Ziyarat of Sayyida Fatima al-Zahra (s.a.)

يَا مُمْتَحَنَةُ امْتَحَنَكِ اللّٰهُ الَّذِي خَلَقَكِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَخْلُقَكِ فَوَجَدَكِ لِمَا امْتَحَنَكِ صَابِرَةً

Ya mumtahanatu imtahanaki Allahu alladhi khalaqaki qabla an yakhluqaki, fa-wajadaki lima imtahanaki sabira

O tested one, Allah Who created you tested you even before He brought you into being, and He found you patient under that with which He tested you.

وَزَعَمْنَا أَنَّا لَكِ أَوْلِيَاءٌ وَمُصَدِّقُونَ وَصَابِرُونَ لِكُلِّ مَا أَتَانَا بِهِ أَبُوكِ صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ

Wa za'amna anna laki awliya'u wa musaddiquna wa sabiruna li-kulli ma atana bihi abuki salla Allahu 'alayhi wa alihi

And we claim that we are your devoted followers, attesting to your truth, and patient with all that your father (peace be upon him and his family) brought to us,

وَأَتَىٰ بِهِ وَصِيُّهُ

Wa ata bihi wasiyyuhu

and that which his successor brought.

فَإِنَّا نَسْأَلُكِ إِنْ كُنَّا صَدَّقْنَاكِ إِلَّا أَلْحَقْتِنَا بِتَصْدِيقِنَا لَهُمَا لِنُبَشِّرَ أَنْفُسَنَا بِأَنَّا قَدْ طَهُرْنَا بِوِلَايَتِكِ

Fa-inna nas'aluki in kunna saddaqnaki illa alhaqtina bi-tasdiqina lahuma li-nubashshira anfusana bi-anna qad tahurna bi-wilayatiki

We beseech you — if we have indeed attested to your truth — to join us, by virtue of our affirmation of them both, so that we may bring glad tidings to ourselves that we have been purified through devotion to you.

السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكِ يَا بِنْتَ رَسُولِ اللّٰهِ

As-salamu 'alayki ya binta Rasuli Allah

Peace be upon you, O daughter of the Messenger of Allah.

السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكِ يَا بِنْتَ نَبِيِّ اللّٰهِ

As-salamu 'alayki ya binta Nabiyyi Allah

Peace be upon you, O daughter of the Prophet of Allah.

السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكِ يَا بِنْتَ حَبِيبِ اللّٰهِ

As-salamu 'alayki ya binta Habibi Allah

Peace be upon you, O daughter of the Beloved of Allah.

السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكِ يَا بِنْتَ خَلِيلِ اللّٰهِ

As-salamu 'alayki ya binta Khalili Allah

Peace be upon you, O daughter of the Friend of Allah.

السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكِ يَا بِنْتَ صَفِيِّ اللّٰهِ

As-salamu 'alayki ya binta Safiyyi Allah

Peace be upon you, O daughter of the Chosen One of Allah.

السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكِ يَا بِنْتَ أَمِينِ اللّٰهِ

As-salamu 'alayki ya binta Amini Allah

Peace be upon you, O daughter of the Trustee of Allah.

السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكِ يَا بِنْتَ خَيْرِ خَلْقِ اللّٰهِ

As-salamu 'alayki ya binta khayri khalqi Allah

Peace be upon you, O daughter of the best of Allah's creation.

السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكِ يَا بِنْتَ أَفْضَلِ أَنْبِيَاءِ اللّٰهِ وَرُسُلِهِ وَمَلَائِكَتِهِ

As-salamu 'alayki ya binta afdali anbiya'i Allahi wa rusulihi wa mala'ikatihi

Peace be upon you, O daughter of the most excellent of Allah's prophets, messengers, and angels.

السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكِ يَا بِنْتَ خَيْرِ الْبَرِيَّةِ

As-salamu 'alayki ya binta khayri al-bariyya

Peace be upon you, O daughter of the best of all creation.

السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكِ يَا سَيِّدَةَ نِسَاءِ الْعَالَمِينَ مِنَ الْأَوَّلِينَ وَالْآخِرِينَ

As-salamu 'alayki ya sayyidata nisa'i al-'alamina mina al-awwalina wa al-akhirin

Peace be upon you, O Mistress of the women of all the worlds, of the first and the last.

السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكِ يَا زَوْجَةَ وَلِيِّ اللّٰهِ وَخَيْرِ الْخَلْقِ بَعْدَ رَسُولِ اللّٰهِ

As-salamu 'alayki ya zawjata waliyyi Allahi wa khayri al-khalqi ba'da Rasuli Allah

Peace be upon you, O wife of the Friend of Allah and the best of creation after the Messenger of Allah.

السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكِ يَا أُمَّ الْحَسَنِ وَالْحُسَيْنِ سَيِّدَيْ شَبَابِ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ

As-salamu 'alayki ya umma al-Hasani wa al-Husayni sayyiday shababi ahli al-jannah

Peace be upon you, O mother of al-Hasan and al-Husayn, the two masters of the youth of the people of Paradise.

السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكِ أَيَّتُهَا الصِّدِّيقَةُ الشَّهِيدَةُ

As-salamu 'alayki ayyatuha as-siddiqatu ash-shahida

Peace be upon you, O most truthful one, the martyr.

السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكِ أَيَّتُهَا الرَّضِيَّةُ الْمَرْضِيَّةُ

As-salamu 'alayki ayyatuha ar-radiyyatu al-mardiyya

Peace be upon you, O contented one, well-pleasing (to Allah).

السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكِ أَيَّتُهَا الْفَاضِلَةُ الزَّكِيَّةُ

As-salamu 'alayki ayyatuha al-fadilatu az-zakiyya

Peace be upon you, O most virtuous and pure one.

السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكِ أَيَّتُهَا الْحَوْرَاءُ الْإِنْسِيَّةُ

As-salamu 'alayki ayyatuha al-hawra'u al-insiyya

Peace be upon you, O Houri in human form.

السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكِ أَيَّتُهَا التَّقِيَّةُ النَّقِيَّةُ

As-salamu 'alayki ayyatuha at-taqiyyatu an-naqiyya

Peace be upon you, O God-fearing and immaculate one.

السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكِ أَيَّتُهَا الْمُحَدَّثَةُ الْعَلِيمَةُ

As-salamu 'alayki ayyatuha al-muhaddathatu al-'alima

Peace be upon you, O one to whom the angels spoke, possessor of knowledge.

السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكِ أَيَّتُهَا الْمَظْلُومَةُ الْمَغْصُوبَةُ

As-salamu 'alayki ayyatuha al-mazlumatu al-maghsuba

Peace be upon you, O wronged one whose right was usurped.

السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكِ أَيَّتُهَا الْمُضْطَهَدَةُ الْمَقْهُورَةُ

As-salamu 'alayki ayyatuha al-mudtahadatu al-maqhura

Peace be upon you, O persecuted and oppressed one.

السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكِ يَا فَاطِمَةُ بِنْتَ رَسُولِ اللّٰهِ وَرَحْمَةُ اللّٰهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ

As-salamu 'alayki ya Fatimatu binta Rasuli Allahi wa rahmatu Allahi wa barakatuhu

Peace be upon you, O Fatima, daughter of the Messenger of Allah, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.

صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْكِ وَعَلَىٰ رُوحِكِ وَبَدَنِكِ

Salla Allahu 'alayki wa 'ala ruhiki wa badaniki

May Allah send blessings upon you, upon your soul and upon your body.

أَشْهَدُ أَنَّكِ مَضَيْتِ عَلَىٰ بَيِّنَةٍ مِنْ رَبِّكِ

Ashhadu annaki madayti 'ala bayyinatin min Rabbiki

I bear witness that you departed (this world) upon clear proof from your Lord,

وَأَنَّ مَنْ سَرَّكِ فَقَدْ سَرَّ رَسُولَ اللّٰهِ صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ

Wa anna man sarraki fa-qad sarra Rasula Allahi salla Allahu 'alayhi wa alihi

and that whoever pleases you has pleased the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family),

وَمَنْ جَفَاكِ فَقَدْ جَفَا رَسُولَ اللّٰهِ صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ

Wa man jafaki fa-qad jafa Rasula Allahi salla Allahu 'alayhi wa alihi

and whoever wronged you has wronged the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family),

وَمَنْ آذَاكِ فَقَدْ آذَىٰ رَسُولَ اللّٰهِ صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ

Wa man adhaki fa-qad adha Rasula Allahi salla Allahu 'alayhi wa alihi

and whoever harmed you has harmed the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family),

وَمَنْ وَصَلَكِ فَقَدْ وَصَلَ رَسُولَ اللّٰهِ صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ

Wa man wasalaki fa-qad wasala Rasula Allahi salla Allahu 'alayhi wa alihi

and whoever maintained ties with you has maintained ties with the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family),

وَمَنْ قَطَعَكِ فَقَدْ قَطَعَ رَسُولَ اللّٰهِ صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ لِأَنَّكِ بِضْعَةٌ مِنْهُ وَرُوحُهُ الَّذِي بَيْنَ جَنْبَيْهِ

Wa man qata'aki fa-qad qata'a Rasula Allahi salla Allahu 'alayhi wa alihi li-annaki bid'atun minhu wa ruhuhu alladhi bayna janbayhi

and whoever severed ties with you has severed ties with the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family) — for you are a part of him and the soul that resides between his sides.

أُشْهِدُ اللّٰهَ وَرُسُلَهُ وَمَلَائِكَتَهُ أَنِّي رَاضٍ عَمَّنْ رَضِيتِ عَنْهُ

Ushhidu Allaha wa rusulahu wa mala'ikatahu anni radin 'amman radiyti 'anhu

I call Allah, His messengers, and His angels to witness that I am pleased with whoever pleased you,

سَاخِطٌ عَلَىٰ مَنْ سَخِطْتِ عَلَيْهِ

Sakhitun 'ala man sakhitti 'alayhi

displeased with whoever displeased you,

مُتَبَرِّئٌ مِمَّنْ تَبَرَّأْتِ مِنْهُ

Mutabarri'un mimman tabarra'ti minhu

disavowing whoever you disavowed,

مُوَالٍ لِمَنْ وَالَيْتِ

Muwalin liman walayti

loyal to whoever you took as a friend,

مُعَادٍ لِمَنْ عَادَيْتِ

Mu'adin liman 'adayti

an enemy to whoever you took as an enemy,

مُبْغِضٌ لِمَنْ أَبْغَضْتِ

Mubghidun liman abghadti

detesting whoever you detested,

مُحِبٌّ لِمَنْ أَحْبَبْتِ

Muhibbun liman ahbabti

loving whoever you loved,

وَكَفَىٰ بِاللّٰهِ شَهِيداً وَحَسِيباً وَجَازِياً وَمُثِيباً

Wa kafa bi-Allahi shahidan wa hasiban wa jaziyan wa muthiba

and Allah suffices as Witness, as Reckoner, as Recompenser, and as Bestower of reward.
