مِنَ التَّقْوَى ضِدَّ غَوَايَتِهِ،

wa zw-wid-naa minat-taq-waa z''id-da ghawaayatih

increase us in piety against his seduction,

وَاسْلُكْ بِنَـا مِنَ التُّقى خِـلافَ سَبِيلِهِ مِنَ الـرَّدى.

was-luk binaa minat-tuqaa khilaafa sabeelihee minar-radaa

and make us walk in reverential fear contrary to his path of ruin!

أللَّهُمَّ لاَ تَجْعَلْ لَهُ فِي قُلُوبِنَا مَدْخَلاً

al-laahum-ma laa taj-a'l-lahoo fee quloobinaa mad-khalaa

O God, assign him no place of entrance into our hearts

وَلاَ تُوطِنَنَّ لَهُ فِيمَا لَدَيْنَا مَنْزِلاً.

wa laa toot'inan-na lahoo feemaa laday-naa manzilaa

and do not allow him to make his home in that which is with us!

اللَّهُمَّ وَمَا سَوَّلَ لَنَا مِنْ بَاطِل فَعَرِّفْنَاهُ

al-laahum-ma wa maa saw-wala lanaa mim-baat'ilin faa'r-rif-naahoo

O God, cause us to recognize the falsehood with which he tempts us,

وَإذَا عَرَّفْتَنَاهُ فَقِنَاهُ، وَبَصِّرْنَا مَا نُكَايِدُهُ بِهِ،

wa id'aa a'r-raf-tanaahoo faqinaahu wa bas'-s'ir-naa maa nukaayiduhoo bih

and once You hast caused us to recognize it, protect us from it! Make us see what will allow us to outwit him,

وَأَلْهِمْنَا مَا نُعِدُّهُ لَهُ، وَأَيْقِظْنَا عَنْ سِنَةِ الْغَفْلَةِ بِالرُّكُونِ إلَيْهِ

wa al-him-naa maa nui'd-duhoo lah wa ay-qiz'-naa a'n sinatil-ghaf-lati bir-rukooni ilay-h

.inspire us with all that we can make ready for him, awaken us from the heedless slumber of relying upon him,

وَأَحْسِنْ بِتَوْفِيقِكَ عَوْنَنَا عَلَيْهِ.

wa ah'-sim-bitaw-feeqika a'w-nan a a'lay-h

and help us well, through Your giving success, against him!

اللَّهُمَّ وَأَشْرِبْ قُلُوبَنَـا إنْكَارَ عَمَلِهِ،

al-laahum-ma wa ash-rib quloobanaaa inkaara a'malih

O God, saturate our hearts with the rejection of his works

وَالْـطُفْ لَنَا فِي نَقضِ حِيَلِهِ.

wal-t'uf lanaa fee naq-z''i h'eealih

and be gentle to us by destroying his stratagems!

أللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد وَآلِهِ وَحَوِّلْ سُلْطَانَهُ عَنَّا،

al-laahum-ma s'al-li muh'am-madiw-wa aaalih wa h'aw-wil sul-t'aanahoo a'n-naa

O God, bless Muhammad and his Household, turn his authority away from us,

وَاقْطَعْ رَجَاءَهُ مِنَّا ، وادْرَأْه عَنِ الْوُلُوعِ بِنَا.

waq-t'aa' rajaaa-ahoo min-naa wad-raa-hoo a'nil-wlooi' binaa

cut off his hope from us, and keep him from craving for us!

اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد وَآلِهِ

al-laahum-ma s'al-li a'laa muh'am-madiw-wa aaalih

O God, bless Muhammad and his Household,

وَاجْعَلْ آباءَنَا وَأُمَّهَاتِنَا وَأَوْلاَدَنَا وَأَهَالِينَا

waj-a'l aaabaaa-anaa wa um-mahaatinaa wa aw-laadanaa wa ahaaleenaa

and place our fathers, our mothers, our children, our wives,

وَذَوِي أَرْحَامِنَا وَقَرَابَاتِنَا وَجِيْرَانَنَا

wa d'aweee ar-h'aaminaa wa qaraabaatinaa wa jeeraananaa

our siblings, our relatives, and the faithful among our neighbours,

مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَـاتِ مِنْهُ فِي حِرْز حَـارِز،

minal-moo-mineena wal-moo-minaati min-hoo fee h'ir-zin h'aariz

male and female, in a sanctuary impregnable to him,

وَحِصْن حَافِظ ، وَكَهْف مَانِع، وَألْبِسْهُمْ مِنْهُ جُنَناً وَاقِيَةً،

wa h'is'-nin h'aafiz' wa kah-fim-maania'- wa al-bis-hum min-hoo junanaw-waaqeeah

وَأَعْطِهِمْ عَلَيْهِ أَسْلِحَةً مَاضِيَةً

أللَّهُمَّ وَاعْمُمْ بِذلِكَ مَنْ شَهِدَ لَكَ بِالرُّبُوبِيَّةِ،

al-laahum-ma waa'-mum bid'alika man- shahida laka bir-rubwbee-yah

O God, include in that everyone who witnesses to You as Lord,

وَأَخْلَصَ لَكَ بِالْوَحْدَانِيَّةِ،

wa akh-las'a laka bil-wah'-daanee-yah

devotes himself sincerely to Your Unity,

وَعَادَاهُ لَكَ بِحَقِيقَةِ الْعُبُودِيَّة،

wa a'adaahoo laka bih'aqeeqatil-u'boodee-yah

shows enmity toward him through the reality of servanthood,

وَاسْتَظْهَرَ بِكَ عَلَيْهِ فِي مَعْرِفَةِ الْعُلُومِ الرَّبَّانِيَّةِ.

was-taz'-hara bika a'lay-hee fee maa'-rifatil-u'loomir-rab-baanee-yah

and seeks help from You against him through knowledge of the divine sciences!

اللَّهُمَّ احْلُلْ مَا عَقَدَ، وَافْتقْ مَا رَتَقَ،

al-laahum-ma ah'-lul maa a'qad waf-tuq maa rataq

O God, undo what he ties, unstitch what he sews up,

وَافسَخ مَا دَبَّرَ، وَثَبِّطْهُ إذَا عَزَمَ، وَانْقُضْ مَا أَبْرَمَ.

waf-sakh maa dab-bar wa thab-bit'-hooo id'aa a'zam wanquz'' maaa ab-ram

dislocate what he devises, frustrate him when he makes up his mind, and destroy what he establishes!

اللَّهُمَّ وَاهْزِمْ جُنْدَهُ وَأَبْطِلْ كَيْدَهُ

al-laahum-ma wah-zim jundah wa ab-t'il kay-dah

O God, rout his troops, nullify his trickery,

وَاهْدِمْ كَهْفَهُ وَأَرْغِمْ أَنْفَهُ.

wah-dim kah-fah wa ar-ghim anfah

make his cave collapse, and rub his nose in the ground!

اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْنَا فِي نَظْم أَعْدَآئِهِ

al-laahum-ma aj-a'l-naa fee naz'-mi aa'-daaa-ih

O God, place us in the ranks of his enemies

وَاعْزِلْنَا عَنْ عِدَادِ أَوْلِيَائِهِ،

waa'-zil-naa a'n i'daadi aw-leeaaa-ih

and remove us from the number of his friends,

لا نُطِيعُ لَهُ إذَا اسْتَهْوَانَا،

laa nut'eeu' lahooo id'aa as-tah-waanaa

that we obey him not when he entices us

وَلا نَسْتَجِيبُ لَهُ إذَا دَعَانَا

wa laa nas-tajeebu lahooo id'aa daa'anaa

and answer him not when he calls to us!

نَأْمُرُ بِمُنَاوَاتِهِ مَنْ أَطَاعَ أَمْرَنَا

naa-muru bimunaawaatihee man at'aaa' am-ranaa

We command everyone who obeys our command to be his enemy

وَنَعِظُ عَنْ مُتَابَعَتِهِ مَنِ اتَّبَعَ زَجْرَنَا.

wa nai'z'u a'm-mutaabaa'tihee mani at-tabaa' zaj-ranaa

and we admonish everyone who follows our prohibition not to follow him!

اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد خَاتَمِ النَّبِيِّينَ وَسَيِّدِ الْمُرْسَلِينَ

al-laahum-ma s'al-li a'laa muh'am-madin khaatamin-nabee-yeena wa say-yidil-mur-saleena

O God, bless Muhammad the Seal of the prophets and lord of the emissaries,

وَعَلَى أَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ الطَّيِّبِينَ الـطَّاهِرِينَ

wa a'laaa ah-li bay-tihit'-t'ay-yibeenat'-t'aahireen

and the folk of his house, the good, the pure!

وَأَعِذْنَا وَأَهَـالِينَا وَإخْـوَانَنَا

wa ai'd'-naa waahaaleenaa wa ikh-waananaa

Give refuge to us, our families, our brothers,

وَجَمِيـعَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ مِمَّا اسْتَعَذْنَا مِنْهُ،

wa jameea'l-moo-mineena wal-moo-minaati mim-mas-taa'd'-naa min-h

and all the faithful, male and female, from that from which we seek refuge,

وَأَجِرْنَا مِمَّا اسْتَجَرْنَا بِكَ مِنْ خَوْفِهِ

wa ajir-naa mim-mas-tajar-naa bika min khaw-fih

and grant us sanctuary from that through fear of which we seek sanctuary in You!

وَاسْمَعْ لَنَا مَا دَعَوْنَا بِهِ وَأَعْطِنَا مَا أَغْفَلْنَاهُ وَاحْفَظْ لَنَا مَا نَسِيْنَاهُ،

was-maa' lanaa maa daa'w-naa bih wa a'-t'inaa maaa agh-fal-naah wah'-faz' lanaa maa naseenaah

Hear our supplication to You, bestow upon us that of which we have been heedless, and safeguard for us what we have forgotten!

وَصَيِّرْنَا بِذَلِكَ فِي دَرَجَاتِ الصَّالِحِينَ

wa s'ay-yir-naa bid'alika fee darajaatis'-s'aalih'een

Through all this bring us into the ranks of the righteous

وَمَـرَاتِبِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ

wa maraatibil-moo-mineen

and the degrees of the faithful!

آمينَ رَبَّ ا لْعَالَمِينَ .

aaameena rab-bal-a'alameen

Amen, Lord of the worlds!

وَأَنْتَ تَرَاهُ مِنْ حَيْثُ لَا يَرَاكَ وَأَنْتَ أَقْوَى

Wa anta tarāhu min ḥaythu lā yarāka wa anta aqwā

And You see him from where he sees You not, and You are stronger.

عَلَى أَمْرِهِ كُلِّهِ وَهُوَ لَا يَقْوَى عَلَى شَيْءٍ

‘Alā amrihi kullihi wa huwa lā yaqwā ‘alā shay’in

Over all his affairs, while he has no power over anything.

مِنْ أَمْرِكَ اللَّهُمَّ فَإِنِّي أَسْتَعِينُ بِكَ عَلَيْهِ يَا رَبِّ

Min amrika allāhumma fa-innī asta‘īnu bika ‘alayhi yā rabbi

Of Your command, O Allah, I seek Your help against him, O Lord.

فَإِنِّي لَا طَاقَةَ لِي بِهِ وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ

Fa-innī lā ṭāqata lī bihi wa lā ḥawla wa lā quwwata

For I have no strength against him, nor power nor might.

لِي عَلَيْهِ إِلَّا بِكَ يَا رَبِّ اللَّهُمَّ إِنْ أَرَادَنِي

Lī ‘alayhi illā bika yā rabbi allāhumma in arādanī

Against him except through You, O Lord, O Allah, if he intends me harm.

فَأَرِدْهُ وَإِنْ كَادَنِي فَكِدْهُ وَاكْفِنِي شَرَّهُ وَاجْعَلْ

Fa-aridhu wa in kādanī fa-kidhu wa ikfinī sharrahu wa ij‘al

Then thwart him, and if he plots against me, plot against him, and protect me from his evil, and make.

كَيْدَهُ فِي نَحْرِهِ بِرَحْمَتِكَ يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ

Kaydahu fī naḥrihi bi-raḥmatika yā arḥama ar-rāḥimīna

His plot recoil upon him, by Your mercy, O Most Merciful of the merciful.

وَصَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِهِ الطَّاهِرِينَ

Wa ṣallā Allāhu ‘alā Muḥammadin wa ālihi aṭ-ṭāhirīna

And may Allah bless Muhammad and his pure family.
