Ziarat Ghair Maroof

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا بْنَ رَسُولِ ٱللَّهِ

alssalamu `alayka yabna rasuli allahi

Peace be upon you, O son of Allah’s Messenger.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا بْنَ ٱلْبَشِيرِ ٱلنَّذِيرِ

alssalamu `alayka yabna albashiri alnnadhiri

Peace be upon you, O son of the bearer of glad tidings and the warner

وَٱبْنَ سَيِّدِ ٱلْوَصِيِّينَ

wabna sayyidi alwasiyyina

and son of the chief of the Prophets’ successors.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا بْنَ فَاطِمَةَ

alssalamu `alayka yabna fatimata

Peace be upon you, O son of Fatimah

سَيِّدَةِ نِسَاءِ ٱلْعَالَمِينَ

sayyidati nisa'i al`alamina

the doyenne of the women of the worlds.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا خِيَرَةِ ٱللَّهِ وَٱبْنَ خِيَرَتِهِ

alssalamu `alayka ya khiyarata allahi wabna khiyaratihi

Peace be upon you, O choicest of Allah and son of His choicest.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا ثَارَ ٱللَّهِ وَٱبْنَ ثَارِهِ

alssalamu `alayka ya thara allahi wabna tharihi

Peace be upon you, O vengeance of Allah and son of His vengeance.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ أَيُّهَا ٱلْوِتْرُ ٱلْمَوْتُورُ

alssalamu `alayka ayyuha alwitru almawturu

Peace be upon you, O he who has not been avenged so far.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ أَيُّهَا ٱلإِمَامُ ٱلْهَادِي ٱلزَّكِيُّ

alssalamu `alayka ayyuha al-imamu alhadi alzzakiyyu

Peace be upon you, O guide and pure leader,

وَعَلَىٰ أَرْوَاحٍ حَلَّتْ بِفَنَائِكَ

wa `ala arwahin hallat bifina'ika

and upon souls that gathered in your courtyard,

وَأَقَامَتْ فِي جَوَارِكَ

wa aqamat fi jiwarika

resided in your vicinity,

وَوَفَدَتْ مَعَ زُوَّارِكَ

wa wafadat ma`a zuwwarika

and came with your visitors.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ مِنِّي مَا بَقيتُ وَبَقِيَ ٱللَّيْلُ وَٱلنَّهَارُ

alssalamu `alayka minni ma baqitu wa baqiya allaylu walnnaharu

Peace be upon you from me as long as I am existent and as long as there are day and night.

فَلَقَدْ عَظُمَتْ بِكَ ٱلرَّزِيَّةُ

falaqad `azumat bika alrraziyyatu

Unbearable is the commiseration for you

وَجَلَّتْ فِي ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَٱلْمُسْلِمِينَ

wa jallat fi almu'minina walmuslimina

and gross is it for the believers, Muslims,

وَفِي أَهْلِ ٱلسَّمَاوَاتِ وَأَهْلِ ٱلأَرَضِينَ أَجْمَعِينَ

wa fi ahli alssamawati wa ahli al-aradina ajma`ina

and for all the inhabitants of the heavens and the layers of the earth.

فَإِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ

fa'inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji`una

So, we are Allah’s and to Him shall we return.

صَلَوَاتُ ٱللَّهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ وَتَحِيَّاتُهُ

salawatu allahi wa barakatuhu wa tahiyyatuhu

Allah’s benedictions, blessings, and greetings

عَلَيْكَ يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْحُسَيْنُ

`alayka ya aba `abdillahi alhusayni

be upon you, O Abu-`Abdullah al-Husayn,

وَعَلَىٰ آبَائِكَ ٱلطَّيِّبِينَ ٱلْمُنْتَجَبِينَ

wa `ala aba'ika alttayyibina almuntajabina

upon your fathers the immaculate and finely selected,

وَعَلَىٰ ذُرِّيَّاتِكُمُ ٱلْهُدَاةِ ٱلْمَهْدِيِّينَ

wa `ala dhurriyyatikum alhudati almahdiyyina

and upon your offspring the guide and well-guided.

لَعَنَ ٱللَّهُ أُمَّةً خَذَلَتْكَ

la`ana allahu ummatan khadhalatka

May Allah curse the people who disappointed you

وَتَرَكَتْ نُصْرَتَكَ وَمَعُونَتَكَ

wa tarakat nusrataka wa ma`unataka

and abstained from supporting and aiding you.

وَلَعَنَ ٱللَّهُ أُمَّةً أَسَّسَتْ أَسَاسَ ٱلظُّلْمِ لَكُمْ

wa la`ana allahu ummatan assasat asasa alzzulmi lakum

May Allah curse the people who laid the basis of persecution against you,

وَمَهَّدَتِ ٱلْجَوْرَ عَلَيْكُمْ

wa mahhadat aljawra `alaykum

paved the way for transgression against you,

وَطَرَّقَتْ إِلَىٰ أَذِيَّتِكُمْ وَتَحَيُّفِكُمْ

wa tarraqat ila adhiyyatikum wa tahayyufikum

opened the way towards injuring and wronging you,

وَجَارَتْ ذٰلِكَ فِي دِيَارِكُمْ وَأَشْيَاعِكُمْ

wa jarat dhalika fi diyarikum wa ashya`ikum

and spread so in your lands and against your adherents.

بَرِئْتُ إِلَىٰ ٱللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَإِلَيْكُمْ

bari'tu ila allahi `azza wa jalla wa ilaykum

I declare my repudiation in the presence of Allah the Almighty and All-majestic, and in the presence of you,

يَا سَادَاتِي وَمَوَالِيَّ وَأَئِمَّتِي

ya sadati wa mawaliyya wa a'immati

O my masters, chiefs, and leaders,

مِنْهُمْ وَمِنْ أَشْيَاعِهِمْ وَأَتْبَاعِهِمْ

minhum wa min ashya`ihim wa atba`ihim

from them, their adherents, and their followers.

وَسْأَلُ ٱللَّهَ ٱلَّذِي أَكْرَمَ يَا مَوَالِيَّ مَقَامَكُمْ

wa as'alu allaha alladhi akrama ya mawaliyya maqamakum

And I beseech Allah Who has honored your position, O my chiefs,

وَشَرَّفَ مَنْزِلَتَكُمْ وَشَأْنَكُمْ

wa sharrafa manzilatakum wa sha'nakum

and enhanced your status and standing,

أَنْ يُكْرِمَنِي بِوِلاَيَتِكُمْ وَمَحَبَّتِكُمْ وَٱلٱِئْتِمَامِ بِكُمْ

an yukrimani biwilayatikum wa mahabbatikum wali'timami bikum

to endue me with the honor of being loyal to you, bearing love for you, choosing you as my leaders,

وَبِٱلْبَرَاءَةِ مِنْ أَعْدَائِكُمْ

wa bilbara'ati min a`da'ikum

and declaring repudiation from your enemies.

وَأَسْأَلُ ٱللَّهَ ٱلْبَرَّ ٱلرَّحِيمَ أَنْ يَرْزُقَنِي مَوَدَّتَكُمْ

wa as'alu allaha albarra alrrahima an yarzuqani mawaddatakum

And I beseech Allah the Benign and Merciful to endow upon me with fondness of you,

وَأَنْ يُوَفِّقَنِي لِلطَّلَبِ بِثَارِكُمْ

wa an yuwaffiqani lilttalabi bitharikum

to grant me success of demanding with your vengeance

مَعَ ٱلإِمَامِ ٱلْمُنْتَظَرِ ٱلْهَادِي مِنْ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

ma`a al-imami almuntazari alhadi min ali muhammadin

with the awaited and guiding leader from the Household of Muhammad,

وَأَنْ يَجْعَلَنِي مَعَكُمْ فِي ٱلدُّنْيَا وَٱلآخِرَةِ

wa an yaj`alani ma`akum fi alddunya wal-akhirati

to include me with you in this world and the Hereafter,

وَأَنْ يُبَلِّغَنِيَ ٱلْمَقَامَ ٱلْمَحْمُودَ لَكُمْ عِنْدَ ٱللَّهِ

wa an yuballighani almaqama almahmuda lakum `inda allahi

and to make me attain the praiseworthy position that you enjoy with Allah.

وَأَسْأَلُ ٱللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ بِحَقِّكُمْ

wa as'alu allaha `azza wa jalla bihaqqikum

And I beseech Allah the Almighty and All-majestic, in the name of your right

وَبِٱلشَّأْنِ ٱلَّذِي جَعَلَ ٱللَّهُ لَكُمْ

wa bilshsha'ni alladhi ja`ala allahu lakum

and in the name of the status that you enjoy with Him,

أَنْ يُعْطِيَنِي بِمُصَابِي بِكُمْ

an yu`tiyani bimusabi bikum

to grant me, on account of my commiseration for you,

أَفْضَلَ مَا أَعْطَىٰ مُصَاباً بِمُصيبَةٍ

afdala ma a`ta musaban bimusibatin

the most favorable of that which He has ever granted to any one afflicted with a misfortune.

إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ

inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji`una

To Allah do we belong and to Him shall we return.

يَا لَهَا مِنْ مُصيبَةٍ

ya laha min musibatin

What a terrible misfortune it was;

مَا أَفْجَعَهَا وَأَنْكَاهَا لِقُلُوبِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَٱلْمُسْلِمينَ

ma afja`aha wa ankaha liqulubi almu'minina walmuslimina

how a calamitous and painful misfortune it was for the hearts of the believers and Muslims.

فَإِنَا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ

fa'inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji`una

So, to Allah do we belong and to His shall we return.

اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

allahumma salli `ala muhammadin wa ali muhammadin

O Allah, (please) send blessings upon Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad

وَٱجْعَلْنِي فِي مَقَامِي

waj`alni fi maqami

and make me, in this situation of mine,

مِمَّنْ تَنَالُهُ مِنْكَ صَلَوَاتٌ وَرَحْمَةٌ وَمَغْفِرَةٌ

mimman tanaluhu minka salawatun wa rahmatun wa maghfiratun

one of those who receive blessings, mercy, and forgiveness from You

وَٱجْعَلْنِي عِنْدَكَ وَجِيهاً

waj`alni `indaka wajihan

and make me worthy of regard with You

فِي ٱلدُّنْيَا وَٱلآخِرَةِ وَمِنَ ٱلْمُقَرَّبِينَ

fi alddunya wal-akhirati wa min almuqarrabina

in this world and in the Hereafter and of those drawn near to You,

فَإِنِّي أَتَقَرَّبُ إِلَيْكَ بِمُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

fa'inni ataqarrabu ilayka bimuhammadin wa ali muhammadin

for I seek nearness to You through Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad,

صَلَوَاتُكَ عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَيْهِمْ أَجْمَعِينَ

salawatuka `alayhi wa `alayhim ajma`ina

Your blessings be upon him and upon all of them.

اَللَّهُمَّ وَإِنِّي أَتَوَسَّلُ وَأَتَوَجَّهُ

allahumma wa inni atawassalu wa atawajjahu

O Allah, I also choose as means to You and I turn my face towards You

بِصَفْوَتِكَ مِنْ خَلْقِكَ

bisafwatika min khalqika

in the name of Your select from among Your creatures

وَخِيَرَتِكَ مِنْ خَلْقِكَ

wa khiyaratika min khalqika

and Your elite from Your beings;

مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلِيٍّ وَٱلطَّيِّبِينَ مِنْ ذُرِّيَّتِهِمَا

muhammadin wa `aliyyin walttayyibina min dhurriyyatihima

namely, Muhammad, `Ali, and the immaculate ones from their offspring.

اَللَّهُمَّ فَصَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

allahumma fasalli `ala muhammadin wa ali muhammadin

So, O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad,

وَٱجْعَلْ مَحْيَايَ مَحْيَاهُمْ

waj`al mahyaya mahyahum

decide my lifestyle to be the same as theirs

وَمَمَاتِي مَمَاتَهُمْ

wa mamati mamatahum

and my death to be the same as theirs,

وَلاَ تُفَرِّقْ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَهُمْ

wa la tufarriq bayni wa baynahum

and never separate me from them

فِي ٱلدُّنْيَا وَٱلآخِرَةِ

fi alddunya wal-akhirati

in this world and in the Hereafter.

إِنَّكَ سَمِيعُ ٱلدُّعَاءِ

innaka sami`u alddu`a'i

You are verily Hearer of prayers.

اَللَّهُمَّ وَهٰذَا يَوْمٌ تُجَدَّدُ فِيهِ ٱلنِّقْمَةُ

allahumma wa hadha yawmun tajaddada fihi alnniqmatu

O Allah, on this day, imprecation is renewed

وَتُنَزَّلَ فِيهِ ٱللَّعْنَةُ

wa tunazzalu fihi alla`natu

and curses are poured down

عَلَىٰ ٱللَّعينِ يَزِيدَ وَعَلَىٰ آلِ يَزِيدَ

`ala alla`ini yazida wa `ala ali yazida

on the accursed Yazid and on the family of Yazid

وَعَلَىٰ آلِ زِيَادٍ وَعُمَرَ بْنِ سَعْدٍ وَٱلشِّمْرِ

wa `ala ali ziyadin wa `umara bni sa`din walshshimri

as well as on the family of Ziyad, `Umar ibn Sa`d, and al-Shimr.

اَللَّهُمَّ ٱلْعَنْهُمْ وَٱلْعَنْ مَنْ رَضِيَ بِقَوْلِهِمْ وَفِعْلِهِمْ

allahumma il`anhum wal`an man radiya biqawlihim wa fi`lihim

O Allah, pour curses upon them all and upon him who has approved of their words and deeds

مِنْ أَوَّلٍ وَآخِرٍ لَعْناً كَثيراً

min awwalin wa akhirin la`nan kathiran

from the past and the last generations; (and pour down on them) copious curses,

وَأَصْلِهِمْ حَرَّ نَارِكَ

wa aslihim harra narika

expose them to the heat of Your Fire,

وَأَسْكِنْهُمْ جَهَنَّمَ وَسَاءَتْ مَصيراً

wa askinhum jahannama wa sa'at masiran

and lodge them in Hellfire; and how an evil destiny it is,

وَأَوْجِبْ عَلَيْهِمْ وَعَلَىٰ كُلِّ مَنْ شَايَعَهُمْ

wa awjib `alayhim wa `ala kulli man shaya`ahum

disclose (Your chastisement) to them and to all those who adhered to them,

وَبَايَعَهُمْ وَتَابَعَهُمْ وَسَاعَدَهُمْ

wa baya`ahum wa taba`ahum wa sa`adahum

paid homage to them, patterned after them, helped them,

وَرَضِيَ بِفِعْلِهِمْ

wa radiya bifi`lihim

and approved of their deeds;

وَٱفْتَحْ لَهُمْ وَعَلَيْهِمْ

waftah lahum wa `alayhim

and lay open to them and on them

وَعَلَىٰ كُلِّ مَنْ رَضِيَ بِذٰلِكَ

wa `ala kulli man radiya bidhalika

as well as on every one who has approved of that deed of them

لَعَنَاتِكَ ٱلَّتِي لَعَنْتَ بِهَا كُلَّ ظَالِمٍ

la`anatika allati la`anta biha kulla zalimin

Your curses with which You have cursed all wrongdoers,

وَكُلَّ غَاصِبٍ وَكُلَّ جَاحِدٍ

wa kulla ghasibin wa kulla jahidin

all usurpers, all deniers,

وَكُلَّ كَافِرٍ وَكُلَّ مُشْرِكٍ

wa kulla kafirin wa kulla mushrikin

all unbelievers, all polytheists,

وَكُلَّ شَيْطَانٍ رَجِيمٍ وَكُلَّ جَبَّارٍ عَنِيدٍ

wa kulla shaytanin rajimin wa kulla jabbarin `anidin

all accursed devils, and all obstinate potentates.

اَللَّهُمَّ ٱلْعَنْ يَزِيدَ وَآلَ يَزِيدَ

allahumma il`an yazida wa ala yazida

O Allah, pour curses upon Yazid, the family of Yazid,

وَبَنِي مَرْوَانَ جَمِيعاً

wa bani marwana jami`an

and all the descendants of Marwan.

اَللَّهُمَّ وَضَعِّفْ غَضَبَكَ وَسَخَطَكَ

allahumma wa da``if ghadabaka wa sakhataka

O Allah, multiply Your wrath, ire,

وَعَذَابَكَ وَنَقِمَتَكَ

wa `adhabaka wa naqimataka

torment, and chastisement

عَلَىٰ أَوَّلِ ظَالِمٍ ظَلَمَ أَهْلَ بَيْتِ نَبِيِّكَ

`ala awwali zalimin zalama ahla bayti nabiyyika

for the first transgressor who wronged the Household of Your Prophet.

اَللَّهُمَّ وَٱلْعَنْ جَمِيعَ ٱلظَّالِمينَ لَهُمْ

allahumma wal`an jami`a alzzalimina lahum

O Allah, pour curses upon all those who persecuted them

وَٱنْتَقِمْ مِنْهُمْ

wantaqim minhum

and (please) expose them to Your chastisement.

إِنَّكَ ذوُ نِقْمَة مِنَ ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ

innaka dhu niqmatin min almujrimina

Verily, You inevitably chastise the criminals.

اَللَّهُمَّ وَٱلْعَنْ أَوَّلَ ظَالِمٍ ظَلَمَ آلَ بَيْتِ مُحَمَّدٍ

allahumma wal`an awwala zalimin zalama ala bayti muhammadin

O Allah, pour curses upon the foremost transgressor who wronged the members of Muhammad’s household,

وَٱلْعَنْ أَرْوَاحَهُمْ وَدِيَارَهُمْ وَقُبُورَهُمْ

wal`an arwahahum wa diyarahum wa quburahum

and (pour curses) upon their souls, abodes, and graves;

وَٱلْعَنِ ٱللَّهُمَّ ٱلْعِصَابَةَ ٱلَّتِي نَازَلَتِ ٱلْحُسَيْنَ

wal`an illahumma al`isabata allati nazalat alhusayna

and pour curses, O Allah, upon the gang who encountered al-Husayn

ٱبْنَ بِنْتَ نَبِيِّكَ

ibna binti nabiyyika

the son of Your Prophet’s daughter

وَحَارَبَتْهُ وَقَتَلَتْ أَصْحَابَهُ وَأَنْصَارَهُ

wa harabat-hu wa qatalat ashabahu wa ansarahu

and who fought against him and killed his companions, supporters,

وَأَعْوَانَهُ وَأَوْلِيَاءَهُ

wa a`wanahu wa awliya'ahu

aides, loyalists,

وَشيعَتَهُ وَمُحِبِّيهِ

wa shi`atahu wa muhibbihi

adherents, lovers,

وَأَهْلَ بَيْتِهِ وَذُرِّيَّتَهُ

wa ahla baytihi wa dhurriyyatahu

household, and progeny.

وَٱلْعَنِ ٱللَّهُمَّ ٱلَّذِينَ نَهَبُوٱ مَالَهُ

wal`an illahumma alladhina nahabu malahu

And also pour curses, O Allah, upon those who robbed his possessions,

وَسَلَبُوٱ حَرِيـمَهُ

wa salabu harimahu

despoiled his women,

وَلَمْ يَسْمَعُوٱ كَلاَمَهُ وَلاَ مَقَالَهُ

wa lam yasma`u kalamahu wa la maqalahu

and did not listen to his words and discourse.

اَللَّهُمَّ وَٱلْعَنْ كُلَّ مَنْ بَلَغَهُ ذٰلِكَ فَرَضِيَ بِهِ

allahumma wal`an kulla man balaghahu dhalika faradiya bihi

O Allah, pour curses upon every one who, when informed about that, was pleased with it

مِنَ ٱلأَوَّلِينَ وَٱلآخِرِينَ

min al-awwalina wal-akhirina

from the past and the last generations

وَٱلْخَلاَئِقِ أَجْمَعِينَ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ ٱلدِّينِ

walkhala'iqi ajma`ina ila yawmi alddini

and from all the creatures up to the Judgment Day.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْحُسَيْنُ

alssalamu `alayka ya aba `abdillahi alhusaynu

Peace be upon you, O Abu-`Abdullah al-Husayn

وَعَلَىٰ مَنْ سَاعَدَكَ وَعَاوَنَكَ

wa `ala man sa`adaka wa `awanaka

and upon those who helped and aided you

وَوَاسَاكَ بِنَفْسِهِ وَبَذَلَ مُهْجَتَهُ فِي ٱلذَّبِّ عَنْكَ

wa wasaka binafsihi wa badhala muhjatahu fi aldhdhabbi `anka

and those who offered themselves for you and sacrificed their souls in defense of you.

السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا مَوْلاَيَ وَعَلَيْهِمْ

alssalamu `alayka ya mawlaya wa `alayhim

Peace be upon you O my master, upon them,

وَعَلَىٰ رُوحِكَ وَعَلَىٰ أَرْوَاحِهِمْ

wa `ala ruhika wa `ala arwahihim

upon your souls, upon their souls,

وَعَلَىٰ تُرْبَتِكَ وَعَلَىٰ تُرْبَتِهِمْ

wa `ala turbatika wa `ala turbatihim

upon your soil, and upon their soils.

اَللَّهُمَّ لَقِّهِمْ رَحْمَةً وَرِضْوَاناً

allahumma laqqihim rahmatan wa ridwanan

O Allah, (please) make them find mercy, pleasure,

وَرَوْحاً وَرَيْحَاناً

wa rawhan wa rayhanan

happiness, and bounty.

السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا مَوْلاَيَ يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ ٱللَّهِ

alssalamu `alayka ya mawlaya ya aba `abdillahi

Peace be upon you, O my master Abu-`Abdullah,

يَا بْنَ خَاتَمِ ٱلنَّبِيِّينَ

yabna khatami alnnabiyyina

O son of the seal of the Prophets,

وَيَا بْنَ سَيِّدِ ٱلْوَصِيِّينَ

wa yabna sayyidi alwasiyyina

O son of the chief of the Prophets’ successors,

وَيَا بْنَ سَيِّدَةِ نِسَاءِ ٱلْعَالَمِينَ

wa yabna sayyidati nisa'i al`alamina

O son of the doyenne of the women of the worlds.

السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا شَهِيدُ يَا بْنَ ٱلشَّهِيدِ

alssalamu `alayka ya shahidu yabna alshshahidi

Peace be upon you, O martyr and son of the martyr.

اَللَّهُمَّ بَلِّغْهُ عَنِّي فِي هٰذِهِ ٱلسَّاعَةِ

allahumma ballighhu `anni fi hadhihi alssa`ati

O Allah, convey at this very hour,

وَفِي هٰذَا ٱلْيَوْمِ وَفِي هٰذَا ٱلْوَقْتِ

wa fi hadha alyawmi wa fi hadha alwaqti

on this day, in this moment,

وَكُلِّ وَقْتٍ تَحِيَّةً وَسَلاَماً

wa kulli waqtin tahiyyatan wa salaman

and in every moment, to him greetings and salutations from me.

السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا بْنَ سَيِّدِ ٱلْعَالَمِينَ

alssalamu `alayka yabna sayyidi al`alamina

Peace be upon you, O son of the chief of the worlds

وَعَلَىٰ ٱلْمُسْتَشْهَدِينَ مَعَكَ

wa `ala almustashhadina ma`aka

and upon those who were martyred with you;

سَلاَماً مُتَّصِلاَ مَا ٱتَّصَلَ ٱللَّيْلُ وَٱلنَّهَارُ

salaman muttasilan ma ittasala allaylu walnnaharu

such peace that is as connected as day and night.

السَّلاَمُ عَلَىٰ ٱلْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ ٱلشَّهِيدِ

alssalamu `ala alhusayni bni `aliyyin alshshahidi

Peace be upon al-Husayn the son of `Ali the martyr.

السَّلاَمُ علىٰ عليِّ بنِ ٱلْحُسَينِ ٱلشَّهِيدِ

alssalamu `ala `aliyyi bni alhusayni alshshahidi

Peace be upon `Ali the son of al-Husayn the martyr.

السَّلاَمُ علىٰ ٱلْعَبَّاسِ بنِ أَمِيرِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ ٱلشَّهِيدِ

alssalamu `ala al`abbasi bni amiri almu'minina alshshahidi

Peace be upon al-`Abbas the son of the Commander of the Faithful the martyr.

السَّلاَمُ عَلَىٰ ٱلشُّهَدَاءِ مِنْ وُلْدِ أَمِيرِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ

alssalamu `ala alshshuhada'i min wuldi amiri almu'minina

Peace be upon the martyrs from the sons of the Commander of the Faithful.

السَّلاَمُ عَلَىٰ ٱلشُّهَدَاءِ مِنْ وُلْدِ جَعْفَرٍ وَعَقِيلٍ

alssalamu `ala alshshuhada'i min wuldi ja`farin wa `aqilin

Peace be upon the martyrs from the sons of Ja`far and `Aqil.

السَّلاَمُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ مُسْتَشْهَدٍ مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ

alssalamu `ala kulli mustashhadin min almu'minina

Peace be upon every faithful believer who was martyred.

اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

allahumma salli `ala muhammadin wa ali muhammadin

O Allah, (please) send blessings upon Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad

وَبَلِّغْهُمْ عَنِّي تَحِيَّةً وَسَلاَماً

wa ballighhum `anni tahiyyatan wa salaman

and convey to them greetings and salutation from me.

السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا رَسُولَ ٱللَّهِ

alssalamu `alayka ya rasula allahi

Peace be upon you, O Allah’s Messenger.

وَعَلَيْكَ ٱلسَّلاَمُ وَرَحْمَةُ ٱللَّهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ

wa `alayka alssalamu wa rahmatu allahi wa barakatuhu

Peace and Allah’s mercy and blessings be upon you.

أَحْسَنَ ٱللَّهُ لَكَ ٱلْعَزَاءَ

ahsana allahu laka al`aza'a

May Allah console you satisfactorily

فِي وَلَدِكَ ٱلْحُسَيْنِ عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلاَمُ

fi waladika alhusayni `alayhi alssalamu

regarding your son al-Husayn, peace be upon him.

السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا أَبَا ٱلْحَسَنِ يَا أَمِيرَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ

alssalamu `alayka ya aba alhasani ya amira almu'minina

Peace be upon you, O Abu’l-Hasan the Commander of the Faithful.

وَعَلَيْكَ ٱلسَّلاَمُ وَرَحْمَةُ ٱللَّهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ

wa `alayka alssalamu wa rahmatu allahi wa barakatuhu

Peace and Allah’s mercy and blessings be upon you.

أَحْسَنَ ٱللَّهُ لَكَ ٱلْعَزَاءَ فِي وَلَدِكَ ٱلْحُسَيْنِ

ahsana allahu laka al`aza'a fi waladika alhusayni

May Allah console you satisfactorily regarding your son al-Husayn.

السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكِ يَا فَاطِمَةُ

alssalamu `alayki ya fatimatu

Peace be upon you, O Fatimah,

يَا بِنْتَ رَسُولِ رَبِّ ٱلْعَالَمِينَ

ya binta rasuli rabbi al`alamina

O daughter of the Messenger of the Lord of the Worlds.

وَعَلَيْكِ ٱلسَّلاَمُ وَرَحْمَةُ ٱللَّهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ

wa `alayki alssalamu wa rahmatu allahi wa barakatuhu

Peace and Allah’s mercy and blessings be upon you.

أَحْسَنَ ٱللَّهُ لَكِ ٱلْعَزَاءَ فِي وَلَدِكِ ٱلْحُسَيْنِ

ahsana allahu laki al`aza'a fi waladiki alhusayni

May Allah console you satisfactorily regarding your son al-Husayn.

السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا أَبَا مُحَمَّدٍ ٱلْحَسَنُ

alssalamu `alayka ya aba muhammadin alhasanu

Peace be upon you, O Abu-Muhammad al-Hasan.

وَعَلَيْكَ ٱلسَّلاَمُ وَرَحْمَةُ ٱللَّهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ

wa `alayka alssalamu wa rahmatu allahi wa barakatuhu

Peace and Allah’s mercy and blessings be upon you.

أَحْسَنَ ٱللَّهُ لَكَ ٱلْعَزَاءَ فِي أَخِيكَ ٱلْحُسَيْنِ

ahsana allahu laka al`aza'a fi akhika alhusayni

May Allah console you satisfactorily regarding your brother al-Husayn.

السَّلاَمُ عَلَىٰ أَرْوَاحِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَاتِ

alssalamu `ala arwahi almu'minina wal-mu'minati

Peace be upon the souls of the believing men and women,

ٱلأَحْيَاءِ مِنْهُمْ وَٱلأَمْوَاتِ

al-ahya'i minhum wal-amwati

both the alive and the dead.

وَعَلَيْهِمُ ٱلسَّلاَمُ وَرَحْمَةُ ٱللَّهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ

wa `alayhim alssalamu wa rahmatu allahi wa barakatuhu

Peace and Allah’s mercy and blessings be upon them.

أَحْسَنَ ٱللَّهُ لَهُمُ ٱلْعَزَاءَ فِي مَوْلاَهُمُ ٱلْحُسَيْنِ

ahsana allahu lahum al`aza'a fi mawlahum alhusayni

May Allah console them satisfactorily regarding their chief al-Husayn.

اَللَّهُمَّ ٱجْعَلْنَا مِنَ ٱلطَّالِبِينَ بِثَارِهِ

allahumma ij`alna min alttalibina bitharihi

O Allah, (please) include us with those who shall demand with his vengeance

مَعَ إِمَامٍ عَدْلٍ تُعِزُّ بِهِ ٱلإِسْلاَمَ وَأَهْلَهُ

ma`a imamin `adlin tu`izzu bihi al-islama wa ahlahu

with a just leader through whom You may confer might on Islam and its people,

يَا رَبَّ ٱلْعَالَمِينَ

ya rabba al`alamina

O Lord of the Worlds.

اَللَّهُمَّ لَكَ ٱلْحَمْدُ

allahumma laka alhamdu

O Allah, all praise be to You

عَلَىٰ جَمِيعِ مَا نَابَ مِنْ خَطْبٍ

`ala jami`i ma naba min khatbin

for all adversaries that have afflicted us.

وَلَكَ ٱلْحَمْدُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ أَمْرٍ

wa laka alhamdu `ala kulli amrin

All praise be to You for all matters.

وَإِلَيْكَ ٱلْمُشْتَكَىٰ فِي عَظِيمِ ٱلْمُهِمَّاتِ

wa ilayka almushtaka fi `azimi almuhimmati

The complaint about the gross distresses

بِخِيَرَتِكَ وَأَوْلِيَائِكَ

bikhiyaratika wa awliya'ika

that afflicted Your select ones and Your intimate servants is addressed to You alone.

وَذٰلِكَ لِمَا أَوْجَبْتَ لَهُمْ مِنَ ٱلْكَرَامَةِ وَٱلْفَضْلِ ٱلْكَثِيرِ

wa dhalika lima awjabta lahum min alkaramati walfadli alkathiri

This is on account of the honor and abundant favor that You have decided for them.

اَللَّهُمَّ فَصَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

allahumma fasalli `ala muhammadin wa ali muhammadin

So, O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad,

وَٱرْزُقْنِي شَفَاعَةَ ٱلْحُسَيْنِ عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلاَمُ يَوْمَ ٱلْوُرُودِ

warzuqni shafa`ata alhusayni `alayhi alssalamu yawma alwurudi

endue me with the intercession of al-Husayn, peace be upon him, on the Day of Coming (to You),

وَٱلْمَقَامِ ٱلْمَشْهُودِ وَٱلْحَوْضِ ٱلْمَوْرُودِ

walmaqami almashhudi walhawdi almawrudi

the witnessed standing, and the approached pond.

وَٱجْعَلْ لِي قَدَمَ صِدْقٍ عِنْدَكَ

waj`al li qadama sidqin `indaka

Decide for me with You a step of honesty

مَعَ ٱلْحُسَيْنِ وَأَصْحَابِ ٱلْحُسَيْنِ عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلاَمُ

ma`a alhusayni wa ashabi alhusayni `alayhi alssalamu

with al-Husayn and the companions of al-Husayn, peace be upon him,

ٱلَّذِينَ وَاسَوْهُ بِأَنْفُسِهِمْ

alladhina wasawhu bi'anfusihim

who offered him their souls,

وَبَذَلُوٱ دُونَهُ مُهَجَهُمْ

wa badhalu dunahu muhajahum

sacrificed themselves in defense of him,

وَجَاهَدوُٱ مَعَهُ أَعْدَاءَكَ

wa jahadu ma`ahu a`da'aka

and fought against his enemies with him,

ٱبْتِغَاءَ مَرْضَاتِكَ وَرَجَاءَكَ

ibtigha'a mardatika wa raja'ika

seeking Your pleasure, placing their hope in You,

وَتَصْديقاً بِوَعْدِكَ

wa tasdiqan biwa`dika

believing in Your promise,

وَخَوْفَا مِنْ وَعيدِكَ

wa khawfan min wa`idika

and fearing from Your threat.

إِنَّكَ لَطِيفٌ لِمَا تَشَاءُ

innaka latifun lima tasha'u

You are verily Benignant to whom You wish,

يَا أَرْحَمَ ٱلرَّاحِمينَ

ya arhama alrrahimina

O most merciful of all those who show mercy
