Sahifa Sajjadiya 48: Day of Sacrifice and Friday

وَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ فِيهِ مُجْتَمِعُونَ فِي أَقْطَارِ أَرْضِكَ،

wa-l-muslimūna fīhi mujtami‘ūna fī aqṭāri arḍik,

and the Muslims are gathered in it in the regions of Your earth,

يَشْهَدُ السَّائِلُ مِنْهُمْ وَ الطَّالِبُ وَ الرَّاغِبُ وَ الرَّاهِبُ

yashhadu s-sā’ilu minhum wa-ṭ-ṭālibu wa-r-rāghibu wa-r-rāhibu

the petitioner, the seeker, the desirous, and the dreader are present from among them,

وَ أَنْتَ النَّاظِرُ فِي حَوَائِجِهِمْ

wa-anta n-nāẓiru fī ḥawā’ijihim

and You are the Looker at their needs,

فَأَسْأَلُكَ بِجُودِكَ وَ كَرَمِكَ وَ هَوَانِ مَا سَأَلْتُكَ عَلَيْكَ

fa-as’aluka bi-jūdika wa-karamika wa-hawāni mā sa’altuka ‘alayk

so I ask You by Your generosity, Your nobleness, and the ease of what I ask of You upon You,

أَنْ تُصَلِّيَ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ

an tuṣalliya ‘alā Muḥammadin wa-ālih

to bless Muḥammad and his Household,

وَ أَسْأَلُكَ اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّنَا بِأَنَّ لَكَ الْمُلْكَ وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدَ،

wa-as’aluka Allāhumm Rabbanā bi-anna laka l-mulka wa-laka l-ḥamd,

And I ask You, O God, our Lord, by the fact that the dominion is Yours and the praise is Yours,

لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ، الْحَلِيمُ الْكَرِيمُ الْحَنَّانُ الْمَنَّانُ

lā ilāha illā Ant, al-Ḥalīmu l-Karīmu l-Ḥannānu l-Mannān

there is no god but You, the Forbearing, the Noble, the Compassionate, the Bestower,

ذُو الْجَلَالِ وَ الْإِكْرَامِ، بَدِيعُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَ الْأَرْضِ،

dhū l-jalāl wa-l-ikrām, badī‘u s-samāwāt wa-l-arḍ,

Possessor of Majesty and Honor, Originator of the heavens and the earth,

مَهْمَا قَسَمْتَ بَيْنَ عِبَادِكَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ

mahmā qasamta bayna ‘ibādika l-mu’minīn

whatever You distribute among Your believing servants

مِنْ خَيْرٍ أَوْ عَافِيَةٍ أَوْ بَرَكَةٍ أَوْ هُدًى أَوْ عَمَلٍ بِطَاعَتِكَ

min khayr aw ‘āfiyatin aw barakatin aw hudā aw ‘amalin bi-ṭā‘atik

of good, or well-being, or blessing, or guidance, or action in Your obedience,

أَوْ خَيْرٍ تَمُنُّ بِهِ عَلَيْهِمْ تَهْدِيهِمْ بِهِ إِلَيْكَ

aw khayr tamunnu bihī ‘alayhim tahdīhim bihī ilayk

or goodness You bestow upon them, by which You guide them to You,

أَوْ تَرْفَعُ لَهُمْ عِنْدَكَ دَرَجَةً

aw tarfa‘u lahum ‘indak darajah

or You raise a rank for them with You,

أَوْ تُعْطِيهِمْ بِهِ خَيْراً مِنْ خَيْرِ الدُّنْيَا وَ الْآخِرَةِ

aw tu‘ṭīhim bihī khayran min khayri d-dunyā wa-l-ākhirah

or You give them through it good from the good of this world and the Hereafter —

أَنْ تُوَفِّرَ حَظِّي وَ نَصِيبِي مِنْهُ.

an tuwaffira ḥaẓẓī wa-naṣībī minh.

to increase my share and portion of it.

وَ أَسْأَلُكَ اللَّهُمَّ بِأَنَّ

wa-as’aluka Allāhumm bi-anna

And I ask You, O God, by the fact that

لَكَ الْمُلْكَ وَ الْحَمْدَ

laka l-mulku wa-l-ḥamd,

the dominion and the praise are Yours,

لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ

lā ilāha illā Ant

there is no god but You,

أَنْ تُصَلِّيَ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ

an tuṣalliya ‘alā Muḥammad

to bless Muḥammad,

عَبْدِكَ وَ رَسُولِكَ

‘abdika wa-rasūlik

Your servant and Your messenger,

وَ حَبِيبِكَ وَ صِفْوَتِكَ

wa-ḥabībika wa-ṣifwatik

and Your beloved and Your chosen one,

وَ خِيَرَتِكَ مِنْ خَلْقِكَ

wa-khiyaratik min khalqik,

and Your best selection from Your creation,

وَ عَلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ الْأَبْرَارِ الطَّاهِرِينَ الْأَخْيَارِ

wa-‘alā āli Muḥammad al-abrār iṭ-ṭāhirīn al-akhyār

and upon the Household of Muḥammad, the pious, the pure, the excellent,

صَلَاةً لَا يَقْوَى عَلَى إِحْصَائِهَا إِلَّا أَنْتَ

ṣalātan lā yaqwā ‘alā iḥṣā’ihā illā Ant,

a blessing that none can enumerate except You,

وَ أَنْ تُشْرِكَنَا فِي

wa-an tushrikanā fī

and to include us in

صَالِحِ مَنْ دَعَاكَ فِي هَذَا الْيَوْمِ

ṣāliḥi man da‘āk fī hādhā l-yawm

the good of those who supplicated You on this day

مِنْ عِبَادِكَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ

min ‘ibādika l-mu’minīn,

of Your believing servants,

يَا رَبَّ الْعَالَمِينَ

yā Rabba l-‘ālamīn,

O Lord of the Worlds,

وَ أَنْ تَغْفِرَ لَنَا وَ لَهُمْ

wa-an taghfira lanā wa-lahum,

and to forgive us and them,

إِنَّكَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْ‏ءٍ قَدِيرٌ.

innaka ‘alā kulli shay’in qadīr.

truly You have power over everything.

اللَّهُمَّ إِلَيْكَ تَعَمَّدْتُ بِحَاجَتِي

Allāhumm ilayk ta‘ammattu bi-ḥājatī

O God, to You I have directed my need,

وَ بِكَ أَنْزَلْتُ الْيَوْمَ فَقْرِي

wa-bik anzaltu l-yawm faqri

and in You I have presented my poverty today,

وَ فَاقَتِي وَ مَسْكَنَتِي

wa-fāqatī wa-maskanatī,

and my destitution and my wretchedness,

وَ إِنِّي بِمَغْفِرَتِكَ وَ رَحْمَتِكَ أَوْثَقُ مِنِّي بِعَمَلِي

wa-innī bi-maghfiratik wa-raḥmatik awthaqu minnī bi-‘amalī

and I am more confident in Your forgiveness and Your mercy than in my own action,

وَ لَمَغْفِرَتُكَ وَ رَحْمَتُكَ أَوْسَعُ مِنْ ذُنُوبِي

wa-la-maghfiratuk wa-raḥmatuk awsa‘u min dhunūbī

and surely Your forgiveness and Your mercy are wider than my sins,

فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

fa-ṣalli ‘alā Muḥammadin wa-āli Muḥammad,

so bless Muḥammad and the Household of Muḥammad,

وَ تَوَلَّ قَضَاءَ كُلِّ حَاجَةٍ هِيَ لِي

wa-tawalla qaḍā’a kulli ḥājatin hiya lī

and undertake the fulfilling of every need that is mine,

بِقُدْرَتِكَ عَلَيْهَا

bi-qudratika ‘alayhā,

by Your power over it,

وَ تَيْسِيرِ ذَلِكَ عَلَيْكَ

wa-taysīr dhālik ‘alayk,

and the ease of that upon You,

وَ بِفَقْرِي إِلَيْكَ

wa-bi-faqrī ilayk

and by my poverty toward You,

وَ غِنَاكَ عَنِّي

wa-ghināk ‘annī,

and Your being free of need for me,

فَإِنِّي لَمْ أُصِبْ خَيْراً قَطُّ إِلَّا مِنْكَ

fa-innī lam uṣib khayran qaṭṭu illā mink,

for I have never attained any good at all except from You,

وَ لَمْ يَصْرِفْ عَنِّي سُوءاً قَطُّ أَحَدٌ غَيْرُكَ

wa-lam yaṣrif ‘annī sū’an qaṭṭu aḥadun ghayruk,

and no one has ever averted evil from me at all other than You,

وَ لَا أَرْجُو لِأَمْرِ

wa-lā arjū li-amri

and I do not hope for the matter of

آخِرَتِي وَ دُنْيَايَ سِوَاكَ

ākhiratī wa-dunyāya siwāk.

my Hereafter and my world except You.

اللَّهُمَّ مَنْ تَهَيَّأَ وَ تَعَبَّأَ

Allāhumm man tahayya’a wa-ta‘abba’a

O God, whoever prepares himself, and equips himself,

وَ أَعَدَّ وَ اسْتَعَدَّ

wa-a‘adda wa-sta‘adda

and makes ready, and makes preparations,

لِوِفَادَةٍ إِلَى مَخْلُوقٍ

li-wifādatin ilā makhlūq

for a delegation to a creature,

رَجَاءَ رِفْدِهِ وَ نَوَافِلِهِ وَ طَلَبَ نَيْلِهِ وَ جَائِزَتِهِ

rajā’a rifdihī wa-nawāfilihī wa-ṭalaba naylihī wa-jā’izatih,

hoping for his gift and his supererogatory grants, and seeking his attainment and his prize,

فَإِلَيْكَ يَا مَوْلَايَ كَانَتِ الْيَوْمَ

fa-ilayk yā Mawlāya kānat-i l-yawm

then to You, O my Master, was today

تَهْيِئَتِي وَ تَعْبِئَتِي

tahyi’atī wa-ta‘bi’atī

my preparation and my equipping,

وَ إِعْدَادِي وَ اسْتِعْدَادِي

wa-i‘dādī wa-sti‘dādī

and my readiness and my preparations,

رَجَاءَ عَفْوِكَ وَ رِفْدِكَ

rajā’a ‘afwik wa-rifdik

hoping for Your pardon and Your gift,

وَ طَلَبَ نَيْلِكَ وَ جَائِزَتِكَ

wa-ṭalaba naylik wa-jā’izatik.

and seeking Your attainment and Your prize.

اللَّهُمَّ فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

Allāhumm fa-ṣalli ‘alā Muḥammadin wa-āli Muḥammad

O God, so bless Muḥammad and the Household of Muḥammad,

وَ لَا تُخَيِّبِ الْيَوْمَ ذَلِكَ مِنْ رَجَائِي،

wa-lā tukhayyibi l-yawm dhālik min rajā’ī,

and do not disappoint that hope of mine today,

يَا مَنْ لَا يُحْفِيهِ سَائِلٌ

yā man lā yuḥfīhi sā’il

O You whom no petitioner tires,

وَ لَا يَنْقُصُهُ نَائِلٌ

wa-lā yanquṣuhū nā’il,

and whom no bestower diminishes,

فَإِنِّي لَمْ آتِكَ ثِقَةً

fa-innī lam ātika thiqatan

for I did not come to You trusting

مِنِّي بِعَمَلٍ صَالِحٍ قَدَّمْتُهُ

minnī bi-‘amalin ṣāliḥin qaddamtu,

in a righteous action I presented,

وَ لَا شَفَاعَةِ مَخْلُوقٍ رَجَوْتُهُ

wa-lā shafā‘ati makhlūqin rajawtuh,

and not the intercession of a creature I hoped for,

إِلَّا شَفَاعَةَ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ أَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ

illā shafā‘ata Muḥammadin wa-ahl baytihī

except the intercession of Muḥammad and his Household,

عَلَيْهِ وَ عَلَيْهِمْ سَلَامُكَ

‘alayhi wa-‘alayhim salāmuk

upon him and upon them be Your peace,

أَتَيْتُكَ مُقِرّاً بِالْجُرْمِ وَ الْإِسَاءَةِ إِلَى نَفْسِي

ataytuka muqirran bi-l-jurm wa-l-isā’ati ilā nafsī

I came to You confessing the offense and the wrong done to myself,

أَتَيْتُكَ أَرْجُو عَظِيمَ عَفْوِكَ

ataytuka arjū ‘aẓīma ‘afwik

I came to You hoping for Your great pardon,

الَّذِي عَفَوْتَ بِهِ عَنِ الْخَاطِئِينَ

alladhī ‘afawta bihī ‘ani l-khāṭi’īn

by which You pardoned the sinners,

ثُمَّ لَمْ يَمْنَعْكَ طُولُ عُكُوفِهِمْ عَلَى عَظِيمِ الْجُرْمِ

thumma lam yamna‘ka ṭūlu ‘ukūfihim ‘alā ‘aẓīmi l-jurm

and the prolonged devotion of theirs to the grave offense did not prevent You

أَنْ عُدْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ بِالرَّحْمَةِ وَ الْمَغْفِرَةِ

an ‘udta ‘alayhim bi-r-raḥmati wa-l-maghfirah

from returning to them with mercy and forgiveness,

فَيَا مَنْ رَحْمَتُهُ وَاسِعَةٌ

fa-yā man raḥmatuhū wāsi‘ah

so O You whose mercy is vast,

وَ عَفْوُهُ عَظِيمٌ

wa-‘afwuhū ‘aẓīm,

and whose pardon is great,

يَا عَظِيمُ يَا عَظِيمُ

yā ‘Aẓīm, yā ‘Aẓīm,

O Great One, O Great One,

يَا كَرِيمُ يَا كَرِيمُ

yā Karīm, yā Karīm,

O Noble One, O Noble One,

صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

ṣalli ‘alā Muḥammadin wa-āli Muḥammad

bless Muḥammad and the Household of Muḥammad,

وَ عُدْ عَلَيَّ بِرَحْمَتِكَ

wa-‘ud ‘alayya bi-raḥmatik

and return to me with Your mercy,

وَ تَعَطَّفْ عَلَيَّ بِفَضْلِكَ

wa-ta‘aṭṭaf ‘alayya bi-faḍlik

and show me affection with Your favor,

وَ تَوَسَّعْ عَلَيَّ بِمَغْفِرَتِكَ.

wa-tawassa‘ ‘alayya bi-maghfiratik.

and be vast toward me with Your forgiveness.

اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّ هَذَا الْمَقَامَ لِخُلَفَائِكَ وَ أَصْفِيَائِكَ

Allāhumm inna hādhā l-maqāma li-khulafā’ika wa-aṣfiyā’ik

O God, truly this station belongs to Your Successors (Khulafā’) and Your Chosen Ones (Aṣfiyā’),

وَ مَوَاضِعَ أُمَنَائِكَ

wa-mawāḍi‘a umanā’ik

and the positions of Your Trustees (Umanā’)

فِي الدَّرَجَةِ الرَّفِيعَةِ الَّتِي اخْتَصَصْتَهُمْ بِهَا

fī d-darajati r-rafī‘ati l-latī khaṣṣaṣtahum bihā

in the lofty rank You singled out for them,

قَدِ ابْتَزُّوهَا

qadi btazzūhā

they have been usurped from it,

وَ أَنْتَ الْمُقَدِّرُ لِذَلِكَ

wa-anta l-muqaddir li-dhālik

and You are the Ordainer of that,

لَا يُغَالَبُ أَمْرُكَ

lā yughālabu amruk

Your command is not to be overcome,

وَ لَا يُجَاوَزُ الْمَحْتُومُ مِنْ تَدْبِيرِكَ

wa-lā yujāwazu l-maḥtūmu min tadbīrik

and the predetermined of Your governance is not to be transgressed,

كَيْفَ شِئْتَ وَ أَنَّى شِئْتَ

kayfa shi’ta wa-annā shi’ta

how You willed and whenever You willed,

وَ لِمَا أَنْتَ أَعْلَمُ بِهِ

wa-li-mā anta a‘lamu bih

and for what You know best,

غَيْرُ مُتَّهَمٍ عَلَى خَلْقِكَ وَ لَا لِإِرَادَتِكَ

ghayru muttaham ‘alā khalqik wa-lā li-irādatik

without being accused concerning Your creation or Your will,

حَتَّى عَادَ صِفْوَتُكَ وَ خُلَفَاؤُكَ

ḥattā ‘āda ṣifwatuk wa-khulafā’uk

until Your chosen ones and Your successors became

مَغْلُوبِينَ مَقْهُورِينَ مُبْتَزِّينَ

maghlūbīna maqhūrīna mubtazzīn

defeated, subdued, and usurped,

يَرَوْنَ حُكْمَكَ مُبَدَّلًا

yarawna ḥukmak mubaddalā

they see Your judgment changed,

وَ كِتَابَكَ مَنْبُوذاً

wa-kitābak manbūdhā,

and Your Book abandoned,

وَ فَرَائِضَكَ مُحَرَّفَةً عَنْ جِهَاتِ أَشْرَاعِكَ

wa-farā’iḍak muḥarrafatan ‘an jihāti ashrā‘ik

and Your ordinances distorted from the directions of Your religious laws,

وَ سُنَنَ نَبِيِّكَ مَتْرُوكَةً

wa-sunana nabīyyika matrūkah.

and the practices of Your Prophet abandoned.

اللَّهُمَّ الْعَنْ أَعْدَاءَهُمْ مِنَ الْأَوَّلِينَ وَ الْآخِرِينَ

Allāhumm il‘an a‘dā’ahum min al-awwalīn wa-l-ākhirīn

O God, curse their enemies from the former and the latter generations,

وَ مَنْ رَضِيَ بِفِعَالِهِمْ

wa-man raḍiya bi-fi‘ālihim

and those who were pleased with their deeds,

وَ أَشْيَاعَهُمْ وَ أَتْبَاعَهُمْ

wa-ashyā‘ahum wa-atbā‘ahum.

and their followers and their adherents.

اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

Allāhumm ṣalli ‘alā Muḥammadin wa-āli Muḥammad

O God, bless Muḥammad and the Household of Muḥammad,

إِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ

innaka Ḥamīdun Majīd,

truly You are Praiseworthy (Ḥamīd), Glorious (Majīd),

كَصَلَوَاتِكَ وَ بَرَكَاتِكَ وَ تَحِيَّاتِكَ

ka-ṣalawātika wa-barakātika wa-taḥīyyātik

like Your blessings, and Your benedictions, and Your greetings,

عَلَى أَصْفِيَائِكَ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَ آلِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ

‘alā aṣfiyā’ik Ibrāhīm wa-āli Ibrāhīm

upon Your chosen ones Ibrāhīm and the Household of Ibrāhīm,

وَ عَجِّلِ الْفَرَجَ

wa-‘ajjil al-faraj

and hasten the relief (al-faraj),

وَ الرَّوْحَ وَ النُّصْرَةَ وَ التَّمْكِينَ وَ التَّأْيِيدَ لَهُمْ

wa-r-rawḥ wa-n-nuṣrata wa-t-tamkīn wa-t-ta’yīd lahum

and the comfort (ar-rawḥ), and the help (an-nuṣrah), and the establishment (at-tamkīn), and the support (at-ta’yīd) for them.

اللَّهُمَّ وَ اجْعَلْنِي

Allāhumm wa-j‘alnī

O God, and make me

مِنْ أَهْلِ التَّوْحِيدِ

min ahl it-tawḥīd

one of the people of Monotheism (at-tawḥīd),

وَ الْإِيمَانِ بِكَ

wa-l-īmān bik

and faith in You,

وَ التَّصْدِيقِ بِرَسُولِكَ

wa-t-taṣdīq bi-rasūlik

and belief in Your Messenger,

وَ الْأَئِمَّةِ الَّذِينَ حَتَمْتَ طَاعَتَهُمْ

wa-l-a’immati l-ladhīna ḥatamta ṭā‘atahum

and the Imams whose obedience You made obligatory,

مِمَّنْ يَجْرِي ذَلِكَ بِهِ وَ عَلَى يَدَيْهِ

mimman yajrī dhālik bihī wa-‘alā yadayh

from those by whom and upon whose hands that runs

آمِينَ رَبَّ الْعَالَمِينَ

āmīn Rabba l-‘ālamīn.

Amen, O Lord of the Worlds.

اللَّهُمَّ لَيْسَ يَرُدُّ غَضَبَكَ إِلَّا حِلْمُكَ

Allāhumm laysa yaruddu ghaḍabaka illā ḥilmuk,

O God, nothing wards off Your anger except Your forbearance,

وَ لَا يَرُدُّ سَخَطَكَ إِلَّا عَفْوُكَ

wa-lā yaruddu sakhaṭaka illā ‘afwuk,

and nothing wards off Your displeasure except Your pardon,

وَ لا يُجِيرُ مِنْ عِقَابِكَ إِلَّا رَحْمَتُكَ

wa-lā yujīru min ‘iqābika illā raḥmatuk

and nothing grants refuge from Your punishment except Your mercy,

وَ لَا يُنْجِينِي مِنْكَ

wa-lā yunjīnī mink

and nothing saves me from You

إِلَّا التَّضَرُّعُ إِلَيْكَ وَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْكَ

illā t-taḍarru‘u ilayk wa-bayna yadayk

except humility to You and before You,

فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

fa-ṣalli ‘alā Muḥammadin wa-āli Muḥammad

so bless Muḥammad and the Household of Muḥammad,

وَ هَبْ لَنَا يَا إِلَهِي مِنْ لَدُنْكَ فَرَجاً

wa-hab lanā yā Ilāhī min ladunka farajā

and grant us, O my God, from Your presence a relief (faraj),

بِالْقُدْرَةِ الَّتِي بِهَا تُحْيِي أَمْوَاتَ الْعِبَادِ

bi-l-qudrati l-latī bihā tuḥyī amwāta l-‘ibād

by the power by which You bring the dead of Your servants back to life,

وَ بِهَا تَنْشُرُ مَيْتَ الْبِلَادِ

wa-bihā tanshuru mayta l-bilād.

and by which You spread the dead of the lands,

وَ لَا تُهْلِكْنِي يَا إِلَهِي غَمّاً

wa-lā tuhliknī yā Ilāhī ghammā

and do not destroy me, O my God, with grief,

حَتَّى تَسْتَجِيبَ لِي

ḥattā tastajība lī

until You answer me,

وَ تُعَرِّفَنِي الْإِجَابَةَ فِي دُعَائِي

wa-tu‘arrifanī l-ijābata fī du‘ā’ī

and let me know the answer to my supplication,

وَ أَذِقْنِي طَعْمَ الْعَافِيَةِ إِلَى مُنْتَهَى أَجَلِي

wa-adhiqnī ṭa‘ma l-‘āfiyati ilā muntahā ajalī

and let me taste the savor of well-being (al-‘āfiyah) until the end of my term,

وَ لَا تُشْمِتْ بِي عَدُوِّي

wa-lā tushmit bī ‘aduwwī

and do not make my enemy gloat over me,

وَ لَا تُمَكِّنْهُ مِنْ عُنُقِي

wa-lā tumakkinhu min ‘unuqī

and do not give him power over my neck,

وَ لَا تُسَلِّطْهُ عَلَيَّ

wa-lā tusalīṭhu ‘alayy.

and do not give him authority over me.

إِلَهِي إِنْ رَفَعْتَنِي

Ilāhī in rafa‘tanī

My God, if You raise me,

فَمَنْ ذَا الَّذِي يَضَعُنِي

fa-man dhā l-ladhī yaḍa‘unī

then who is there that can put me down?

وَ إِنْ وَضَعْتَنِي

wa-in waḍa‘tanī

And if You put me down,

فَمَنْ ذَا الَّذِي يَرْفَعُنِي

fa-man dhā l-ladhī yarfa‘unī

then who is there that can raise me?

وَ إِنْ أَكْرَمْتَنِي

wa-in akramtanī

And if You honor me,

فَمَنْ ذَا الَّذِي يُهِينُنِي

fa-man dhā l-ladhī yuhīnūnī

then who is there that can disgrace me?

وَ إِنْ أَهَنْتَنِي

wa-in ahantanī

And if You disgrace me,

فَمَنْ ذَا الَّذِي يُكْرِمُنِي

fa-man dhā l-ladhī yukrimunī

then who is there that can honor me?

وَ إِنْ عَذَّبْتَنِي

wa-in ‘adhdhabtanī

And if You punish me,

فَمَنْ ذَا الَّذِي يَرْحَمُنِي

fa-man dhā l-ladhī yarḥamunī?

then who is there that can have mercy on me?

وَ إِنْ أَهْلَكْتَنِي

wa-in ahlaktanī

And if You destroy me,

فَمَنْ ذَا الَّذِي يَعْرِضُ لَكَ فِي عَبْدِكَ

fa-man dhā l-ladhī ya‘riḍu lak fī ‘abdik

then who is there that can challenge You concerning Your servant,

أَوْ يَسْأَلُكَ عَنْ أَمْرِهِ

aw yas’aluka ‘an amrih?

or ask You about his affair?

وَ قَدْ عَلِمْتُ أَنَّهُ لَيْسَ فِي حُكْمِكَ ظُلْمٌ

wa-qad ‘alimtu annahū laysa fī ḥukmik ẓulm

And I have known that there is no injustice (ẓulm) in Your judgment,

وَ لَا فِي نَقِمَتِكَ عَجَلَةٌ

wa-lā fī naqimatika ‘ajalah

and no haste in Your retribution,

وَ إِنَّمَا يَعْجَلُ مَنْ يَخَافُ الْفَوْتَ

wa-innamā ya‘jalu man yakhāfu l-fawt

and surely only one who fears loss is hasty,

وَ إِنَّمَا يَحْتَاجُ إِلَى الظُّلْمِ الضَّعِيفُ

wa-innamā yaḥtāju ilā ẓ-ẓulm iḍ-ḍa‘īf

and surely only the weak is in need of injustice,

وَ قَدْ تَعَالَيْتَ يَا إِلَهِي

wa-qad ta‘ālayta yā Ilāhī

and You have been exalted, O my God,

عَنْ ذَلِكَ عُلُوّاً كَبِيراً

‘an dhālik ‘uluwwan kabīrā.

far above that, a great exaltation.

اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

Allāhumm ṣalli ‘alā Muḥammadin wa-āli Muḥammad

O God, bless Muḥammad and the Household of Muḥammad,

وَ لَا تَجْعَلْنِي لِلْبَلَاءِ غَرَضاً

wa-lā taj‘alnī li-l-balā’i gharaḍā,

and do not make me a target for tribulation (balā’),

وَ لَا لِنَقِمَتِكَ نَصَباً

wa-lā li-naqimatika naṣabā,

and not an object for Your retribution (naqimah),

وَ مَهِّلْنِي، وَ نَفِّسْنِي

wa-mahhilnī, wa-naffisnī

and grant me respite, and relieve me,

وَ أَقِلْنِي عَثْرَتِي

wa-aqilnī ‘athratī

and overlook my slip,

وَ لَا تَبْتَلِيَنِّي بِبَلَاءٍ

wa-lā tabtaliyanī bi-balā’in

and do not afflict me with a tribulation

عَلَى أَثَرِ بَلَاءٍ

‘alā athar balā’,

upon the heels of a tribulation,

فَقَدْ تَرَى ضَعْفِي

fa-qad tarā ḍa‘fī

for You see my weakness,

وَ قِلَّةَ حِيلَتِي

wa-qillata ḥīlatī

and the fewness of my resource,

وَ تَضَرُّعِي إِلَيْكَ

wa-taḍarru‘ī ilayk.

and my humility to You.

أَعُوذُ بِكَ اللَّهُمَّ الْيَوْمَ مِنْ غَضَبِكَ

A‘ūdhu bik Allāhumm al-yawm min ghaḍabik

I seek refuge in You, O God, today from Your anger,

فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ وَ أَعِذْنِي.

fa-ṣalli ‘alā Muḥammadin wa-ālihī wa-a‘idhnī.

so bless Muḥammad and his Household, and grant me refuge.

وَ أَسْتَجِيرُ بِكَ الْيَوْمَ مِنْ سَخَطِكَ

Wa-astajīru bik al-yawm min sakhaṭik

And I seek protection in You today from Your displeasure,

فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ وَ أَجِرْنِي

fa-ṣalli ‘alā Muḥammadin wa-ālihī wa-ajirnī.

so bless Muḥammad and his Household, and protect me.

وَ أَسْأَلُكَ أَمْناً مِنْ عَذَابِكَ

Wa-as’aluka amnan min ‘adhābik

And I ask You for security from Your punishment,

فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ، وَ آمِنِّي

fa-ṣalli ‘alā Muḥammadin wa-ālihī, wa-āminnī.

so bless Muḥammad and his Household, and grant me security.

وَ أَسْتَهْدِيكَ

Wa-astahdīk

And I seek guidance from You,

فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ وَ اهْدِنِي

fa-ṣalli ‘alā Muḥammadin wa-ālihī wa-hdinī.

so bless Muḥammad and his Household, and guide me.

وَ أَسْتَنْصِرُكَ

Wa-astanṣiruk

And I seek Your help,

فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ، وَ انْصُرْنِي

fa-ṣalli ‘alā Muḥammadin wa-ālihī, wa-nṣurnī.

so bless Muḥammad and his Household, and help me.

وَ أَسْتَرْحِمُكَ

Wa-astarḥimuk

And I seek Your mercy,

فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ، وَ ارْحَمْنِي

fa-ṣalli ‘alā Muḥammadin wa-ālihī, wa-rḥamnī.

so bless Muḥammad and his Household, and have mercy on me.

وَ أَسْتَكْفِيكَ

Wa-astakfīk

And I seek Your sufficiency,

فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ، وَ اكْفِنِي

fa-ṣalli ‘alā Muḥammadin wa-ālihī, wa-kfinī.

so bless Muḥammad and his Household, and suffice me.

وَ أَسْتَرْزِقُكَ

Wa-astarziquk

And I seek provision from You,

فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ، وَ ارْزُقْنِي

fa-ṣalli ‘alā Muḥammadin wa-ālihī, wa-rzugnī.

so bless Muḥammad and his Household, and provide for me.

وَ أَسْتَعِينُكَ

Wa-asta‘īnuk

And I seek Your aid,

فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ وَ أَعِنِّي

fa-ṣalli ‘alā Muḥammadin wa-ālihī wa-a‘innī.

so bless Muḥammad and his Household, and aid me.

وَ أَسْتَغْفِرُكَ لِمَا سَلَفَ مِنْ ذُنُوبِي

Wa-astaghfiruk li-mā salafa min dhunūbī

And I seek Your forgiveness for what has passed of my sins,

فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ، وَ اغْفِرْ لِي

fa-ṣalli ‘alā Muḥammadin wa-ālihī, wa-ghfir lī.

so bless Muḥammad and his Household, and forgive me.

وَ أَسْتَعْصِمُكَ

Wa-asta‘ṣimuk

And I seek infallibility from You,

فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ، وَ اعْصِمْنِي

fa-ṣalli ‘alā Muḥammadin wa-ālihī, wa-‘ṣimnī.

so bless Muḥammad and his Household, and make me infallible.

فَإِنِّي لَنْ أَعُودَ لِشَيْ‏ءٍ كَرِهْتَهُ مِنِّي إِنْ شِئْتَ ذَلِكَ

fa-innī lan a‘ūda li-shay’in karihtahū minnī in shi’ta dhālik

For I shall not return to anything You dislike from me, if You will that

يَا رَبِّ يَا رَبِّ، يَا حَنَّانُ يَا مَنَّانُ

yā Rabb, yā Rabb, yā Ḥannān, yā Mannān,

O Lord, O Lord, O Compassionate One, O Bestower,

يَا ذَا الْجَلَالِ وَ الْإِكْرَامِ

yā dhā l-jalāl wa-l-ikrām,

O Possessor of Majesty and Honor,

صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ

ṣalli ‘alā Muḥammadin wa-ālihī

bless Muḥammad and his Household,

وَ اسْتَجِبْ لِي جَمِيعَ

wa-stajib lī jamī‘a

and answer for me all

مَا سَأَلْتُكَ وَ طَلَبْتُ إِلَيْكَ

mā sa’altuka wa-ṭalabtu ilayk

that I have asked of You and requested from You,

وَ رَغِبْتُ فِيهِ إِلَيْكَ

wa-raghibtu fīhi ilayk

and desired of You,

وَ أَرِدْهُ وَ قَدِّرْهُ وَ اقْضِهِ وَ أَمْضِهِ

wa-aridhu wa-qaddirhu wa-qḍihī wa-amḍih,

and will it, and decree it, and determine it, and ratify it,

وَ خِرْ لِي فِيمَا تَقْضِي مِنْه

wa-khir lī fīmā taqḍī minh

and choose the best for me in what You determine of it,

وَ بَارِكْ لِي فِي ذَلِكَ

wa-bārik lī fī dhālik

and bless me in that,

وَ تَفَضَّلْ عَلَيَّ بِهِ

wa-tafaḍḍal ‘alayya bihī

and favor me with it,

وَ أَسْعِدْنِي بِمَا تُعْطِينِي مِنْهُ

wa-as‘idnī bi-mā tu‘ṭīnī minh

and make me happy with what You give me of it,

وَ زِدْنِي مِنْ فَضْلِكَ

wa-zidnī min faḍlik

and increase me from Your favor,

وَ سَعَةِ مَا عِنْدَكَ

wa-sa‘ati mā ‘indak,

and the vastness of what is with You,

فَإِنَّكَ وَاسِعٌ كَرِيمٌ

fa-innaka Wāsi‘un Karīm

for truly You are Vast, Noble,

وَ صِلْ ذَلِكَ بِخَيْرِ الْآخِرَةِ وَ نَعِيمِهَا

wa-ṣil dhālika bi-khayri l-ākhirati wa-na‘īmihā

and connect that with the good of the Hereafter and its bliss,

يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ

yā Arḥama r-Rāḥimīn.

O Most Merciful of the merciful ones.

تَدْعُو بِمَا بَدَا لَكَ، وَ تُصَلِّي عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ أَلْفَ مَرَّةٍ هَكَذَا كَانَ يَفْعَلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ

Tad‘ū bi-mā badā lak, wa-tuṣallī ‘alā Muḥammadin wa-ālihī alfa marratin, hākadhā kāna yaf‘alu ‘alayhi s-salām.

You supplicate with whatever seems right to you, and you bless Muḥammad and his Household one thousand times. Thus he (peace be upon him) used to do.

اللَّهُمَّ هَذَا يَوْمٌ مُبَارَكٌ مَيْمُونٌ

al-laahum-ma had'aa yaw-mum-mubaarakum-may-moon

1.O God, this is a blessed and fortunate day,

وَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ فِيهِ مُجْتَمِعُونَ فِي أَقْطَارِ أَرْضِكَ،

wal-mus-limoona feehee muj-tamiu'wna feee aq-t'aari ar-z''ik

2.within which the Muslims are gathered in the quarters of Your earth.

يَشْهَدُ السَّائِلُ مِنْهُمْ وَ الطَّالِبُ وَ الرَّاغِبُ وَ الرَّاهِبُ

yash-hadus-saaa-ilu min-hum wat'-t'aalibu war-raaghibu war-raahib

3.Among them are present the asker, the seeker, the beseecher, the fearful,

وَ أَنْتَ النَّاظِرُ فِي حَوَائِجِهِمْ

wa antan-naaz'iru fee h'awaaa-ijihim

4.while You art looking upon their needs.

فَأَسْأَلُكَ بِجُودِكَ وَ كَرَمِكَ وَ هَوَانِ مَا سَأَلْتُكَ عَلَيْكَ

faas-aluka bijoodika wa karamika wa hawaani maa saal-tuka a'lay-ka

5.So I ask You by Your munificence and generosity and easy upon You is what I ask You!

أَنْ تُصَلِّيَ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ

an tus'al-leea a'laa muh'am-madiw-wa aaalih

6.- that You blessest Muhammad and his Household

وَ أَسْأَلُكَ اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّنَا بِأَنَّ لَكَ الْمُلْكَ وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدَ،

wa as-alukal-laahum-ma rab-banaa bi n-na lakal-mul-ka wa lakal-h'am-d

7.And I ask You, O God, our Lord -for Thine is the kingdom and Thine is the praise

لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ، الْحَلِيمُ الْكَرِيمُ الْحَنَّانُ الْمَنَّانُ

laaa ilaha il-laaa antaal-h'aleemul-kareemal-h'an-naanul-man-naan

8.there is no god but Thou,the Clement, the Generous,the All-loving, the All-kind,

ذُو الْجَلَالِ وَ الْإِكْرَامِ، بَدِيعُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَ الْأَرْضِ،

d'ool-jalaali wal-ik-raam badeeu's-samaawaati wal-ar-z''

9.Possessor of majesty and munificence,Originator of the heavens and the earth

، مَهْمَا قَسَمْتَ بَيْنَ عِبَادِكَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ

mah-maa qasam-ta bay-na i'baadikal-moo-mineena

10.whenever You apportionest among Your faithful servants

مِنْ خَيْرٍ أَوْ عَافِيَةٍ أَوْ بَرَكَةٍ أَوْ هُدًى أَوْ عَمَلٍ بِطَاعَتِكَ

min khay-rin aw a'afeeah aw barakatin aw hudana aw a'malim-bit'aaa'tik

11.good, well being, blessing, guidance, works in obedience to You,

،أَوْ خَيْرٍ تَمُنُّ بِهِ عَلَيْهِمْ تَهْدِيهِمْ بِهِ إِلَيْكَ

aw khay-rin tamun-nu bihee a'lay-him tah-deehim biheee ilay-k

12.or good through which You art kind to them by guiding them to You,

أَوْ تَرْفَعُ لَهُمْ عِنْدَكَ دَرَجَةً

aw tar-fau' lahum i'ndaka darajah

13.or raisest them up a degree with You,

، أَوْ تُعْطِيهِمْ بِهِ خَيْراً مِنْ خَيْرِ الدُّنْيَا وَ الْآخِرَةِ

aw tua'-t'eehim bihee khay-ram-min khay-rid-dunyaa wal-akhirah

14.or givest them the good of this world or the next,

.أَنْ تُوَفِّرَ حَظِّي وَ نَصِيبِي مِنْهُ

an tuwaf-fira h'az'-z'ee wanas'eebee min-h

15.that You givest me amply my share and allotment of it.

وَ أَسْأَلُكَ اللَّهُمَّ بِأَنَّ

wa as-alukal-laahum-ma bi an-na

16.And I ask You, O God -

,لَكَ الْمُلْكَ وَ الْحَمْدَ

lakal-mul-ka wa lakal-h'am-d

17.for Thine is the kingdom and the praise;

لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ

laaa ilaha il-laaa ant

18.there is no god but You -

أَنْ تُصَلِّيَ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ

an tus'al-leea a'laa muh'am-mad-in

19.that You blessest Muhammad

عَبْدِكَ وَ رَسُولِكَ

a'b-dika warasoolik

20.Your servant and Your messenger,

وَ حَبِيبِكَ وَ صِفْوَتِكَ

wa h'abeebika wa s'af-watik

21.Your beloved and Your selected friend,

,وَ خِيَرَتِكَ مِنْ خَلْقِكَ

wa kheearatika min khal-qik

22.Your chosen from among Your creation,

وَ عَلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ الْأَبْرَارِ الطَّاهِرِينَ الْأَخْيَارِ

wa a'laaa aaali muh'am-mad al-ab-raarit'-t'aahireenal-akh-yaar

23.and the Household of Muhammad, the pious, the pure, the chosen,

,صَلَاةً لَا يَقْوَى عَلَى إِحْصَائِهَا إِلَّا أَنْتَ

s'alaatal-laa yaq-waa a'laaa ih'-s'aaa-ihaaa il-laaa ant

24.with a blessing no one has strength to count but Thou,

وَ أَنْ تُشْرِكَنَا فِي

wa an tush-rikanaa fee s'aalihee man daa'aka

25.that You associatest us with

صَالِحِ مَنْ دَعَاكَ فِي هَذَا الْيَوْمِ

man daa'aka fee had'aal-yaw-mi

26.the most righteous of those who supplicate You today

مِنْ عِبَادِكَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ

min i'baadikal-moo-mineen

27.of Your faithful servants

،يَا رَبَّ الْعَالَمِينَ

yaa rab-bal-a'alameen

28.- O Lord of the worlds!—

,وَ أَنْ تَغْفِرَ لَنَا وَ لَهُمْ

wa an tagh-fira lanaa wa lahum-

29.and that You forgivest us and them!

.إِنَّكَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْ‏ءٍ قَدِيرٌ

in-nak a'laa kul-li shay-in qadeer

30."Surely You art powerful over everything" (3:26).

اللَّهُمَّ إِلَيْكَ تَعَمَّدْتُ بِحَاجَتِي

al-laahum-ma ilay-ka taa'm-mat-tu bih'aajatee

31.O God, toward You I aim with my need

وَ بِكَ أَنْزَلْتُ الْيَوْمَ فَقْرِي

wa bika anzal-tul-yaw-ma faq-ree

32.and before You today I set my poverty,

،وَ فَاقَتِي وَ مَسْكَنَتِي

wa faaqatee wa mas-kanatee

33.my neediness, my misery,

وَ إِنِّي بِمَغْفِرَتِكَ وَ رَحْمَتِكَ أَوْثَقُ مِنِّي بِعَمَلِي

wa in-nee bimagh-firatika wa rah'-matika aw-thaqu min-nee bia'malee

34.for I have more trust in Your forgiveness and Your mercy than in my own works.

وَ لَمَغْفِرَتُكَ وَ رَحْمَتُكَ أَوْسَعُ مِنْ ذُنُوبِي

wa lamagh-firatuka wa rah'-matuka aw-sau' min d'unoobee

35.Your forgiveness and Your mercy are vaster than my sins.

فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

fas'al-li a'laa muh'am-madiw-wa aaali muh'am-mad

36.So bless Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad,

، وَ تَوَلَّ قَضَاءَ كُلِّ حَاجَةٍ هِيَ لِي

wa tawal-la qaz''aaa-a kul-li h'aajatin heea lee

37.and attend to the accomplishment of every need of mine through

بِقُدْرَتِكَ عَلَيْهَا

biqud-ratika a'lay-haa

38.Your power over it,

، وَ تَيْسِيرِ ذَلِكَ عَلَيْكَ

wa tay-seeri d'alika a'lay-k

39.its easiness for You,

وَ بِفَقْرِي إِلَيْكَ

wa bifaq-reee ilay-k

40.my poverty toward You,

وَ غِنَاكَ عَنِّي

wa ghinaaka a'n-nee

41.and Your freedom from need for me!

، فَإِنِّي لَمْ أُصِبْ خَيْراً قَطُّ إِلَّا مِنْكَ

fa in-nee lam us'ib khay-rana qt'-t'u il-laa mink

42.I will come upon no good whatsoever unless through You,

، وَ لَمْ يَصْرِفْ عَنِّي سُوءاً قَطُّ أَحَدٌ غَيْرُكَ

wa lam yas'-rif a'n-nee sooo-ana qat'-t'u ah'adun ghay-ruk

43.no one other than You will turn any evil away from me,

وَ لَا أَرْجُو لِأَمْرِ

wa laaa ar-joo liam-ri

44.and I have hope in none but You for my affair

آخِرَتِي وَ دُنْيَايَ سِوَاكَ

aaakhiratee wa dunyaaya siwaak

45.in the next world and in this world.

اللَّهُمَّ مَنْ تَهَيَّأَ وَ تَعَبَّأَ

al-laahum-ma man tahay-yaa wa taa'b-baa

46.O God, if anyone has ever arranged, made ready,

وَ أَعَدَّ وَ اسْتَعَدَّ

wa aa'd-da was-taa'd-da

47.prepared, and drawn himself up

لِوِفَادَةٍ إِلَى مَخْلُوقٍ

liwifaadatin ilaa makhlooq

48.to be received by a creature

رَجَاءَ رِفْدِهِ وَ نَوَافِلِهِ وَ طَلَبَ نَيْلِهِ وَ جَائِزَتِهِ

rajaaa-a rif-dihee wa nawaafilih wa t'alaba nay-lihee wajaaa-izatih

49.in hope of his support and awards,

فَإِلَيْكَ يَا مَوْلَايَ كَانَتِ الْيَوْمَ

faalay-ka yaa maw-laaya kaanatil-yaw-m

50.then today toward You, my Master,

تَهْيِئَتِي وَ تَعْبِئَتِي

tah-yi-atee wataa'-bi-atee

51.is my arrangement, my making ready,

وَ إِعْدَادِي وَ اسْتِعْدَادِي

wa ia'-daadee was-tia'-daadee

52.my preparation, and my drawing up

رَجَاءَ عَفْوِكَ وَ رِفْدِكَ

rajaaa-a a'f-wika warif-dik

53.in hope of Your pardon and support

وَ طَلَبَ نَيْلِكَ وَ جَائِزَتِكَ

wa t'alaba nay-lika wa jaaa-izatik

54.and in seeking to attain to You and Your prize.

اللَّهُمَّ فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

al-laahum-ma fas'al-li a'laa muh'am-madiw-waaali muh'am-mad

55.O God, so bless Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad

وَ لَا تُخَيِّبِ الْيَوْمَ ذَلِكَ مِنْ رَجَائِي،

wa laa tukhay-yibil-yaw-ma d'alika mir-rajaaa-ee

56.and disappoint not my hope in that today!

يَا مَنْ لَا يُحْفِيهِ سَائِلٌ

yaa mal-laa yuh'-feehee saaa-il

57.O He who is not troubled by those who ask

وَ لَا يَنْقُصُهُ نَائِلٌ

wa laa yanqus'uhoo naaa-il

58.and diminished by those who attain their desire!

فَإِنِّي لَمْ آتِكَ ثِقَةً

fa in-nee lam aaatika thiqatam-min-nee

59.I come not before You trusting

مِنِّي بِعَمَلٍ صَالِحٍ قَدَّمْتُهُ

bi 'malin s'aalih'in qad-dam-tuh

60.in a righteous work I have sent ahead,

وَ لَا شَفَاعَةِ مَخْلُوقٍ رَجَوْتُهُ

wa laa shafaaa'ti makh-looqir-rajaw-tuh

61.nor in the intercession of any creature in whom I have hope,

إِلَّا شَفَاعَةَ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ أَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ

il-laa shafaaa'ta muh'am-madiw-wa ah-li bay-tih

62.except the intercession of Muhammad and the Folk of his House

عَلَيْهِ وَ عَلَيْهِمْ سَلَامُكَ

a'lay-hee wa a'lay-him salaamuk

63.(upon him and upon them be Your peace).

أَتَيْتُكَ مُقِرّاً بِالْجُرْمِ وَ الْإِسَاءَةِ إِلَى نَفْسِي

atay-tuka muqir-ram-bil-jur-mi wal-isaaa-ati ilaa naf-see

64.I come to You admitting sin and evildoing toward myself.

أَتَيْتُكَ أَرْجُو عَظِيمَ عَفْوِكَ

atay-tuka ar-joo a'z'eema a'f-wik

65.I come to You hoping for Your abounding pardon

الَّذِي عَفَوْتَ بِهِ عَنِ الْخَاطِئِينَ

al-lad'ee a'faw-ta bihee a'nil-khaat'i-een

66.through which You hast pardoned the offenders,

ثُمَّ لَمْ يَمْنَعْكَ طُولُ عُكُوفِهِمْ عَلَى عَظِيمِ الْجُرْمِ

thum-ma lam yam-naa'-ka t'oolu u'koofihim a'laa a'z'eemil-jur-mi

67.while their long persistence in dreadful sin did not prevent You

أَنْ عُدْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ بِالرَّحْمَةِ وَ الْمَغْفِرَةِ

an u't-ta a'lay-him bir-rah'-mati wal-magh-firah

68.from returning toward them with mercy and forgiveness!

فَيَا مَنْ رَحْمَتُهُ وَاسِعَةٌ

fayaa mar-rah'-matuhoo waasia'h

69.O He whose mercy is wide

وَ عَفْوُهُ عَظِيمٌ

wa a'f-wuhoo a'z'eem

70.and whose pardon is abounding!

، يَا عَظِيمُ يَا عَظِيمُ

yaa a'z'eemu yaa a'z'eem

71.O All-mighty! O All-mighty!

يَا كَرِيمُ يَا كَرِيمُ

yaa kareemu yaa kareem

72.O All-generous! O All-generous!

صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

s'al-li a'laa muh'am-madiw-waaali muh'am-mad

73.Bless Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad,

وَ عُدْ عَلَيَّ بِرَحْمَتِكَ

wa u'd a'lay-ya birah'-matik

74.return toward me through Your mercy,

وَ تَعَطَّفْ عَلَيَّ بِفَضْلِكَ

wa taa't'-t'af a'lay-ya bifaz''-lik

75.be tender toward me through Your bounty,

وَ تَوَسَّعْ عَلَيَّ بِمَغْفِرَتِكَ

wa tawas-saa' a'lay-ya bimagh-firatik

76.and spread out Your forgiveness upon me!

. اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّ هَذَا الْمَقَامَ لِخُلَفَائِكَ وَ أَصْفِيَائِكَ

al-laahum-ma in-na had'aal-maqaama likhulafaaa-ika wa as'-feeaaa-ik

77.O God, this station belongs to Your vicegerents, Your chosen,

وَ مَوَاضِعَ أُمَنَائِكَ

wa mawaaz''ia' umanaaa-ika

78.while the places of Your trusted ones

فِي الدَّرَجَةِ الرَّفِيعَةِ الَّتِي اخْتَصَصْتَهُمْ بِهَا

fid-darajatir-rafeea'til-latee akh-tas'as'-tahum bihaa

79.in the elevated degree which You hast singled out for them

قَدِ ابْتَزُّوهَا

qadi ab-taz-zoohaa

80.have been forcibly stripped!

وَ أَنْتَ الْمُقَدِّرُ لِذَلِكَ

wa antal-muqad-diru lid'alik

81.But You art the Ordainer of that -

لَا يُغَالَبُ أَمْرُكَ

laa yughaalabu am-ruk

82.Your command is not overcome,

وَ لَا يُجَاوَزُ الْمَحْتُومُ مِنْ تَدْبِيرِكَ

83.the inevitable in Your governing is not overstepped!

كَيْفَ شِئْتَ وَ أَنَّى شِئْتَ

wa laa yujaawazul-mah'-twmu min tad-beerik

84.However You willest and whenever You willest!

وَ لِمَا أَنْتَ أَعْلَمُ بِهِ

wa limaaa anta aa'-lamu bih

85.In that which You knowest best,

غَيْرُ مُتَّهَمٍ عَلَى خَلْقِكَ وَ لَا لِإِرَادَتِكَ

ghay-ru mut-tahamin a'laa khal-qika wa laa liiraadatik

86.Thou art not accused for Your creation or Your will!

حَتَّى عَادَ صِفْوَتُكَ وَ خُلَفَاؤُكَ

h'at-taa a'ada s'af-watuka wakhulafaaaw-uka -

87.Then Your selected friends, Your vicegerents,

مَغْلُوبِينَ مَقْهُورِينَ مُبْتَزِّينَ

magh-loobeena maq hooreena mub-taz-zeen

88.were overcome, vanquished, forcibly stripped;

يَرَوْنَ حُكْمَكَ مُبَدَّلًا

yaraw-n h'uk-maka mubad-dalaa

89.they see Your decree replaced,

وَ كِتَابَكَ مَنْبُوذاً

wa kitaabaka mambood'aa

90.Your Book discarded,

، وَ فَرَائِضَكَ مُحَرَّفَةً عَنْ جِهَاتِ أَشْرَاعِكَ

wa faraaa-iz''aka muh'ar-rafatan a'n jihaati ash-raai'k

91.Your obligations distorted from the aims of Your laws,

وَ سُنَنَ نَبِيِّكَ مَتْرُوكَةً

wa sunana nabee-yika mat-rookah

92.and the Sunna of Your Prophet abandoned!

اللَّهُمَّ الْعَنْ أَعْدَاءَهُمْ مِنَ الْأَوَّلِينَ وَ الْآخِرِينَ

al-laahum-mal-a'n aa'-daaa-ahum minal-aw-waleena wal-aaakhireen

93.O God, curse their enemies among those of old and the later folk,

وَ مَنْ رَضِيَ بِفِعَالِهِمْ

wa mar-raz''eea bifia'alihim-

94.and all those pleased with their acts,

وَ أَشْيَاعَهُمْ وَ أَتْبَاعَهُمْ

wa ash-yaaa'hum wa at-baaa'hum-

95.and their adherents and followers!

اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

al-laahum-ma s'al-li a'laa muh'am-madiw-waaali muh'am-mad

96.O God, bless Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad

إِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ

in-naka h'ameedum-majeed

97.(surely You art All-laudable, All-glorious)

كَصَلَوَاتِكَ وَ بَرَكَاتِكَ وَ تَحِيَّاتِكَ

kas'alawaatika wa barakaatika wa tah'ee-yaatika

98.like Your blessing, benedictions, and salutations

عَلَى أَصْفِيَائِكَ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَ آلِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ

a'laaa as'-feeaaa-ika ib-raaheema wa aaali ib-raaheem

99.upon Your chosen Abraham and the people of Abraham!

وَ عَجِّلِ الْفَرَجَ

wa a'j-jilil-farja

100.And hasten for them relief,

وَ الرَّوْحَ وَ النُّصْرَةَ وَ التَّمْكِينَ وَ التَّأْيِيدَ لَهُمْ

war-raw-h'a wan-nus'-rata wat-tam-keena wat-taa-yeeda lahum-

101.ease, help, strengthening,and confirmation!

اللَّهُمَّ وَ اجْعَلْنِي

al-laahum-ma waj-a'l-nee

102.O God, and make me

مِنْ أَهْلِ التَّوْحِيدِ

min ah-lat-taw-h'eedi

103.one of the people who profess Your Unity,

وَ الْإِيمَانِ بِكَ

walee-maani bik

104.have faith in You,

وَ التَّصْدِيقِ بِرَسُولِكَ

wat-tas'-deeqi birasoolika

105.and attest to Your Messenger

وَ الْأَئِمَّةِ الَّذِينَ حَتَمْتَ طَاعَتَهُمْ

wal-a-im-matil-lad'eena h'atam-ta t'aaa'tahum

106.and the Imams toward whom You hast enjoined obedience,

مِمَّنْ يَجْرِي ذَلِكَ بِهِ وَ عَلَى يَدَيْهِ

mim-may-yaj-ree d'alika bihee waa'laa yaday-h

107.and one of those through whom and at whose hands this takes place!

آمِينَ رَبَّ الْعَالَمِينَ

aaameena rab-bal-a'alameen

108.Amen, Lord of the worlds!

اللَّهُمَّ لَيْسَ يَرُدُّ غَضَبَكَ إِلَّا حِلْمُكَ

al-laahum-malay-sa yarud-du ghaz''abaka il-laa h'il-muk

109.O God, nothing repels Your wrath but Your clemency,

، وَ لَا يَرُدُّ سَخَطَكَ إِلَّا عَفْوُكَ

wa laa yarud-du sakhat'aka il-laa a'f-wuk

110.nothing repels Your displeasure but Your pardon,

وَ لا يُجِيرُ مِنْ عِقَابِكَ إِلَّا رَحْمَتُكَ

wa laa yujeeru min i'qaabika il-laa rah'-matuk

111.nothing grants sanctuary from Your punishment but Your mercy,

وَ لَا يُنْجِينِي مِنْكَ

wa laa yunjeenee minka

112.and nothing will deliver me from You

إِلَّا التَّضَرُّعُ إِلَيْكَ وَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْكَ

minka il-laat-taz''ar-ruu' ilay-ka wa bay-na yaday-k

113.except pleading to You before You,

فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

fas'al-li a'laa muh'am-madiw-wa aaali muh'am-mad

114.so bless Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad,

وَ هَبْ لَنَا يَا إِلَهِي مِنْ لَدُنْكَ فَرَجاً

wa hab lanaa yaaa ilaahee mil-ladunka farajan

115.and give us on Your part, my God, relief

بِالْقُدْرَةِالَّتِي بِهَا تُحْيِي أَمْوَاتَ الْعِبَادِ

bil-qud-ratil-latee bihaa tuh'-eeey am-waatal-i'baad

116.by means of the power through which You bringest the dead servants to life

وَ بِهَا تَنْشُرُ مَيْتَ الْبِلَادِ

wa bihaa tanshuru may-tal-bilaad

117.and revivest the dead lands.

. وَ لَا تُهْلِكْنِي يَا إِلَهِي غَمّاً

wa laa tuh-lik-nee yaaa ilaahee gham-man

118.Destroy me not through gloom, my God,

حَتَّى تَسْتَجِيبَ لِي

h'at-taa tas-tajeeba lee

119.before You respondest to me

وَ تُعَرِّفَنِي الْإِجَابَةَ فِي دُعَائِي

wa tua'r-rifaneel-ijaabata fee dua'aa-ee

120.and givest me the knowledge of Your response to my supplication!

وَ أَذِقْنِي طَعْمَ الْعَافِيَةِ إِلَى مُنْتَهَى أَجَلِي

wa ad'iq-nee t'aa'-mal-a'afeeati ilaa muntahaaa ajalee

121.Let me taste the flavour of well-being to the end of my term!

وَ لَا تُشْمِتْ بِي عَدُوِّي

wa laa tush-mit bee a'doo-wee

122.And let not my enemy gloat over me,

وَ لَا تُمَكِّنْهُ مِنْ عُنُقِي

wa laa tumak-kin-hoo min u'nuqee

123.place not my neck in his power,

وَ لَا تُسَلِّطْهُ عَلَيَّ

wa laa tusal-lit'-hoo a'lay

124.and give him not authority over me!

إِلَهِي إِنْ رَفَعْتَنِي

ilaaheee ir-rafaa'-tanee

125.My God, if You raisest me up,

فَمَنْ ذَا الَّذِي يَضَعُنِي

d'aal-lad'ee yaz''au'nee?

126.who is there to push me down?

وَ إِنْ وَضَعْتَنِي

d'aal-lad'ee yaz''au'nee?

127.If You pushest me down,

فَمَنْ ذَا الَّذِي يَرْفَعُنِي

faman d'aal-lad'ee yar-fau'nee?

128.who is there to raise me up?

وَ إِنْ أَكْرَمْتَنِي

wa in ak-ram-tanee

129.If You honourest me,

فَمَنْ ذَا الَّذِي يُهِينُنِي

d'aal-lad'ee yuheenunee?

130.who is there to humiliate me?

وَ إِنْ أَهَنْتَنِي

wa in ahantanee

131.If You humiliatest me,

فَمَنْ ذَا الَّذِي يُكْرِمُنِي

faman d'aal-lad'ee yuk-rimunee?

132.who is there to honour me?

وَ إِنْ عَذَّبْتَنِي

wa in a'd'-d'ab-tanee

133.If You chastisest me,

فَمَنْ ذَا الَّذِي يَرْحَمُنِي

faman d'aal-lad'ee yar-h'amunee?

134.who is there to have mercy upon me?

وَ إِنْ أَهْلَكْتَنِي

wa in ah-lak-tanee

135.If You destroyest me,

فَمَنْ ذَا الَّذِي يَعْرِضُ لَكَ فِي عَبْدِكَ

faman d'aal-lad'ee yaa'-riz''u laka fee a'b-dika

136.who is there to stand up for Your servant against You

أَوْ يَسْأَلُكَ عَنْ أَمْرِهِ

aw yasalukaa a'n am-rihi?

137.or ask You about his affair?

وَ قَدْ عَلِمْتُ أَنَّهُ لَيْسَ فِي حُكْمِكَ ظُلْمٌ

waqad a'lim-tu an-nahoolay-sa fee h'uk-mika z'ul-m

138.But I know that there is no wrong in Your decree

وَ لَا فِي نَقِمَتِكَ عَجَلَةٌ

wa laa fee naqimatika a'jalah

139.and no hurry in Your vengeance.

وَ إِنَّمَا يَعْجَلُ مَنْ يَخَافُ الْفَوْتَ

wa in-namaa yaa'-jalu may-yakhaaful-faw-t

140.He alone hurries who fears to miss,

وَ إِنَّمَا يَحْتَاجُ إِلَى الظُّلْمِ الضَّعِيفُ

wa in-namaa yah'-taaju ilaaz'-z'ul-miz''-z''ae'ef

141.and only the weak needs to wrong.

وَ قَدْ تَعَالَيْتَ يَا إِلَهِي

wa qad t-taa'alay-ta yaaa ilaahee

142.But You art exalted, my God,

عَنْ ذَلِكَ عُلُوّاً كَبِيراً

a'n d'alika u'loo-wana kabeeraa

143.high indeed above all that!

اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

al-laahum-ma s'al-li a'laa muh'am-madiw-waaali muh'am-mad

144.O God, bless Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad,

وَ لَا تَجْعَلْنِي لِلْبَلَاءِ غَرَضاً

wa laa taj-a'l-nee lil-balaaa-i gharaz''aa

145.make me not the target of affliction

، وَ لَا لِنَقِمَتِكَ نَصَباً

wa laa linaq-matika nas'abaa

146.nor the object of Your vengeance,

وَ مَهِّلْنِي، وَ نَفِّسْنِي

wa mah-hil-nee wa naf-fis-nee

147.respite me, comfort me,

وَ أَقِلْنِي عَثْرَتِي

wa aqil-nee a'th-ratee

148.release me from my stumble,

وَ لَا تَبْتَلِيَنِّي بِبَلَاءٍ

wa laa tab-taleean-nee bibalaaa-in

149.and afflict me not with an affliction

عَلَى أَثَرِ بَلَاءٍ

a'laaa athari balaaa

150.in the wake of an affliction,

فَقَدْ تَرَى ضَعْفِي

faqad t-taraa z''aa'-fee

151.for You hast seen my frailty,

وَ قِلَّةَ حِيلَتِي

wa qil-lata h'eelatee

152.the paucity of my stratagems,

وَ تَضَرُّعِي إِلَيْكَ

wa taz''ar-rue'ey ilay-k

153.and my pleading to You!

أَعُوذُ بِكَ اللَّهُمَّ الْيَوْمَ مِنْ غَضَبِكَ

au'wd'u bikal-laahum-mal-yaw-ma min ghaz''abik

154.I seek refuge in You today, my God, from Your wrath,

فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ وَ أَعِذْنِي.

fas'al-li a'laa muh'am-madiw-waaalihee wa ai'd'-nee

155.so bless Muhammad and his Household and give me refuge!

، وَ أَسْتَجِيرُ بِكَ الْيَوْمَ مِنْ سَخَطِكَ

wa as-tajeeru bikal-yaw-ma min sakhat'ik

156.I seek sanctuary in You today from Your displeasure,

فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ وَ أَجِرْنِي

fas'al-li a'laa muh'am-madiw-waaalihee wa ajir-nee

157.so bless Muhammad and his Household, and give me sanctuary!

وَ أَسْأَلُكَ أَمْناً مِنْ عَذَابِكَ

wa as-aluka am-nam-min a'd'aabik

158.I ask You security from Your chastisement,

فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ، وَ آمِنِّي

salle ala mohmmadan wa aale muhammad

159.so bless Muhammad and his Household, and give me security!

وَ أَسْتَهْدِيكَ

wa as-tah-deek

160.I seek guidance from You,

فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ وَ اهْدِنِي

fas'ali a'laa muh'am-madiw-wa aaalihee wah-dinee

161.so bless Muhammad and his Household and guide me!

وَ أَسْتَنْصِرُكَ

wa as-tans'iruk

162.I seek help from You,

فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ، وَ انْصُرْنِي

fas'al-li a'laa muh'am-madiw-waaalihee waans'ur-nee

163.so bless Muhammad and his Household and help me!

وَ أَسْتَرْحِمُكَ

wa as-tar-h'imuk

164.I ask You for mercy,

فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ، وَ ارْحَمْنِي

fas'al-li a'laa muh'am-madiw-wa aaalihee war-h'am-nee

165.so bless Muhammad and his Household and have mercy upon me!

وَ أَسْتَكْفِيكَ

wa as-tak-feek

166.I seek sufficiency from You,

فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ، وَ اكْفِنِي

fas'al-li a'laa muh'am-madiw-wa aaalihee wak-finee

167.so bless Muhammad and his Household and suffice me!

وَ أَسْتَرْزِقُكَ

wa as-tar-ziquka

168.I seek provision from You,

فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ، وَ ارْزُقْنِي

fas'al-li a'laa muh'am-madiw-wa aaalihee war-zuq-nee

169.so bless Muhammad and his Household and provide for me!

وَ أَسْتَعِينُكَ

wa as-tae'enuk

170.I seek assistance from You,

فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ وَ أَعِنِّي

fas'al-li a'laa muh'am-madiw-wa aaalihee wa ai'n-nee

171.so bless Muhammad and his Household and assist me!

وَ أَسْتَغْفِرُكَ لِمَا سَلَفَ مِنْ ذُنُوبِي

wa astagh-firuka limaa salafa min d'unoobee

172.I pray forgiveness for my past sins,

فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ، وَ اغْفِرْ لِي

fas'al-li a'laa muh'am-madiw-wa aaalihee wagh-fir lee

173.so bless Muhammad and his Household and forgive me!

وَ أَسْتَعْصِمُكَ

wa as-taa'-s'imuk

174.I ask You to preserve me from sin,

فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ، وَ اعْصِمْنِي

fas'al-li a'laa muh'am-madiw-wa aaalihee waa'-s'im-nee

175.so bless Muhammad and his Household and preserve me,

فَإِنِّي لَنْ أَعُودَ لِشَيْ‏ءٍ كَرِهْتَهُ مِنِّي إِنْ شِئْتَ ذَلِكَ

fa in-nee lan au'wda lishay-in karih-tahoo min-nee in shi-ta d'alik

176.for I will not return to anything You dislikest from me, if You willest that!

يَا رَبِّ يَا رَبِّ، يَا حَنَّانُ يَا مَنَّانُ

yaa rab-bi yaa rab yaa h'an-naanu yaa man-naan

177.My Lord! My Lord! O All-loving! O All-kind!

يَا ذَا الْجَلَالِ وَ الْإِكْرَامِ

yaa d'aal-jalaali wal-ik-raam

178.O Possessor of majesty and munificence!

صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ

s'al-li a'laa muh'am-madiw-wa aaalih

179.Bless Muhammad and his Household,

وَ اسْتَجِبْ لِي جَمِيعَ

was-tajib lee jameea'

180.and grant me everything

مَا سَأَلْتُكَ وَ طَلَبْتُ إِلَيْكَ

maa saal-tuka wat'alab-tu ilay-ka

181.that I ask from You, seek from You,

وَ رَغِبْتُ فِيهِ إِلَيْكَ

wa raghib-tu feeheee ilay-k

182.and beseech from You!

وَ أَرِدْهُ وَ قَدِّرْهُ وَ اقْضِهِ وَ أَمْضِهِ

wa arid-hoo wa qad-dir-hoo wa aq-z''ihee wa am-z''ih

183.Will it, ordain it, decree it, and accomplish it!

وَ خِرْ لِي فِيمَا تَقْضِي مِنْه

wa khir lee feemaa taq-z''ee min-h

184.Give me good in that of it which You decreest!

وَ بَارِكْ لِي فِي ذَلِكَ

wa baarik lee fee d'alik

185.Bless me in that,

وَ تَفَضَّلْ عَلَيَّ بِهِ

wa tafaz''-z''al a'lay-ya bih

186.be gratuitously bountiful toward me through it,

وَ أَسْعِدْنِي بِمَا تُعْطِينِي مِنْهُ

wa as-i'd-nee bimaa tua'-t'eenee min-h

187.make me happy in that of it which You givest to me,

وَ زِدْنِي مِنْ فَضْلِكَ

wa zid-nee min faz''-lika

188.and increase me in Your bounty

وَ سَعَةِ مَا عِنْدَكَ

wa saa'ti maa i'ndak

189.and the plenty of what is with You,

فَإِنَّكَ وَاسِعٌ كَرِيمٌ

fa in-naka waasiu'n kareem

190.for You art Boundless, Generous!

وَ صِلْ ذَلِكَ بِخَيْرِ الْآخِرَةِ وَ نَعِيمِهَا

wa s'il d'alika bikhay-ril-aaakhirati wa nae'emihaa

191.And link that to the good and the bliss of the next world,

يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ

yaaa ar-h'amar-raah'imeen

192.O Most Merciful of the merciful!

تَدْعُو بِمَا بَدَا لَكَ، وَ تُصَلِّي عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ أَلْفَ مَرَّةٍ هَكَذَا كَانَ يَفْعَلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ

then you supplicate as seems proper to you and you call down blessings on muhammed and his household one thousand times. this is what he used to do (upon him be peace).
