- Fourth: Imam al-Sadiq (`a) is reported to have said this supplicatory prayer:
- This is the supplicatory prayer the Holy Prophet (s) said on the days of the Battle of Badr and the Battle of the Allies (i.e. al-Ahzab). The chief of martyrs; namely, Imam al-Husayn (`a), also said this supplicatory prayer in Karbala' on the `Ashura' Day — Furthermore, two more supplicatory prayers were said by Imam al-Husayn (`a) on that day. The first one is the supplicatory prayer he taught to his son Imam Zayn al-`ªbidin (`a) when he embraced him to his chest while blood was gushing from his body. Used in urgent cases, intense grief, harsh times, and difficult matters, the supplicatory prayer intended is as follows:

Fourth: Imam al-Sadiq (`a) is reported to have said this supplicatory prayer:
1أَنْتَ ثِقَتِي فِي كُلِّ كُرْبَةٍ
You are my trust in all hard times,

وَأَنْتَ رَجَائِي فِي كُلِّ شِدَّةٍ
You are my hope in all ordeals,
- 3
وَأَنْتَ لِي فِي كُلِّ أَمْرٍ نَزَلَ بِي ثِقَةٌ وَعُدَّةٌ
and You alone are my reliance and support in every matter that afflicts me.

كَمْ مِنْ كَرْبٍ يَضْعُفُ عَنْهُ ٱلْفُؤَادُ
Too many are the agonies, which the heart is too weak to undergo,
- 5
وَتَقِلُّ فِيهِ ٱلْحِيلَةُ
which all stratagems fail to manage,
- 6
وَيَخْذُلُ عَنْهُ ٱلْقَرِيبُ وَٱلْبَعِيدُ
in which the friend and the stranger disappoint,
- 7
وَيَشْمَتُ بِهِ ٱلْعَدُوُّ
at which the enemy gloat,
- 8
وَتُعْيِينِي فِيهِ ٱلأُمُورُ
and in which I lose any way out,
- 9
أَنْزَلْتُهُ بِكَ وَشَكَوْتُهُ إِلَيْكَ
but when I referred them to You and complained about them to You,
- 10
رَاغِباً فِيهِ عَمَّنْ سِوَاكَ
abandoning all others than You,
- 11
فَفَرَّجْتَهُ وَكَشَفْتَهُ وَكَفَيْتَنِيهِ
You have relieved, removed, and saved me from it.
- 12
فَأَنْتَ وَلِيُّ كُلِّ نِعْمَةٍ
So, You are the patron of all graces,
- 13
وَصَاحِبُ كُلِّ حَاجَةٍ
the One Who stands for all requests,
- 14
وَمُنْتَهَىٰ كُلِّ رَغْبَةٍ
and the utmost of all desires.

فَلَكَ ٱلْحَمْدُ كَثِيراً
So, very much praise be to You
- 16
وَلَكَ ٱلْمَنُّ فَاضِلاًَ
and abundant gratitude be to You.

17بِحَقِّ يٰس وَٱلْقُرْآنِ ٱلْحَكِيمِ
In the name of Yasin and the Qur'an full of wisdom

وَبِحَقِّ طٰهٰ وَٱلْقُرْآنِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
and in the name of Taha and the Great Qur'an (I beseech You).

يَا مَنْ يَقْدِرُ عَلَىٰ حَوَائِجِ ٱلسَّائِلِينَ
O He Who has power to grant the requests of the beseechers!
- 20
يَا مَنْ يَعْلَمُ مَا فِي ٱلضَّمِيرِ
O He Who knows what is in the inner selves!
- 21
يَا مُنَفِّساً عَنِ ٱلْمَكْرُوبِينَ
O He Who alleviates the agonized ones!
- 22
يَا مُفَرِّجاً عَنِ ٱلْمَغْمُومِينَ
O He Who relieves the distressed ones!
- 23
يَا رَاحِمَ ٱلشَّيخِ ٱلْكَبِيرِ
O He Who is merciful to the old ones!
- 24
يَا رَازِقَ ٱلطِّفْلِ ٱلصَّغِيرِ
O He Who provides the little babies with sustenance!
- 25
يَا مَنْ لاَ يَحْتَاجُ إِلَىٰ ٱلتَّفْسِيرِ
O He Who does not require explanation!
- 26
صَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ…
(Please) bless Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad and…One may now submit his requests
