Dua Aaliya Madhameen

اَللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي زُرْتُ هٰذَا ٱلْإِمَامَ

allahumma inni zurtu hadha al-imama

O Allah, I am visiting this Imam

مُقِرّاً بِإِمَامَتِهِ

muqirran bi'imamatihi

confessing his Imamate

مُعْتَقِداً لِفَرْضِ طَاعَتِهِ

mu`taqidan lifardi ta`atihi

and believing in the obligation of the obedience to him;

فَقَصَدْتُ مَشْهَدَهُ بِذُنُوبِي وَعُيُوبِي

faqasadtu mashhadahu bidhunubi wa `uyubi

therefore, I have betaken myself to his shrine in spite of all of my sins, defects,

وَمُوبِقَاتِ آثَامِي

wa mubiqati athami

the perils of my wrongdoings,

وَكَثْرَةِ سَيِّئَاتِي وَخَطَايَايَ

wa kathrati sayyi'ati wa khatayaya

my numerous misdeeds and faults,

وَمَا تَعْرِفُهُ مِنِّي

wa ma ta`rifuhu minni

and whatsoever You know about me;

مُسْتَجِيراً بِعَفْوِكَ

mustajiran bi`afwika

taking shelter in Your amnesty,

مُسْتَعِيذاً بِحِلْمِكَ

musta`idhan bihilmika

seeking refuge of Your forbearance,

رَاجِياً رَحْمَتَكَ

rajiyan rahmataka

hoping for Your mercy,

لاَجِئاً إِلَىٰ رُكْنِكَ

laji'an ila ruknika

resorting to Your asylum,

عَائِذاً بِرَأْفَتِكَ

`a'idhan bira'fatika

seeking the protection of Your compassion,

مُسْتَشْفِعاً بِوَلِيِّكَ وَٱبْنِ أَوْلِيَائِكَ

mustashfi`an biwaliyyika wabni awliya'ika

seeking the intercession of Your vicegerent and the son

وَصَفِيِّكَ وَٱبْنِ أَصْفِيَائِكَ

wa safiyyika wsbni asfiya'ika

Your choicest servant and the son of Your choicest servants,

وَأَمِينِكَ وَٱبْنِ أُمَنَائِكَ

wa aminika wabni umana'ika

Your trustee and the son of Your trustees,

وَخَلِيفَتِكَ وَٱبْنِ خُلَفَائِكَ

wa khalifatika wabni khulafa'ika

and Your representative and the son of Your representatives,

ٱلَّذِينَ جَعَلْتَهُمُ ٱلْوَسِيلَةَ إِلَىٰ رَحْمَتِكَ وَرِضْوَانِكَ

alladhina ja`altahum alwasilata ila rahmatika wa ridwanika

whom You have made the means to approach Your mercy and pleasure

وَٱلذَّرِيعَةَ إِلَىٰ رَأْفَتِكَ وَغُفْرَانِكَ

waldhdhari`ata ila ra'fatika wa ghufranika

and the channels to Your compassion and forgiveness.

اَللَّهُمَّ وَأَوَّلُ حَاجَتِي إِلَيْكَ

allahumma wa awwalu hajati ilayka

O Allah, my first need from You

أَنْ تَغْفِرَ لِي مَا سَلَفَ مِنْ ذُنُوبِي عَلَىٰ كَثْرَتِهَا

an taghfira li ma salafa min dhunubi `ala kathratiha

is that I implore You to forgive all of my previous sins although they are numerous,

وَأَنْ تَعْصِمَنِي فِيمَا بَقِيَ مِنْ عُمْرِي

wa an ta`simani fima baqiya min `umri

to protect me (against sinning) in my coming lifetime,

وَتُطَهِّرَ دِينِي مِمَّا يُدَنِّسُهُ

wa tutahhira dini mimma yudannisuhu

to purify my religion from whatsoever stains,

وَيَشِينُهُ وَيُزْرِي بِهِ

wa yashinuhu wa yuzri bihi

disgraces, or degrades it,

وَتَحْمِيَهُ مِنَ ٱلرَّيْبِ وَٱلشَّكِّ

wa tahmiyahu min alrraybi walshshakki

to save it from suspect, doubt,

وَٱلْفَسَادِ وَٱلشِّرْكِ

walfasadi walshshirki

corruption, and blasphemy,

وَتُثَبِّتَنِي عَلَىٰ طَاعَتِكَ

wa tuthabbitani `ala ta`atika

to make me stand firm on the obedience to You,

وَطَاعَةِ رَسُولِكَ

wa ta`ati rasulika

to Your Messenger,

وَذُرِّيَّتِهِ ٱلنُّجَبَاءِ ٱلسُّعَدَاءِ

wa dhurriyyatihi alnnujaba'i alssu`ada'i

and to his Progeny the pure and happy,

صَلَوَاتُكَ عَلَيْهِمْ

salawatuka `alayhim

may Your blessings be upon them

وَرَحْمَتُكَ وَسَلاَمُكَ وَبَرَكَاتُكَ

wa rahmatuka wa salamuka wa barakatuka

as well as Your mercy, peace, and favors,

وَتُحْيِيَنِي مَا أَحْيَيْتَنِي عَلَىٰ طَاعَتِهِمْ

wa tuhyiyani ma ahyaytani `ala ta`atihim

to make me live as long as You grant me life on the obedience to them,

وَتُمِيتَنِي إِذَا أَمَتَّنِي عَلَىٰ طَاعَتِهِمْ

wa tumitani idha amattani `ala ta`atihim

to make me die, when You decide so, on the obedience to them,

وَأَنْ لاَ تَمْحُوَ مِنْ قَلْبِي مَوَدَّتَهُمْ وَمَحَبَّتَهُمْ

wa an la tamhuwa min qalbi mawaddatahum wa mahabbatahum

and not to erase from my heart my love and affection for them,

وَبُغْضَ أَعْدَائِهِمْ

wa bughda a`da'ihim

my aversion to their enemies,

وَمُرَافَقَةَ أَوْلِيَائِهِمْ وَبِرَّهُمْ

wa murafaqata awliya'ihim wa birrahum

my companionship of their adherents, and my acting piously towards them.

وَأَسْأَلُكَ يَا رَبِّ أَنْ تَقْبَلَ ذٰلِكَ مِنِّي

wa as'aluka ya rabbi an taqbala dhalika minni

I also beseech You, O my Lord, to accept all that from me,

وَتُحَبِّبَ إِلَيَّ عِبَادَتَكَ

wa tuhabbiba ilayya `ibadataka

to endear my worshipping You to myself,

وَٱلْمُوَاظَبَةَ عَلَيْهَا

walmuwazabata `alayha

to endue me with perseverance in worship,

وَتُنَشِّطَنِي لَهَا

wa tunashshitani laha

to make me active in it,

وَتُبَغِّضَ إِلَيَّ مَعَاصِيَكَ وَمَحَارِمَكَ

wa tubaghghida ilayya ma`asiyaka wa maharimaka

to make me loathe acts of disobedience to You and acts that You deemed forbidden,

وَتَدْفَعَنِي عَنْهَا

wa tadfa`ani `anha

to take me away from these acts,

وَتُجَنِّبَنِي ٱلتَّقْصِيرَ فِي صَلَوَاتِي

wa tujannbani alttaqsira fi salawati

to save me against negligence of my prayers,

وَٱلْٱِسْتِهَانَةَ بِهَا

walistihanata biha

belittling them,

وَٱلتَّرَاخِيَ عَنْهَا

walttarakhiya `anha

and slackening in their performance,

وَتُوَفِّقَنِي لِتَأْدِيَتِهَا كَمَا فَرَضْتَ وَأَمَرْتَ بِهِ

wa tuwaffiqani lita'diyatiha kama faradta wa amarta bihi

to lead me to perform them as perfect as You have made incumbent upon me and as You have commanded

عَلَىٰ سُنَّةِ رَسُولِكَ

`ala sunnati rasulika

according to the traditions of Your Messenger,

صَلَوَاتُكَ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ

salawatuka `alayhi wa alihi

may Your blessings be upon him and his Household

وَرَحْمَتُكَ وَبَرَكَاتُكَ

wa rahmatuka wa barakatuka

as well as Your mercy and favors,

خُضُوعاً وَخُشُوعاً

khudu`an wa khushu`an

with submission and reverence,

وَتَشْرَحَ صَدْرِي لِإِيتَاءِ ٱلزَّكَاةِ

wa tashraha sadri li'ita'i alzzakati

to expand my breast for defraying the poor-rate,

وَإِعْطَاءِ ٱلصَّدَقَاتِ

wa i`ta'i alssadaqati

giving alms,

وَبَذْلِ ٱلْمَعْرُوفِ

wa badhli alma`rufi

giving charity,

وَٱلْإِحْسَانِ إِلَىٰ شِيعَةِ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

wal-ihsani ila shi`ati ali muhammadin

and doing favors to the adherents of the Household of Muhammad,

عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلسَّلاَمُ وَمُوَاسَاتِهِمْ

`alayhim alssalamu wa muwasatihim

peace be upon them, and for consoling them.

وَلاَ تَتَوَفَّانِي إِلاَّ بَعْدَ أَنْ تَرْزُقَنِي حِجَّ بَيْتِكَ ٱلْحَرَامِ

wa la tatawaffani illa ba`da an tarzuqani hajja baytika alharami

Do not take me up (i.e. cause me to die) before You bestow upon me with the favor of going on pilgrimage to Your Sacred House

وَزِيَارَةَ قَبْرِ نَبِيِّكَ

wa ziyarata qabri nabiyyika

and to the tomb of Your Prophet

وَقُبُورِ ٱلأَئِمَّةِ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلسَّلاَمُ

wa quburi al-a'immati `alayhim alssalamu

and the tombs of the Imams, peace be upon them.

وَأَسْأَلُكَ يَا رَبِّ تَوْبَةً نَصُوحاً تَرْضَاهَا

wa as'aluka ya rabbi tawbatan nasuhan tardaha

I also beseech You, O Lord, to grant me a sincere repentance that You accept,

وَنِيَّةً تَحْمَدُهَا

wa niyyatan tahmaduha

an intention that You praise,

وَعَمَلاً صَالِحاً تَقْبَلُهُ

wa `amalan salihan taqbaluhu

and righteous deed that You admit,

وَأَنْ تَغْفِرَ لِي وَتَرْحَمَنِي إِذَا تَوَفَّيْتَنِي

wa an taghfira li wa tarhamani idha tawaffaytani

to forgive me and have mercy upon me when You take me up,

وَتُهَوِّنَ عَلَيَّ سَكَرَاتِ ٱلْمَوْتِ

wa tuhawwina `alayya sakarati almawti

to make easy for me the agonies of death,

وَتَحْشُرَنِي فِي زُمْرَةِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِهِ

wa tahshurani fi zumrati muhammadin wa alihi

to include me with the group of Muhammad and his Household,

صَلَوَاتُ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَيْهِمْ

salawatu allahi `alayhi wa `alayhim

peace of Allah be upon him and them,

وَتُدْخِلَنِي ٱلْجَنَّةَ بِرَحْمَتِكَ

wa tudkhilani aljannata birahmatika

to allow me to enter Paradise out of Your mercy,

وَتَجْعَلَ دَمْعِي غَزِيراً فِي طَاعَتِكَ

wa taj`ala dam`i ghaziran fi ta`atika

to make me shed heavy tears as obeisance to You,

وَعَبْرَتِي جَارِيَةً فِيمَا يُقَرِّبُنِي مِنْكَ

wa `abrati jariyatan fima yuqarribuni minka

to make my tears always run down in acts that draw me near You,

وَقَلْبِي عَطُوفاً عَلَىٰ أَوْلِيَائِكَ

wa qalbi `atufan `ala awliya'ika

to make my heart sympathetic towards Your intimate servants,

وَتَصُونَنِي فِي هٰذِهِ ٱلدُّنْيَا

wa tasunani fi hadhihi alddunya

to save me in this worldly life

مِنَ ٱلْعَاهَاتِ وَٱلآفَاتِ

min al`ahati wal-afati

from handicaps, epidemics,

وَٱلْأَمْرَاضِ ٱلشَّدِيدَةِ

wal-amradi alshshadidati

incurable diseases,

وَٱلْأَسْقَامِ ٱلْمُزْمِنَةِ

wal-asqami almuzminati

chronic illnesses,

وَجَمِيعِ أَنْوَاعِ ٱلْبَلاَءِ وَٱلْحَوَادِثِ

wa jami`i anwa`i albala'i walhawadithi

and all sorts of misfortunes and catastrophes.

وَتَصْرِفَ قَلْبِي عَنِ ٱلْحَرَامِ

wa tasrifa qalbi `an alharami

[I also beseech You to] cause my heart to turn away from the forbidden (acts and things),

وَتُبَغِّضَ إِلَيَّ مَعَاصِيَكَ

wa tubaghghida ilayya ma`asiyaka

make me hate acts of disobedience to You,

وَتُحَبِّبَ إِلَيَّ الْحَلاَلَ

wa tuhabbiba ilayya alhalala

make me love the legally gotten sustenance

وَتَفْتَحَ لِي أَبْوَابَهُ

wa taftaha li abwabahu

open its doors before me,

وَتُثَبِّتَ نِيَّتِي وَفِعْلِي عَلَيْهِ

wa tuthabbita niyyati wa fi`li `alayhi

make firm my intention and my deeds on it,

وَتَمُدَّ فِي عُمْرِي

wa tamudda fi `umri

extend my lifetime,

وَتُغْلِقَ أَبْوَابَ ٱلْمِحَنِ عَنِّي

wa tughliqa abwaba almihani `anni

and close the doors of adversaries before me.

وَلاَ تَسْلُبَنِي مَا مَنَنْتَ بِهِ عَلَيَّ

wa la taslubani ma mananta bihi `alayya

(Please) do not deprive me of whatsoever You have favored upon me,

وَلاَ تَسْتَرِدَّ شَيْئًا مِمَّا أَحْسَنْتَ بِهِ إِلَيَّ

wa la tastaridda shay'an mimma ahsanta bihi ilayya

do not take back from me the graces that You have granted me,

وَلاَ تَنْزِعَ مِنِّي ٱلنِّعَمَ ٱلَّتِي أَنْعَمْتَ بِهَا عَلَيَّ

wa la tanzi` minniya alnni`ama allati an`amta biha `alayya

do not strip me of the elegances that You have conferred upon me;

وَتَزِيدَ فِيمَا خَوَّلْتَنِي

wa tazida fima khawwaltani

[rather, please] increase that which You have authorized me to possess,

وَتُضَاعِفَهُ أَضْعَافاً مُضَاعَفَةً

wa tuda`ifahu ad`afan muda`afatan

expand it many folds for me,

وَتَرْزُقَنِي مَالاً كَثِيراً

wa tarzuqani malan kathiran

and provide me with fortune that is very much,

وَاسِعاً سَائِغاً

wasi`an sa'ighan

spacious, agreeable,

هَنِيئاً نَامِياً وَافِياً

hani'an namiyan wafiyan

joyful, growing, and satisfactory,

وَعِزّاً بَاقِياً كَافِياً

wa `izzan baqiyan kafiyan

and with dignity that is everlasting and sufficient,

وَجَاهاً عَرِيضاً مَنِيعاً

wa jahan `aridan mani`an

and with prestige that is outgoing and overwhelming,

وَنِعْمَةً سَابِغَةً عَامَّةً

wa ni`matan sabighatan `ammatan

and with bounty that is flowing and broad.

وَتُغْنِيَنِي بِذٰلِكَ عَنِ ٱلْمَطَالِبِ ٱلْمُنَكَّدَةِ

wa tughniyani bidhalika `an almatalibi almunakkadati

Through all that, (please) make me dispense with the humiliating appeals

وَٱلْمَوَارِدِ ٱلصَّعْبَةِ

walmawaridi alssa`bati

and unreachable sources,

وَتُخَلِّصَنِي مِنْهَا مُعَافىًٰ

wa tukhallisani minha mu`afan

save me from them with good health

فِي دِينِي وَنَفْسِي وَوَلَدِي

fi dini wa nafsi wa waladi

as regards my religion, self, sons,

وَمَا أَعْطَيْتَنِي وَمَنَحْتَنِي

wa ma a`taytani wa manahtani

and whatsoever You have given and granted me,

وَتَحْفَظَ عَلَيَّ مَالِي

wa tahfaza `alayya mali

preserve for me my properties

وَجَمِيعَ مَا خَوَّلْتَنِي

wa jami`a ma khawwaltani

and whatsoever You have put under my disposal,

وَتَقْبِضَ عَنِّي أَيْدِيَ ٱلْجَبَابِرَةِ

wa taqbida `anni aydiya aljababirati

watch me against the hands of the tyrants,

وَتَرُدَّنِي إِلَىٰ وَطَنِي

wa taruddani ila watani

take me back to my homeland (safely),

وَتُبَلِّغَنِي نِهَايَةَ أَمَلِي فِي دُنْيَايَ وَآخِرَتِي

wa tuballighani nihayata amali fi dunyaya wa akhirati

confer upon me the utmost of my hope in my worldly life and the Hereafter,

وَتَجْعَلَ عَاقِبَةَ أَمْرِي مَحْمُودَةً حَسَنَةً سَلِيمَةً

wa taj`ala `aqibata amri mahmudatan hasanatan salimatan

make the consequence of my conducts praiseworthy, good, and sound,

وَتَجْعَلَنِي رَحِيبَ ٱلصَّدْرِ

wa taj`alani rahiba alssadri

make me broadminded,

وَاسِعَ ٱلْحَالِ

wasi`a alhali

well-off,

حَسَنَ ٱلْخُلُقِ

hasana alkhuluqi

and well-mannered,

بَعِيداً مِنَ ٱلْبُخْلِ وَٱلْمَنْعِ

ba`idan min albukhli walman`i

[and take me] away from miserliness, stinginess.

وَٱلنِّفَاقِ وَٱلْكِذْبِ

walnnifaqi walkidhbi

hypocrisy, fabrication,

وَٱلْبَهْتِ وَقَوْلِ ٱلزُّورِ

walbahti wa qawli alzzuri

slander, and perjury.

وَتُرْسِخَ فِي قَلْبِي مَحَبَّةَ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَشِيعَتِهِمْ

wa tursikha fi qalbi mahabbata muhammadin wa ali muhammadin wa shi`atihim

[Please] make firm in my heart the love for Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad and their adherents (Shi`ah).

وَتَحْرُسَنِي يَا رَبِّ فِي نَفْسِي وَأَهْلِي

wa tahrusani ya rabbi fi nafsi wa ahli

O Lord, guard me, my family,

وَمَالِي وَوَلَدِي

wa mali wa waladi

my properties, my sons,

وَأَهْلِ حُزَانَتِي وَإِخْوَانِي

wa ahli huzanati wa ikhwani

those who are under my custody, my brothers,

وَأَهْلِ مَوَدَّتِي وَذُرِّيَّتِي

wa ahli mawaddati wa dhurriyyati

those whom I love, and my offspring

بِرَحْمَتِكَ وَجُودِكَ

birahmatika wa judika

in the name of Your mercy and Magnanimity.

اَللَّهُمَّ هٰذِهِ حَاجَاتِي عِنْدَكَ

allahumma hadhihi hajati `indaka

O Allah, these are my needs from You.

وَقَدِ ٱسْتَكْثَرْتُهَا لِلُؤْمِي وَشُحِّي

wa qad istakthartuha lilu'mi wa shuhhi

Out of my meanness and avarice, I have considered these needs great,

وَهِيَ عِنْدَكَ صَغِيرَةٌ حَقِيرَةٌ

wa hiya `indaka saghiratun haqiratun

while in Your view the are insignificantly small

وَعَلَيْكَ سَهْلَةٌ يَسِيرَةٌ

wa `alayka sahlatun yasiratun

and they are easy and effortless for You.

فَأَسْأَلُكَ بِجَاهِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

fa'as'aluka bijahi muhammadin wa ali muhammadin

I thus beseech You in the name of the standing of Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad,

عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَيْهِمُ ٱلسَّلاَمُ عِنْدَكَ

`alayhi wa `alayhim alssalamu `indaka

peace be upon him and them, in Your view,

وَبِحَقِّهِمْ عَلَيْكَ

wa bihaqqihim `alayka

in the name of Your duty towards You,

وَبِمَا أَوْجَبْتَ لَهُمْ

wa bima awjabta lahum

in the name of what You have made incumbent upon Yourself towards them,

وَبِسَائِرِ أَنْبِيَائِكَ وَرُسُلِكَ

wa bisa'iri anbiya'ika wa rusulika

in the name of Your other Prophets and Messengers,

وَأَصْفِيَائِكَ وَأَوْلِيَائِكَ

wa asfiya'ika wa awliya'ika

in the name of Your choicest ones and intimate servants

ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ مِنْ عِبَادِكَ

almukhlasina min `ibadika

whom You have selected over others for worshipping You,

وَبِٱسْمِكَ ٱلْأَعْظَمِ ٱلْأَعْظَمِ

wa bismika al-a`zami al-a`zami

and in the name of Your Grand, Substantial Name,

لَمَّا قَضَيْتَهَا كُلَّهَا

lamma qadaytaha kullaha

(I beseech You by all these) to grant me all of my requests,

وَأَسْعَفْتَنِي بِهَا

wa as`aftani biha

to relieve me through settling them for me,

وَلَمْ تُخَيِّبْ أَمَلِي وَرَجَائِي

wa lam tukhayyib amali wa raja'i

and not to disappoint nor let me down.

اَللَّهُمَّ وَشَفِّعْ صَاحِبَ هٰذَا ٱلْقَبْرِ فِيَّ

allahumma wa shaffi` sahiba hadha alqabri fiyya

O Allah, (please) accept the one in this tomb as my interceder before You.

يَا سَيِّدِي يَا وَلِيَّ ٱللَّهِ يَا أَمِينَ ٱللَّهِ

ya sayyidi ya waliyya allahi ya amina allahi

O my Master! O Allah’s vicegerent! O Allah’s trustee!

أَسْأَلُكَ أَنْ تَشْفَعَ لِي إِلَىٰ ٱللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ

as'aluka an tashfa`a li ila allahi `azza wa jalla

I beseech you to intercede for me before Allah the Almighty and All-majestic

فِي هٰذِهِ ٱلْحَاجَاتِ كُلِّهَا

fi hadhihi alhajati kulliha

so that He may approve of and grant me all of my requests

بِحَقِّ آبَائِكَ ٱلطَّاهِرِينَ

bihaqqi aba'ika alttahirina

in the name of Your Immaculate fathers

وَبِحَقِّ أَوْلاَدِكَ ٱلْمُنْتَجَبِينَ

wa bihaqqi awladika almuntajabina

and in the name of Your well-selected sons.

فَإِنَّ لَكَ عِنْدَ ٱللَّهِ تَقَدَّسَتْ أَسْمَاؤُهُ

fa'inna laka `inda allahi taqaddasat asma'uhu

Verily, you enjoy in the view of Allah, sacred be His Names,

ٱلْمَنْزِلَةَ ٱلشَّرِيفَةَ

almanzilata alshsharifata

an honorable standing,

وَٱلْمَرْتَبَةَ ٱلْجَلِيلَةَ

walmartabata aljalilata

a lofty rank,

وَٱلْجَاهَ ٱلْعَرِيضَ

waljaha al`arida

and a spacious regard.

اَللَّهُمَّ لَوْ عَرَفْتُ مَنْ هُوَ أَوْجَهُ عِنْدَكَ

allahumma law `araftu man huwa awjahu `indaka

O Allah, had I known a person more acceptable in Your view

مِنْ هٰذَا ٱلإِمَامِ

min hadha al-imami

than this Imam

وَمِنْ آبَاءِهِ وَأَبْنَاءِهِ ٱلطَّاهِرِينَ

wa min aba'ihi wa abna'ihi alttahirina

and his immaculate fathers and sons,

عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلسَّلاَمُ وَٱلصَّلاَةُ

`alayhim alssalamu walssalatu

peace and blessings be upon them,

لَجَعَلْتُهُمْ شُفَعَائِي

laja`altuhum shufa`a'i

I would have chosen them to be my interceders (before You)

وَقَدَّمْتُهُمْ أَمَامَ حَاجَتِي وَطَلِبَاتِي هٰذِهِ

wa qaddamtuhum amama hajati wa talibati hadhihi

and I would have introduced them as means by whom I would put before You my needs and requests.

فَٱسْمَعْ مِنِّي

fasma` minni

Therefore, (please) hear from me,

وَٱسْتَجِبْ لِي

wastajib li

respond to me,

وَٱفْعَلْ بِي مَا أَنْتَ أَهْلُهُ

waf`al bi ma anta ahluhu

and do to me that which You alone are worthy to do.

يَا أَرْحَمَ ٱلرَّاحِمِينَ

ya arhama alrrahimina

O most merciful of all those who show mercy.

اَللَّهُمَّ وَمَا قَصُرَتْ عَنْهُ مَسْأَلَتِي

allahumma wa ma qasurat `anhu mas'alati

O Allah, as regards the needs that my requests have not included,

وَعَجَزَتْ عَنْهُ قُوَّتِي

wa `ajazat `anhu quwwati

the things that I am too powerless to do,

وَلَمْ تَبْلُغْهُ فِطْنَتِي

wa lam tablughhu fitnati

and the things that I am not too clever to mention,

مِنْ صَالِحِ دِينِي وَدُنْيَايَ وَآخِرَتِي

min salihi dini wa dunyaya wa akhirati

among the things that prosper my religion, worldly life, and next life;

فَٱمْنُنْ بِهِ عَلَيَّ

famnun bihi `alayya

(please) confer upon me with these,

وَٱحْفَظْنِي وَٱحْرُسْنِي

wahfazni wahrusni

protect me, guard me,

وَهَبْ لِي وَٱغْفِرْ لِي

wa hab li waghfir li

bestow upon me (with Your favors), and forgive me.

وَمَنْ أَرَادَنِي بِسُوءٍ أَوْ مَكْرُوهٍ

wa man aradani bisu'in aw makruhin

As for any one who intends evil or wickedness to me,

مِنْ شَيْطَانٍ مَرِيدٍ

min shaytanin maridin

such as a rebellious devil,

أَوْ سُلْطَانٍ عَنِيدٍ

aw sultanin `anidin

a tyrant ruler,

أَوْ مُخَالِفٍ فِي دِينٍ

aw mukhalifin fi dinin

a dissident miscreant,

أَوْ مُنَازِعٍ فِي دُنْيَا

aw munazi`in fi dunya

a rival in a worldly affair,

أَوْ حَاسِدٍ عَلَيَّ نِعْمَةً

aw hasidin `alayya ni`matan

one who envies me for a grace,

أَوْ ظَالِمٍ أَوْ بَاغٍ

aw zalimin aw baghin

an unjust individual, or a despot;

فَٱقْبِضْ عَنِّي يَدَهُ

faqbid `anni yadahu

then (please) make their hands too short to catch me,

وَٱصْرِفْ عَنِّي كَيْدَهُ

wasrif `anni kaydahu

take away their plots against me,

وَٱشْغَلْهُ عَنِّي بِنَفْسِهِ

washghalhu `anni binafsihi

preoccupy them against me with their own affairs,

وَٱكْفِنِي شَرَّهُ

wakfini sharrahu

save me from their evils

وَشَرَّ أَتْبَاعِهِ وَشَيَاطِينِهِ

wa sharra atba`ihi wa shayatinihi

and the evils of their followers and devils,

وَأَجِرْنِي مِنْ كُلِّ مَا يَضُرُّنِي وَيُجْحِفُ بِي

wa ajirni min kulli ma yadurruni wa yujhifu bi

stand by me against whatsoever may harm and do injustice to me,

وَأَعْطِنِي جَمِيعَ ٱلْخَيْرِ كُلِّهِ

wa a`tini jami`a alkhayri kullihi

and (please) grant me the entire goodness

مِمَّا أَعْلَمُ وَمِمَّا لاَ أَعْلَمُ

mimma a`lamu wa mimma la a`lamu

whether I know or I do not.

اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

allahumma salli `ala muhammadin wa ali muhammadin

O Allah, bless Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad

وَٱغْفِرْ لِي وَلِوَالِدَيَّ

waghfir li wa liwalidayya

and forgive me, my parents,

وَ لِإِخْوَانِي وَأَخَوَاتِي

wa li'ikhwani wa akhawati

my brothers, my sisters,

وَأَعْمَامِي وَعَمَّاتِي

wa a`mami wa `ammati

my (paternal) uncles, my (paternal) aunts,

وَأَخْوَالِي وَخَالاَتِي

wa akhwali wa khalati

my (maternal) uncles, my (maternal) aunts,

وَأَجْدَادِي وَجَدَّاتِي

wa ajdadi wa jaddati

my forefathers, my foremothers,

وَأَوْلاَدِهِمْ وَذَرَارِيهِمْ

wa awladihim wa dhararihim

their descendants, their offspring,

وَأَزْوَاجِي وَذُرِّيَاتِي

wa azwaji wa dhurriyyati

my spouse(s), my offspring,

وَأَقْرِبَائِي وَأَصْدِقَائِي

wa aqriba'i wa asdiqa'i

my relatives, my friends,

وَجِيرَانِي وَإِخْوَانِي فِيكَ

wa jirani wa ikhwani fika

my neighbors, my brothers-in-faith

مِنْ أَهْلِ ٱلشَّرْقِ وَٱلْغَرْبِ

min ahli alshsharqi walgharbi

from the people of the east and the west (of the earth),

وَلِجَمِيعِ أَهْلِ مَوَدَّتِي

wa lijami`i ahli mawaddati

all those whom I love

مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَاتِ

min almu'minina walmu'minati

among the believing men and women,

ٱلْأَحْيَاءِ مِنْهُمْ وَٱلْأَمْوَاتِ

al-ahya'i minhum wal-amwati

be they alive or dead,

وَلِجَمِيعِ مَنْ عَلَّمَنِي خَيْراً

wa lijami`i man `allamani khayran

all those who have ever taught me an item of decency,

أَوْ تَعَلَّمَ مِنِّي عِلْماً

aw ta`allama minni `ilman

and those who have received from me an item of knowledge.

اَللَّهُمَّ أَشْرِكْهُمْ فِي صَالِحِ دُعَائِي

allahumma ashrik-hum fi salihi du`a'i

O Allah, make all these have a share in my best supplications to You

وَزِيَارَتِي لِمَشْهَدِ حُجَّتِكَ وَوَلِيِّكَ

wa ziyarati limashhadi hujjatika wa waliyyika

and in my (ritual) pilgrimages to the shrine of Your Argument and Your vicegerent;

وَأَشْرِكْنِي فِي صَالِحِ أَدْعِيَتِهِمْ

wa ashrikni fi salihi ad`iyatihim

make me have a share in the best of their supplications,

بِرَحْمَتِكَ يَا أَرْحَمَ ٱلرَّاحِمِينَ

birahmatika ya arhama alrrahimina

in the name of Your mercy, O most merciful of all those who show mercy.

وَبَلِّغْ وَلِيَّكَ مِنْهُمُ ٱلسَّلاَمَ

wa balligh waliyyaka minhum alssalama

Convey their greetings to Your vicegerent.

وَٱلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ وَرَحْمَةُ ٱللَّهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ

wa alssalamu `alayka wa rahmatu allahi wa barakatuhu

Peace and Allah's mercy and blessings be upon you.

يَا سَيِّدِي يَا مَوْلاَيَ، يَا فُلان بن فُلان

ya sayyidi ya mawlaya ya…

O my master, O my leader; O…

صَلَّىٰ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْكَ

salla allahu `alayka

may Allah bless you,

وَعَلَىٰ رُوحِكَ وَبَدَنِكَ

wa `ala ruhika wa badanika

your soul, and your body;

أَنْتَ وَسِيلَتِي إِلَىٰ ٱللَّهِ

anta wasilati ila allahi

you are my means to approach Allah

وَذَرِيعَتِي إِلَيْهِ

wa dhari`ati ilayhi

and my way towards Him;

وَلِي حَقُّ مُوَالاَتِي وَتَأْمِيلِي

wa li haqqu muwalati wa ta'mili

and I enjoy the right of my loyalty to you and the right of my putting my entire hope in you;

فَكُنْ شَفِيعِي إِلَىٰ ٱللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ

fakun shafi`i ila allahi `azza wa jalla

therefore, be my interceder before Allah the Almighty and All-majestic

فِي ٱلْوُقُوفِ عَلَىٰ قِصَّتِي هٰذِهِ

fi alwuqufi `ala qissati hadhihi

so that He shall regard my story (that I have just told)

وَصَرْفِي عَنْ مَوْقِفِي هٰذَا بِٱلنُّجْحِ

wa sarfi `an mawqifi hadha bilnnujhi

and so that He shall decide success to be the result of all of my requests in this situation of mine

بِمَا سَأَلْتُهُ كُلِّهِ بِرَحْمَتِهِ وَقُدْرَتِهِ

bima sa'altuhu kullihi birahmatihi wa qudratihi

that I have besought from Him, out of His mercy and omnipotence.

اَللَّهُمَّ ٱرْزُقْنِي عَقْلاً كَامِلاً

allahumma irzuqni `aqlan kamilan

O Allah, (please) bestow upon me a perfect intellectuality,

وَلُبّاً رَاجِحاً

wa lubban rajihan

a sagacious reason,

وَعِزّاً بَاقِياً

wa `izzan baqiyan

an everlasting might,

وَقَلْباً زَكِيّاً

wa qalban zakiyyan

a pure heart,

وَعَمَلاً كَثِيراً

wa `amalan kathiran

a very much deed,

وَأَدَباً بَارِعاً

wa adaban bari`an

and excellent manners;

وَٱجْعَلْ ذٰلِكَ كُلَّهُ لِي

waj`al dhalika kullahu li

decide all these to be for my good,

وَلاَ تَجْعَلْهُ عَلَيَّ

wa la taj`alhu `alayya

but do not make them stand against me;

بِرَحْمَتِكَ يَا أَرْحَمَ ٱلرَّاحِمِينَ

birahmatika ya arhama alrrahimina

in the name of Your mercy, O most merciful of all those who show mercy.
