اللَهُمَّ إنِّي أَخْلَصْتُ بِانْقِطَاعِي إلَيْكَ،
1I showed sincerity by cutting myself off from everything but You.

وَأَقْبَلْتُ بِكُلِّي عَلَيْـكَ،
2I approached You with my whole self.

وَصَـرَفْتُ وَجْهِي عَمَّنْ يَحْتَاجُ إلَى رِفْدِكَ،
3I averted my face from everyone who needs Your support.

وَقَلَبْتُ مَسْأَلَتِي عَمَّنْ لَمْ يَسْتَغْنِ عَنْ فَضْلِكَ،
4I ceased to ask from any who cannot do without Your bounty.

وَرَأَيْتُ أَنَّ طَلَبَ الْمُحْتَاجِ إلَى الْمُحْتَاجِ
5I saw that the needy who seeks from the needy

سَفَهٌ مِنْ رَأيِهِ وَضَلَّةٌ مِنْ عَقْلِهِ،
6is foolish in his opinion, and misguided in his intellect.

فَكَمْ قَدْ رَأَيْتُ يَـا إلهِيْ
7How many people have I seen, my God,
- 37
مِنْ أُناس طَلَبُوا الْعِزَّ بِغَيْرِكَ فَذَلُّوا،
8who sought exaltation through other than You and were abased,
- 38
وَرَامُوا الثَّرْوَةَ مِنْ سِوَاكَ فَافْتَقَرُوا،
9who wanted wealth from someone else and became poor,
- 39
وَحَاوَلُوا الارْتِفَاعَ فَاتَّضَعُوا،
10who tried to rise high and fell down low!

فَصحَّ بِمُعَايَنَةِ أَمْثَالِهِمْ حَازِمٌ
11Observing the likes of them corrects a prudent man;
- 41
وَفَّقَهُ اعْتِبَارُهُ
12his taking heed gives him success;
- 42
وَأَرْشَدَهُ إلَى طَرِيقِ صَوَابِهِ بِاخْتِبَارِهِ
13his choosing the best guides him to the path of right.

فَأَنْتَ يَا مَوْلايَ
14So Thou, my Master,
- 44
دُونَ كُلِّ مَسْؤُول مَوْضِعُ مَسْأَلَتِي
15art the object of my asking to the exclusion of all those who are asked
- 45
وَدُونَ كُلِّ مَطْلُوب إلَيْهِ وَلِيُّ حَاجَتِي.
16and the patron of my need to the exclusion of all those from whom requests are made.

الْمَخْصُوصُ قَبْلَ كُلِّ مَدْعُوٍّ بِدَعْوَتِي
17You art singled out for my call before all who are called;
- 47
لاَ يَشْرَكُكَ أَحَدٌ فِي رَجَائِي،
18none is associated with You in my hope,
- 48
وَلاَ يَتَّفِقُ أَحَدٌ مَعَكَ فِي دُعَائِي،
19none comes along with You in my supplication,
- 49
وَلاَ يَنْظِمُهُ وَإيَّاكَ نِدَائِي
20nor does any join with You within it, for to You is my appeal.

لَكَ يَا إلهِي وَحْدَانِيَّةُ الْعَدَدِ،
21To You, my God, belongs the Unity of number,
- 51
وَمَلَكَةُ الْقُدْرَةِ الصَّمَدِ،
22the property of eternal power,
- 52
وَفَضِيلَةُ الْحَوْلِ وَالْقُوَّةِ،
23the excellence of force and strength,
- 53
وَدَرَجَةُ الْعُلُوِّ وَالرِّفْعَةِ
24the degree of sublimity and elevation.
- 54
وَمَنْ سِوَاكَ مَرْحُومٌ فِي عُمْرِهِ،
25Everyone other than You is the object of compassion in his lifetime,
- 55
مَغْلُوبٌ عَلَى أَمْرِهِ، مَقْهُورٌ عَلَى شَأنِهِ،
26overcome in his affair, overwhelmed in his situation,
- 56
مُخْتَلِفُ الْحَالاَتِ، مُتَنَقِّلٌ فِي الصِّفَاتِ.
27diverse in states, constantly changing in attributes.
- 57
فَتَعَالَيْتَ عَنِ الأشْبَاهِ وَالاضْـدَادِ،
28So You art high exalted above likenesses and opposites,
- 58
وَتَكَبَّـرْتَ عَنِ الأمْثَـالِ وَالأنْدَادِ،
29proudly magnified beyond similitudes and rivals!
- 59
فَسُبْحَانَكَ لاَ إلهَ إلاَّ أَنْتَ.
30Glory be to You! There is no God but Thou.
